Develop mode says 'no photo selected', so I can't edit anything.

After importing photos into LR4 I select one and hit the develop button and then the screen shows 'no photo selected.' So I can't edit anything. The ruler where images usually are in develop mode, below the main image window doesn't show any images either. I found that if I select an image in 'library' mode then click on 'book' mode and back to 'develop' mode, then the image appears and allows me to edit it. I don't get it. Is there are different way to access photos, am I doing something wrong?

You should be able to select a photo in Library and go straight to Develop. Anything else isn't normal behaviour. Don't have a straight answer as to why it would be otherwise. Are you rendering previews on Import? Is the drive fast?

You are going to have to download and install iTunes on the computer. Your iPhone is in recovery mode. See this support document for help with that. If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • I have a preview for my images but it says the photos is missing.  Can I recover these photos?  I no longer have them on the original source.

Is there any way to recover the photos?

This is a repeat of my reply #6 above:
OK, so you used Adobe's "reference" script, but that's just a thumbnail.
Again: how clear and sharp is the image in loupe view in library module?
If it's very blurry and unsharp, then no other preview exporter/extractor is likely to do much better. However, if it's fairly clear and sharp, try mine (PreviewExporter) or Jeffrey Friedl's (Preview Extractor) - maybe you'll get lucky..

  • 7.0.2 so slow to select songs I can't edit my library

I'm using 7.0.2 for Windows. I have a pretty large Library (close to 30GB) and I'm trying to trim it down, but I can't seem to select more than two or three songs at once. I click a song, hold shift, then click maybe 10 songs down, and my computer freezes for 5 or 10 seconds and then recovers, with only the last song selected. I'm also getting the slowness and skipping issues other people have mentioned, but this issue is the intolerable one.
I'm basically a Mac loyalist -- I have two at home, plus an iPod and a shuffle -- but I have to use Windows at work, and the dismal performance of iTunes for Windows has driven me to check into alternative mp3 jukebox software to use at work. I'd love to keep using iTunes, because I do think it's the best UI out there (a one-eyed king in the land of the blind), but I can't unless I find a way around this.

Thank you so much for your patient guidance and screen captures.
    You are welcome.
My external hard drive is properly formatted for Aperture, so I am currently copying my Aperture library to it. That will take hours since it is copying 101 GB.
    o.k.
I understand that I need to clean some space on my internal hard drive and reformat the Aperture library to get back in operation.
You need to upgrade the Aperture library to be used with Aperture 3.5.1.  That will happen automatically, when you first double click the copied lirary to open it in Aperture.
I'll also need to back up my external drive with a new external drive if I make space on my internal drive by removing some photos from there and store them on my current external drive.
What do you use for backup? If you are using TimeMachine it is better to have only the Time Machine backup on the Time Machine drive . In that case would I put the Aperture library and other data on a new drive and keep the old drive for backup.

  • HT4061 How do I restore my iphone 4? Whilst updating to new software my computer crashed. This has left me with a phone that won't respond at all and itunes says 'restore your phone'. I can't press anything without getting a picture of a usb. not useful.

My computer crashed while updating my iphone 4.
My phone now will not respond other than a USB symbol to itunes.
When I plug into itunes it says 'reset your phone'.
I've tried holding the on/off and home button together, nothing.
On another note, it isn't possible to schedule into a shop in London until a week today. There is something seriously wrong with this picture.
    Any help would be awesome.
    Thanks

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • I will be working on my computer and all of a sudden it says, "Not Responding" and then I can't do anything until it decides to work again.

I have my home computer on every day, and as I'm working or on eBay or whatever, all of a sudden nothing works. At the top line on the computer screen it says, "Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding). It happens several times a day. I cannot do anything while it says that. Sometimes, maybe about five or six times a week, I have to turn my computer off, sometimes by pulling the plug because I can't do it any other way, and then when I get back on line it usually works until the next time. When this happens, most of the time you can hear click, click, in the background like something is working but I have no idea what.
When I run my virus control, nothing shows up but cookies.

Could be your work banned your particular MAC address or some such.  Maybe they ran an analysis on network usage and type of use and found you to be a large consumer on their network.  IDK what type network you are on or business you work at.  I know it's been done before to curtail employee efficiency.  Otherwise, you may need to speak to the administrator of said network.

  • I have I pod shuffle but it is just displaying White with a tick in the centre and says ok to disconnect but I can't get anything to work eg menu etc

I have I pod shuffle but is displaying a White blank with a tick in the centre below it says ok to disconnect but unable  to move from this page

This is an iPod shuffle...?  A shuffle has no screen, so your problem description does not make sense.  Your profile says "iPod nano," so is this question about an iPod nano?  If so, have you tried doing a Reset?

  • Lost tools in Develop mode

I have lost my Spot Removal, Crop Tool that appeared underneath my photos in Develop mode and I cannot reinstall them.
Can anyone please help me to restore them.

  • No photo selected

For some reason my lightroom catalogue has lost most of my photos - it says "no photo selected" and shows up 0 in all the folders on the right hand side. Even if I load my backups of this catalogue, when the photos were definitely present, the photos are still missing. HELP!!!

