  • Test Data Management Server - Databases/Tables

    Hello,
We are currently preparing to do a pilot with the Test Data Management Server and were point some initial documents together indicating technical changes it will bring to our landscape. We have attend the TZTDM3 course and have read the Master Guide but haven't located the detailed information regarding what databases/tables are created when TDMS is installed. If anyone could point me at this documentation or provided the info it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    J

Thanks for response but I don't want move data warehouse databases. My idea is create another server and change the data warehouse managemet server role to this new server preserving the databases in the original server. Is possible do this?

  • How to test Data migration/conversion?

I'm writing Java scripts to migrate a 8i database to 10g db with totally different schema. My question is after the migration is done, any process/tool that I can use to verify all the data has been migration successfully and completed?
    Thanks,
    Andy

Does "totally different schema" mean "totally different data model"? If so, there is no automatic way for any tool to ensure that the data in two different data models matches-- you would have to write custom scripts for that sort of thing since only you know how the data is supposed to be translated from one data model to another.

  • Test data migration system

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone help me to know what exactly is SAP TDMS and how does it support and what it supports only R/3 or BW wtc.
How can we know in the market what other companies are using like, are they are using SAP TDMS  or any other product similar to SAP TDMS.
Does any one know any other product which supports for ECC,APO, BW etc.
    Please help experts.
    thank
    ram

    Hi,
We are doing a research on SAP TDMS as we are planning to implement but at the same time we are looking for similar products like what other companies are offering and what other SAP companies are using,  as We have heard that SAP TDMS is too costly and offers  support only to ECC & R/3 .
My  question, is there any product that is similar to SAP TDMS that is less in cost and offers more services to look into ECC, BW,AP0,R/3 etc,.and
secondly what other companies are using .
    Please do reply.
    Thanks.

  • DBCS data migration

I need to migrate client data from on premise oracle database (11g) to cloud database . I went through this website which talks about all possibvle ways to load dbcs database tables , http://www.ateam-oracle.com/loading-data-in-oracle-database-cloud-service/ . I am mostly interested in Using outbound SOAP and REST invocation APIs . But I am not very sure how to approach this process . Can someone guide me what should be high level steps that need to be taken if I want to transfer data from table A in an Oracle database to a cloud database table using SOAP and REST ? I am using the trial version of Oracle cloud database .
From my initial investigation I think , there has to be a PL/SQL code written in on premise database whcih can read data from database tables and transfer that to cloud table . On cloud side , we need to write a REST service which will have a PL/SQL code to POST this data to the cloud tables . If this is true , then if you could guide me with a sudo code for PL/SQL on on-premise databse side  that would be helpful too .
Also I am aware and have tested data migration using SQL developer , but I dont think this is appropiate for heavy data load , again you can correct if I am wrong here , or if you are using any better migrate enterprise wide data please do share your experience .
    Regards
    Bond

  • SAP Best Practices for Data Migration :repositories only on MS SQL Server ?

    Hi,
I'm implementing the "SAP Best Practices for Data Migration" (see https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/bp-datamigration).
As part of the installation you have to install MS SQL Server Express Edition. The installation guide contains detailed steps to do this. All repositories for Data Services should be running on SQL Server, according to the installation guide.
The customer I'm working for now does not want to use SQL Server, but DB2, as company standard.
So I use DB2 for the local and profiler repositories.
I notice however that the web application http://localhost:8080/MigrationServices does not support DB2.The only database type you can select in the configuration area is MS SQL Server.
Is this a limitation, a by design ?

    Hans,
The current release of SAP Best Practices for Data Migration, v1.32, supports only MS SQL Server.  The intent when developing the DM content was to quickly set up a temporary, standardized data migration environment, using tools that are available to everyone.  SQL Server Express was chosen to host the repositories, because it is easy to set up and can be downloaded for free.  Sone users have successfully deployed the content on Oracle XE, but as you have found, the MigrationServices web application works only with SQL Server.
The next release, including the web app, will support SQL Server and Oracle, but not DB2.

There is a new feature in version 1.2.1 of the migration
workbench that will generate the BCP and SQL Loader scripts for
    you.
Right mouse click on the 'Tables' component group in the Oracle
Model UI tree and click 'Generate Data Migrate Script...'.
This will place the scripts in the Log directory you have
specified in the Tools -> Options menu. Go to the Logging tab and
enter a valid value for 'Log file directory'.
The data move scripts will be located in the 'Log file
    directory'\SQLServer6 directory.

