Developer 6.0 and starter database on NT

Hello
I had Oracle 8.0 on NT and i usually use it
But now when I install Developper 6.0 i can't
start the database. I had error
"Procedure entry point nsevevent could not be located in the dynamic link library NS80.DLL"
Removing developer 6.0 and reinstall my oracle database, then my database work well before i re-install developer 6.0
I copy the NS80.dll in temp directory, install developer and reput my copy of NS80.dll in oracle directory, I got the same error message.
Using Developer to start database or using oracle application (navigator, sqlplus..) or try manually and I got the same message.
If anyone know how to make developer6.0 and oracle 8.0 working on NT, make me a reply
please. I'm trying to do my OCP (developer) at home so all my work is stopped by this.
Thank

Are you using Oracle 8.0.3?
I also could not make it work with Dev6 (I remember it also gives you such a warning before starting installation). I then installed 8.0.5 and Dev6 works flawlessly with this.

  • Stop and start database for cold backup

    Hi,
    Database :Oracle 10g R1
    OS : Red hat 3
I have a RAC database with 2 nodes.
I build this script to make a cold backup of the database. (I will put it in the cron tab).
My question is the SRVCTL will work in this scripts??
    # ***** COLDBACKUP ORACLE DATABASE ON LINUX *****

    cd ${DIRECTORY}
    # ***** SHUTDOWN THE DATABASE *******
    export oracle_sid=RCDB
    srvctl stop database -d RCDB

I need to put a quick policy backup ... and cold
backup it's what I use and it works. And reduces the availability of your cluster.
The problem about RMAN is that we never use it. I
have to learn about it to make scripts to test....
and this will tack me 2 or 3 days...I'd assume that installing RAC didn't go overnight, so why underfund the crucial part of any database system, the backup?
There's even a step by step guide for backup on the Getting Started: DBAs page.
Samples (and changes) on the latest version of RMAN can be found for example in RMAN Enhancements.
Or take a look at this Oracle Magazine article:Faster Backup, Faster Recovery
Backup and Recovery Basics in the user documentation may also be a good starting point.

  • Stopping and starting database in 10G OEM

Hello, has anyone run into an issue trying to stop and then start a database within the OEM console in 10G? We are able to stop and start the db with sql and windows services. We can stop the db in OEM but can't start it.

When you come to the startup/shutdown:confirmation page before actually starting up the db, does the Operation parameter say "startup database in open mode" or is it "... in mount mode"?

  • Stop and start databases

I need to shutdown all my databases (ifs_Data and OEMREP), because computer people are going to run periodically a process to backup them. But I cannot find how to stop and start my oracle databases by commands (I need to create a bat file). I am using Win2000, Oracle 9 and iFS 9.0.1
    Thanks for the suggestions,

This can be a procedure to shutdown a database:
    SET ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>
    sqlplus /nolog
    conn / as sysdba
    shutdown <option>;
    exit
<option> = Abort ( Not recommendable ), Immediate, transactional, normal.

  • Installing and Starting Database

    Hi,
I have installed Personel Oracle8.1.5 in an Stand alone PC by selecting Client Installation option. When I completed my Installation I have given a service name also but there is no option to start database unlinke in Oracle7. When I go to SQL Prompt by entering Scott/Tiger or Scott/Tiger@ORCL it is giving error like,
    - ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
    and
    - ORA-03114: TNS:no Listener
    and many messages.
    Please help me...
I will be very much thankful.
    Syed Muzzammil

    Hi Simon,
a silly question just to clarify the issue: Do you have a MaxDB Installation on your PC where Database Studio was installed?
What does the Event Log tell you about the issue?
    See Window->Show View->Event Log Viewer
    or if not listed there
    Window->Show View->Other ...->Database Studio->Event Log Viewer
Could you please have a look and tell me what it says? If you find a message that is related to your problem double click it and press the little Copy to clipboard icon in the upper right corner then you can paste the message in your reply.
    Cheers,

  • Stopping / Starting database instances

    Guys
How does one shutdown and start databases from the linux command
    prompt.
    Many thanks
    null

    1. Make sure your environment is set for the correct database
    (PATH, ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, LD_LIBRARY_PATH)
    2. To shutdown the database, enter the commands below at the
    command line:
    svrmgrl
    connect internal
    shutdown immediate
    exit
    3. To startup the database:
    svrmgrl
    connect internal
    startup
    exit

  • How to Install emacs, openssh and start oracle database and get a connect?

