"Detection of service failed" - Satellite A300 to Sony Ericsson c905

Hello!
I'm getting the "Detection of service failed" on my A300 Toshiba laptop whenever I try to connect with my Sony Ericsson c905 cell phone.
I'm able to connect with other phones, and the Sony Ericsson is able to connect to other laptops.
I've tried upgrading the Bluetooth stack to 6.4 - didn't help.
Any ideas?

Same problem. Satellite Pro U400 and new Sony Ericsson C510. Latest firmware on mobile phone and latest drivers (bt stack) 6.40.00(T). Low security, visible devices, updated Windows XP SP3.
When i select phone in device list, icon is blue/white. After i click "Next", turns to blue/green and pop dialog with "Detection of service failed".
Older Sony Ericsson Z550i paired without any problems.
This is my first, and last Toshiba product. Every next day it is a bigger disappointment for me. Now, if i want to conect to the internet, i need to switch phone. That is bad. Really bad. Wait, not bad, that is bullsh1t. Maybe have toshiba good hardware, bud software sux. TrueSuite Access Manager for fingerprint sometimes didn't start, so can't login with finger. Wifi sometimes lost connection - but original latest Intel drivers fix that.
My only hope is, that Taiyo Yunden/Broadcom makes own drivers.. Googling now..

  • Bluetooth - Detection of service failed

Hi, I have a Satellite A660 (PSAW3A-07U00R) with Windows 7 64bit. I had my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 connected directly to the computer (the mouse has no dongle) and it was working fine.
The other day my computer froze (for about 1 hour) and i ended having to shut down by holding down the power button. When I restarted the computer it got to the log on screen than shut down with a blue screen. The blue screen didn't stay up long but said to try updating the bios if the problem persists. It than kept restarted and continuing to shut down with a blue screen and restart (at various stages, but mainly after I had logged on to windows) about 5 times before I could get on to internet explorer and download the updated bios and install it. The computer hasnt shut down since.
After that saga my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 would not work. I deleted the mouse from the connected device window in the Toshiba Bluetooth Settings programme. I than tried to reconnect the mouse, the computer can see the mouse but will not connect to it and pops up with a message "Detection of service failed". I have uninstalled all the Bluetooth software and drivers and reinstalled them (Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba-v7.10.10(T); Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver-V5.60.48.35_DrvOnly; ConfigFree-8.0.28). I have tried connecting in Express mode and in custom mode with Toshibas Bluetooth connection wizard. I also installed Bluetooth Monitor-v4.04 and tried connecting the mouse through windows "devices and printers" adding new device, but still the same problem.
The mouse connects to my friends computer no problems and works fine, so its not the mouse.
So my mouse wont connect and I dont know if it was from the bios update or if windows maybe updated itself and caused all the problems.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes I removed the batteries from the mouse a few times and left them out overnight. I also changed the batteries as well not that there was anything wrong with the original ones, but the mouse still wont connect.

  • Sony Ericsson C905 Call Blocker/Manager?...

    Hi Everyone,
I'm just wondering if there is such a thing as a call blocker/manager for the Sony Ericsson C905....?
My first mobile phone was a Nokia and to date I have always stuck with them but now I'd like to try a Sony phone and the C905 looks great to me!
The only problem I have is that it does not support a great feature that Nokia have as standard and that is to set up profiles which you can tell your phone to alert you for only certain calls. I can put my contacts into groups that I create, so for talking sake I have 'Family' 'Friends' 'Work' and so on, I add as many contacts as I want to each group. Then I can tell my mobile phone to only alert me if 'Friends' are calling but it will not ring if anyone else tries to get through. I'll still see a missed call but the ringtone is silent.
This is a feature that I really like and would love to find out if there is an application for the C905 to make this possible.
Any help is very much appreciated
    Thanks for reading,
    Lorri

I could suggest a website such as www.getjar.com.

  • Isync Sony Ericsson C905

I have bought a plugin from a third party to isync my address book to my phone. Unfortunately not all of the contacts have copied onto my phone. Does anyone know why this is and what I can do? Thank you

Make sure that all the contacts you want on the phone are in the Address Book group you have selected for syncing in iSync.
Also, if some contacts do not have phone numbers associated with them, click on your phone's icon in iSync, click *More Options...* at the bottom, then uncheck the *Synchronize only contacts with phone numbers* checkbox.
If that doesn't help, you should contact the provider of the third-party plugin, as they would be the obvious people to help with their products.

