Detecting if an app bsp is running like an iview in a EP 6.4

Hello, i want to know if there is some way besides checking the attribute runtime->portal_version ,to find out if a bsp app is running in the portal like an iview or is running outside the portal (standalone). Thanx in advance

alternate method (you should however try to find why runtime->portal_version is not working)
when creating the BSP iview pass the following as the iview application parameter
<b>pversion=<Portal.Version></b> (case sensitive)
in your BSP page have a page attribute (with auto checked) called pversion type string .
When this application is called from portal pversion will have value like <b>6.4.200505031729</b> and when called from outside pversion will be blank.
This way you can find out whether the BSP application is called from portal or not.

Can you see which apps are open and/or running like you can on an android phone by going to settings applications running services?

thank you for the help. I should have said I had a iphone 3. A friend has the same phone and she showed me how she can see what web pages are open when she double taps the home button. Mine is set to bring up favourites when I double tap (chosen from settings>general>home button).. BUT my choices are only HOME; SEARCH; PHONE FAVORITES; CAMERA or IPOD. I changed my choice to HOME but that just defeats the purpose as when I am at the home page and double tap nothing happens. Am I making sense?

I am still seeing the option Image Capture, like shown in the screenshot that Rysz posted. But it is another example of the hide-and-seek Apple likes to play with us.
The option has to be set for each device individually. With the device connected to USB, you have to click the tiny disclosure triangle in the lower left corner of the sidebar to reveal the option.
I was perfectly happy with the program I paid for (Aperture), and now to maintain the functionality I have to pay for another application (LightRoom) to get the functionality that I paid for in Aperture.
Aperture 3.6 is working well with Yosemite. I will use it, as long as I have a Mac, that will run Yosemite or a compatible system.
Have you looked at Capture One? It looks much more similar to Aperture than Lightroom.

That's definitely strange, kzmidge. I want a working phone in your hands though. I noticed you mentioned you received the suggestion to complete a reset. Did you already do that? Is it working again? Are you receiving an error message?
If you hesitated a little longer to complete the reset, you can try to place your phone into Safe Mode http://vz.to/rxg0ii and see if you can access mobile sites from your browser. This mode will stop 3rd party applications from running, so you won't be able to use the apps you mentioned but we may be able to narrow down the trouble in Safe Mode. If the mobile sites work, that means the trouble may be in a recently downloaded application and you may be able to avoid the reset my uninstalling some of your more recently installed applications. If it's still giving you trouble, the reset http://vz.to/18wzOCi is the next best step.

I'm thinking that you have a > Mac mini (Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications because the 2010 model's only have Core 2 Duo processors and the 2011 had the first i5 processor.
2 GB of RAM is the minimum requirement for Mountain Lion, but it's hardly enough to really enjoy doing anything else.

Plus I don't have any problems running Mountain Lion and a load of App's on my 2010 Mac Mini with 8GB of RAM.

I have heard this before but it never made any sense to me. For instance, If you have an 80GB hard drive you would need to keep at least 8GB free. If you only have a 20GB drive then a mere 2GB would be all that is required. Doesn't sound very logical.
So I set out to do an experiment. I have a 30GB drive with about half of it free. I then duplicated several folders (Users, Applications, and a few other small folders) until I only had 268MB free. That is less than 1 percent of the 30GB hard drive's size! Next I logged out and back in again and launched several apps, among them my web browser, Appleworks, Acrobat Reader, VLC, Handbrake and Mail. I opened a document in each of them so as to make sure that they had set up their temp files if any were required. With the Handbrake program I began ripping a DVD movie. Next I logged onto the Internet and started browsing as usual.
I was not able to discern any difference in the performance of my 1GHz ibook. The browser performed identically. Handbrake ripped the DVD at the same rate as always. Opening finder windows is just as quick as it has ever been. When doing a Get Info on the Hard Drive, I see that my free space has decreased from 268MB to 251MB. Appearantly the ibook is very happy with only 17MB of working room in spite of all the apps I have running.
Therefore my conclusion is that there is very little 'meat' in the "10 percent of your drive space needing to be free."
Maqybe there are situations that require more than the very few megabytes of free drive space that I seem to need, running the apps I run, but 10 percent of a 30GB drive is way overkill in my estimation. No discernable performance hit!

