Developer/2000 Server on Linux

Does anybody know when this will be available ?
null

You have to define a virtual directory within $ORACLE_HOME/forms/server/forms.conf, adding a line like this
AliasMatch ^/icons/(..*) "/home/oracle/icons/$1"
where "/home/oracle/icons/" is the physical directory (where are icon files), and "/icons/" the virtual one. Then, in $ORACLE_HOME/forms/java/oracle/forms/registry you add/change these lines in Registry.dat :
default.icons.iconpath=http://<machine>:<port>/icons
default.icons.iconextension=gif
where icons is the virtual directory.
Don't forget to restart opmn.

    My greetings!
Has anyone ported an existing Developer/2000 client application for MS Win to Linux? Is it possible to produce a Motif-based executable for Linux or is there only one way of porting by making web-based solution?
Thanks a lot in advance for any hint!

  • Developer 2000 - Server Install - Client Install

I have Developer 2000 and Oracle database 7.2.3 running on the same HP AlphaServer. I'd like to separate the database from the application and move the database to a separate machine. Is that just a case of installing the database elsewhere and configuring SQL*Net, or would I need to reinstall the Developer 2000 software as a client install on the AlphaServer too?

    Hi Christian,
Developer 6i and Developer 2000 are quite separate releases of the same
product and therefore must be in separate homes.
The Oracle 8i Client should also be in a separate home to these two.
If you are referring to Designer 6i, then you can install Designer and
Developer into the same Oracle Home (as they work closely together), but
they MUST be the same release, e.g.:
    - Designer 6i and Developer 6i
    - Developer 2000 and Designer 2000
We strongly recommend you do NOT mix releases in the same home, such as
Designer 6i and Developer 2000, as you will have problems getting both
products to work (they are essentially incompatible).
    Regards,
    Designer Product Management

It's coming, the port will be done after the 6i release which
    will happen early in 2000.

  • Developer 6i Installation with Oracle 8i on Windows 2000 Server

    Hi Folks,
We are using Oracle 8i (8.1.7) with Developer 6i for the past 2-3 years. Oracle 8i is installed on Windows 2000 Server and the client machines have Developer 6i installed. Using the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility, the clients and the server are linked perfectly and we have never experienced any major issue regarding the connectivity from the client’s sides.
Now my question is that, is there any possibility that we can also install Developer 6i on the server, ‘cause we have tried this several times and every time after installing Developer 6i on the server, the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility does not invokes and obviously we are unable to use any of the Developer 6i products and moreover after installing Developer the already installed 8i Database does not gets mounted and we are also unable to use the database.
Are we missing some basic stuff here or do we need to run some patch for Windows 2000 Server?
Another thing, all our forms and reports are residing on client’s hard disks; can we also have the option that the forms and reports should also reside on the server so that we can easily update our forms and reports definitions from the server side?
    TIA
    Hassan

    Hi,
Yeah, I installed both the products i.e, database and developer in separate directories.

  • Is Developer 6 or 2000 available on Linux?

    Hi There,
I already installed Oracle 8 in my RedHat Linux and Developer 6
in my NT BOX. The Developer 6 is very good, but too slow on NT. I
am wandering if any version of Developer 6 or Developer 2000 is
available on Linux, or not. If yes, where or when I can find it?
    Any information will be appreciated.

  • Export from 8i / 2000 server and import into 10g/ linux(centos)

we are trying to migrate from 8i/ 2000 server to 10g/centos
We exported source database( 8i / 2000 server),
could you suggest accepted step by step procedure for this exp/impdp.
i prefer imp rather than impdp while going for upward migration ( ie 8i to 10g)
    please offer your suggestions.

For syntax you can refer to documentation:

  • Moving a database in windows 2000 server to RED HAD

    Hello Everybody
I have a database develop with oracle 10 g over windows 2000 server and i have to install completed in a server with oracle 10 g but in red hat linux . What the best way to to this operation ?

since you are using 10g, you can also use transport tablespace with differenct OS. If you are 10g Rel.2 side, you can use transport database new feature to transport database between cross platforms.
If data size is small, then, use exp and import.