  • Satellite U500-178 to Sony Ericsson W995 bluetooth connection problem

    Hi,
Both the PC and the phone identify the other but when you try to connect from the laptop it pops up with "Detection of service failed". The phone pops up with a similar message if you try to connect from the phone.
I have updated the phone software and the laptop is running Toshiba Bluetooth Stack for Windows version 7.00.08.
Bluetooth is enabled on both devices.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

Right-click on the Bluetooth system tray icon and select Options...
Check in the General tab. Ensure that the "Bluetooth Information Exchange Service" is enabled.
Check in the Windows Device Manager if the COM ports 15-19 exists.

  • Satellite A300 - S-video doesn't detect TV

    Dear All
Last week, I bought your new product: Toshiba Satellite A300
I liked its specifications specially the s-video output.
When I reached my house, I connected it to my TV:
    Toshiba Bomba 29A3MJ
    http://www.toshiba-gulf.com/site/product/prd_details.asp?prdid=1044&catid=123
I used S-Video to RCA Cable:
    http://www.accessories-shop.net/images/5FT_4_PIN_S-VIDEO_to_3_RCA_TV_male_Cable.jpg
I then set the TV to the mode which I used to use for another laptop.
I kept clicking Fn+F5 on the satelite laptop with no use.
Nothing was displayed on the TV screem.
Before, I used to connect HP Pavilion dv2000 to the same TV using its s-video and it worked fine.
Please advice how to fix this issue.
    Best regards

    Hi
    Usually it should work.
Both devices should be OFF. Then connect notebook and TV using this cable.
Power up the TV and boot up the notebook.
If the usage of FN+F5 will not detect the picture on the TV then I would recommend checking the settings in your graphic card properties.
I dont know what graphic card you have but my Satellite notebook has been equipped with the Intel graphic card and I can change the settings in control panel -> Intel graphic card media accelerator.
Maybe your notebook supports ATI card. So such settings could be found in ATI catalyst.
PS: Check if you are using the latest BIOS and latest graphic card driver too.

  • Satellite L450 - The user profile service failed the log on

    Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite L450 and I have had it for a while now and this has never happened before, when I turn it on it goes through the usual and then comes up with my name and a box for me to type my password, as normal. But when I put my password in it says:
The user profile service failed the log on
    User profile cannot be loaded
The only option I have is to log off and when I do it takes me back to the password bit. If I put the password in wrong it tells me its wrong.....
Cant do anything with it, I have tried shutting down, etc....looked through the manual and cant see anything about it in there either.......... :(

    Hi mate
Please attach to this Microsoft document:

It seems to be known issue to Microsoft. You have to use the FIX posted there.

  • New battery is not detected on Satellite A300

    Hello every body
I had this problem with my laptop Satellite A300 (PSAJ4E). I bought a new battery and started my laptop. I have Windows Vista.
The battery is not detected. When I remove the charger its work well but with indicator of low battery so Im update my BIOS but the problem is still there.
So I look around and tried to disable Microsoft in device manger.
Still not fixed properly. I removed charger and insert it again.
It shows the AC power supply but no charge.

    hi king_soft,
    sold a third party battery?
in some cases the used controller (battery) is not recognised by your system...
you can try this (without any promisses):
shut down notebook, remove battery, connect ac-adapter and make sure unit is powered
    insert battery and wait 24hours
    disconnect ac-adapter and remove battery
switch machine on to make it fully discharged (some components holding electricity)
insert battery and start the unit
check powermanager or energy options if the battery is recognised...
never open up a battery pack - it's really dangerous!
if the battery pack is recognised by the system - you won!
if not make sure that your ac-adapter supplies the right voltage/current to your system
test another battery to make sure the loading device (notebook) is working properly
    if so exchange battery pack!

  • Satellite A300-1FP - Chicony webcam Win 7 64bit - driver open failed

    Greetings
I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my Toshiba Satellite A300-1FP. I was surprised at how smoothly it went. The only thing that was missing was a Windows 7 driver for the Chicony Webcam. A number of people on these forums have suggested using the Vista 64 bit driver. I tried numerous times to make this work. I deleted the startup entry, deleted and resinstalled the driver from device manager, etc. Everything I have found on these forums I've tried.
None of it works. I continue to get the error message "Webcam driver open failed. Please restart camera or computer."
Even with the "camera assistant" the Chicony camera is really awful. Had I know before I bought the machine I would have chosen otherwise. Too late now. Without the assitant you have only the driver that comes with Windows 7 which allows you to use the camera but unless you have Hollywood quality lighting the video is so dark that it is nearly unusable. The "camera assistant" at least had a booster for darker rooms.
I don't know why Toshiba ever used this camera in the first place.
There are many people with this same exact problem who are looking for help in the various forums for their system.
If anyone knows how to handle this I would really appreciate hearing from you. Toshiba, if you're listening, what were you thinking?
    Dave

    Hello
Just a little question: Have you tried this?
[Why an error message displayed "Webcam driver open fail. Restart camera or computer"?|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=18]
Furthermore it would be interesting to know if the same happens with factory settings. Can you check this please?

