Detected Graphics Processor Quadro 4000 vs ATI 5770

Hey there,
I'm in Photoshop CC on a mac tower.  I've got a quadro 4000 installed as well as a Radeon 5770.  Just updated the latest NVIDIA drivers.  In Photoshop under detected graphics processor it's saying it sees the Radion HD 5770 OpenGL Engine.  Is there a way to see both cards? Will it make a difference?
I only noticed because my graphics processor wasn't working and I had to reinstall drivers.
Thanks

May I ask how are you using both cards? Do you have a monitor hooked up to each card? How do you tell your apps which card to hook up with or is it automatic?
I don't have this setup anymore as I'm using a modified GTX570 in my Mac Pro now.  It's far faster than either of the aforementioned.  But, when I had both in, I was only using the nVidia for card-specific work.  In other words: just Premiere Pro.  I had an LCD panel connected to each of the cards, and the nVidia was the primary display.  At no point did I ever stress the ATI.

  • Okay to run Quadro 4000 and ATI 5770 in MacPro?

I have switched from FCP to Premiere CS6 but still use Apple motion for graphics and titles. Unfortunately the Nvidia Quadro 4000 performs pitifully in Motion so I was hoping to run both cards at the same time and get the best of both worlds if possible.
Anyone else try this mad experiment?
I have both cards but wanted to ask first before I embark on this journey...

  • After choosing the graphics card (Quadro 4000) as recommended by adobe  ..we have problems....

    http://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/rendering-opengl.html
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
After choosing the graphics card (Quadro 4000) and then adobe as the partner the following applicatons are shown. I have noticed that the only CS6 product is the Premiere Pro CS6 but we do use the whole Adobe Master Suite.
Can Adobe please provide clarification on what version of driver is required for the Adobe Master Suite CS6 when using the Quadro 4000 graphics card in windows 7 64bit (pro)
We are having constant problems with crashing programs ACROSS the SUITE,unsee-able footage, drop frames on outputs( reguardless of WHAT SETTINGS.) and system lock ups. All  codecs are on board ,Our I T staff and production staff are pulling their hair out as one conflict /problem is resolved , another is created somewhere else.
have tired latest  recommended drivers and rolled back  a few. still NO resolution.
THe systm   has,at adobe 's tech recommendations, had adobe cleaner remove ALL and cloud has reinstalled all of the master suite. still no resolution.

This could be a combination of factors or a bad Quadro card of which I would not be surprised. You may want to contact me direct on this one so I can remote in and see what is going on.

  • Detected graphic processor: nothing detected

When I go to Preferences/Performance in the Detected Graphic Processor field is empty. I have a "Standars VGA Graphics Adapter".
Is that not compatible with photoshop. According to the Device Manager, the driver is updated with the latest version (if that counts anything at all).
My question is: should I purchase a new GPU? or another driver? how much is that important to be anything there? how to make it visible if it is essential?
I am a complete beginner. Thanks for your opinion in advance.

    Hi,
I notice a couple things from your system info. You don't have the latest updates; Here's more info on what fixes are provided:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2013/11/photoshop-cs6-13-0-5mac-13-0-1-2win-perpetu al-license-updates-now-available.html
Second, and more directed at the error message you're seeing, you have 2 video cards which both have older drivers. Since this is a laptop, you may be stuck with having to rely on Asus to publish any updates. Go to Asus first and see if they have updates that are newer. You might also want to check both Intel and nVidia to see if they have drivers that are compatible. Your looking for driver for the Intel HD integrated GPU and the Nvidia GeForce 310M discrete GPU.

  • Power available for GPU/graphics card/Quadro 4000

I need to upgrade to a Quadro 4000 GPU in order to use DaVinci Resolve on my Mac Pro.  DaVinci needs to graphics cards for full operation: the Quadro to process video and another card to actually run the displays (an Apple 30" Cinema Display and a 21" DVI monitor).
Any of the decently powerful cards I'm looking at require power from the mainboard -- which has two power outlets.  The Quadro 4000 requires both of them.
Is there another power source available somewhere inside the computer to run this second graphics card?  Or perhaps someone can suggest a good solid graphics card to run the two displays that does not require power?

