Developer 6.0 and oracle 8.1.5 personal for 98 connectivity problem

I have see a couple postings on this. Most say to move the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files from the oracle 8i(home)/network/admin/ to developer(home)/network/admin or /net80/admin/ directories. My problem is that there isnt an sqlnet.ora file in the oracl8i directory. I did install the NT version just like this and all is fine but I need to install the 98 version here at home. If you can help I would appreciate it. Post here or e-mail me at [email protected]
Thanks

I've been dealing with the same problems in the english version but could bypass thiss by doing the folowing.
-Just ignore the disk space stuff
-Ignore the charset message, also
-When creating a database, choose custom and then select the WE8ISO8859P1 char set. It worked for portuguese, must work for french also.
-Everyone here recommended, and I do the same, leave the database creation for later, not during instalation.
Good Luck!

  • Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC - Oracle data provider

Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC112021.
I can't seem to get the ODAC to work correctly with the Web Developer Express. When putting in a gridview I only see the standard adapters. The one from Oracle does not appear. I have spent days trying to figure out why but no luck. No one else seems to have this problem. I do not see any errors when I installed the ODAC. I've followed a few tutorials.

    and
    http://www.smart-soft-nz.com/oracle-and-asp-dot-net.html
I tried using the Windows adapters but they just don't seem to work. I can get results in the query builder but when I go to the next step in the wizard I get the constraints error. I've done all the research on that with no luck so I wanted to use the ODAC. This killing me! This really shouldn't be that hard. I've added the dll to the references but again it's just not an option. If anyone could give me a little direction that would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dear Friends,
Installing SP1 and updates to it solved the first issue. So the database now seems to be of type 2008 R2.
Deleting some files solved the second issue.
    However, another issue remains.
My most important projects were created with a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded from Microsoft and installed on July 3, 2012. This version of VWDX has now been lost, because my hard drive recently ceased to function and had to be replaced.
On the new hard drive I have a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded yesterday (May 28, 2014). As indicated above, I also installed SP1 and related updates.
When I load a project that was created in the version of VWDX 2010 that was installed almost two years ago and try to open the database connection, I get, in essence, the following error message:
"The database C:\Users\...\Database.mdf cannot be opened, because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported."
So it seems that the original database version was 661, whereas the version downloaded yesterday is 655. It seems very strange that a version downloaded now should be earlier than a version downloaded two years ago. Does anyone have an explanation or a solution?
Thank you all for your trouble, and best regards.
    Eric (orexin)
P.S. The site from which I obtained VWDX yesterday was:
www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/visual-web-developer-express and the executive was called VWD2010SP1AzurePack.exe.

You have to configure the TNSNAMES.ora in your ...orant\net80
\admin directory for developer 6 as it is in a different home
than 8i. Also you should adapt your 8i listener so you have only

  • Inquire about the best laptop specifications for Developing Windows Apps and 3D modelling Animation using "Kinect for Windows v2"?

I need some help in choosing laptop that is most compatible with "Kinect for Windows v2"; in order to develop Windows Apps, and 3D modelling Animation and Character Design. Which is better (Specifications):
    HP Pavilion Notebook PC 15-p150ne
    AMD A10-5745M +
    AMD Radeon R7 M260 (2 GB DDR3L dedicated) +
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, OR
    HP Pavilion Notebook PC 15-p034ne
    Intel Core i5-4210U + NVIDIA GeForce 840M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) + 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L

The second system with the Intel chipset will more than likely have the Intel USB3 chipset required for Kinect. As for GPU they are similar, but the i5 with DDR3 1600MHZ ram is a better option. Keep in mind, if you are doing anything in-depth for
3D, a laptop isn't the best options, but if you have to go mobile then you have to decide what is best for your requirements.

  • Oracle SQL Developer O/P and Toad O/P is Different for Same QUERY.

    Hi,
can any one calrify me why i'm getting different result when i run the same QUERY in Oracle Developer and TOAD.
When i Ran a Query in TOAD i could see Null&Data in a column called Customer_Category but when i Ran the same Query in Oracle SQL Developer i'm getting all Null N i couldnt see any data in the column.
i have not performed any DDL r DML statement, just i got the Query and i Ran it in TOAD & Oracle SQL Developer.
I found that the OUT PUT is different for perticular column.
    Thanks in Advance....