  • Developer 2000 1.0 and Windows 2000

    Hi everybody
We got a little problem here. Our database is 8i (8.1.7) running in Linux, but in our workstations, where developers work, are NT 4.0 with Developer 2000 1.0 (You know, Forms Designer 4.5 and stuff). Our application was built with Developer 2000 1.0 and this is the product that is installed in our clients (the runtime only for normal users) We're still in a client/server world here. We would like to go from NT to 2000 Professional in all our workstations. Will still Developer 2000 1.0 run in this new platform? Which is the latest OS that is supported by Developer 2000 1.0 and/or Developer 2000 1.0 runtime?
    Thanks

This is a question that I think you would be better asking in the Forms.
However, I will just make this point: what do you mean by "supported"? Forms 4.5 is not a supported version of the tool. You may still be able to find an old certification matrix kicking around on the web but Oracle probably won't show it on an official one any more.
Of the top of my head I don't see why moving from NT to Win2K should causes any major problems - they're basically the same o/s. However, given that Win2K has only a limited lifespan (remember M$ was going to pull the plug this December) why are you going through the grief of porting your apps to it now?
    Cheers, APC

  • Installation problem JDK 1.5 on Windows 2000 server

I am trying to install the new J2SE Development Kit 5.0 for Windows 32 bit on a windows server 2000 computer with sp4. When I attempt to execute the file
    I get the following result
    # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
    # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x036eb514, pid=1872, tid=1592
    # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.4.2_10-b03 mixed mode)
    # Problematic frame:
    # C [awt.dll+0xb514]
I see that the log file refers to Hot spot client 1.4.2 - I'll post the rest of log if necessary but thought I would try asking in case the solution is clear without the full log.
I understand JDK 5.0 can be installed on windows 2000 server with service pack 3 or 4. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    I've checked all these possibilities:
    (1) DLL's associated with JAVA - none other than 1.5
    (2) Path makes no reference to 1.4 anywhere
    (3) No othe java programs are listed in add/remove programs
    (4) no oracle product is installed
    (5) windows 2000 registry does not contain anything obviously associated with 1.4.2
IS any Java product included automatically with Windows 2000 Service pack 4?
Here is the full log file text:

  • Oracle 8 installation in Windows 2000 Server

I can't install oracle Enterprise Manager (Oracle 8 product) in a Windows 2000 Server system. The installation program show me this error message:
"Unable to delete the NT Service for the
    SQL * NT V2 listener"
Can any body have the solution?

Supposedly you need to find these 3 files.
SQLNET,TNSNAMES, LISTENER using your windows find from start. change the names of the dev ones to .bak or something else.
copy the files from your 8i/network/admin into those 2 other places (forget the/samples directories). restart the database and it should connect (Developer stuff to database) A friend of mine did this on W2K and it wokred fine. I have tried it on win98 with 8i personal edition for win 98 and DEV 6 and it failed. So if anyone knows anything I am missing let me know. SQL+ works fine so I knw the DB is fine.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Call Developer 2000 Reports/Forms from PL/SQL stored proc.

    Hello all,
I am searching for a method for a stored procedure on Oracle 8.0 to call a Oracle Developer 2000 Report or Form.
    Any suggestions,
    Thanks,
    Julian

    No offense,
Do you mean calling a trigger in a Form or Report to fire off another of the same? Or do you mean how do I fire Forms from a Database stored procedure?
Please I don't mean any offense, it is just hard, sometimes to say simple concepts and not sound, well, bad.
Otherwise think about it. A Stored procedure is run inside the database, it has no idea where you client is, and doesn't know which type of client you have (X-Windows, Microsuck), and doesn't know how to fire off an app on the client.
One concept that is hard, sometimes, to get is where things are run. Forms runs on an Apps Server (Java screens), or a client, like on a PC. Stored procedures run, usually, on a whole different box, a database server. The database server is not that well connected that it can fire off a app on a client. Try to go to a Unix database server and run a command to fire off Internet Explorer on your client!? Not real easy to do.

  • Oracle 10.2.0.3 with Developer 2000 (Form/Report 6i)

    Hi Experts
we are using Oracle 9i database and Developer 2000(6i) Last few years. Now I want to replace 9i database with Oracle 10.2.0.3 , in this scenario can Oracle database 10.2 will work with 6i form/report.
what I did. I installed Oracle 10g (10.2) and Developer 2000(6i) on Windows XP and restored data backup. on this machine software working. Now I want to ask how can I run this software on Clients (Windows XP).
My past practice was I used to installed oracle 9i database client with Developer 2000.
now in current scenario what Should I do. because there is no any client installation available on Oracle database 10.2.
how to manage connection client with server (windows Xp).

now in current scenario what Should I do. because there is no any client installation available on Oracle database 10.2.Well First ORACLE 10g Database will work with developer 2000 , But to get oracle client software you have to Raise SR On http://support.oracle.com
    Otherwise
You need to upgrade to 11.2.0.2 as i think its not supported with developer 2000 , So you have to upgrade the whole Environment Forms/reports 10g and Database 11g
