Detecting wps54g print server

Hi,
I can't seem to detect my print server Wireless-G WPS54G. Its ip address
is not known. I can't detect it through the set up installation. I have
tried pressing the reset button to get a print out of its current
status, but it does not work. The printer will show that it is in the
process of printing, but in the end there is no actual print out.
The print server looks to be working. All the lights are on, usb,
wireless, ethernet, power.
Please advice on the possible actions to take to resolve this issue.
thank you.

What's the model number of your router ?
If you are using a Linksys router then you can check the Print Server Ip address Open the Setup page of the router -Click on Status - Local Network - Click on DHCP client table.

i'm trying to get my new macbook connected to my wireless print server. everything in the printer set up seems straightforward, i've entered the server ip address and it's recognized. the hitch is the list of canon printers available...all bjc's. mine is an ip5200. anyone know how to add to the list of printers?
    thank you.

Here's a very informative article from the Mac OS Hints site regarding your wireless print server and getting it to work with Macs. I hope you find it useful.

  • WPS54G Print Server doesn't print wirelessly

I am using the setup wizard, but when it is checking for the wireless setting I get a message that the connection failed. please help!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi quack thanks for your answer , unfortunately everything is correct and turned on... when I unplugged the ethernet cable just before the last step of the wizard and it is on the screen of "Now your wireless is connected" a little box appeares saying "connect fail"... But if I leave the ethernet cable plugged, the process goes "perfect", because I can print, but the server must be connected to the router wirely...
I'm starting to think if it is because the WPA key of my router, I use a WPA2:AES+TKIP,and I'm not pretty shure if the server is compatible.
Thanks for your commment!!! I wish that exist a solution!!

  • Wireless print server with Mac G4 and Dell PC's

I have a belkin wireless router and a linksys WPS54G print server. Hardwired by ethernet cables to the router are two computers 1) Dell 2400 and 2) Apple G4.
I am trying to get the Apple to print to the printserver. the linksys software set the Dell up and the print server and they work fine. I have tried everything i can on the Apple but no luck. Seems to be the driver. The printer is printing gibberish from the mac. The printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R320. I dowmloaded the drivers for Mac OS 10.4.4... from the epson website - I chose each one for the printer on my MAC and tried to print. The result was either no print out or differing gibberish each time. What can I do?

Please search this forum. Your precise issue has been covered several times. You have to use a CUPS driver for network printing - Epson's drivers are Carbon, not CUPS. Start by updating the Gimp-Print drivers that Apple included in OS X to the next newer version, now called Gutenprint 5.0.0:

  • Print server and WRT120N

Im trying to configure my PSUS4 print server to my new WRT120N but it cannot detect  my print server.  Is this possible?
    Please help.

Yes. It's possible if the print server IP address is the same with the router. By default, the router's LAN IP is 192.168.1.1, same with the print server.
All you have to do is to change the print server's IP address. You need the software that came with the printer server. You have to unplug the print server from the router and connect it to your computer for that matter. You may also have to unplug the computer from the router.
Open your browser. Type 192.168.1.1. You should be able to access your print server setup page. Check the manual for details. Download the user guide here.

  • Why is there an ANTENNA on my Print Server WPS54G?

Okay, I have a weird question to ask. Why do I have an antenna on my printer server WPS54G when I am tethered to my wireless router? From what I understand, tech support told me that you must have a wireless router to work with your print server. If that's the case, why bother of having an antenna? Can someone explain to me as to what the antenna supposed to do if I am to be hard wired to my wireless router all the time even though I am all done setting it up and configuring the print server thru my wireless router?
    Many thanks

Most wireless devices (especially the G-tech devices) haev been designed with antennas. So this would mean that it is wireless capable. I do not understand why you have to hard wire the device to the router? If you have succesfully configured the print server then it should connect wirelessly to the network and no need to wire it to the router. You only need to wire the print server to the router during configuration.

  • Linksys Wireless Print server WPS54G

Has anyone tried the Linksys WPS54G wireless print server to work on their Macbook? I don't use a wireless for general networking at home, can I still use the Wireless-G connection in ad-hoc mode to print using Macs?

You need to consider the driver for your printer first!!!!
Network printing/Windows printing only works with a driver that was meant for network printing. To use the OS X built-in CUPS network choices, you need a CUPS driver. For postscript printers, it's not an issue, because postscript is the native output of OS X, and can easily be routed to the various choices in Printer Setup.
Non-postscript printers are Very Different. Except for Brother, no manufacturer has provided CUPS drivers. Instead, what you get are Carbonized, OS9 legacy drivers, that have the comm protocol written into the driver (mostly USB). They can only print via local connection.
**Exception - when printing via an Airport/Bonjour enabled print server, where the software does a port redirection, USB output from the Mac gets routed to the USB port on Airport Express/Extreme.
Linksys doesn't do this Apple-only USB port redirection...

  • HP Wireless G Print Server not detected during installation.

I follow the instructions, insert install disk, click install, agree to all the terms, then the software searches for wireless devices, then it prompts me to connect the print server to the computer by connecting the install usb cable provided and then connect the power. I do this and software does not recognize the print server, so I can't click next. What do I need to do?

  • Print Server WPS54G

Successfully connected my HP930C to my network but PC can't talk to it.  Get an error -132.  Is the PS firmware not compatible with Windows 7??
    Thanks

Whats the model number of your Router?
Hardwired the Print Server to your Router, login to the setup page of your router and under the DHCP Client table list your will find the IP address of your Print Server... Using that IP address you can try to login to the setup page of Print Server...
Once login to the setup page of Print Server, Input the wireless settings (SSID, Security Key) on it and click on Save Settings, then assign a Static IP to the Print Server and click on Save Settings..

