Dev 6.0 and seperate Oracle Homes??

I installed EAP Developer 6.0 in a seperate Oracle Home from my
Developer 2.1 (actually on a seperate drive). What do you need
to do to change your Oracle Home back and forth between the 2
versions?
Thanks,

I got it!
After reading numerous postings I discovered that I needed to unzip the class.zip files and store them in the java directory, but thanks anyway.

  • OraOps.dll and Multiple Oracle Homes

    Hi All,
I am writing a simple Windows Forms client app that is trying to connect to an Oracle 8.1.7 database. I am having a problem connecting with ODP.NET. The error I get is as follows:
"An unhandled exception of type 'System.DllNotFoundException' occurred in oracle.dataaccess.dll
Additional information: Unable to load DLL (OraOps.dll)."
I have gone through these forums and tried everything that the various people suggested:
    1) I have made sure that process can access the OraOps.dll file (In my program I opened the dll and read a couple of bytes out of it.)
    2) I have installed the 8.1 client into a seperate home from ODP.NET (8 client and OraOLEDB is in D:\Oracle\Ora81, 9 client and ODP.NET is in D:\Oracle\Ora92) I intalled the 8 client first, then the 9 client with ODP.NET.
    3) I have used the Oracle Home Selector to ensure that the Oracle 9 home is current.
    4) I have checked the path that the process is using to ensure that the Oracle 9 home is first in the path, which it is.
Can anyone think of any other things that might cause this problem? I'm out of ideas. :-(

Absolutely...make sure that you use OUI to install the additional Oracle_Homes so that the inventory would be updated (instead of copying over from the existing OHs).
We have a cluster, wherein we have about 6 different ORACLE_HOMEs (whether it's good idea to have so many OHs is a totally different question though)...and it works fine and it well supported by Oracle. As such, you can both NON-RAC and RAC OHs as well, if you prefer.

  • Relinking Oracle binaries and multiple Oracle Homes

    Hello,
My question is related to relinking Oracle binaries in the following scenario:
As part of larger migration project we are moving all the databases from one server to another. Both on old and on new server the OS is the same: HP-UX 11.23i. There are 5 databases on the source server, each with it's own Oracle Home (and Oracle binaries). All Oracle binaries for all the databases are version 10.2.0.3.
On the new server we have some of the migrated databases already in production. Now our DBA wants to move another database and, because for each database binaries are moved also from source to destination server, he has to relink the binaries on target server. Is it required to stop all the databases on the target server to perform the relink for this one DB, even if they all have separate Oracle Homes (binaries)?
    Thanks for your answers

  • RAC and multiple Oracle Homes

Here is my issue: We have a central RAC cluster that I'm being asked to run on. It is a two node cluster. I would like to have my own Oracle homes on the boxes so that I have more control over the environment and management (like patching etc...). So on the box I would have a home for ASM, a home for Clusterware, and two database homes. Is this certified so that the databases running out of my home are clustered and managed by the Clusterware?
    Thanks!

Currently we are running AIX 4.3.3 and Oracle 8.06 with about 13 instances on one box. We need to upgrade one of the 13 instances to Oracle 8.1.7.2. Is it possible to have two different versions of Oracle residing on one server with 12 databases on version 8.06 and one on 8.1.7.2???

  • DEV 6i and oracle home

    Please can anybody help?
Perhaps a minor problem but when i try to install dev6i release 2 (just downloaded)i have to specify a oracle home. When a choose the one where i have installed the 9i database (orahome90)
then i get the following error:
The location specified E:\oracle\ora90 is already used as an Oracle home for Oracle 82 Beta. It cannot be used as an Oracle home for NT
What do or have i done wrong?
    regards,
    Joshua

Forms/Reports6 must be installed in a seperate Oracle Home, you cannot put them in the same home as the database. Ensure that the new home that you create is the default Oracle home.

  • What are the Oracle Home and GRID home directory locations for Oracle 12c (12.1.0.5) release

    Hello All,
I plan to install and configure Oracle 12c Cloud Control console on a single standalone server and the version is Oracle 12.1.0.5. All the databases which are installed across in the entire farm/landscape are these versions:
    Oracle 10.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 10.2.0.4 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.5 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 11.2.0.1 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC Enterprise Edition
All Oracle databases across these versions will use the same version of Oracle Grid since ASM is used for all the Oracle database across Production/Test/Development databases. The OS is RHEL 5.8, RHEL 6.3, OEL 6.3 versions.
When installing the Oracle 12c Cloud Control what is the Oracle and Grid Home directory location need to set to. Please let me know if there are any other additional configurations needed?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
    Regards,
    Abhijit

First off, the only EM CC release out right now is 12.1.0.2, not sure where you got 12.1.0.5 (DB Plugin maybe?).
Second, you're confusing EM CC homes with DB/Grid homes.
EM CC will need it's own Oracle Home (i.e. /opt/oracle/product/em_12.1.0.2).   You will need to provide repository database connection information, but EM does not care what home the db or grid is installed in.
I would recommend reviewing the documentation as well as the references on OTN -

  • Oracle 9i and Oracle Forms 6i in 2 different Oracle-Homes

    My OS: Windows XP
    First I installed "Oracle9i Database 9.2.0.1.0" with Oracle-Home-Path "OraHome92".
Then I wanted to install "Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2", because I need to use the Form Builder. I wasn't able to install this in the same Oracle-Home, so I installed it with a new one called "oradev". Now my Oracle Installation-Folder looks like this:
    -oracle
    ---admin
    ---ora92 (comment: HOME 0)
    ---oradata
    ---oradev (comment: HOME 1)
Working with the database directly works fine, with Enterprise Manager I created a user, database and my first tables. No problems there.
But now I do have a problem: When I try to connect to my database with Form Builder, I get the following error message:
ORA-12154: TNS:Der Dienstname konnte nicht aufgelöst werden.
In english it should be this:
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name.
I guess the problem might be the two different oracle-homes?!??
Does anybody have an idea how I can connect to my database with Form Builder?