  • Automating Data Migration from SQL Server 2005

    Hi All,
I need to migrate data from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle DB ( Datawarehouse). The data migration involves updating Dimensions and Fact table. I have got painful job of switching topology to point to over 100 different weekly SQL DBs ( in sequence) and pull the data into DW. How can I automate my ODI process to switch from one after the other.
    Any Ideas?
    KS

ODI Variables are there to help you with this. Please go through this post at [http://blogs.oracle.com/dataintegration/2009/05/using_odi_variables_in_topolog.html] .
This will show you how to use a variable Oracle data server.
On similar lines you should be able to switch to any of your 100 weekly SQL server DBs.
And loop in a sequence to load data from all of them.
    Hope that helps

  • Automation of TDMS Migration Server Overview

    Hello all.
I am new to TDMS. I found all background programs which get executed through TDMS Migration Server Overview transaction (CNV_MBT_TDMS). Does anyone know if there is any standard BAPI's given by SAP to execute those for automation purpose? If not then what is best way to execute those programs (in background)? I believe recording BDC only seems to be an option, please let me know if you have different view?
    Thanks in advance,
    Abhijeet

There are no BAPIs provided by SAP .

TDMS is a standard product for which you need a license to execute these programs.
These programs should not be executed using BDC.

  • Error detail in data migration?

    Hi all,
I'm migrating an Access database to Oracle using SQL Developer and the migration workbench.
When I run the data migration, it almost all works, but one table has one error.
I get a list of tables, with rows, total rows, errors and total errors.
Only one error is reported in the summary. 2208 out of 2209 records migrated in this table.
How do I find out what the problem is?
    Is there a log anywhere?
Is the data migration script visible anywhere?
    Thanks,
    Greg H

    Hi Dermot,
It turns out there's some corrupt data in the Access database. That or it's in a language that I don't have installed on my machine.
Access displays it as a bunch of squares.
I guess if Access can't figure out how to display it, it would be unreasonable to expect a migration tool to.
The Export Table Data failed with "error #5 Invalid procedure call or argument" and did not create the file for this table.
I'll send this one record back to the business and let them figure out which record it is and if it's important.
    Thanks for your help,
    Greg H

  • Data Migration From Peoplesoft , JDEdwards To SAP.

    Hi,
This is kiran here we are doing data Migration work from Peoplesoft And JDEdwards to SAP.in SAP side it involves Master data tables Related to Customer, Vendor, Material. and Meta data tables related to SD, MM, FI. We as SAP Consultant identified Fields from above tables and marked them as Required, Not required, And Mandatory. The Peoplesoft and JDEdwards flocks come up with the same from their side. Then we want map the Fields. as I am new to data Migration any body suggest me what are the steps involves in data Migration How to do Data Mapping in Migration Thanks in advance.
    Thanks
    Kiran.B

    Hi Kiran,
Good... Check out the following documentation and links
Migrating from one ERP solution to another is a very complex undertaking. I don't think I would start with comparing data structures. It would be better to understand the business flows you have currently with any unique customizations and determine how these could be implemented in your target ERP. Once this is in place, you can determine the necessary data unload/reload to seed your target system.
A real configuration of an ERP system will only happen when there is real data in the system. The mapping of legacy system data to a new ERP is a long difficult process, and choices must be made as to what data gets moved and what gets left behind. The only way to verify what you need to actually run in the new ERP environment is to migrate the data over to the ERP development and test environments and test it. The only way to get a smooth transition to a new ERP is to develop processes as automatic as possible to migrate the data from the old system to the new.
Data loading is not a project that can be done after everything else is ready. Just defining the data in the legacy system is a huge horrible task. Actually mapping it to one of the ERP system schemas is a lesson in pain that must be experienced to be believed.
The scope of a data migration project is usually a fairly large development process with a lot of proprietary code written to extract legacy data, transform and load the data into the ERP system. This process is usually called ETL (extract, transform, load.)
How is data put into the ERP?
There is usually a painfully slow data import facility with most ERP systems. Mashing data into the usually undocumented table schema is also an option, but must be carefully researched. Getting the data out of the legacy systems is usually left to the company buying the ERP. These export - import processes can be complex and slow, sometimes specialized ETL tools can help, sometimes it is easier to use what ever your programmers are familiar with, tools such as C, shell or perl.
An interesting thing to note is that many bugs and quirks of the old systems will be found when the data is mapped and examined. I am always amazed at what data I find in a legacy system, usually the data has no relational integrity , note that it does not have much more integrity once it is placed in an ERP system so accurate and clean data going in helps to create a system that can work.
The Business Analysts (BAs) that are good understand the importance of data migration and have an organized plan to migrate the data, allocate resources, give detailed data maps to the migrators (or help create the maps) and give space estimates to the DBAs. Bad BAs can totally fubar the ERP implementation. If the BAs and management cannot fathom that old data must be mapped to the new system, RUN AWAY. The project will fail.