  • Wps54G linksys print server

Anybody had success with any of the available apps printing via a wireless print server? server and set up works fine for 2 pcs, but so far, I can't seem to get any of the print apps to find it, much less the printer.

I actually have that router and an old HP printer and am able to successfully print from my IPad (Pages, Numbers, Safari, eMail and Keynote). I use no special apps.
But unlike the configuration in your original post, my printer is connected (wired) to the router via USB cable. Plus, my computers are all PCs. So, that may be where our similarities end.
For me, the fist sep was to configure my wired printer to the router and successfully print from all of my wireless computers in the house. I set up that print server years ago and followed the instructions for setting up a print server from the Linksys site and router documentation. This is really a separate task from the real deal, which is getting the IPad to print acros the wireless network.
The second step was labor intense for me, because every step in the process required me to learn something new along the way. For example, I had to research how to log on to my own computer as an administrator to perform one of the steps. My point is, if you don't have the aptitude or patience to perform a task from pretty vague instructions, you'll get frustrated.
The instructions that I followed to enable printinfrom my IPad are at the following URL:

Here's the URL for Mac configurations:
    http://jaxov.com/2010/11/how-to-enable-airprint-service-on-mac-os-x-10-6-5/
For the Windows site, there are lots of questions and answers at the bottom of the instructions.

  • Sharing Linksys Wireless Print Server with MAC and PC - How to do?

I have lost the capability to share a printer on my network by using the Linksys Wireless Print Server-model number WPS54G -V2. Prior to having to return my previous Print Server on an RMA, I was able to use the MAC and PCs on my network. I have a PowerGook G4 with MacOS X 10.4.10. I also have a Airport Extreme Base Station V5.6. The printer on the network that is being shared is an Epson Stylus Photo 820. Recently, when trying to reconfigure the network, I updated the software on the Airport Extreme...so I think after that, I am no longer able to share this printer using current network configuration. As information, I will share how I got the network to share the printer BEFORE I had to replace the previous Print Server and BEFORE I updated the Airport Extreme. Please see this link:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050406151311940
Even though this was for a different type of Print Server, this worked for me.
When reconfiguring the new Print Server, I contacted Linksys...as had some difficulty until I found out how to assign a static IP to the new Print Server. When trying to talk to them about the Mac issue, and sharing the printer, they shared this link with me...which may be helpful to some, but I found that this does not work for me...
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060404021600193
I have been trying to work through the issue, but feel I may now have some compatibility issues between the Airport Extreme and the Epson printer.
Further details are that I use 10.0.1.78 for the assigned IP address for the Print server. My router (which is the Airport address) is 10.0.1.1. I have tried IPP printing option, LPD printing option...and IPP printing at least returns a status on the Print Server as "printing" as opposed to "idle". I have checked the Print status on the Mac, and I have received two (2) different error messages as to why the print job failed. They are:
"the process "picwpstops" stopped unexpectedly with status 1"
    and
"the process "rastertoprinter" stopped unexpectedly with status 1"
The latter happens when I follow the instructions on the second link I attached on this topic...with the only change being that I select IPP printing as opposed to LPD printing.
Anyone that has any insight into HOW to configure the mysterious settings for Mac OS printing so that it can be compatible with a Wireless Print Server, please feel free to comment. In the meantime, I am thinking that the links above could help some people...just not me at this point given my current configuration and versions of software/firmware and perhaps the printer I am using.
Greatly appreciate your consideration, and any suggestions to anyone that might understand what these error messages mean when checking the printer status after sending a file for printing.
    Thank you

    1. No, you don't have to make a bootable clone.
    2. If you use the drive for a bootable backup, then you cannot use the drive for other types of storage unless you partition the drive and make more than one volume.
    3. No, it will not try to boot the computer. You must designate the startup volume using Startup Disk preferences.
If you wish to use the drive on both a Mac and a PC, then either you make two partitions - one for Mac and the other for the PC or you must format the entire drive using FAT32 so the drive can be used for read//write by both operating systems. If you do this then you cannot use the drive for a bootable backup nor can you use it with Time Machine.
FAT32 is slower for read/write on the Mac than using Mac formatting.
Optimally, I would suggest you partition the drive into two volumes. One volume formatted for the Mac and the other formatted FAT32.
You can send files from a PC to a Mac and vice-versa using File Sharing. Select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "file sharing" or "sharing" to find help articles. Also see,

  • How can I print from iPad to a Brother printer with a TP-link tl-wps510u connected to it without using a computer? It doesn't detect the printer.

I have a Brother printer that doesn't have wifi, but I bought a Wireless Server Print to connect to it. I want the iPad can print directly to the printer without using a computer, but the iPad doesn't detect the printer. Is that possible?

    javigomez88 wrote:
I know that Brother has an app that works with its wireless printers, even if they are not airprint. My printer isn't wireless, is a wireless print server attached to the printer what is able to make this printer wireless. Could this app be a solution or only would work with the wireless Brother printers?
The Apps usually only work with wireless printers, though if its free, there is no harm in trying, and see if it gets picked up, but its doubtful, as the print server would need to transmit in the same protocol the Brother Print App is expecting from the supported wireless printers.

  • Linksys Wireless Print Server & HP Printer

Does anyone know if I can use my Linksys wireless print server which is attached to my HP All-in-One Inkjet printer for printing on my MacBook Pro? When I go to add a printer, nothing is detected - neither the HP or the Print Server.

I am facing the same problem too, except that my printer is a CANON. I can't seem to see the printer over the wireless network. However, when I connect the printer hardwired to my MBP, everything works fine and I am able to print normally.
