Detecting the right embedded swf by looking at callbacks registered with External Interface
Hi,
I have a few embedded SWFs in a PDF document. I want to identify some of these SWFs (for further processing) and the only I can tell apart the SWFs I am interested in from the rest is the former set of SWFs have a function, say "mymethod", registered as a callback with the External Interface. Unfortunately, mymethod doesnt return anything (i.e. return type is void), and executing a callAS("mymethod", param1, param2,...) on the SWF object(precisely, the rich media annotation object) returns me "undefined". "undefined" is also returned for SWFs which DO NOT have "mymethod" registered as a callback. So, seemingly, the return value of callAS() doesnt make a distinction between function that is not registered and a function that returns void.
Note that I cannot change the SWFs.
Is there another way to do this ? Maybe a way to obtain the list of registered callbacks for a SWF? Or, am i doing something wrong?
Here are two performance charts comparing the Mercury Elite drive to the Elite AL.
Mercury Elite
Mercury Elite AL
Based on those I would go for the AL, and it is slightly cheaper.
It's funny how the Neptune drive has nearly the same speeds as the mobile 100GB Mercury drive.
One reason I would go for a mobile drive is I travel to Europe or another part of the world at least once a year and having a power adaptor AND a converter for the different plugs is a bit too much to carry. The mobile drive is bus powered allowing me to buy just the Apple adaptors for my computer.
Shazza makes a good point, but 5400RPM would be satisfactory for me considering my PB's internal drive is a 4200 .
Tuttle is right on, if it is a desktop drive FW800 would be nice, and a mobile drive FW400. I assume the AL drives are similar to the normal Elite drives, yours are pleasing I understand?
Jeff Hoogmoed, are you talking about getting an internal laptop or desktop drive and using an enclosure?
JDee, I still am not sure about getting either a mobile or desktop drive. I have backed up DVDs to my PB which I enjoy watching, I would move them to a desktop drive but sometimes I like to view them while sitting on my bed. I find myself mobile frequently enough that I would not go for a desktop G5 in your scenario. I guess my problem is that I want the value of a desktop drive, mobile.
Thanks to everyone for the quick replies.

I have a IMac - Mac OSX version 10.4 and présently i see only verticals lines on my desktop and my mouse, i mean the arrow and still mouving but with a little square with vertical lines at the right. This appened when i was talking with a friend on Skype, by error i did click on the video and slowly the vertical lines appeared and covered all ma desktop. Since then, it still there and the only things i see it is the vertical lines and the arrow with the little square.
How can i fix this problem ?
Réjeanne BlouinHello, sounds like Video card and/or heat problems.
Have you blown the dust out lately? Let it cool for an hour or so.

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode). -
I use "Adobe Sound Booster CS5"
I have a stereo soundtrack, which I only want to remove noise in only one channel (right).
How do I share / unlink the right and left channel, so I can work with them individually ?When Soundbooth was first developed, it had a few extra things than what were not available in Audition. However, Audition remained the more high end sound editing tool. Soundbooth was locked to a multiple channel editing approach. In Audition, single editing is easy - you simply click the L or R at the right end of the sound channel to lock it and then you can edit the other channel only.
Soundbooth has been discontinued and Audition now has taken its place from CS6 to the Creative Cloud.
The above is some background info. To your current situation, you can use a workaround like:
* Export your audio file to separate channels by File > Export > Channels to mono files.
You will get 2 files with _L and _R suffix.
You can then edit them separately. You can go from Mono to Stereo by the following step.
Or
* Choose - Edit > Insert > Channels into New Multitrack file.
That will separate the Left and Right Channels and add them to a new multitrack file.
You can then click the Edit link at the top right of the channel to edit it.
You can then save that file as a new audio file.

How can I find out the previous service provider my device is still registered with?
When trying to create a BIS account, I received the error message that my device was already registered with a different service provider and that I would have to reregister it. The problem is that I bought it new from cordlessphoneworld.co.uk and it was supposedly "completely refurbished".
My Pearl 8100 is a BT phone, however BT confirmed to me that it was not registered with their network. The seller, cordlessphoneworld.co.uk, told me to contact BlackBerry support, and BB support told me to talk to my service provider (O2 UK) who has already told me I would have to get in touch with the previous service provider.
How can I get my BB released from its current BIS registration, or at least find out who it is registered with, in order to finally enjoy its full functionality and not just the regular phone stuff?
My BB info:
PIN: *********
IMEI: #################
Happy for any help or ideas!!
Thanks.
EDIT: Removed personal information
Message Edited by Andy on 08-30-2009 02:33 PMTheres a high chance it was set up with the original carrier that is was sold with.
To find this out you need to get the vendor id of the device.
Do this by holding down (all at the same time ) the ALT+CAP+H button..
Or
Whilst pressing down ALT, select E Then S then C then R
You should see a little page pop up with random info.
What you are looking for is the vendor ID. a three digit number.
Then I will post a list of all the vendors IDS at the end of this message as i can't remember the link..
Anyhow, find the carrier from the list and call them asking them to release the PIN..
IF... the prev user didn't register it with that carrier (which would mean you phone has possibly been used twice before) then you can call your current Carrier and ask them to escalate the call to RIM who will be able to tell...
Hope this helps..

