Dev New to Crystal - Integration Questions

<p>Hey all,</p><p>Im Lee from the UK, im currently looking at Crystal reports as a possible application we could use to integrate with our current software product.</p><p>The development platform we mainly use is edeveloper 9 (otherwise known as Magic) and a bit of C#.</p><p>To put my situation into context I will describe how we would like to integrate with Crystal:</p><p>At the moment we have hundreds of reports in our application written in magic.  Our users find these reports inflexible to their use as the slighest alteration to ranges or the design of the report has to go through the programming team as a modification since the users cannot make the change themselves.</p><p>Our ideal situation would be that we can allow 3 types of reports all working in the same software package:</p><p>1) Standard reports made by the programming team in magic.</p><p>2) Crystal reports made by the programming team as a replacement / enhancement to the standard reports. These reports could contain specific parameters that would be automatically set but could also allow the user to alter if they wanted to</p><p>3) Crystal reports made by the user to satisfy a bespoke requirement for themselves</p><p>I have downloaded the development demo of crystal and manged to use the Report viewer activeX object which works fine.  </p><p>The problem here is that our customers could be using different versions of crystal and using a COM based method may prove too restrictive on customer versions or we would have to code for each available version of crystal.</p><p>Is there an alternative method to integrate with crystal using a external &#39;report viewer&#39; that also enables us to send parameters to these reports without forcing a rigid COM approach?</p>

2. For text, it works just like Windows (Cmd+C, Cmd+X, Cmd+V). For files, OS X doesn't "Cut". You have to drag files locally to "move" them. And to external drives or flash drives, there is only "copy". You can't "move" files. Within the drive, you can move them, however.
3. I've always used Thunderbird for my mail. I have Apple Mail set up with my seven domain and Gmail accounts, but I rarely use it.
6. That looks like mounted DMGs for the installers. You unmount them by ejecting them from the desktop. Most COCOA installers will examine them to determine if they're eligible for installation, but they always show up as a volume you can't use.
7. Time Machine backs up system files. It enables users to restore from a TM backup. I've only ever done that once, back in 2010, but I was able to FULLY restore my MacBook Pro (OS10.6) in about 40 minutes.
