Detect video card in 32 and 64 bit.

How can I get both the 32 and 64 bit versions of CS6 to detect my graphic processor (AMD Radeon HD7700) for GPU usage in Win 7 ? Cuiurently, it is only seen in 64 bit.

Thanks again Chris.
I again completely uninstalled the AMD Catalyst and drivers and reinstalled the latest one from their site. I am still unable to select Again, the card is not detected in the 32 bit version of CS6 and is readily available in 64 bit. Also very interesting is what the System info shows.  i.e. Windows XP and yet I installed the lastest version of CS after I had updated to Win 7 on a new computer.
Here's what the system info shows in CS 6 32 bitr ..

In my powerful mind, it appears that CS will only see the card in the 64 bit version. Not that it's a big problem with easy work-arounds but it puzzles me and I was hoping that someone else has had a similar experince and was willing to chime in.

  • Z77A-G45 will not detect video card.

I though that I was having trouble with a new gtx 760sc, so I RMA'd it.  On-board video works fine.  Still can't detect video card.  Bought a new power as well(antec HCG-750).  After i received the new video card and still had the same issues I tried out other video cards.  Tried two different nvidia cards.  One was a 4 series and one a 5 series.  Tried in both pci-e slots,  and yes the correct power cables were plugged in.

    CPU looks fine.
Was finally able to breadboard the thing today. Had the same issues at first.  Then I tried the third  pcie slot and got post.  This one is pcie2.0, so I tried the other slots again.  Was able to get the 760 to boot on th second pcie slot.  Put the mb back in the case and lost boot on card again. Reseated, same issue.  Breadboarded and was able to get the card to post.  Still no post in case.  Can't see what could be causing a short.  Rearranging the risers right now to see if is one of the risers causing a short, or maybe not enough clearance.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

  • H55m-e23 not detecting video card

Hello i recently upgraded my pc with new video card (asus engtx570 directcu ii gtx 570) the problem is that main board(MSI H55M-E23) is not detecting video card, so here is what happens when i turn the pc on it starts to beep 1long beep and 2 short beeps. First i thought it might be power suply so i bought new power suply with 700w and still the same thing happens, then i tryed with LC850w and same thing so i guess the power supply is not the problem. I removed rams and tryed with 1 stick, i have 4 different sticks and same thing happened with each stick. i tested the videocard on different mainboard (ASUS P5Q PRO and ASUS P8H67-M PRO REV. 3.0) and videocard worked fine. i tested my mainboard H55M-E23 with sapphire ATI HD 6950 and it worked too so the pci slot is ok, and now i dont know what to do more i tested all things possible. So what is the problem? my mainboard does not want to detect videocard (asus engtx570 directcu ii gtx 570) 3beeps ( 1long and 2 short) PLEASE HELP!

  • Photoshop CS5 64-bit does not detect Video Card

I just updated from CS4 to CS5. I have a core i7 with an ATI HD 5700 series graphics card with the most recent driver 10.9. Photoshop is also updated to 12.0.1. For some reason, only the 64-bit version does not detect the graphics card. Photoshop CS4 64-bit and Photoshop CS5 32-bit see the graphics card fine. I noticed a few others have had the same issues. Has this problem been addressed yet? If not, is there a workaround?

    It's a recently-reported issue with Catalyst 10.9 on the Radeon 57xx.

  • Video Card for Premiere and Photoshop?

Hi.   I thought I was reasonably well set up when I got an nVidia GeForce GTX 470 for video editing.   Unfortunately life throws us curve balls...
I'm upgrading one of my current monitors to a much better quality IPS-panel monitor.   At the top of my list is the NEC PA271W-BK-SV.  To use it at it fullest, apparently you need to use its DisplayPort.   Which of course the GTX 470 does not have.   So...
I'm looking for a good quality video card that has both CUDA support and a DisplayPort that supports a full 10-bit per color display pipeline.  Right now, the only one that I can find under $1,000 is the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800.  Anyone have experience with this one?   Better options at a reasonalble price point?
    Thanks and regards,
    Dan.

    Harm,
That looks like an absolute winner!   Many thanks!!!

