Detached audio track is silent

Hi,
I am editing some screen captures with audio (done with Snapz Pro X, which produces QT files, imported into iMovie). When I detach audio on a section of the clip, the resulting audio track is completely silent. Its volume is set to 100%, but there's no sound.
Any ideas what could be the problem? This is with iMovie 8.0.3.
Thank you for any help.

Exactly!
I will certainly keep that solution in mind whenever this problem comes back.
For now, I simply restarted the app and VOILA! Everything is back to normal. (I know, I should have done this before writing here lol.)
Thank you for your help!

Audio Tracks are silent after Narration. Mixer is at 0.0dB on all channels. Audio plays fine when double clicked but is silent when played back on timeline. Narration is fine. Any ideas as to what's happening and how to correct this?

What you described is a known issue with Premiere Elements 12/12.1. I have not been able to reproduce the problem which has been encountered by
    several. But....
Please read about the fix offered by Llamadude99. That specific fix as well as modifications of it have resolved this problem for several.

  • WAV Audio Track 2 silent when rendered

    Using CS4/    i7 & 8 gig ram.
Thanks so much for your help in the past. I've just noticed something strange.
On the past couple of projects, the following happens:
Using Bill's suggestion, I changed the mp3 over to WAV with Audacity.  Everything works better.  However, there is another issue.
I have  imported a WAV music track into my project and placed it on audio track 2.  When I first start further editing on the project, the audio from track 2 plays fine.
However,  when I render the video, and audio render follows, track 2 does not play.   Track 1 plays fine.
    1.  I can go to the preview panel and place the same audio file on track 3 and it will play fine................  or,
    2.  I can exit from PP and when I restart PP and reopen the project, the track 2 audio will play fine.  If I do not render the audio when I render the video,Track 2 plays fine............
Why would rendering the audio shut off the sound?????  Any way around this situation?
      Tks,  Tom B.

You do not need Audacity. Premiere has a feature called Render and Replace.
Is this rendering the timeline or exporting out of Premiere?
You can do whatever works best.
Select audio clip, go to Clip, Audio Options, Render and Replace. THis will render the audio part to a wave generated by Premiere.
    See how that works.

  • Audio tracks silent

My project's audio tracks have become silent except the comments track. How to restore?
    Thanks in advance.

No clues on this Premiere Elements 12 happening that has been reported by several users.
I have tried to reproduce the problem to troubleshoot it and cannot reproduce it so that I can troubleshoot it.
The ID Liamadude99 had the problem and believes she resolved it. She posted the following March 2, 2014
"I was trying different things and I went to tools to narration. I removed the mute audio before recording, then deleted
the narration I previously did and then pressed undo, to bring it back and my audio returned on my video. Very strange
    but it worked....."
Please give that a try and then let us know if that worked for you. That would be a major contribution.
Also a screenshot of your Timeline when the problem exists would be helpful to me to try to reproduce the problem.
    Thanks.

My apple TV is connected to a DTV with an HDMI cable and to my Yamaha receiver via optic cable. We rented a movie on Apple TV and.found that the movie played, but we only got audio for music tracks. Voice tracks were silent using both TV and receiver.  This only occurred on the rented video and on recorded shows on my cable DVR. previews and other content on Apple TV are fine. Any ideas??

Previews and trailers do not contain 5.1 audio.
If you have recently moved your setup, you may have inadvertently changed some of the settings on your receiver. It certainly sounds as though it is unable to play the 5.1 audio from the Apple TV.

  • Detaching separate video and audio tracks

If I import a video file without audio, and then a music file, why does FCPx snap them together in a way that, if I want to move the first 20 seconds of the clip further away, when I move it forward, it takes the audio track with it?, how can I detach it?

As you can see in the image attached, theese green lines seem to keep united both tracks (or track sectors)

  • Break in audio track

I have tried three times to compile a DVD of a slide show with two audio tracks made into a playlist. When I preview the completed slideshow before burning it runs as I want it to but at precisely the same point in all of the 3 slideshows (they have a different iTunes playlist which suggests to me that it is not the audio track?) I have burned to disk, there is a momentary break in the audio which spoils the finished product. Each time I have used the same type of DVD, should I use another from a different box in case there is something wrong with the whole lot? Or is it something to do with the iPhoto image that is at that place in the slide show? Can anyone help please?

My problem is that I'm checkerboarding a discussion; lowering the level on the person who isn't speaking when they're silent.  Changes to volume aren't likely to be global but to follow the back and forth of the discussion.  Someone who's excited might interject at a high volume then lower that volume when they have the floor.  That adjustment in volume often spans a cut from one camera to another.  Ideally, the audio track would be continuous and not chopped up into little pieces.  I'm beginning to think that the only solution is to detach the audio.

  • Audio tracks suddenly missing from capture... need help!

Hi! I have been capturing video (with audio) successfully and routinely for months now. Suddenly, though, when I capture video... from the same device, with the same preset... the clips have only 1 Video track, and no Audio tracks. My camera is still recording audio (and I still hear it during the capture), but the audio tracks just aren't there in the resultant clip. It seems to me like FCE has just decided not to capture audio, as if to say "pffft... we don't need that." But why this happened is beyond me!
Even within this same project, I have other clips captured with audio just fine. I didn't even realize it was an option NOT to capture audio. There aren't any settings to that effect in the Capture window... i.e. there's nothing to turn OFF, so I don't know how to turn it back ON! HELP! How do I get audio back on my captured clips? Is there a way to toggle this? How can I possibly be getting video without audio when the preset has already been working for this device?
Things seemed to change once I started using the Voice Over tool. After that, none of my captured clips have audio. Something I did on or around that time changed FCE internally. I combed through the manual but didn't see any leads. They assume if you have the right preset, it'll just work. No mention of disabling audio.
Please help, because I'm just about ready to throw my Mac throw the wall. I even tried reinstalling FCE, just to get it back to the previous state, but it didn't help.
P.S. I also haven't changed anything on my camera that would affect audio. I feel this is just a setting somewhere in FCE that I can't find and don't even know where to look for it...
    Thanks in advance!!

