/dev/loop# missing

Hi folks.
I'm trying to mount an iso image with the loop device but it's gone!
I just typed this (as root): mount /bla/bla/xxx.iso /mnt/iso -o loop
And it gives me:
mount: could not find any device /dev/loop#
Where is my loop device?!?!
Thanks.

  • No loopback devices (/dev/loop#)[solved]

    Hi,
I seem to be missing the /dev/loop0, /dev/loop1, etc. devices. This means that when I try to mount a filesystem image to a folder (with -o loop) mount complains about the missing loopback devices and the mount fails. Does anyone else have the same problem? Does this need to be reported? Thanks in advance.
edit: I found the problem myself. Sorry!

    @sirocco:
That solution is great and works... but only temporarily.
In order for the system to boot with the loopback devices permanently, just add a file called loopback-dev.conf under /etc/modules-load.d/ with the following contents:
    loop

  • Loops "missing" but still in library

Upon update, many loops went 'Missing" although they are in the loop library still.
Have tried several attempts to re-index loops to no avail.
For instance, "Live Edgy Drums 07" remains, but "Live Edgy Drums 29.2" does not and has no sound.
in sound effects, "Airplane Takeoff" is in the loop library and is functioning, but "is not found" in my composition.

how do i get them back into my playlist?
On the left side ofTunes, drag from Library -> Music to the playlist you want it in.
why does it keep doing this?
Are you deleting the playlists the song(s) are in?

  • Loops missing after  installing additional loops

I just installed the additional loops and now the standard set of loops that were installed by default are now missing.
    Should I reinstall GarageBand?

Nevermind, reindexed the loops and all are now showing up.

  • GarageBand 3 loops missing

I may have deleted some of GarageBand. I have version 3.0.4 (104.7)
I can play all the instruments on the keyboard, so something is still there.
My "loops" area shows up, but it's dull gray and I'm prompted that they're missing.
Is there a download I can do, or will I have to dig out my Apple disks?
If I use the disks, will it prompt me to install only the GB loops?
    Thanks very much.

I appreciate the help, but after inserting the original disk, nothing worked. I still don't have the loops, and in the process I seem to have lost iTunes. iT won't open, even after a "RESTORE".
I didn't see anything that gave me the option of custom install.
No need to reply - I'll call support on Monday when it's slower.
Thanks for trying. I'll close this.

  • /dev/dri Missing

I have a MacbookPro 5,5 (nVidia 9400M) and am trying to use the nouveau driver.  I have installed both packages (nouveau-dri and the xf86 one), but the X server cannot start becasue there is no /dev/dri.  I have tried using a stock kernel and a custom kernel.
dmesg yeilds no output about nouveau, dri, or drm.
    The modules load fine.

I'm trying to compile some code that uses ncursesw, however I don't have the <ncursesw/ncurses.h> file on my system.  I'm new to Arch but I thought these files were normally provided by -dev packages, so ncurses-dev in this case.  But I can't find this anywhere (not even in AUR) - what am I missing?  There are other people here who are compiling programs using ncurses, what did you do to install the header files?

Ah, that did it!  I misread the autoconf macro - I thought it defined a value if you had ncursesw.h present, but rather it defines a value if you have ncursesw present, and another value if you should use <ncursesw/ncurses.h> over just <ncurses.h>
    Thanks for your help!

  • [SOLVED] /dev/sr0 and /dev/dvd missing

    Hello everybody,
I have a problem with my fresh installed Arch GNU/Linux.
If I start the PC without a CD in the drive, then both /dev/sr0 and /dev/dvd are missing.
After a loooong time I found out that starting the PC with a CD in the drive is a workaround....
Do you know what is the problem?
    Thanks!
    Bastien

  • Timed loop miss some items

    Hi all,
I am using cRIO 9025 AND NI 9203 to sample from seven current channels at 1000 Hz. I wrote the data with timestamp into a file. However, it seems that the sampling is not continous.
As you can see from the text file attached, the time stamps for the fisrt sample and the second sample have a difference which is 3 ms. Then this would happen every 208 samples. If you open the file with Notepad++, you would see it clearly.
And I found that if I decrease the number of channels from 7 to 1, the problem would happen every 656 samples which is very wierd.
I try my best but still can't understand why this happens. Could you please help me have a look at the VI?
    Thank you very much.