How can I do that?Use Oracle Net8 Easy Config utility (Windows menu).
I try to connect with the user I created with
Enterprise Manager. When you connect to DB you use a username, a password, and a connection string. The last one (a TNS alias) is necessary because you're working in a different Oracle Home, it's the same as you were on a different machine.

  • 10.1 and 10.2 Oracle Homes on the same clusterware

We are looking at moving our production databases to a three node database cluster running on a Sun Solaris platform. Out current production database is version 10.2.0.3 so we intend to install the database software up to patchset 10.2.0.3 and the Oracle Clusterware version 10.2.0.1.0.
At the same time we would also like to use this database cluster to run the asdb metadata repository for the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 . It’s database is of version 10.1 so a 10.1 Oracle Home would need to be installed.
My first question is if it is possible to run a 10.1 and 10.2 home on the same cluster. I do realize that the clusterware will be 10.2.0.1.0 so the 10.1 database might not be able to run on it. If that is the case then I assume that we would also need to install clusterware 10.1.0.2.
This leads me to my second question which is: Is it possible to run two versions of clusterware on the same node? With different Oracle Homes running on top of it?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Allan

Murali, Kevin, Thanks for the reply,
I will open a TAR to find out as to whether the Oracle Clusterware is downward compatible.
Have you seen RAC installations where databases instances are running on two or more Oracle Homes of different versions at the same time? For example a database cluster which is used for test/development would have an Oracle Home which is at version 10.2.0.2. In order to perform tests on a database upgraded to 10.2.0.3 an Oracle Home would be cloned and then have the 10.2.0.3 patchset applied. Then a copy of the production database would be upgraded to 10.2.0.3 using the 10.2.0.3 home. In the end on the same cluster there would be test databases running on both 10.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.3.
    Thanks,
    Allan

  • Two oracle homes 8 and 10

    Hi,
    on a windows 2003 server I have Oracle 10g and Oracle 8.1.7.
When we start listener of 10g , it deos not start listener for 8.1.7 data base. For starting 8.1.7 Listener I should go to Oracle_HOME/bin of 8.1.7.
Is there any way to resolve this in order to start Listener for 8.1.7 with 10g listener ? How to include 8.1.7 Db in SID_LIST_LISTENER of 10g listener.ora?
The same we can not use SQLPLUS of 10g to connect to 8.1.7 data base . We should do this from 8.1.7ORACLE_HOME/bin. How can I change to be able to connect from every directory ?
    Many thanks.

Use oracle netmanager to include oracle 8i database service name in to 10g listner or else manually include 8i SID and oracle home in to 10g listner file.
Netmanager can be started by typing netmgr on command prompt
    e.g
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    (SID_NAME = orcl)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1)
    (SID_DESC =
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = orcl)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1)
    (SID_NAME = ORCL)
    (SID_DESC =
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = TSH1)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /data2/oracle/ora8i)
    (SID_NAME = TSH1)
    2)
in 10g Home you need to configure tnsnames.ora for the 8i database to be connected. Put the 8i server ip and SERVICE_NAME and port in 10g tnsnames.ora file. You can find this file in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    TSH1 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.21.29)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = tsh1)
    )

  • 64-bit database and 32-bit companion on same host oracle home problem

    Hi.
We have following situation in production.
Installed database version is 10.02.04. 64-bit,host Windows 2008 x64, now we are trying to install 32-bit companion cd and this time we are trying not to loose/kill our 64-bit oracle home inventory.
Last time 32-bit version was installed our 64-bit home vanished and attachHome script always returned error, it seems to me that 32-bit and 64-bit versions overwrite installation info to each other, only last install is visible.
When I run setup for 32-bit companion I don't see anything in installed products(it's not listing 64-bit oracle homes). We had a lot of problems with this, patch failing, no way to install anything anymore for 64-bit version...
So is it possible to install 32 and 64 bit homes on same host, can they coexist, and keep both homes(OUI homes info), are there any special steps or something?

Well I looked at Inventory.xml file, after 32-bit version was installed entry for 64-bit install was gone.
Although I can not confirm that 100 percent because 32-bit installation was not done by me, maybe other guy who did it manually delete it as I did with 32-bit version to return my 64-bit inventory.
So my options are to backup 64-bit inventory, install 32-bit companion my 64-bit inventory will be overwritten, backup 32-bit, delete 32-bit, restore 64-bit inventory and I'll have active 64-bit inventory. Now I have inventory for 64-bit and I can restore 32-bit or 64-bit inventory when I need it.
This woks by is there another way...somebody...
