Develop module options just disappeared

I'm new to Lightroom - just downloaded v.4 a few days ago and love it.  Just now I installed OnOne presets (free pack recommended by Lightroom website). When I opened Lightroom after installing, my Develop module options had changed - few options, no "shadow" option (now it's called "recovery"), etc.  I uninstalled OnOne but problem is the same as before.  Any ideas? Thanks!

Your images are in Process Version 2010.  Change them to 2012 for the new tools.

  • The main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window.  How do I recover them?

The main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window.  How do I recover them?  I'm working with Lightroom 5.3.  The missing controls are the sliders for exposure, contrast, clarity, etc.  I must have inadvertantly clicked something that made them disappear but nothing I've tried brings them back.  I've never had this experience in the years I've been using Lightroom (since version 1.1).

Right-click on any other item Tone Curve for ex., and check on "Basic" if that's what you are missing.
If you miss the complete Develop module right-click any other item  Library for ex and put a check on Develop

  • LR5 upgraded catalog is only giving LR4 Develop module options - help!

After a successful upgrade to LR5 from LR4 on an old catalog I'm encountering an unusual situation:
when I use the Develop module the palette options are not LR5.
Instead of Shadows, for example, my LR5 catalog is showing Recover and Fill Light from LR4.
I'm working on a MacPro tower and the catalog in question is on an external hard drive.
I've checked the upgrade status and it is definitely a LR5 upgraded catalog.
I've upgraded many catalogs over the years from LR1 to now and this is the first time I've
    seen this issue.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

You are working with images that were processed with an older version of Lightroom and process 2010. Lightroom honors those previous adjustments and retains the 2010 process. To change to the new 2012 process go to the calibration tab in the develop module and make the appropriate choice.

  • Bug?  In LR5 Mac, Develop module, option+slider undocks right panel!

Holding down option key (LR5 Mac) with slider causes entire right panel to undock
In the Develop module, I used to be able to hold down the option key while adjusting a slider, giving some extra features in the panel section.  (To see the extent of masking in the Detail panel group, in white/black, for example)
Now, the entire panel undocks and I can't slide the slider, instead the panel moves around in th LR5 workspace. While I am unintentionally moving the panel, there is a blue border that appears around the panel.  See the screenshot.  Has anyone had this issue, and if so, were you able to fix it?

In develop module, Details panel group (sharpening), I hold down option key and attempt to move any of the sliders.  Instead of the view changing as described in this page: http://laurashoe.com/2012/11/26/develop-module-secret-lightroom-powers-revealed-the-altopt ion-key/, the whole panel becomes undocked and moves in the LR workspace.
While its moving, there is a blue border around the panel window (as I show in my screenshot).
The slider does not move, the whole panel becomes undocked. In the screenshot, I was attempting to slide the Sharpening/Detail slider.
I am working with OS Mavericks, LR 5.3

  • LR5 - Selected image does not display in the Develop Module

I recently upgraded to LR5 from LR4.1.   I have seen on several occasions where the selected image in the Develop Module does not appear.  I can move back to the LIbrary view and the image appears, but when I switch back to the Develop Module, the image disappears and only a black box appears (dark grey really).   This seems to happen after I have deleted flagged files using the ALT-Backspace shortcut.    This has happeded when  I deleted while in the Library and Develop Module, but does not happen every time.   I have disabled the "Show photo on Mouse Over" view option.  Prior to that, the preview window shows the selected or moused over photo.
The only thing I can do to get the develop module to work again is to restart Lightroom.  I've seen no other posts regarding this issue and it is very annoying when trying to go through 4000 photos!   I can find no place to report bugs, so I am posting this here.

i found LR5 the most bug infested LR version ever.
i "use" it only as test setup.
real work i still do with LR 4.4.