From looking into the VI, i can only guess why the "time jumps" occur so "deterministic".
But it is quite obvious to me that some things can be optimized which maybe can already remove the issue:
    - Eliminate redundant code (taking timestamp).
    - Remove unnecessary computations (select function, feedback for dt and false-constants).
    - Stick to one datatype (change the offset and scale to double).
    - Never ever compare doubles as equal/not equal!
    - Split up logging from acquisition into different loops. Use RT FIFOs instead of normal queues.
I assume that the "time jumps" are generated by finished late iterations and the setting to maintain the phase and to discard missed iterations....
    hope this helps,

  • Loops Missing in Index (Loop Browser)

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I've seen no adequate solution. Whenever I add loops to GarageBand, whether Apple or third party, nearly 1/5 of them never appear in the Loop Browser. The loops are on the hard drive, precisely in the spot where they were copied, but they never appear in the browser. I've tried reindexing, but to no avail. I can drag them manually from their home folders onto the loop browser, but they then lose all their associated information (instruments and all key/tempo settings, etc.). Any solutions out there? TIA.

    and the time signature?
It is hard to know the default time signature when I can't view it in the browser. There are vast numbers of loops which never appear. For example, anything labeled "Waltz" never appears (despite me selecting 3/4 time). Likewise, in the Orchestral Pack, the "Mystic" and "Victory" orchestra loops never appear, regardless of the tempo or key signature I set on a new song... I'm gathering that the latter two are 3/4, judging from listening to the loops in QuickTime.

  • Garageband loops missing

I got a new macbook and ilife 08 came installed. but most of the loops in garageband are greyed out, and i can't use them. IT gives me the option to download now/later/blah blah blah. anyhoo, i clicked download now, but it opens software update which then tells me that al my software is up to dat. when i try to click on the arrow next the loops again, it tells m that they are currently being donwloaded.

  • Some loops missing when saved as archive

I added a blue or audio loop to 2 songs in order for the save as archive to be available. It enabled the save as archive button. I saved them as archives but all the loops are not there. 2 other songs are fine. What can I do?

It doesn't make much sense to add a loop just for the "Save as Archive ..." option to be available. If it's not available, you don't need it!
So what do you mean by "all the loops are not there"? Where?

  • Help! apple loops missing

Ok, I am a novice to Logic and I have a little issue.
i am in the loop browser IN logic
when i click all it says roughly 13,000
here is the catch, i am trying to move all of my loops, voices, instruments, read/write over to my 7200rpm 1TB External
when i go to library/audio/apple loops, only some are there but not all
For example, when i am in a project and i search in the loop browser 808 (for a drum loop) it appears
However, when i search 808 in my finder it finds nothing.
    Where is it?
Also, is there a reason you cant edit/analyze roland loops in the mixer?
or does this directly relate to the fact that i cannot find them in finder
I stress that they are in my logic loop broser but not in the apple loops folder in my finder.

  • Loops missing and not downloading

I upgraded to GB'11 via the app store.  Some of the loops are there, but not all of them.  When I click on the "ghosted" loops I get a dialogue that says "the software instrument or Apple loop selected is currently being installed."  How long does it take to download the loop?  That dialogue has been popping up for about 30mins now.
I'm on a MBP with plenty of harddrive space.

Same here! This is making me go crazy. Read someweare that i just had to delete garageband and reinstall it from the apple store. Well that forced me to pay one extra time for the application. (Garabeband was preinstalled with my MacBook Pro) But still it does not download the extra loops.

  • Drum Loops Missing But Plays Fine? EXS24 Instrument "2-step remix.exs"

Half of my drum loops play just great in the loop browser but when I drag them to the playhead I get the error message "EXS24 Instrument "2-step remix.exs" not found." and the same loop that just sounded great in the loop browser instantly morphs into some nasty series of sine wave beeps and clicks. What could possibly cause this?
    Much thanks for any ideas.

That does make a lot of sense, I'll check the computers tomorrow when I get back to the studio and see. I usually sling the control over to "never" for putting the computer to sleep but I don't remember doing anything to the HD sleep.
Many thanks for that suggestion, fingers crossed.