  • Cannot Detect Video card (Radeon 6750m)

    Dear sir,
I would like to know why my laptop cannot detect my video card (Radeon 6750m). It only shows the built in graphic card intel. I already try to use system restore and reset to original factory mode. It will appear but after updating my drivers and reboot my laptop.  My laptop cannot detect again the video card.
Please help me resolve this problem,

You will have to enable the Radeon HD adapter by using the Catalyst Control Center.
Once you do that the adapter will appear in the Device manager.
If you are using the Intel HD graphics, only the Intel graphics will be seen in the Device Manager.
I know that may sound strange, but it is one of the pecularities of having a switchable graphics capable notebook.
The following URL goes to an overview of switchable graphics. Take a few minutes and read it. It should help make understanding it simpler.
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-dv4-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/5048648/model/5...
Do not instal the Intel graphics driver seperately!
Doing that breaks the switchable graphics feature.
Only install the HP ADM ATI graphics softpaq. It will install both drivers automatically and let you use the switchable graphics featrure og your notebook.

  • Mac Mini video card drivers Win 7 64 bit sp1

I was running OSX 10.6.4 and dual booting with Vista 64 bit when Vista crashed.  I went out and purchased Win 7 64 bit SP1 OEM version.  I used bootcamp to install this sucesfully but whatever I seem to try I cannot find/install the correct driver for the graphics card in Win 7.  It still defaults to Standard VGA Graphics Adapter 1280 x 1024.
I moved from the U.S to Thailand but forgot to bring my bootcamp disc  (Otherwise I might not even be writing this post).  I purchased a copy of Snow Lepoard 10.6.3 which has bootcamp 3.1 on it but still not the correct video card drivers.  I have also upgraded bootcamp to 3.2 and 3.3 and tried all the Win 7 updaates but to no avail.  I have tried to install manually from bootcamp on the DVD, I have read a few forums with the same issue but it tends to be a MacBook Pro and not a Mac Mini issue.  I have also instaleld Nvidia 285.38 and 285.62 drivers and both of these give me a black screen, so I know these are not the correct drivers.
I purchased my Mac Mini in Nov of 2010 and its a model MC270LL/A.  If I look in OSX I can see my video card is the
    Nvidia Geforce 320 M
    Vendor - NVIDIA (0x10de)
    Device ID 0x08a4
    Revision ID 0x00a2
    Rom Revision 3546.
I am not sure why this has to be so difficult but it is!  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks so much.

    There's a complicated driver issue.
    I'm also a user of Mac mini(2010, server) with windows7 x64.
    My experience is:
The only newest nvidia driver for daily using without trouble is 267.76.
If you want to use 27x~ 285.62/285.79,
your primary monitor must be connected to Mac mini with miniDisplayPort-VGA adapter,
I got the same black screen with applying HDMI port as primary.
If you upgrade to 290.36/295.51(the latest one),
you can prevent black screen with HDMI port, sounds good, right?
But as long as you update to any of the newest two drivers,
you will suffer BSOD(Blue Screen of Death, abnormally reboot, error code:0x116) during checking Windows index
or just watching HD movies, that anything may cause GPU malfunction.
    Referece thread:http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=215256
I still searching the solution because the HDMI 1.4a 3D supporting of my projector was begun from 285.62.
I always got BSOD when I want to enjoy Blu-ray 3D films.

  • Which video card for Aperture and dual monitors?

I have a G5 dual 2.0 with a GeForce FX 5200 video card that is driving one 23" Cinema display. I need to upgrade my card per the specs to run Aperture. I have also been thinking of getting a second 23" display. Can someone recommend the best video card for me. I know very little about video cards and have been reading a lot this morning. Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave;
No. PCIx and PCIe or PCI Express are not the same thing.
PCIx is an extended or slight sped up version of PCI. While PCIe is a switched bus structure instead.
Hence they are not the same. That is what all of the big news is about Apple has made the leap over to PCI Express.

