Detecting Data has left serial buffer

I'm developing a vi using Labview 5.1 to control an RS 485 network where the PC running labview or a built application polls a series or devices which then reply.
I'm using In Port to check when the vi has finished transmitting and this works on the PC using to develop the application but when the application was built and put on the pc to be used for testing then I always read nothing on the port.
The application has been tried out now on 5 machines, 4 running NT 4 and 1 running win 98 and it fails on two of the NT machines.
The only thing that relates the successful tests is that the machines all have full versions of Labview on them as well as the run time engine and the 2 that "failed" have only the r
un time engine.
At the moment the only solution I have is to stop checking this and add in a wait for a few milliseconds after writing to the port but this obviously isn't the best solution.

You've probably already tried this, but I can say it anyway;
I've had a similar problem once, except with NI-DAQ communication, and it turned out that I had forgotten to include the nessecary drivers with either the run-time version or the application builder(it's been quite some time, so I don't remember which one). Anyway, if you haven't tried this, I suggest you make sure you have all necessary drivers included in the executable (or run-time engine) and see if that helps any.

  • Detecting the SAVE of the data to the planning buffer

    Hi,
    When the user has saved the planning buffer data after executing the planning function that has the Exit FM, how can I detect that the data from the planning buffer has been saved from my Exit FM?
    Is there a way to detect that he user has clicked on the SAVE button to save the data in the planning buffer?
    Thanks,
    RT

    Hi Rob,
    A non standard functionality may be to create a custom FM that is called in the exit. Then, you will notice the save inside the custom FM and do what you want and then call the SAP Standard FM to save data.
    Hope it helps.

  • Time Machine has left me in the past!

    I recently had a mac genius re-install my OS due to poor performance and too many glitches to name them all. I was confident in my time machine back-ups since I could see the clock moving everyday on my tool bar. After my OS was re-installed, I connected to my external hard drive and can only see files from November. Nothing else. Am I just ******** or is there something I'm doing wrong? I have only had a few hiccups in my 10+ years using a mac but they have been huge ones. Does anyone out there have a solution to this or has it happened to anyone else? Time machine has left me in the past, November 07 to be exact and I need to be in May 08! Someone please help!!!!

    Double-click the drive icon, then double click the "Backups.backupdb" folder. Double-click your old computer's name, and scroll down to the bottom, and look at the most recent date. That most recent date is the most recent TM has.
    Good luck!

  • Analog Node samples once every 5 secs and transmits straightaway- How do I know data has arrived at the gateway ?

    Hi,
       My analog node is set to sample at a certain frequency, say once every 5 seconds. How do I know that the data has arrived at the gateway from the VI on my computer ? Is there an event listener for incoming data ? Really appreciate if someone can enlighten me on this.  Thank you very much !
    Regards,
    Xinke

    Hello Xinke
    Thank you for your post, please correct me if I have misunderstood but from your description it sounds like you are looking to detect that the data is being transferred correctly from your device to the PC.
    In the LabVIEW example finder there is a section on DAQmx events under the hardware heading, I recommend that you look here, the title of the example is Acq&Graph Voltage-Int Clk-EveryN&DoneEvent, I also recommend that you play with this vi to see how you can use the events with DAQmx.
    Another way to check that your task is functioning correctly would be to create a Boolean indicator for the error status, I have created a small section of code that illustrates this.
    If you have any further questions, please get in touch.

    # Question
    Ever since I got the "new & improved" Firefox, I have had all kinds of problems the latest of which has left me without toolbars. How can I get back to the previous version? edit
    IS THIS A GAME?
    WHAT DETAILS DO YOU NEED?
    THE COMPUTER HAS WORKED FINE
    WITH THE OLD MOZILLA FIREFOX
    FOR YEARS.
    NO CHANGES HERE IN ANYTHING ELSE.

    Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Plugins and disable the following:<br><br>
    * Fun Web Products Plugin<br><br>
    * My Web Search<br><br>
    Both of these are adware/spyware and cause performance issues in Firefox.
    Next, click the Extensions menu link (above Plugins where you are) and remove the "Ask Toolbar".
    If the problem persists, please do the following:<br><br>
    #Click '''Help '''| '''Restart with Add-ons disabled'''.<br><br>
    #In the next menu which appears, checkmark: "'''Reset toolbars and Controls'''".<br><br>
    #Finally, click the button called "'''Make changes and restart'''".
    Just in case you weren't aware of it, you can right click the Back or Forward buttons to get a list of sites visited. If you'd like to see the return of the arrow on the Back button, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
    Last but not least, some of your plugins are seriously out of date which exposes your system to exploits. Please visit the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update where necessary.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
    iChat in this case was connected (Even if you didn't actually see a Pic)
    The most likely cause is a feature on the router or modem at one end that cuts the port that the Video data is one because it thinks it is an Attack.
    Look for Denial Of Service (DoS) this is threshold based and cuts in when it see "Too Much Data, Too Quickly".
    It was designed to stop Web Server being brought down with lots of simultaneous attempt to get to the Web servers pages.
    However iChat Video data over modern connections can often exceed that.
    If the Computer that has 192.168.1.100 is connected to a Linksys device turn the Firewall Off in the Security page as this includes DOS And SPI which works very similar.
    I am not sure about the computer at the other end.
    192.168.0.xxx is used by several manufacturers making it hard to guess.
    If it happens to be a Netegear this hads either DOS or SPI in the WAN set up page

  • JTabel, detecting data changes

    Hi,
    I am new to the JTable component... I have set up a JTabel which displays some sample information. I have to display results I get from one of my methods... There is the Swing/JTable tutorial at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/table.html#modelchange ("Detecting Data Changes"), however, the necessary code has been removed from the tutorial! I hope you can help me...
    I have set up the following table:
    public class InfoDialog extends JDialog {
         String[] columnNames = {"Type", "Value"};
         Object[][] data = {
                   {"Angle", "90"},
                   {"Speed", "50"},
         public InfoDialog() {
              Container cp = this.getContentPane();
              setLayout(new BoxLayout(cp, BoxLayout.PAGE_AXIS));
              JTable table = new JTable(data, columnNames);
              table.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
              JPanel tablePanel = new JPanel();
              tablePanel.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
              tablePanel.add(table.getTableHeader(), BorderLayout.PAGE_START);
              tablePanel.add(table, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    (...)From one of my other classes, GameStart, one of the methods, calculateAngle, returns the measured angle. I would like to display this result in the appropriate cell.
    In the Swing tutorial I just can read "You can see the code for that method in [PENDING: The Bingo example has been removed.]"
    So I am a little bit confused. I think I have to first extend AbstractTableModel, then I have something to do with fireTableCellUpdated... Can you maybe show me a working example or is this "Bingo example" from the Swing available elsewhere?
    Thanks for your help!

    so I can't extend AbstractTableModel... Why are you trying to do this?I first followed the example given by Sunan.N (reply #6).
    Here is a complete working example:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threa
    dID=566133Thanks for this example. As a newbie I still have one problem: how can I set the a new value? I use the table.getModel().setValueAt(...) method... but which code goes into the tableChanged method and which into the setValueAt method?
    Here is my code:
    public class InfoDialog extends JDialog implements TableModelListener {
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
         public JTable table;
            String[] columnNames = {"Type", "Value"};
         Object[][] data = {
                   {"Angle", "90"},
                   {"Speed", "50"},
         public InfoDialog {
              Container cp = this.getContentPane();
              setLayout(new BoxLayout(cp, BoxLayout.PAGE_AXIS));
              Dimension dim_topPanel = new Dimension(300, 150);
              JPanel topPanel = new JPanel();
              topPanel.setPreferredSize(dim_topPanel);
              topPanel.setBackground(Color.YELLOW);
              DefaultTableModel model = new DefaultTableModel(rowData, columnNames);
              model.addTableModelListener(this);
              table = new JTable(model);
              table.setPreferredScrollableViewportSize(table.getPreferredSize());
              JPanel tablePanel = new JPanel();
              tablePanel.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
              tablePanel.add(table.getTableHeader(), BorderLayout.PAGE_START);
              tablePanel.add(table, BorderLayout.CENTER);
              cp.add(topPanel);
              cp.add(tablePanel);
              setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(false);
              try {
                   UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
              } catch(Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              setResizable(false);
              setDefaultCloseOperation(DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
              pack();
              setLocationRelativeTo(null);
              setVisible(true);
         public void tableChanged(TableModelEvent e) {
              System.out.println("Table change");
         public void setValueAt(Object aValue, int row, int column) {
    }What do I have to do to change, e.g., "Speed" from 50 to 60? I call the setValueAt method like this: table.getModel().setValueAt(60, 2, 2); but what do I have to write into my setValueAt method? I thought that my table will automatically change the value when calling the setValueAt method...?
    The tableChanged method is being called when a value in my table changes... OK, but what should I do with this method? I just would like to set a new value...
    :confused:

