Dev Alpha C - EMEA delivery

Before I go any further can everyone mention Ruth Whelan in any post in reply to this one
I have the name of Ruth's boss + email so she deserved a little payback
Anyway
DA-C has not landed in EMEA as of now
Ruth Whelan tells me that they have no set date but have them penciled in and of this month
Ruth is a very nice person and gave me the info without any problem
She usually gets angry customers asking where their stuff is (so me being polite was a nice call for her)
I'm still not giving out the name of the company - I am, however, doing follow-up as I've obtained the name of the manager
Ruth Whelan answers the phone - but she helped us out a LOT today

  • Q10 10.2.1 OS on a Dev Alpha C?

    Hello,
I would like to use the "full" 10.2.1 OS release of the Q10 on my Dev Alpha C and not just the Developer OS version of it.
Would the full Q10 OS work on a DAC?
If so, where can I download it?

    Yes, two ways.
I would recommend using the Sachesi install process here.

  • Setuping BlackBerry Dev Alpha for development

    Hello,
at first I did not know where to put this, since developer support forums are more code oriented, so I choose this forum, I hope it is okay, otherwise please move it to correct forum.
I am trying to setup BlackBerry Dev Alpha device for development on my workstation. I am running Windows 8 Pro x64, freshly installed and I installed latest BlackBerry Development Kit and BlackBerry Device Manager. The Alpha device was updated to the latest version. Now I am having trouble connecting to the device in the IDE.
My question is, why my PC cannot connect ot BlackBerry Dev Alpha device? IDE displays Unable to connect. Check USB cable or WiFi connection.
    The following facts are true:
    - Device is connected with normal MicroUSB cable without hubs
    - Device is detected in BlackBerry Device Manager and IP is displayed
    - Development mode is on, password is set
    - IP of  the device is 169.254.1.1, set in development mode screen (tried also another IP, no effect)
    - Target in Momentics is created manually (autodiscover does not work)
    - Windows Firewall is OFF
    - Pinging the device IP in command prompt returns no reply
Is there something wrong with the device? Considering I cannot run camera, I might have received bad device.
    Best Regards,
    Legoless

    I got same sometime.
I'm use action as below to solve.
    1. Check USB Cable

    5.  try detect hardware by scan hardware,

  • Can't access my Dev Alpha (A)

    Hi,
I just rebooted my Dev Alpha and it says "Thanks for participating" and I can't do anything but to turn it off.
How to get access to it again?
    Thanks
    P.S. I'm on Windows XP
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The Dev Alpha A is no longer officially supported as of 10.1.0.1485. You can try downloading newer builds on to the divice from here:https://developer.blackberry.com/blackberry10devalpha/devalpha_update.html
    But it is NOT supported.
Hope this was helpful. Happy Coding!

  • Dev Alpha C (Q10) camera broken: black screen

    Hello,
As far as I understand, Dev Alpha C has identical hardware to Q10. My unit's rear camera stopped working - I have a black screen in the camera app when using rear camera and I have a usual viewfinder when I'm using a front one.
I've tried doing security wipes and flashing alternate firmwares (Q10's 10.1 and 10.2) with no luck.
    Is it fixable?

Hello, I am experiencing actually the exact same problem on my q10. When I start the (rear) camera, all it shows are rainbow-like stripes. Before that I had the "black-screen" issue. The front camera has always functioned flawelessly, by the way. Still hope it's a stupid software issue, but I'm not sure anymore. Any suggestions?! Thanks.

  • Upgrade dev alpha to bb os10

hi, recently i acquired my z10 with the bb os10 software. However, there is a problem with the BBM as it can't connect to server. Then i use the autoloader for bb dev alpha and the bbm works. Now i want to revert back to bb os10 for the official release, is that possible? because i can't access my media features and most features went missing. Please help me with this problems.

The BBM server issues from the past 24 hours should be remedied by now, and you should have no problems.
If they persist, you should call your mobile provider and have this issue escalated to RIM's technical support.

  • Q 10 DEV ALPHA SEVER PROBLEM

I have Q 10, and its Model Number is Dev Alpha and it is imported from UK and i am using this in Pakistan.
    There is a strange issue that it has missing;
    Docs to go

    Pictures
    Players
    and few more
I cant even able to see blackberry protect ...
it is running with 10.0.0.341 OS, can some one help that why i cant able to see these features in my BB

To load stock OS (last resort)
If for some reason the above steps don't work using BlackBerry Link you can always reload the OS using Internet Explorer. These steps are a bit trickier so read through and make sure you understand everything before you get started.
    - Make sure you don't have any BlackBerry software running on your PC (BlackBerry Link and BlackBerry Desktop Software)
    - Detach all BlackBerry smartphones, including the BlackBerry 10 device that you are going to restore.
    - Using Internet Explorer navigate to www.BlackBerry.com/updates then scroll down the page and select the Check for Updates button.
    - Connect the BlackBerry 10 device you want to restore
    - Hold the power button for 10 seconds until the device turns off, then press the power button again so it turns on.
    - A prompt will appear and the BlackBerry smartphone will show in the drop down list on your PC shortly after the LED lights up (it could show up as USB: UNKNOWN or USB: BlackBerry (PIN) – both are normal/fine).
    - Click the OK Button as soon as it becomes enabled - you only have a few seconds to do this!
    - Once the above steps are completed successfully a dialog will be displayed stating Checking for BlackBerry Device Software updates
    - Your device power itself off after two minutes. Shortly after, the device LED should turn green.
    - Continue to wait after the LED turns green and you will be prompted to install BlackBerry Device Software. Follow the prompts to install the BlackBerry Software and finish the software installation
Note: You need to be running windows again for this.

After a recent update to my BB Z10, it shows as Dev Alpha and now my BB Z 10 has got limited functions.
Please be kind enough to advise how can I go back to my original BB Z 10 software.
    Kind Regards
    Aslam Fidha

    Hey aslamfidha86,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Did you update your software from an official release from your network service provider or was it a different version from the computer?  Also what version did you update to?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Dev Alpha C - Stuck on 'Essential Gestures'

    Hey guys,
I accidentally placed an emergency call after loading the latest 10.3 OS on my Dev Alpha C going through the gesturest tutorial. It asks me to swipe down from the top where the only option is 'emergency call'. I can't see a way to skip the gestures tutorial to turn off the GMS. Can anyone help me here?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ok, looks like I had to do a battery pull and then just keep tapping the 'Try it' button. Eventually it moved me to a screen where I could swipe in an app and perform the tutorial actions. Huge PITA, but I hope I'm the edge case here.