How does this issue get reported to Adobe as a bug or is the fact that it is in the forum take care of that?
nope.. in this forum you will only hear that this is not such a big issue and will be fixed soon.
honestly im waiting for some bugs to be fixed since v3.6..... and i gave up on reporting new bugs to adobe.
i just hope that some day they will be fixed.
there is a text layer bug in photoshop i reported back in 2011 and that´s still in photoshop CC.....

  • Lightroom shows no image in develop module

I just downloaded the new Lightroom and when in Develop module, I just get a blue screen. When I select before and after in develop, I get picture on L and blue screen on R.

    Hi All,
This is a GPU related issue. Please update your GPU drivers from the manufacturers website.
In the mean while, disabling "Use Graphics Processor" (Preferences > Performance), should help load the Develop module.

  • Old Develop Module in new upgrade LR5

I am trying out the 30 day LR 5 trial to see if I would like to upgrade.  For some reason my Develop Module contains the same tools as my older version, though I know I shouldn't even see a "brightness" tool...  How do I fix this and get the new tools so I can continue my 30 day trial?

You are probably viewing photos edited in Process Version 2010.
Update the photos to PV 2012 and access the new tools
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/develop-module-options.html
Be warned that there are big differences between PV2010 and PV2012 and you may not always like the changes.
    http://digital-photography-school.com/understanding-lightroom-process-versions
So it's up to you whether you want to convert all existing photos to PV2012 in one step - or if you want to convert them one/several at a time.
New photos imported into LR5 will automatically be edited in PV2012 so there will be no conversion required and the tools in the Develop module will be the new ones as expected.

  • Developer Module only shows blue square with a white cross, images are displayed in the library ok but not im developer Module

Ive just updated to LR 6 from LR 5.
The app seemed to launch ok but as I was looking around none of my photos will open in the developer module, they just have a blue box with white cross??

It seems to be something to do with Lightroom 6 accessing the GPU. I had this problem and under the "Performance" tab in "Preferences" (Edit menu), there's a box that says "Use graphics processor". I unticked this box and now the images are displayed in the developer module. I'll need to investigate further to find out why Lightroom is not working with my GPU but at least I can use it now.

  • "Edit in Photoshop Elements" an Option in Development Module?

In viewing the tutorials for Lightroom (while considering whether to purchase it), I noted that there was integration with PS CS2 (and soon, CS3) and that it works like this: In the "Develop" module select "Photo," then "Edit in Photoshop CS2;" the key here is that once editing in CS2 is complete the saved edits are automatically incorporated back into the Lightroom Library. Because I don't have, and may never need, CS2 (or CS3) along with Lightroom (if I get it) I'd hope that the exact same integration is possible with Photoshop Elements 5. So my question is simple: If PSE 5 is installed along with Lightroom will "Develop" and "Photo" include an option for "Edit in Photoshop Elements 5" and have the same automatic integration with the Lightroom Library? (Or, if PSE 5 is not a listed option but is accessible through the "edit with other" option, will the saved file still be integrated automatically into the Lightroom Library?)
Thanks. (And I did search the forum for this answer; sorry if it was there and I missed it.)

I had a demo copy of elements on my system when I installed the beta version of LR. Along side that I had my old and trusty PS 7.LR found PS7
and I set up Elements as a second option for editing. I bought LR and installed it over the beta version. From then on I was given the option to import from Elements in the file menu.PS7 was greyed outwhen I checked to see if I could still edit under PS7.
The demo of Elements expired so I uninstalled it.LR still offers me the option to import from Elements. I have tried the registry hack and all looks well but it is still grayed out in LR and it still "sees" a program which is no longer on my system. I have had a good look around the system including the registry for remnants of Elements that might still be around but cant see any.
Anyway it seems to me that LR can find Elements if it wants to even if it isnt't there and as I have said elsewhere on this forum, why do we have to hack the registry to get some parts this program to work? Adobe need to sort this and all the other bugs out. They owe it to all of us who have paid good money to them for what seems to be a poorly finished product.