  • Serial not detected, and cannot register serial.. .need a manual

    Hi! I am new to the IPod World... now, I have a big problem: if I want to fetch a manual from the IPod webpage, I am asked for a serial number. Everytime I enter the one on the back of my computer: 2CD5240X0R, it does say that this number is not a valid serial number. If I use the automatic detection, , it says no serial found.
    If I want to register this Ipod with apple, it says that this serial number is not valid ("Enter a valid serial number). [I even tried it with "-1" as suffix)..
    Now, I would need a manual for this Ipod, and since my serial number is not accepted and I do not know which modell it is, not even the generation - within the Ipod, when I ask for the about, it says Modell PS492AAABA - how can I proceed? It has a color display, 30 GB, can load pictures, and the serial is as suggested.
    Can someone tell me what to do? I do not know how to contact apple.. and I do not know how to manually find out what Ipod it is (5th gen? or some other)...
    Many thanks!

  • Co3 error activation date has passed

    Hi all I'm having problems with vision everytime i reboot the box that was delivered yesterday i get the c03 error i tried calling call centre there usless keep saying i promise it will come on it takes time but my activation date has now pass im starting to wish i never left virgin now any ideas how i can watch tv

    Hi,
    1. A C03 error means your Vision account has not been set up correctly at BTs end.
    2. A c02 error means the box tried to upgrade its software and failed. This 99% probably happened because of point 1.
    Get the Mods on it. They are very helpful.

  • Java.io.IOException:Data has already been flushed to the client

    hi,
    will u please anyone tell about this exception? its very urgent to me?
    i am getting exception when i ma forwarding a page in jsp.
    exception is :
    java.io.IOException : Data has already been flushed to the client.
    my code where i am getting this exception is:
    if(filled_var .equalsIgnoreCase("y"))
    %>
    <jsp:forward page="/editForm.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="formNum" value="<%= formNum%>"/>
    </jsp:forward>
    <%
    here i am getting that error. please help me to find a solution in this.

    A forward can only be performed if the "response is not committed". The response is committed when:
    1) you do a forward
    2) enough data is outputted for the buffer to be flushed
    3) you flush the buffer manually (or you do an include with a flush="true" for example)
    It must be either 2 or 3 in the case of a JSP. So if you output a lot of data before the forward, make sure you try to do the forward BEFORE you output all that data.

    Hi
    if you want to get any higher data rates (802.11n) you have to configure WPA2/AES & not TKIP
    dot11 ssid BE-WAP1
       vlan 15
       authentication open
       authentication key-management wpa version 2
       guest-mode
       wpa-psk ascii 7 password
    interface Dot11Radio0
     encryption vlan 15 mode ciphers aes-ccm
     no encryption vlan 15 mode ciphers tkip
     ssid BE-WAP1
    Also enable 5GHz band as well. Then see if the problem occurs for both bands
    interface Dot11Radio1
     encryption vlan 15 mode ciphers aes-ccm
     ssid BE-WAP1
     channel width 40-above
     no shut
    interface Dot11Radio0.15
     encapsulation dot1Q 15 native
     bridge-group 1
    HTH
    Rasika

  • A clean install on my MacBook Pro has left my icons stuck on the right side of the desktop. I want to move them but there is no 'None' option which I think would free them to move where I wish. Suggestions?

    A clean install on my MacBook Pro has left me with my icons stuck in the grid on the right side of my desktop. I had the ability to move them and have them stay put in various sectors of the desktop, which I found very useful.  The clean install upgraded the OS to 10.6.8 from 10.5.8. I want to move them again but there I see no 'None' option which I think would free them to move where I wish. Has the upgrade deleted that option? Suggestions? I am new to this community and if not new to Mac, I often feel that way. This is one of those times.