    > I found that the OUT PUT is different for perticular column.
The RENDERING of data from Oracle (or any other server such as a POP3 server, web server, etc) IS DONE BY THE CLIENT.
So to repeat - RENDERING IS DONE BY THE CLIENT.
If one client selects to display the output received from the server differently than another client, it is a CLIENT ISSUE.
It is not a server issue. It is not a SQL issue. It is not a PL/SQL issue.
In other words, wrong forum for this question. You have a pure client side rendering problem which has absolutely nothing to do with SQL and/or PL/SQL.

  • Developer 6.0 and Oracle 8.1.6

I have a NT Network (Primary Domain Controller, 2 Clients, 1 additional server).
I installed Oracle 8.1.6 EE on the additional server and 8.1.6 Client on one client. Everything is fine up to here. Then I tried to install Dev. 6.0 to the client, but the installation said that "Oracle 8.1.6 is already in the Oracle Home OraHome81 e:\oracle\ora81" so I named another Oracle Home and called it
orant in e:\orant. The installation (Developer, Complete) did not get very far, because it stopped with the message that "Oracle Net8 Client does not support multiple homes" and I should "install it into OraHome81.
Which components should I install ?
    Please help.
    Thanks

I then tried a custom install of Dev. 6.0 but I removed product by product and the error always was "<product name> can't be installed into multiple oracle homes".
I deleted the whole Oracle 8.1.6 Client and just installed Dev. 6.0 into DEFAULT_HOME. I had a TNS-Error Can't resolve service name.
Copying the tnsnames.ora does not help. You have to manipulate it a litte bit, because Net8 TNSNAMES.ORA needs .world after the connect string.
My question now is: Is it a problem to connect with SQL-Plus 8.0.5 which was installed with Dev. 6.0 to a 8.1.6 Database ?

  • Windows 2000 and Oracle 8i (8.1.6) In stall problem

    Hi,
I have installed oracle 8i on a windows 2000 server. I have problem configuring a client machine to access the oracle database using service names.
I configured the service name using net8 assistant. When I try to access the database it gives me a TNS:Protocol Adapter error.(ORa 12560).
I spoke to some dba and they said its windows 2000 problem.
I did not have problems configuring a service name from the same client machine to a oracle database installed on windows NT(service pack 5).
I am able to access the database on windows 2000 through sql plus/other oracle application after I configured a service name using TCP/IP protocol.
I also able to access oracle databases installed on other windows nT machine from the Windows 2000 server client apps.
    any suggestions ?
    Thanks

  • Z30 and JBL Synchros Reflect BT Sport bluetooth connection problem - lagging

Hi,  I purchased a JBL Synchros Reflect BT Sport bluetooth headset, connects well to Z30, but my problem that if I put the phone next to me and I am moving next to the phone (like in gym) lots of times it looses the bluetooth connection and music is lagging. When I return to the former positition during gym, I heard the music again. Same problem when I have the blackberry in the backback and want to hear it. Sometimes music lagging heavily. I tried the headset on different phones without any problem. Lol, if I put one hand onto the headset and put the other hand between the phone and the headset and move my hand between the phone and the headset, the music starts lagging. The phone is next to me, so no real distance. If I move the phone position (for example face down) the problem stops on that position and start from another position. Maybe the phone does not send the Bluetooth signal well? I guess I have 2 high end product: JBL is not a no name manufacturer as well as the Blackberry. I can expect a professional result. Blackberry Protection is on, music is on the SD, but the phone is encrypted - only phone, not SD - but I dont think this is the source of the problem.
    Thank you!

You need to put the Sennheiser and the Sony into Pairing mode. You may have to reset them if their Pairing memory is full.