You seem to have accidentally opened the wrong catalog.
Try File->Open Recent, see if any of the catalogs listed there has your photos. If not, search your hard disk for any files whose name ends with .LRCAT, and open each one by double-clicking on it until you find the catalog that has your photos.

  • Photos no longer stacking after Photoshop Edit

I have Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 running on a Mac. I have the box checked to stack edited with originals.
I recently moved all of my photos to a an external Raid 1 drive - I did this within Lightroom, so that Lightroom knew where everything was. Everything seemed to be fine.
Today, I realized that after going to Photoshop and coming back into Lightroom, my photos are not stacking. Not only are they not stacking, but according to Lightroom they are not in the same folder, even though they are.
I am not working from a collection, I am working from the actual folder structure on the drive. If I go to photoshop, edit, save and come back, when it returns to Lightroom, where normally the new edited Tiff would pop up - now it returns a black screen, saying "no photo selected". If I go to the library module, the screen is still black. If I go the top of Lightroom and click on "All Photographs" the tiff file is there next to the picture. However, it is not stacked. If I try to stack it, it says that it can't stack photos that are stored in different folders.
I don't know where Lightroom is putting this Tiff file. The folder that I was editing from had 20 photos in it. I went into photoshop, came back with a tiff, and there are still only 20 photos in the folder, yet if I go up to all photos, it is there, so Lightroom put it somewhere.
When I go look at my external hard drive, the tiff file is there. It is right next the raw. In the same folder. So, it seems that Photoshop is putting it back in the right folder, but Lightroom is not.
    Thanks,
    Pam

Okay, just realized that it is putting the tiff files in a another copy of the Gmax Mini.  You can see in the screen shot that it has my working drive, and then a second version of the Gmax Mini, with just the Tiff files in it!  Is this because it is a Raid 1?

  • Can't edit PDF, not even select anything

    Hello community!
I got a PDF that is not write-protected, not passworded, not restricted in any way from what my Acrobat 9 tells me, nor it does not seems to be PDF/X, PDF/E or PDF/A.
But I can not edit anything or even select text or objects. The pages are normal A4 pages with text and images, nothing scanned, created in Indesign CS5.5 (from the document properties), but exported
    with something called Ghostscript.
Any clue what switch I need to toggle to make this refusing POS bend to my will?
    Thanks in advance.

Does it definitely contain any text? You can test that by trying to copy/paste text. It could be outlined shapes (nasty, but often done).
Does it definitely contain images? A photo is an image but a logo might be drawn shapes.
What happens if you use the Touch-Up Object Tool (not Select Object Tool), then Edit > Select all?

  • Lightroom 4 Bug: can only see photos in Library mode, not develop mode

This may be related to other imported catalog bugs, but does not seem to be quite the same. In Lightroom 4, with an upgraded Lightroom 3 catalog:
    1. Select a photo in Library mode.
    2. Click on Develop to go to Develop mode
Screen shows "No photo selected". I cannot edit photos in Develop mode.
I can see and edit photos that are found in smart collections, but not photos that are simply in my collections from 2012, 2011, etc. folders

This happened to me, too, after importing a couple older LR3 catalogs (upgrading/consolidating). I could see the photo in Library module but when I pressed "D" (single photo selected) I was getting the "no photo selected" error message--for every photo I tried. I wasn't able to open any photos at all in the develop module. (These were photos that were fine before installing LR4 and upgrading.) Photos were from imported LR3 and LR4 Beta catalogs.
I restarted and everything seems ok--for now!
So if you come across this thread with this same issue, restart and see if that helps. (Before restarting LR I optimized as suggested above, which did nothing for the "no photo selected" issue. And this isn't related to the parent folder issue, I left my photos in the same place and didn't have more than 3k photos in any of the parent folders. I read in other threads that people had the issue again after importing other catalogs. I'm about to do that so I'll report back.

  • Upgrade LR 1.7 to 4.2 - Library photos can't be opened in Developer mode?

I'm running Snow Loepard 10.6.8.  I upgraded from LR 1.7 to LR 4.2 today, and chose to upgrade the catalog as part of that. This all went fine - no errors.
I can see all my old photos in Library mode, and when I click on any of them - I can do Quick Edits (or anything else allowed) in Library mode;  however, LR 4.2 isn't leting me open the selected pic in Developer mode. What's going on?  Baffled by this one.....hoping for simple answer.

That seems strange Chaz, is ther any message?

  • The Navigator in "Develop" mode in Lightroom 5 doesn't show current photo

In Library mode, the Navigator does what I'm used to from previous versions of Lightroom -- it shows a preview of the currently selected photo.  However, when I go into "Develop" mode, the Navigator chooses another photo from the collection I'm working on (always the same one, it seems) and shows that one.  This is frustrating, because I like to use the Navigator in Develop mode to see previews of an edit I'm working on.  It's also just nonsensical that it shows a different photo.
Is this a setting I need to set somewhere, or a bug?
    Thanks!

Michelle, where did you find that option? I have this problem as well with LR5, but can't find that option.