    I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.

  • How to insert data into a table only when data has changed its value (when compared to the previous inserted value)

    I wish to insert data into a table only when the value of the inserted data has changed. Thus, in a time series, if the value of the data at time, t-1, is 206 then if the data to be inserted at time t is 206, then it is skipped (not entered).
    If the value of the data at time t+1 is 206, it is skipped also; until the value changes, so if the value at t+1 was 205, then that would be inserted, and if at time t+2 the data is 206, it would be inserted too.
    What is the best way to do it without increasing overheads?

    This view works:
    SELECT
    i.IDNO,i.[Date],i.[Level]
    FROM
    mytable i
    INNER
    JOIN mytable
    d
    ON
    d.IDNO
    = i.IDNO-1
    WHERE
    i.[Level]
    <> d.[Level]
    on this mytable below.  A trigger could be quite useful here although I am cautious using them. However I wish to avoid the overhead by not having a temp table (which could be sizable).  mytable below
    should give 3 lines. The IDNO is an identity column.

    since doing the 7.0.4 update i notice that my mobile data has doubled and i am running out of data mid month.  I've disabled apps s not many running.  Any suggestions?

    I am having the same issue even with the newer 7.1. I have a 1-100 KB data push on both my husdand's and my phone every hour on the hour (i.e. my will be at :23 of the hour and his will be at :13 of the hour and it will change). This is whether we are on a WIFI and with all apps, background refreshes, push notifications, etc turned OFF.

  • Itunes match; a) if incorrect genre etc data has been uploaded to icloud, cannot delete it or replace the track/ data b) now have 9k tracks "stuck" in icloud and cannot delete them no matter what I do. eh?

    Hi
    I;m having so itunes match issues.
    I ran itunes match. I';ve since foumd, I think:
    a) if incorrect genre etc data has been uploaded to icloud, I cannot find how to delete it and reupload correct song and data. I am presently assuming that once songs are matched, the meta-data, genre, etc etc thats uploaded is now treated as 'the master' by itunes.
    Question: if I want to change the genre on a track, whats the correct way to overwrite the data held in the icloud? if I delete the track i just bring down the old incorrect genres again!
    b) I've deleted from the icloud all my music tracks (select all, delete, Y to delete tracks from icloud). I have turned off itunes match on my ipad, iphone, appletv mac and windows pc. I've deleted the itunes library files too from mac and pc in desperation. But hours /days later, when I turn on itunes match on mac or pc, it tells me i still have 9k tracks in icloud. All with the old, wrong meta-data ready to mess up my [now-corrected]  files back on my pc!
    I cannot delete them no matter what I do. The number of tracks in the cloud was 12k, now 9k so its reducing, by about 1500 tracks a day.
    does it really take itunes servers that long to delete the tracks I've asked it to delete, or am i seeing garbage data?
    is there a quicker way of deleting all my itunes match library, songs and data?

    Thanks for the helpful replies.
    My original intention was to 'upgrade' some of my tracks. In those cases, I'd iTunes matched, and the process was completed.
    I later downloaded those new tracks but found during that process, the tracks I was downloading had the old metadata.
    I guess the idea there is to update the local genres, 'update iTunes match' and wait. How long, I don't know but that's the current solution,yes ?
    Thing is I was trying to get my local library updated and, as I thought it, back in order, but was finding my local genre updates were being overwritten. I had a lot of tracks that kept on stating they could be downloaded so I thought the new files hadn't been copied down...
    I think I was trying to get match to do too many things at once.
    Deleting my tracks in the cloud? Was an act of desperation to start over with all known good genres locally and to re- upload, start over. I'd read in some forum or other to do that, I guess that was wrong,
    Ok so I will.. Err,
    A  wait and see how long it takes to delete my tracks in the cloud ie let it complete the process I'd already started.
    B  Correct my local tracks genres
    C  Wait til those changes propagate up to the iCloud ( or whatever the right term is)
    Q1: How long should I wait for A and C to complete?
    Q2: Is it 100% definite that local genre changes will get copied up to the cloud, when I 'update iTunes match'?
    I don't see any animated cloud icon, but I will watch for it!
    Thanks again
    Iain