Do somebody knows what´s the recommended heigh to install an access point 1242 with external antennas 1728 on a flat area? And for example, if i use aps 3602 the heigh to install is the same?? BEST REGARDS
To determine the required height of an antenna tower over a hypothetically flat, spherical Earth, it's necessary to calculate the effect of the Earth's curvature, and then add a distance equal to 60% of the radius of the First Fresnel Zone. The table below shows the result of these calculations. Values have been rounded up to the nearest foot.
Line of Sight Distance Between Antenna Towers
Height of Tower to Avoid Flat Earth Curvature
Tower Height Required Over Tallest Obstacle In Line-of-Sight to Provide
60% Fresnel Zone Clearance

It can be seen in the table above that a wireless link between two points separated by 26 miles would require an antenna tower with a minimum height of 103 feet for an 802.11b/g radio and 95 feet for an 802.11a radio. In practice the heights would typically be 20 feet higher, or more. This is because the Earth is not smooth and flat and the tower height must be raised to compensate for buildings, trees, hills, or other obstacles. For example, in a suburban setting, with houses and small offices, it may be necessary to add 20 to 40 feet to the tower height to get over the homes, offices, and trees that would be in the line-of-sight between the two towers. -
Like I said above, print to Adobe pdf and it wants to cut off the text on the right margin. I can't see to find a setting that changes this. Any ideas??
OK, so I have now found that this is apparently normal for iTunes, to only accept mpeg 4 movie files, all the searching I did before I must have worded it wrong because I couldn't find anything about this, incredibly. Had been looking for why iTunes won't take all the files it previously did, like if it had been changed, and it hasn't, it's allegedly always taken only mpeg 4 files. Also I had been searching for why iTunes crashes every time I try and add/import anything but mpeg 4 files, and even sometimes with mpeg 4 files. That isn't normal, it's supposed to just do nothing apparently as I've just found out. So for these reasons I didn't find the answer despite my searching all over the web.
So I guess that answers my own question now, but I'm still perplexed as to why I absolutely, definitely, without any doubt, had several hundred movies of a few different video file types loaded, accessible and playable in my iTunes library that everything here claims iTunes never accepted. It apparently shouldn't have been possible for me to have done this, but for probably 10 years it's been this way.
Perhaps since I don't remember adding these files to iTunes anymore recently than maybe 6 or 7 years ago, the iTunes back then did accept all kinds of file types? Or could I have somehow had some video codecs or software that expanded the capability of my movie players like Quicktime Player that unwittingly also allowed iTunes to take those files as well? All I know is somehow it worked! So now my question is how did I have it working before, so that maybe I can make it work again. -
I have Sigmas 150-500 on Pentax. LR keep saying it's a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX ... What to do?
Hello Janux,
I do not exactly know how it works with Pentax (I'am a Canon shooter) but I expect it will be the same.
A Canon camera knows only about Canon lenses. It detect the lens by the so called LensID and write the correct metadata into the EXIF data the image. If you use a third party lens, the Camera does not know which a the correct values to write into the EXIF data. Thrid party lens vendors typicaly use a valid LensID of some (old) Canon lenses to solve this problem. But: Focal lenght and LensID rearly match.
Third party software must know which LensID and focal lens are used for a third party Lens. Often, there are multiple lenses possible. You can find out more about your metadata using a software called exiftool, which has a very log list of Pentax / Lens combinations.
To make the story short: Third party software must make a guess, an LR makes the wrong one. (You can use exiftool to fill in the correct metadata into your images, LensMake, LensModel, if you like.) -
Ok, so I'm an engineering student and I am in need of a good laptop to run programming and design type software. I have an older iMac which I love but I need the portability of a laptop for school. I was thinking I would be fine with a pc since most of the software I would be using for school is windows based. So last night, after shopping around for quite a bit, I decided to go with a Sony Vaio E series laptop with Windows 8, 8gb ram, i7 processor, dedicated graphics card, 1tb hard drive, and touch screen. It was the best performance laptop (on paper) Best Buy had in the store for just under $1000. I would have loved to get an upper end MBP but they are over twice the price as the Sony.. So I get it home with the Vaio and it feels laggy and glitchy, it takes 2 seconds for the window to pop up after 'right clicking', I can see lines in the screen, the resolution seems far from HD when on the normal looking windows side (as opposed to the tablet look, forgive my poor terminology) and the web browser, and the touch pad seems to be hit or miss in that it doesn't always register the touch pad commands. I checked all of the visual and performance settings, made the resolution as high as possible, changed some of the settings to the high performance settings, made sure all of my drivers were updated, and the only effect was a very loud fan that runs constantly.
So in short, I am going to take this back and start looking at the macbook pros. Here's my dilemna, I don't know which specs I will definitely need in a Macbook Pro. I need to be able to run windows on it either in parallel or as a partition for my programs necessary for school. Can the MBP run windows smoothly enough to run 3D design types of programs? If so, which one should I get? I love the size of the 13" MBP but it only has a dual core processor, instead of the quad core like the 15" MBP, I'm not sure if I definitely need the quad over the dual core. I would love a solid state MBP but they are out of my price range and not enough space if I end up partitioning it.
Sorry for the book, but school starts Monday and I need some direction to find out which one I need to get fairly quickly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Take a look at this MBP, a refurbished unit. Don't let the late 2011 release date put you off. For about $500 less than an equivalent 'new' one with similar specifications you get a quad core CPU and excellent graphics. As Steve359 mentioned, this can be upgraded if the need arises and has the same warranty as a 'new' one
I would not be surprised that these may actually be 'new' MBPs due to the length of time that they have been replaced by the current generation. I purchased a 17" model about 5 weeks ago, and a serial number check suggests that it is 9 weeks old.