Hi. Where should I look for them? I haven't had much success finding things on my own, so please spell it out for me.
I just find this so odd... it would be one thing for the tracks to be silent or garbled, then I would think this was a cable issue or the camera. But I can't even imagine why the audio tracks would just not be there. If I saw a preference for "Video Only Capture" somewhere, it would make sense.
Anyway, thanks. Please tell me where there's a prefs file, and I'll roast it.

I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. • Detaching audio from video clips

    Hi
After trying the standard 'detach audio' button I cant seem to find a way to completley detach audio from a clip in order to hear the track I have added to the clip. All I can seem to do is turn the volume right down, and inturn still able to hear it, which is proving annoying!
    Any ideas would be appreciated!
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply Geoff,
I basically have a soundtrack 3.28 minutes long which I want to be the only noise thats playing throughout my interchanging video clips, so I would like to completley move the audio from the all of the indivdual video clips that I am adding in, I thought the 'detatch audio' button would be the one for this, but as I continuously play back bits of the movie to prefect editing I can still slightly hear the sound from the individual videos that I am adding?
So frustrating, but Im sure thats its something real basic that I am missing.....

  • Can I force A side of audio track on multiclip?

This should be a no brainer, but I can't figure it out... I am editing a feature on FCP. They shot a lot of A and B camera simo stuff. But they were only feeding the audio into the A camera.
I made a multiclip, but I ALWAYS want the audio to be coming from the sound on the A camera and not the silent audio tracks that are attached to the B Cam side.
Can I set the multiclip up so it has 2 VIDEO tracks but only 1 audio? Or besides having to manually patch the tracks everytime, is there a way I can force the audio to always come from the A Camera even if I am using the B camera pix?
    Thanks
    Dave

Well in the time it took you to post this you could of tried two things. One ... the manual. Two poke-around in the viewer were you can turn the gang on/off and you will see some check marks next to the tracks of the multi-clip. Choose only the ones you want to work with.
I know it took me along time to find it too. Only because I didn't tread the manual.

  • Audio track edits not saved

I am using Captivate 4. I have a group of files where any edits I make to the audio track are not saved. The audio plays back fine in the audio editor. It just will not save the changes I make to the audio track (cut segments, add silent segments, etc.) I make a change, click OK in the audio editor, close the editor. When I reopen the editor the changes are not saved. I tried uninstalling and reintalling Captivate. I tried saving the file under a different name. Any ideas why this might be happening and if there is any workaround? thanks.

    Hi there
You should ensure that Captivate has been updated to the most recent release. The developers released an update after the initial release. Additionally, you may need to follow what is outlined in this blog post. I had to do that on my PC.

  • How to combine multiple edited audio tracks in multicam?

I have three camera angles each of which has audio.  I would like to combine the audio from all three cameras but the challenge is that I want to edit various points in each audio track separately and synchronized with my cut points from one angle to another.  My plan was to edit the audio  in each of the 3 tracks then detach the audio from each track and recombine  by overlaying them into one audio track.  However I found that I cannot detach audio from tracks within the angle viewer where I've made my audio edits.  Is there a way to do this or is there a work around?

I found a clumsy work around.  I used Audio Hijack Pro from Rogue Amoeba to capture the audio from FCP X  of all three camera angles.  From the Angle Editor I enabled the audio monitor for each angle and in the Timeline played all three tracks while Audio Hijack Pro recorded the combination of the thee.  This allowed me to capture all of my audio edits from the Angle Editor from each of the three tracks.  I then copied the combined audio file to the multicam project, aligned it with the multicam audio and reduced the multicam audio to essentially zero, leaving only the combined 3-track audio  that I had added.
This approach got me through the project but there must be a better way to accomplish this. Any suggestions?

  • Remove video, and keep audio track.

Is it possible to delete video, yet keep the sound, in order to add voice over

Yes.  If you detach the audio from a clip you can move the resulting (purple) audio track somewhere else in the timeline and then delete the clip it originated from.  (You have to make sure the detached audio is not still attached to the original clip else it will be deleted too).

  • Audio Tracking Suddenly Off

I'm experiencing a wierdness for the first time in iMovie. I am doing a final edit on a movie and noticing that my audio track has shifted slightly, enough to be noticeable. This was not happening a few weeks ago when I finished my last movie.
I am making a movie from three different cameras' imported clips, and moving from camera to camera, and then extending the detached audio from the camera that sounds the best, over-voicing whichever clip I'm not using audio from.
At first I thought I had inadvertently moved the detached audio clips, but upon some experimenting involving deleting and re-detatching and not even extending the audio, but turning on the clip volume again to play both, the detached audio is clearly not synced to the clip it came from.
Any ideas what could cause this to occur, and how to fix it?
Has there been an iMovie update in the last week that is causing problems?

Experiencing problems with audio in the projects also. Volume goes suddenly up or down in the middle of the clip.
    Any help?
    Thanks and good luck
