Destructive rasterization when applying PS filters in IL?

hi everyone
here's my problem. afaik when one applies a photoshop filter to a vector image, the process is destructive. the image is rasterized and then the effect is applied.
when i want to vectorise it again i do a live trace [with the most demanding settings], and naturally lose some of the definition, it doesnt look as good as it did as a raster.
my question is, how can i provide maximum fidelity when destructively applying ps filters to paths? - would rasterizing very large vector images help?
on another note, apart from downloading svg filters [i'm about to post another thread on that] - is there any other way of adding IL or PS filters to illustrator? i really like the creative possibilities and always feel like having more would be wonderful.

Any raster effect applied using the Effects menu is non-destructive and preserves the original vector art. You can see this when you switch to Outline view of if you select the artwork — the paths with be highlighted. If you are applying the effects through the Filter menu (Version < 14), then the result is rasterized. You can protect yourself from this by either using the Effect menu or preserving a copy of the original vector art on a hidden layer.

Error when applying data filters on Logical Dimensional Table

I have a data filter setup on a dimension table using session variables. The session variables are getting populated in the correct way. To make sure, I created an analysis with session variables, and I see the values that I need to apply the data filters.
When I select a column from the dimensional table in the presentation services, I am getting below error.

You can go into the BI Administration tool, then go to tools. After that go to Query Repository.
In the "name" field leave the "*". Set the "type" to variable and do not establish a filter.
Once you hit query you should see all of the repository variables listed and you can see the code that is throwing you the error. Although, in my case it is throwing me a code that does not exist in this list. I'm a bit stuck as well.

Red line and beeps when trying to apply Audio Filters in FCE

I'm using FCE 4.0.1 and am getting red line and beeps when trying to apply Audio Filters. I have rendered the files. No problems with audio otherwise.

Just as a point of clarification, you stated that you were "getting red line and beeps when trying to apply Audio Filters" Did you mean when you applied audio filters? Or just when you were trying to apply them?
What is the format, sampling rate and bit depth of the audio? Does it happen just with certain filters or with any filters applied?

Can we apply saved filters to union reports in obiee 11g?

Can we apply saved filters to union reports in obiee 11g?
I am able to apply saved filters for normal reports but not for union reports.
The catalog pane is blank, when i click on result columns or each criteria.
The only option i see is to manually create the filters for each criteria, dont i have any choice to use a saved filter for union report?
Is this a bug or something i am unaware of , Please guide me.

I get the same issue. I thought that it's a problem in a security - the catalog pane is clear in a union report. But saved filters work in 11g. I migrated catalog from 10g to 11g and I see saved filters in the conditions. But you may add saved filters directly into xml. Go on Tab Advanced and edit Analysis XML. You have to add code like this
<sawx:expr xsi:type="sawx:savedFilter" path="/shared/FOLDER/_filters/FOLDER/FILTER_NAME" name="FILTER_NAME"/> in a right place.

Subtotals don't update when applying a filter

Hello,
I have a table that I reorganized with categories. I applied a "SubTotal" function to each category then I applied a filter. You can do most of this in Numbers in the "Reorganized" area.
Anyway, when I applied the filters, the Subtotal never updated. I think excel pivot tables has a similar issue but never bothered to go there.
Anybody no what is it that I need to do to have the subtotal show me correct results when filters are applied?

Unfortunately for what you want to do, hiding of rows does not hide the data from the formulas. This is true with the category functions as well the regular functions. Can you reorder the precedence of your categories to get the hidden stuff to not be in the subtotals? In other words if you have a category based on column A and a sub-category of column B, can you make B be the main category and A be the sub-category to achieve your results?

Applying multiple filters to multiple clips?

Hi Guys
I have about 100 clips in my Bin, is there a way to apply the same set of filters to all of them without dragging them into the timeline first?
I tried dragging all of them into the timeline, then pasted filter attributes which works, then I did a long render which was fine, I then dragged them back into the Logging bin. The problem is when I drag them back to the timeline the need redering again.
I basically want to apply the filters to all of my clips first while keeping them in the logging bin, then drag them to timeline as I need them.
All ideas appreciated

I think you pretty much did what you can do in that respect.
You could create a new timeline with the same settings, drag all your clips there, apply the filters, then drag copy clips as you need them to your original timeline. Seems like a strange way to do it though. Why not just cut your show without the filters then add the filters at the end?