And your Mac running OS X will not accept the Quadro 4000.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H3314LL/A
Same card on Amazon for $790 with MacPro3,1 or later
    http://www.amazon.com/PNY-DisplayPort-Profesional-Graphics-VCQ4000MAC-PB/dp/B004 CRS78O/
There are some helpful comments there like this one:
i work in 3D visual effects, post production, and graphics.
this video card works fantastic under Windows 7. the Windows drivers for the Quadro are finely tuned and allow particular applications to take full advantage of the video card.
under OS X, the card is NOT worth the premium cost. my ATI 5870 performs better in applications that the Quadro 4000 is suppose to work better with. for the life of me, i can't understand why Nvidia/Apple can't get these drivers right under OS X. its the same story, Quadro release after Quadro release. Nvidia and Apple just don't seem to care. my current 2010 12-core Mac Pro might be my very last Apple desktop. i just can't justify the Apple tax anymore if Apple isn't going to provide basic stuff professionals need. it just seems like Apple is drifting farther and farther away from the professional market.....so disappointing.
another extremely annoying thing is that i can't have my ATI 5870 and Quadro 4000 running at the same time. the Mac Pro only has two 6-pin power cables!!!! what's with that!! are you kidding me??!!
So you need to look at a new Mac. Or running Windows. Or... something.
2008 brought with it EFI64 / UEFI which is what you would need right now. Had you waited back when you did buy your Mac Pro until March 2008.... you would really have been set as far as usiing Quadro or GTX 285 and having 64-bit EFI.  I just think this is another of those times.
Not everyone is ready to and running Lion, but Lion does have some support for the GTX 580, which is more power.

This: support for GTX cards even in MacPro1,1 if you have 10.7,3
    http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,1897.0.html
Why wait? Ivy Bridge from Intel in April will and has to arrive someday on Apple's desktop.
the GTX 680 arrives on 23rd, and AMD has their new line of GPUs, so something there.
Your GTX 285 no matter what, unless the seller isn't what he/you say they are, should work in Windows, Mac OR PC. I've used GTX 260 in my Mac Pro and in a PC with X58.
Vendors are coming out with Thunder storage arrays more so now, more for laptops and other systems, but there and using optical.
Given your needs etc I would find someone that wants your system and PowerPC etc and part with it. If you can't wait, or don't want "1.0" and want solid mature and known hardware, pick up one (you could even get the $2100 2.8 4-core ref'd model and do the W3680  6-core 3.33GHz  $599 yourself.
www.macperformanceguide.com has a number of tips. The guy is now running 100% SSDs with a pair of PCIe controllers populated with 1TB SSD modules on each, and 48GB RAM. 2010 lets you use 3 x 8 or 16GB RAM also.

  • Photoshop CC can't detect graphics processor

Hi, I have an Hp pavilion desktop with a intel hd 4600. Whenever I open a psd I will get a dialog box explaining how I don't have sufficient vRAM. When I use the mouse to make brushstrokes, I can hear a squeaking coming from my computer. When I look at my performance  PS doesn't detect the graphics card, but just recently it showed up when I select: use graphics processor. However, sometimes after selecting use graphics processor the program will say it stopped working and quit.

also I am using windows 8.1

Recover from your backup, and if you don't have a backup, install an older version of Mac OS X on a second hard drive installed on your system and boot off that.    You can request the Apple Store support to make available 10.8.0, and you can install the 10.8.4 combo on top of that, if that was what you were last running.   For a listing of combo updates, see my FAQ*.
Do not attempt to install 10.8.0 to 10.8.4 on top of 10.8.5 as some applications designed only for 10.8.5 may not work with 10.8.4 or earlier.
Contact nVidia and make them aware of your issue.  Only upgrade once they have verified 10.8.5 compatibility.

  • Quadro 4000 causing kernel panics, 2010 mac pro

    Had this happen twice now.
Running a quadro 4000 card (brand new).
    it's in sot 16x
    setup is:
    slot 1: 5770 ati
    slot 2: quadro 4000
    slot 3: sonnet 4ep
    slot 4: RED ROCKET
i've had this happen twice now, once I was in resolve and it crashed.. booted back up and the quadro 4000 card wasn't showing up in profiler anymore. took it out, re seated it and then it was fine.
2nd time I was in preview lookign at some pictures and the computer crashed, causing the reboot and again, the card has vanished from profiler.
I'm on a job right now shooting RED so I don't require it but would like to get to the bottom of this, latest CUDA drivers installed. Is there some sort of software I can run to see if the card is kapoot? needs replacing?
    thanks guys.