i have an iphone that is using battery life much more quickly than in the past, a full charge is going to zero in a half a day or so, with out much use.
an icon is also appearing next to the charge percentage in the top right, and the icon is a circle around a lock
can anyone tell me what the problem is, and what the icon means? The Icon meas your display orientation is locked to vertical so it wont change when you turn the phone sideways.
First thing you should check with the battery life is multitasking, which also happens to be where the orientation lock can be turned off. check out http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4211 and go from there -
Hi,
The Safari anchor problem is back! But now for using an anchor from the left to the right and visa versa (it is for a website design).
Apple solved the problem for using the anchor from the top to bottom and bottom to top but NOT from the left to the right and right to the left.
I test it in several browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, IE8, even in IE7 is it working ;-) but not The Safari of the Big Apple!!!
You can test it here: http://www.douma.biz/anchor_problem_safari/
I put a little script in it so it is going smooth to the right and left. It is also not working without the script, so that is not the problem.
You can test it in: Firefox, IE8, IE7, Chrome, Opera etc. But Safiri is it not working!
So can somebody help me? I tried the max-height, max-width, with and without overflow-x hidden, etc etc. but it is still not working in Safari.
Best regards,
StephanieIs it again a bug???

Does "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible) work with external drive
I have an external backup drive which I use for doing daily backups. I have set an iCal alarm daily to remind me to turn the hdd on at the right time.
When Time Machine comes along in a couple weeks, I am going to be leaving this drive on all the time while I'm working on my computer but was wondering if the energy savings mode of putting the hard drive to sleep applies to external USB drives as well? Would be nice to know that when I put my computer to sleep at the end of the day that my external drive also goes to sleep. I'm not sure if this has to be a function of the external box or if OS X can shut off the drive.
Any wisdom? You can test this very easily:
The "Put the hard disk(S) to sleep when possible" default time is 10 minutes of inactivity.
Just leave your Mac alone for 10 minutes: you should hear both drives spinning down. If the external noise was not clear enough, you can then "wake it up" by double-clicking its icon on the desktop:
If it was spun down, you'll have to wait a couple of seconds or so, with the spinning colored beachball, while it is spinning up again.
Note that if you're performing a task that uses only you Mac's internal HD, the external should spin down while you're using your Mac. Then if double-clicking its icon shows the colored spinning beachball stalling, it's very clear it goes to sleep as intended.
Most of the external hard drives should be able to spin down, at least all my LaCie do it with no problem. -
I had 2 Ipads, a mac book pro and a Mac Air stolen 2 weeks ago
I am trying to locate one of the serial numbers, but cant find the last box. Can I get the serial number from Apple. It was registered and now it is not showing up as one of my products.
ThanksThe easiest way to find your serial number is this Open Itunes...click help... run diagnostics.....(tick or untick as necessary) so that you just have ticked the last two, device connectivity and device sync. run these tests. it will say no ipod/ipad found but will give results of test....scroll down to bottom of results... here you will find the serial number of your last attached devices.

iphone 4 after install the iOS 6 wi-fi networks are not detecting on public spot but working on home network. What is the reason for this/ any settings?
Is the firmware in the router up to date?
See here for the latest for v2.2: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT54G
Note: All these ideas are a bit lame since you say that some iPhone 5s are connecting OK and they running the same iOS level 6.1 and, i think, have the same Broadcom WiFi chip BCM4334.
All devices are running iOS 6.1 right not 6.0.1, or 6.0.2?
You might want to try your iPad mini on some other WiFi networks to see how it fares there. -
Anyone have a link? I have been going round in circles for at least an hour. Not much fun with a home button that dosnt work.