HELP: Keep Getting Error When Applying Magic Bullet Looks

get this error when applying Looks.
"After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in "Looks".
and then it says
"After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <2280>
<MCExportInfo: Destruct> <5> Destruct for 420462944"
I try to apply Looks to another video and I get a different error saying language registry key. I apply Looks to a third video and I get the dynamiclink error. It's like different error for different video. All 3 videos shot with different cameras.

Same problem here ! I have Vista 64 bit and Intel 4500 Mhd
driver. The issue is Magic Bullet Misfire works fine in Adobe After
Effects CS5 but it crashes with Magic Bullet Looks.
Have checked OpenGL in AE CS5 which are by default OFF, that is if you open Adobe After Effects CS5 and into edit and then click 'preferences'. Under previews there is ur OpenGL info. Click OpenGL, its says need to update driver or get a better OpenGL above 2.0. I think updating to new OpenGL may fix the issue. I have made a video with Magic Bullet Misfire and it works fine but the issue is with only 'Magic Bullet Looks' presets where the AE crashes.
So it cant be Windows 7, Vista or 32 bit or 64 bit issue. Probably a driver error or an internal Magic Bullet 1.4 or Adobe After Effects CS5 64 bit error.

Applying some filters (bcc) makes clip go black!

when i apply some filters (bcc3 film damage) to a clip, it makes the clip go black - even after alt+r to render all.
im on fcp 5.1 and it seems to be just this bcc3 - boris i think it is filter - other third party filters work fine, for example i have another film damage filter by 'G Film' and this works fine.

What graphics card do you have? Not all of them work with the Vignette filter, or Noise...in HD. They aren't powerful enough. Get a warning when you add the filter? We have one computer that can't recognize the filters, so we just replaced the graphics card with an ATI 3870.

I am getting following error when opening the "General Supplier Data" from Pre-Select Supplier.
Error Message: "Error message: Error when applying a XSLT transformation: No valid XSLT program supplied"
I have already read the related threads on SDN and checked the SAP Note 883896 and others. Even tried running the program UXS_DEL_NAVIGATION_NODE and UXS_ADD_MISSING_XSLT_NAME. But not able to solve the issue.

Hi All: Our platform is IBM AIX power system 64 bit, os level 6. Oracle Fusion Middleware version is 10.3.6.0.8. We tried to patch 10.3.6.0.10 on it, but encounter ‘out of memory error’ when applied WebLogic patch 10.3.6.0.10 on UAT report server. Currently UAT has 3GB memory (currently is 3G) .

Solutions: Bounce the applications and check the arguments if you can increase it. It is due to memory issue
You can set these values in CommEnv.sh (.cmd for windows) file located in the weblogic_home/common/bin directory.
This gets applied to all the domains under that wls home.
If you want to make the changes to specific domain then edit the SetDomainEnv.sh file located under the domain/bin directory.

I try to apply patch 9655006 (prerequis for upgrade to 11.2.0.2).
Everything is OK for grid applying with success.
When I apply this patch to oracle db home, I get :

Argument(s) Error... Given 'ocmrf' file does not exists.
Please check the arguments and try again.

This indicates that you only have handles available on one side of the edit point. If the transition ends on the edit, that means that the next shop begins on the first frame of the media file and there is no room for it to extend and create the necessary overlap.

Problem when apply SAP Bundle Patch for 10.2.0.5

We are trying to apply SAP Bundle Patch (SBP) SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip and SAP_102052_201103_SOL64.zip using MOPatch utility. Both MOPatch and OPatch utility have been updated with the latest download from SAP. When applying patch for SAP_102052_201102, most patches went through except for one patch that requires OPatch to be version 10.2.0.5.0. The OPatch version downloaded from SAP is 10.2.0.4.9. Even the OPatch delievered together in the SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip file is 10.2.0.4.9.
Below are extract of the opatch log file for this patch:

The file I can see there is generic for ALL operating systems and the name is:
OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip
it seems that the version is 10.2.0.5, not 10.2.0.4.9 as you mentioned.
I have downladed it and look at the README:
Patch summary:
README file for OPatch 10.2.0.5.0, the Oracle Interim Patching Tool.
I'm not installing it, but it seems that the version is not the same as yours.
Is this the one you have downloaded?
Have you installed it properly? => may be you are running an older one