  • Premiere Pro running slow with Quadro 4000 on Mac-Pro

Hi Forum, I could really use some help.
I recently upgraded to CS6 abnd have been having major speed issues in Premiere Pro ever since. At the time I was running with an ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB and using CS5.5 with no issues.
After installing CS6 my Premiere Pro projects just slowed to a crawl. After doing some hasty research online i "upgraded" to the Quadro 4000 for Mac. It made the applications usable but still frustratingly slow. Exporting projects either directly from Premiere Pro or through Media Encoder is 2-3 times slower than before. I'm ready to ditch CS6 and go back to CS5.5 if necessary as it is serioulsy impacting my productivity.
Any advice on fixing this issue would be greaty appreciated. Hardware, work-flow, software recommendations? I'll take it all!
I also use two Mac monitors (only one of which is hooked up as I am awaiting the arrival of a converter to hook the second to the DVI-I) and would like to use 3 but I cannot run the ATI card at the same time as the Quado as there are only two power supply sources in the mac-pro housing.
My projects typically look like this:
    Project Settings:
    Quicktime DV NTSC
    Codec: DV25 NTSC
    720x480
    Raw sequence:
4 video tracks where I'll align my different camera angles to their correct time markers.
    MTS Format 1080p
    Multi-cam Equence:
Camera edits from the raw sequence:
    Effects Sequence:
Layers for on screen graphis, music etc.
    1 Voice track
    2-3 music tracks (mp3)
    1-2 photoshop layers
effects track (black video fade in and out perhaps, sometimes I'll have a timer sequence dropped in here for on screen countdown).

  • Photoshop CS6 no longer detects graphics driver

    Hello,
For some reason, most of the GPU features in photoshop (scrubby zoom, 3d, etc) no longer works for me. When I checked in the Preference->Performance tab, nothing shows up on the "Detected Graphics Processor" tab. I have no idea what could've caused it other than a crash, and a windows 8.1 update. It used to work just fine, and now it just won't detect the driver no matter what.
I run Windows 8.1 64bit with NVIDIA GeForce GT720M as my graphics card. I believe my resolution/other specs are not a problem, since as I've said before it used to work just fine before the crash.
I have tried updating the driver, rollbacking the driver, updating it again, tinkering with the NVIDIA control panel, reinstalling photoshop, resetting photoshop preferences, everything. Nothing changed.
When I tried running the sniffer_gpu.exe, however, I was met with this message:
Could not connect. Error code = 0x80041002
    Vendor string:         NVIDIA Corporation
    Renderer string:     GeForceGT720M/PCIe/SSE2
    Version string:        2.1.2
OpenGL version as determined by extensionator...
    OpenGL Version 2.0
    Has NPOT support: TRUE
Has Framebuffer Object Extension support: TRUE
    OpenGL ok
Does the error code has anything to do with it? I tried updating the driver multiple times and it persists, and I've also tried renaming the sniffer_gpu.exe itself
Help would be much appreciated.. I've tried everything I could find online and nothing helped. Do tell if you need more info regarding my device. Thank you.

No, I've been using win 8.1 all along and it worked fine at first. One day the OS just froze though, forcing me to do a forced reset (pressing the power button). I don't really know if that was the cause, but it's one of the only 'major' things that happened that could've possibly caused the problem. That, or a win8.1 update.
I have just tried fixing registries too, but to no avail. I tried updating nvidia to the newest version, rollbacking and updating again, but I have actually yet to reinstall nvidia. I guess I'm going to do that now...
Edit: I missed some lines on the sniffer_gpu.exe output
OpenGL ok, version 1.1 CUDA 4.2.1
    Return code: 3

  • Upgrading Mac Pro (2009) from to NVIDIA Quadro 4000, what PCI slot to use ?

I am upgrading my Mac Pro (2009) from the Nvidia GT120 (stock) to the Nvidia Quadro 4000 for Mac. The GT120 was installed in the PCI Slot #1 and I would like to install the Nvidia Quadro 4000 in the PCI Slot #2, that way the Fan in the Graphics Card (Quadro 4000) will have better air circulation, is there any limitation or recommendation regarding the PCI slot to use ?, thanks a lot

I have an early Mac Pro 3,1.
The user manual I downloaded states:
    Slot 1 PCI Express 2.0 16-lane
    Slot 2 PCI Express 2.0 16-lane
So I'm assuming that means both slots 1 and 2 are the same and it doesn't matter which of my two graphics cards go in which slots?
Also, my second graphics card is a Quadro 4000 which is for Adobe Applications that use the CUDA engine. I don't have any monitors hooked up to it.