  • Toshiba Satellite A300-129 Crisis Recovery Mode Phoenix BIOS with USB drive

When flashing my BIOS back from v4.20 to a v3.90 I found on the net, everything went alright in windows, but as soon as I rebooted, the laptop showed the symptoms of a failed BIOS.
I'm now trying to repair the BIOS using the crisis recovery tool. I used the following procedure to create the USB stick and recover the BIOS
-Run the WINCRIS.Exe file in administrator and compatibility mode (Windows XP SP2)
-Select the USB drive (1GB Kingston), and format it with the tool
-Reinsert the drive and format again with the tool without restarting it to be sure that the disk is properly formatted
-Take the BL5S3D57.WPH file from the toshiba BIOS update and rename it to BIOS.WPH, and copy to the Crisdisk directory
-Copy the files BIOS.WPH (the one from toshiba I renamed), minidos.sys and winphlash16.exe to the drive in windows
    -Take the drive out
-Plug battery out, plug AC out of laptop, hold the power button for a few seconds to make sure no remaining current is in the laptop
    -Plug the USB Drive in
-Hold Fn+Esc in my case, this is the key combination where the laptop tries to read the USB drive the moment it boots up. It has something to do with enabling a boot block in the BIOS with that key combination.
-Plug AC in while still holding the F button
The F button does not nescessarily need to be held while plugging in AC, the laptop also tries to read from the drive if I hold it after plugging AC in, and before pushing the power button.
    -Press the power button
I need to push the button twice, because the first time after plugging in AC the power button doesn't do a thing. When holding the power button for around 10 seconds after right after plugging AC in, the laptop boots sometimes, didn't find a pattern yet here.
The easy thing however is to just push the button 2 or 3 times, then it boots, and the booting procedure seems exactly the same as when holding the power button
-Wait for the LED to flash on the USB Drive. Very important: it seems to only flash ONCE for me, so it means it tries to access the drive, but I think it doesn't contain the right files or isn't formatted correctly. If I keep holding the F button while the laptop is on, the LED flashes once every 10-20 seconds.
From here on out the laptop is supposed to be reading the BIOS files from the USB drive, but apparently I'm doing something wrong. So here comes my question:
What could I be doing wrong in formatting the drive or writing the files to it?
Do I have the wrong CRISDISK? Is it normal that the files arent copied by CRISDISK to the USB Drive and that I have to do it myself?
Am I using the wrong WinPhlash? Or should I use the files that are supplied in the official BIOS rar from toshiba?
I have tried different versions of CRISDISK, different USB Drives (one 4GB would not be read by the broken laptop, and another 1GB would not be read by CRISDISK when trying to format the drive)
Tried different files on the USB Drive, tried bios.wph instead of capitals, tried BIOS.FD,...
I'm kind of running out of options here to try. Is there anyone who has experience with this recovery mode flashing that could tell me what I might be doing wrong? Or that has any suggestions on which other CRISDISK or toshiba updates to use?
Thanks anyways to people who read this and try to help!

I hope that Russian service provider will be as honest as the European one and won't solder something out as a souvenir :)
They said, it will take approximately a week.
Serviceman said that L30 has no built-in crisis recovery routine.
So I wasted money by buying an USB floppy disk drive and risked to burn something in my laptop by frequent powering it on and off (and may be burnt, will see).
The lesson I learnt is never flash BIOS if everything works and if even flash then not from Windows (btw. I flashed successfully my Satellite A300 from Windows without any problems).
Phoenix makes its BIOSes since 2001 with a crisis recovery boot block, but Toshiba locks this feature in many laptops, I think, not without a reason. Service providers want money too :)

  • Satellite A300-15M - Can I install a second HDD?