  • Install sqldeveloper on windows 7 64 Bit and Oracle 11.2

    Hi,
how can I find the rigth jdk. I installed JDK on C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23.
I installed Oracle 11.2 including sqldeveloper. But I cannot find the correct folder to start sqldeveloper.
Where can I find this path?
When I include a path with java.exe I get the error "Unable to find a Java Virtual Machine. To point to a locacion of a Java Virtual Machine, pleaser refer to the Oracle9i Jdeveloper Install guide (jdev\install.html)" Where can I find this?
    Thank you for your help
    Siegwin

I am on Windows 7 64 bit. I see that installing Oracle 11.2 database installs SQL Developer also but that doesn't work. I get the .bat file not found crap. What I then did was do a seperate install of SQL Developer for 64 bit, but that does NOT install the jdk.
I then did the java install from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-6u25-download-346242.html
    I selected: jdk-6u25-windows-x64.exe
I then point to the java.exe where this install loaded it (c:\program files\Java\jdk1.6.0_25\bin when I start up sql developer and it still gives the same error. I delete the SetJavaHome value in the sqldeveloper.conf file and try again over and over but it still gives the same error.
So, I have windows 7 - 64 bit operating system. I have Oracle 11.2 database installed. I have a seperate installation of SQL Developer 64 bit and I have the java jdk for 64 bit installed.
Nothing is working. Can anyone please steer me in the correct direction? Should I delete the second install of SQL Developer 64 bit and to an install of SQL Developer 32 bit?
    Please help

  • RE: Rel 3.0 and Oracle

    Debbie,
Yes, we have the same (or similar) problem. When trying to connect to
Oracle I get some type of deserialization error & a connection is never
made. I've sent it in to tech support & I haven't heard anything back.
On a side note, I'm also having a problem on 3.0.E.0 when I lose the
initial connection & try to re-connect. The reconnect fails. We're
trying to implement the Forte Persistence Plan using the DBResourceMgr.
I've been working with Tech Support for over 2 weeks, but we still
    haven't solved the problem.

    To all,
We have just upgraded our development environment to Forte Rel
    3.0.f.2 and
now we can no longer get a connection to Oracle 7.3.3. Has anyone else
    had a
problem after the upgrade to 3.0? We are using the remote connection.
Automatic_ipc has been set to off in the sqlnet.ora Nothing has
    changed on the
Oracle side or with any Oracle related environment parameters.
    We have put a
problem into Forte on this also.
Basically our development has ground to a halt, so any help would
    be greatly
    appreciated.

    To all,
Thank you all for the quick response. The problem turned out to be the
FORTE_STACK_SIZE parameter. Although we were not getting the sympton
described in tech note 10908 I decided to set the parameter to the
recommended minimum described in the tech note. After setting the parameter
we were able to connect to Oracle.
So if anyone has connection problems when upgrading, this is something to
look at even if your symptoms do not match those described in the tech note.
    Thanks again,

  • Crystal Reports and Oracle Dates

    CA Forum: General
Hey Guys, I am experiencing some issues with Crystal Reports Developer XI (SP4) and Oracle Dates. Situation:I have a view setup in oracle database, i use this view to base my reports. Within the view there is a logtime column (to_date(logtime,'DD-MM-YYYY') & to_date(logtime,'DD-MON-YYYY') -: i have used both) When i connect to the database the database expert (view on the left of the screen) displays the logtime column as date time, but when i go to refersh the report with data with the logtime as group 1, i get a whole lot of errors:1: Failed to Retrieve data from Database2: Failed to Retrieve data from Database    Details: ORA-01861: Literal does not match format String    Database vendor code: 18613: Failed to Retrieve data from Database    Details: Failed to execute SQL statement. OCI Call................................... Anybody got any ideas why this is happening, if i use the to_char the report work fine...well it will not sort by date!! Any help, most appreciated.... CA Forum: General
Hello there and thanks for your reply,
I have found the problem, it was not really a problem but a slight misjudgment of the use of the to_date function in oracle!
I should have used to_date in conjunction with to_char
    to_date(to_char(logtime,'DD-MM-YYYY'),'DD-MM-YYYY')
    Presto
No need fo any formula in crystal to do this....

  • Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Services, ODBC and Oracle 10.2.0.5 32-bit client

    Hi All,
I am setting up an application to work under windows 2008 R2 terminal services/Citrix XenApp which is 32bit. This application uses ODBC connections and not relying directly on TNSName for connection resolution.
I installed 10.2.0.3 and patched to 10.2.0.5, and when trying to create an ODBC connection I only see "junk" in the connections list for TNS Server Name without regard to what exists in the TNSNAME.ORA file.
We have JDE on the same server which uses TNSNAMES and work fine, so I don't think it is Oracle client related directly, but I've not seen this before.
Has anyone seen this before and know how to resolve?
    Geoff