  • Video card for HD and green screen

I use a windows XP64 based machine with a quad core I7 920 processor and 12 gigs of RAM with nVidia 260 card. I use CS3. Right now I am having severe crash issues in Premeire CS3.
I do HD 1080i video editing with up to 4 layers of green screen. I currently use Adobe AE Keylight2 for my greenscreen work. I bring the files into Premeire with "Dynamic Link". I crash, and crash, and crash. What is my best option to prevent crashing. A Quadro video card? which one? . Or, Matrox Max. My budget is somewhat limited. I can't get both. I want to upgrade to CS5 but need to fix this problem, now.
Sincere thanx to anyone who can help

I appreciate the quick answer and am considering moving to Windows
7 (64). What is the sad story about Matrox? What is the best way to speed
up my rendering or processing without having to purchase another cpu? Thanx once again for your quick response. I render primarily to h.264

  • Series of problems: Dedicated Video Cards turning ON AND OFF

Hi guys. It's been a long time. I'm back with yet some more problems.
After weeks of happiness with my wonderful computer (Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q706) I started finding some more issues with it. My laptop has three video cards as can be seen in this post: [Click ME].
One set is the integrated graphics card, an nVidia 9400M, and the other set consists of two dedicated nVidia 9800M GTX working in SLI.
What is the problem? At any given point the dedicated cards activate and deactivate continuously four or five times. This cycle can repeat itself two or up to four times a day.
Is that it? No. The set of cards are acticated&deactivated because the Windows Power Plans are being changed by an unkown agent. Whenever this thing starts it's because something is cycling through the power plans in an order I haven't bother to check but I know it goes through all three of them: Balanced, Power Saver and High Performance. I figured this out because while it was happening I had the Power Plan popup open and saw the radio buttons switching by themselves.
Is that it? No. When I wrote unkown agent, it wasn't so unkown. At one point I tried to run the Task Manager and keep a close eye on the list of processes running. Oh incredible is me. I found that for each time the power plan was changed, a process that went by "dllhost.exe" was causing the pain. See here:
At one point there were more than four of dllhosts. I looked it up and found that dllhost is a neutral Legit Microsoft file but can be manipulated to do "bad things". A few days later I still had the problem and checked the running processes with another program that replaces the task manager called "Free Extended Task Manager" by Extensoft. What surprised me was that when the thing was going on where there were supposed to be dllhosts therewere rundll32s instead. Should there still be rundll32 in Vista 64bit?
Sometimes, after the cycle is over, this error window will pop up:
I have no idea what it means. Sometimes it accompanies every turn the dedicated graphics set is trying to turn off. I suspect it pops up when the cards weren't able to shut down.
When I switch from the dedicated set back to the integrated card the fans won't shut down. Even after 12 hours they're still running at full speed and the air they're blowing out is practically cold.
That's all I gathered. I hope somebody can help out.

No, I am not saying it is bloatware.  Actually bloatware is anything that you don't need...
In this case I meant try that as a troubleshooting method.  If it is the case, then we can try reinstalling it.
You don't have to use the Tsohiba power management, or many other Toshiba software services.  It just comes down to if you need what those things do.  When they are working fine they don't seem to be CPU hogs so i usually leave them alone.  I did remove Toshiba power management on one laptop because it caused a problem and I was too lazy to do troubleshooting.  Also I was using the laptop as a desktop, always powered, so power management was not an issue.

  • GX60 shows two video cards? 7970M and 8650G.

I updated to the latest ati drivers, and now my laptop, GX60, thinks I have two video cards installed, a HD 7970M (true) and a HD 8650G (not true).
If I uninstall the 8650 under device manager, I am then unable to run the catalyst control manager, as it doesn't think I have a graphics card. This is even though the 7970M still shows up under devices.
Also, now when I run a youtube video, it shows as a green screen, with audio. I read that I am supposed to disable hardware acceleration under the flash menu, but that tab doesn't show up, which I believe is related to having messed up drivers.
    What do I do?

Em, no both is true. Your notebook HAS two gpus. The HD8650G is the integrated gpu of your AMD A10 APU. The 7970M is only active when 3D load is applied while everything else is covered by the integrated HD 8650G gpu.

  • IMac Video Card in 20" and 24"

    Hello,
I want to thank everyone in advance for posting here.
I am deciding between the 24" and 20" iMac but will be doing the video card upgrade regardless of which system I buy.
Can anyone tell me the difference between the upgrade options (nvidia geforce 1600 gt in the 24" and the ATI Radeon X1600?
My primary applications of use are Final Cut Pro 5, DVD Studio Pro 4, and Adobe Photoshop CS2. I don't care about render time, except for in Photoshop.
If anyone can help...please do. I recognize they both have the same VRAM, but if there wasn't a difference, they wouldn't be different upgrade options.
    Thanks

Actually, if you look at the specs at the online Apple store, you will see that the 20" offers the x1600 with a choice of 128 or 256MB of video ram. The 24" offers the Nividea 7300 w/128MB or the 7600 with 256. IF you are going to be doing video editing and photography, I would get the upgraded model no matter what system you get. Though it may be theoretically possible, it will be very impractible to upgrade the card later. You will need the ram, especially if you want to play any games,or get into Aperature for photo management and processing as well as CS2 also, I think it would also impact video editing as well.
BTW, the 24" screen is great.