    Hi there.
I own a SatelliteA300-15M. I bought the laptop 2 years ago. I have already 250GB hard drive which came with the laptop. Recently I got my laptop serviced from local shop. I noticed that it has an additional slot for another hard drive. I saw a post that some of the A300/A305 laptops have the space for second hard drive but not the connectors.
If anyone owns A300-15M can they please tell me if i can install a second internal hard drive in my model? Is there a sure way to find if I can really install a second hard drive?

    Hello
    > but not the connectors.
So the case is claer: If you dont have a second SATA connector, you cant install a second HDD.
Check also the forum regarding such questions. The point is that one notebook series (e. g. Satellite A300) is always equipped with the same case but the hardware is different. So not all models have the same features. ;)

  • Satellite A300 thinks button is held down and won't start up (long)

Hey sorry this is so long but I would really love some help,
Ok so I was just wondering if there is a way to fix this...
I was on my Satellite A300 (just over a year old) last night playing the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo using the Stream network and all of a sudden in Online Co-op the Camera Assistant Window opened minamising Left 4 Dead 2.
I thought this strange because I had closed the side popup bar for Camera Assistant on startup so that it wouldn't popup and do exactly what it did....
So after being confused I just clicked back onto Left 4 Dead 2 and thought "I'll deal with that in a sec"... When Left 4 Dead 2 did maximise again, (it took a few moments where there was a black screen and about 1 second of audio looping), I couldn't physically play but I could watch the game in a special mode that lets you take a break and let AI take over for a while. Also the in game chat box was up.
I was at first just trying to click the button to turn off AI control but the game wouldn't respond. Then my chat box's typing section started filling up with 'u's so I tried to get rid of them. All I could do was high-light them with my mouse and then more 'u's would replace them.
After trying Alt+F4 for a while and Ctrl+Alt+Del with no responce except for the 'u's I decided the poor computer must be strained with Left 4 Dead open and Stream, Illistratror and the Camera open in the background so I pressed the power button (set to shut down on my computer) and waited...
Left 4 Dead 2 closed, as did Camera Assistant I think... and then it kind of froze so I just held down the power button (sorry I know that probably wasn't the best move) and my laptop turned off...
Well when I tried to turn it back on the Black "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen pops up along with the little footer explaining what F2 and F12 do. After that the screen switches to the little blinking text bar thing (sorry I don't know what it's actually called...) but the bar flashes on and remains there for about 4-5 seconds and then flashes off and on again, although it seems slightly duller in colour) and then a single tone plays (from the computer even if earphones are plugged in) and yeah... I have to turn it back off...
Remembering about the 'u's I assumed the computer was not happy that the 'u' button was being held down on startup so remembering that the fron of the keys are actually removable I (very carefully) removed the 'u' faceplate. It all looked 'normal' underneath... (I compared it to the 'y' button) and so pressed it a few times and re-placed the faceplate. Turned on the compter... Same thing happened...
I then tried taking out the battery and then putting it back in to see if that would help... Again, the tone played... I took unpluged my iPod, Took out the CD, and removed the Memory Card to see if that would help... It didn't unfortunately.
So next I tried turning on the computer whist pressing 3 keys (I thought it might cancel out the 'u' key) abd held down 'b+n+m'. The first time I did this Windows Boot Manager opened instead of the beeping. I only have Windows Vista so when I tried to continue by pressing 'enter' nothing happened... So I turned off the computer and tried again (this time with q+w+e as I thought maybe holding b+m starts Boot Manager). This time Windows Error Recovery displayed with the options; Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt and Start Windows Normally. Again Enter wouldn't work... And thats my sistuation so far...
Please help if you can >: I'm scared if I take it to a Japanese Compute Person they'll wipe everything...
    Thankyou,
    Rochelle
(again I am sorry this is so long but I thought people might wan't specifics...)

    hi Ellehcore,
sure it is always the hardware.... nope!
deinstall the webcam software and/or shutdown the webcam service
this will prevent the software to show up in your game...
but with this extended problems you should ask a servicepartner for assistance....
    or simply recover the system...

    Hello
Im wondering that you want to upgrade to 8GB RAM... Normally 3 or 4GB should be more as enough for all applicaions at the moment.
Anyway, as Jayjay said its not possible to upgrade to 8GB. A friend of me has a Satellite A300 and the user manual says that it can upgrade to 4GB or 2GB (depending on the chipset). So if you have a PM965/GM965/RS690M chipset you can upgrade it to 4GB. Otherwise you can only use up to 2GB.
I have upgraded my Toshiba notebook with Kingston RAM. This is high quality RAM and has a good compatibility. I never had problems with such modules.
    Check this!!
    Bye