You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

HP Desk 2540 - app won't run on Microsoft Surface

Dowloaded 70MB worth of set up wizard for the HP Deskjet 2540 all in one and got message that my" pc cannot run this app and for other apps that can run on this pc please visit HP.COm app store". However, there are no other apps for this printer....
Does this mean that I will not be able to use the printer that I bought especially for my Surface Pro?

If you have the Surface Pro, I recommend installing the full feature software.
This will be exactly like installing a printer onto a regular windows 8.1 desktop.

You can also use the basic driver if you are concerned about space.
It will only install the print and scan software.

They should, but it's worthwhile checking with the App developer to see whether the application was optimised for iOS 4. You can usually find this out by checking the app's page within the AppStore.

Here is How you close out an iPhone app that is running in the background

How do you close out an iPhone app that is running in the background in the new iOS 4? We’ve had more than one reader ask this question since the launch of the new iPhone operating system, and the iPhone 4, last week. Some have asked about this due to battery drain concerns, and others just because they want to be able to shut down a backgrounded app.
So this seems as good a time as any to share a quick tip on how you can force apps to close in the new iOS 4.
There are two ways to fore an app to close down under iOS 4. The first is by doing a ‘force quit’ on the app, just as we have done under the previous version of the iPhone OS. To do this, you press and hold the power button while you are in the app you want to close down. Wait for the ‘Slide to power off’ bar appears across the top of the iPhone – then don’t hit Cancel, but instead just hold down the Home button continuously until the app closes and you drop back to the home screen.
The much easier method now available in iOS 4 is to use the Multitasking bar to close any app you want. Here’s how:
– Double tap the Home button to bring up the Multitasking bar
– Press and hold anywhere on the multitasking bar until the icons on it start to wiggle.
– While they are wiggling, each icon has a Minus sign symbol above it.
– Press the Minus symbol above any app to close it down.
That’s it. This will work for any app you want to close, including the Apple built-in apps like Mail and Safari etc.
Hope this quick tip is helpful to some of you who are getting to know iOS 4.

The apps on the bottom are recently accessed apps. Instead of closing when you exit the app they go into a suspended state, and will load faster when you next launch them. Unless they are a streaming app (like Pandora) they do not use any power when they appear in the active app list.

New Twitter app won't run?

After owning an iPhone since gen1 - I know how to do most anything on one...but the new Twitter app just won't start?
Got the update message in the iStore on the phone, d/l and then installed like always - there was no interupption to the
install either...
Now the app appears normal on the screen - I touch it to start - it darkens....for like 3 secs...then pops back to it's normal
bright color...and never ever starts.
Have uninstalled it, turned off iPhone, reinstalled it - same...
Have updated the iPhone OS too....done the same uninstalll, reinstall - same..
Have gone to Twitter in Safari, hav accepted the topbar where it says that I can install their mobile app....installed it again perfectly - same....
The Twitter mobile app will not run no matter what I do...
help here someone?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Can't run NMCAP on Server 2012 R2 - "This app can't run on your PC"

Hi all,
For some reason it would appear Microsoft have blocked NMCAP running on Windows 2012 R2 and 8.1 in the last week or so.
When running NMCAP at the command line I get "This app can't run on your PC"
Does anyone know how to get around this?

It seems to work on my Windows 8.1 machines as well, but nmcap won't won't run on any of our Server 2012 R2 machines now, it just gets blocked by SmartScreen. I can run Network Monitor ok.
It means I can't do things like this: nmcap.exe /network * /capture /file C:\nmcap\%computername%.chn:150M /TerminateWhen /KeyPress x