  • Best Video Card for Editing and Rendering?

I bet this topic has been discussed at length, but doing a search for "best video card" did not give me the results I need. I am working with the latest version of Magic Bullet Movie Looks and started to notice artifacts in rendered video; flashes, black/white lines and complete boxes in the final frame. I contacted Red Giant, and they informed me my Quadro FX 1500 is not a "supported" card and is most likely the cause of these artifacts. Strange, as Movie Looks had Quadro FX 1300 and up as listed on their web site as compatible - but I digress. My question is, what video card do YOU like for PPRO CS3 AND AE? Movie Looks, like many other programs, rely on the video GPU to render their output - what has been fastest for you, and NOT caused issues with the rest of the system? I use video overlay (as part of Nvidia's Dual View) to edit the Program ouput on a separate monitor and also need this functionality as well - can't live without it! Thanks for your answers.
    System Specs:
    Dual core Dual processor Woodcrest
    6GB RAM
    2 TB RAID HD
Current Card: PNY NVidia Quadro FX 1500

Well, if you go to Adobe's hardware compatibility page is does list the 7800 as being fully supported:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/search_result.html?manuSearchVar=1&modelSearchVar=0 &supportSearchVar=0&brand=&dataFormat=&version=CS3&device=graphic&format=
but the 8800 series cards are also listed, which will support CUDA once it becomes widely used. CUDA is rumored to be utilized with CS4 which will speed up render and preview times drastically by utilizing the GPU as well as the CPU rather than mostly the CPU only.
    http://insidehpc.com/2006/11/10/what-is-cuda/
This could still be a year or two away, so if you think you may upgrade your video card again before that time, you may want to stick with the 7800 for now.

  • Flash Video fulll screen x86 and x64 bits

    I was watching this video:
    http://s1.animeid.com/video/561/naruto-shippuden-151.html
    I am using this configuration:
    Ubuntu 9.10 all updates
Linux Adobe Flash player 10 ( yes the official restricted)
Firefox Linux 3.5.8 Ubuntu Cannonical Version
    Video Driver:
    ATI FGLRX privative.
When I was about the minute 15, the computer restarts. And lost all of my work.
    So my question is:
    Is  this a bug??
Does flash player 10 in linux is able to play videos around  20 or 30 minuts with no problem??
I have been watching short videos in youtube and no problem.
This is a problem also in linux x64 bits player.
In windows XP SP3 all updates and firefox 3 all updates does work correctly, so I guess is a linux flash player problem...
Thank you and let me know if I can do anything to help.

No worries.  I appreciate the feedback, and just want to make sure I'm understanding the data that I'm collecting clearly.
We're aware that there are random short-lived problems that happen during transitions in and out of full-screen and scrubbing.  We have a number of bugs open on the engineering team around it.  In general, these are usually complex timing-related problem with a bunch of interrelated, moving parts (codec, network latency, buffering, stream quality, hardware, browser, etc).  They're really hard to debug.  It continues to be a big area of focus for both the dev and quality engineering teams, and something we're investing a lot of time and energy into improving.
Also, it's worth pointing out that we test a pretty large matrix of graphics cards, and we partner directly with many of the GPU vendors -- but there's a ton of fragmentation and we can't check every single card that's out there in the world.  If we see a bunch of bugs coming in about a particular configuration, we do our best to track the card down and take a look.
If you find instances where you're able to reproduce playback problems consistently, please file a bug.  Include a direct link to the video/videos that you can consistently reproduce the video problems with, and include the output of dxdiag (or the graphics card info from the System Information tool on Mac).  OS and Browser versions are also very useful.
I'm not personally involved in the work around PPAPI for Flash Player, but we have a whole team working on building a great experience for Chrome and Pepper.  Disabling PepperFlash where it's enabled will generally cause Chrome to fall back to the stanadard NPAPI-based Flash Player instead.  Keep an eye out for announcements about preview releases for Flash Player on PPAPI -- I'm sure the team will appreciate your feedback once they become available.