  • CS6 doesn't recognize the graphic processor of my NVidia G610 board.

PSCS6 shows the Clone tool transfer images so it is using Open Gl from my NVidia g610 graphics card but in "preferences" it shows no detected graphics processor in the performance window and therefore I cannot access the Hue wheel. How can I correct this?

For all who requested it, here is my system info from CS6 (sans serial #)

  • ATI 8800 vs. Quadro 4000 / 5000 Rendering Speed

    Fellow Forum Members,
I'm building a system to run Premiere Pro at an optimum level.  However, the conflict I'm encountering relates to Quad Monitor Support.  Every single CUDA card offered by Nvidia (i.e., GTX 580, Quadro 4000, 5000, 6000) seem to only offer Dual monitor support.  The third mini HDMI port is worthless since it doesn't run together with the two DVI ports.  Not happy with Nvidia about this decision.
I'm building a Windows 7 64 bit system and It's my understanding that if I want to run Premiere Pro CS5 using the Mercury engine to speed  up rendering, then the only game in town is an Nvidia Quadro graphics card.  I wouldn't have a problem with this only if Nvidia would offer a video card with Quad Monitor support like ATI does with the 8800 card they sell.
So my question is, "Does Premiere Pro render at the same speed on an ATI 8800 card vs. a Quadro 4000/5000?"  If the answer is yes, then I'm buying the ATI 8800 since this card supports  4 monitors.  If the answer is that the ATI 8800 is slightly slower with rendering, then I'm still buying an ATI 8800 since a slight difference in rendering doesn't matter that much to me.   However, if the answer is that Premiere Pro rendering on an ATI 8800 is serioiusly handicapped.  Then I have a problem, since I really want Quad monitor support and Premiere Pro to render fast.
I hope to hear back from Premiere Pro users that have used Premiere Pro on platforms equipped with ATI 8800 and / or Nvidia 4000, or 5000.  Did you notice any performance change between ATI 8800 and Quadros? Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,
I was wondering if you have found an alternative solution to buying two quadros. I once came across a post in the nvidia forums about putting a Geforce Card and a Quadro in the same machine...
Also, I've seen that GeForces don't need to be in SLI to give you more than 2 monitors but you will need more than one card. Two cards in SLI will only support 2 monitors while a third card can support another 2. giving you 4 ports. As seen on the link, you might be able to pull of up to 6.
Alternatively, there is the Quadro NVS cards that have up to 4 display ports.
    Hope this helps!
Heaven forbid SLI and Premiere together, do not even think about it.
    Here is my suggestion.
Just for you I tried adding a GTX 550 Ti to my system which has a GTX 580.  I had two monitors on my GTX 580 and while I did not have two more spare monitor I did have of additional 1920 x 1200 monitor.  I powered up and it found and installed another driver for the GTX 550 Ti, I do not know why it did not install a second copy of the 267.59 driver but installed 266.58.  It all worked I then had three surfaces all connected and then I ran our PPBM5 benchmark and it was not affected by the the addition of the second board.  By default it used the CUDA of the first board.  Of course I cannot guarantee other drivers or other GPU's or for that matter other motherboards. Make sure you have lots of power available I would not mix Quadros and GeForce boards and why would you want to anyway.  After all that I suspect that when you add the other realtime software you probably will ruin any editing capability you might of had.
I just took a look at the prices, the two board nVidia solution is about half the cost of your ATI V8800 solution!

  • I need to connect my LED cinema display to nvidia quadro 4000 graphics card

I cant find any adapter to connect my "LED cinema display" to the brand new graphics card "nvidia quadro 4000 (for Mac pro)"
As i coldnt find any information since now, ihope someone can give me a hint.

They included the wrong DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter.  The correct adapter should have a female Mini DisplayPort connector, not male.  You could buy the correct adapter or you could add a F-F Mini DisplayPort coupler

Try calling the, and asking for the correct adapter.  They fo say:
"Connect to mini-DisplayPort displays through the included adapter cable"

I get the following message when I open Photoshop: Photoshop detected graphics hardware that is not officially supported...which asks me to "uncheck the use Graphics Processor...but there is no Graphics Processor to check ?????? What do I need to do? I have ignored this in the past and Photoshop seems to work OK but still I wonder why this opens every time I start Photoshop. Thanks for considering my question.:>)

As you can see use Graphics Processor is NOT checked. Now what? And a special thanks for answering me about this. :>)