As suggested by another poster, I installed the prebuilt appliance at [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html] and [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/downloads/index.html] with the intent of running oracle database in a linux vm as a guest on windows 7 and connecting to it using JDBC from the windows host.
This is running but I don't know how to install other stuff. I tried "sudo yum install openssh" and "sudo yum install emacs" and "sudo service sshd status" and none of these worked (it could not find these packages). I could not get apt-get or app-get or aptget to work either. I was hoping that "uname -a" would tell me if this was fedora or debian or something else but no luck. What command do I use to learn the distro name?
How do I make ifconfig tell me what the ip address so I can use "scp" and "ssh" to get into the box? Ok, /sbin/ifconfig works and I see there is only a loopback address. Ack! How do I create a socket so I can ssh into this little beastie?
How do I disable the firewall or (better yet) punch holes in it so I get use JDBC and ssh, scp and samba from windows 7?
I tried firing up the SQL Developer 3.1 and getting a test connection with username and password of "oracle" with no luck. How do I get a test connection to work?
How do I determine if the database is running? If not, how do I start it and stop it and restart it?
    Thanks
    Siegfried

There is no "oracle" account native to the database itself. This is just the default account that owns the application. Log on as oracle/oracle to the OS. (OEL) You can change the passwords of the sys and system account by setting your $ORACLE_HOME and $ORACLE_SID. Default SID is orcl on a database install. Also set a path to the oracle binaries in the form of $ORACLE_HOME/bin.
    Then sqlplus / as sysdba
Change passwords of sys and system using the following example.
    ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY [password];
    ALTER USER SYSTEM IDENTIFIED BY [password];
The supplied appliance runs oracle enterpirse linux. Not debain or fedora.
    Why do you need "emacs"?
I haven't personally load this appliance with Virtual Box but there has to be a readme file somewhere that details all the passwords and etc.

  • How to manage and prevent database lock for database admin and development

how to manage and prevent database lock for database admin and development
    [email protected]

    Hi,
can someone advise me some good book or even better a PDF or a white paper on the Web where it's explained well how to design and manage a relational database (that is normal forms, tuning, design, implemantation...)?
I've been working on Oracle databases for a few years as pl sql programmer, but I'd like to read something describing well the relational database theory, because I've been asked to work as database designer. There are many books available in the market, please go through this link -- http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/549646/ref=pd_ts_b_nav
I've been told to read "Fundamentals of Database Systems" by Ramez Elmasri, but I ask here for some more advices.I would strongly recommend reading this book, it was my best reference during my college study and even after starting my DBA career.
    Thanks,

  • Remote Desktop Services: corrupt system database, how to remove and start again?

Hi. This is my first Windows Server 2012 R2 installation, and I have a made a small mess. I'd be very grateful for any assistance in sorting it out.
I had some problems which I eventually tracked down to an incorrectly installed SSL certificate, but during my diagnostics, I foolishly deleted a row from a system table, thinking that if it messed up, I could always reinsert the row. Forgetting of course
that I couldn't recreate the ID of the original record because it's an auto-ID field. So I realise I'm an idiot.
I logged in to SQL server using:
    \\.\pipe\MICROSOFT##WID\tsql\query
    and deleted a row from:
    Databases/RDCms/Tables/rds.Target
    and from:
    Databases/RDCms/Tables/rds.Pool
Predictably enough, the database is no longer coherent and RDWeb is not working properly, and I need to remove RDS and reinstall it.
I thought that removing the RDS server role and adding it again would do it, but the erroneous data is still there.
How can I get rid of it and start from a clean slate?
Thank you in advance for any help.
    Stan

    Hi Stan,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
Can you let us know the specific error you are facing?
In addition, you can try to use below powershell command to remove the rds role.
    Parameter Set: Default
    Remove-RDServer [-Server] <String> [-Role] <String> [[-ConnectionBroker] <String> ] [-Force] [ <CommonParameters>]
    Remove-RDServer
In addition, you can refer this thread
for reference. Also check "Disaster recovery options for the RD Connection Broker
    2012 (HA)" article.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Error while Installing and Starting SAP Widget Development Tools

    Hi All,
    I have downloaded Eclipse: eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-win32.zip from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.3.2-200802211800/eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-win32.zip
I am following the link: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c032ae0a-7d6b-2a10-14a1-cc6efb066dfc
for Installing and Starting SAP Widget Development Tools as an Eclipse Plug-in
I am very new to it, So I was following Step by Step procedure.
On the 16th step I am getting an error:
AP Widget Templates (0.12.0.1167) requires feature "org.eclipse.gef (3.3.0)", or equivalent.
I had download the SAP Widget Development Tools.zip file from https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads?rid=/webcontent/uuid/b03b6544-c741-2a10-8999-ed04eb2b2c71
While unzipping the eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-win32.zip, there were two errors:
The System cannot find the file specified &
The file name or extension is too long.
I ignored them and continued the unzipping.
Please guide me as to how we can solve this error.
    Ankur
Is it because I am using Eclipse 3.3.2 and not 3.3.0? If yes from where I can download Eclipse 3.3.0
Edited by: ankur malhotra on Jul 25, 2008 7:36 AM

    Hi Ankur,
This happens sometimes because of the Eclipse that you use. Download the Eclipse JEE Version. When you go to eclipse.org and try to download eclipse you can do a comparision of the versions there, You download the version which supports all the web features.
    http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-ide-java-ee-developers/ganymeder
Check the above link you will be able to see the package details. Please download this Java IDE for EE developers and try installing the SAP widgets foundation then, If you are facing any problems in installing the plugins thru local archived site please let me know.

    Hi,
There are differentiation between certified and supported.
See Sue's comment on the following thread to have a better idea of this :
Re: SQL Developer with Oracle 9i
    9i is supported, not certified.
From your lists, anything which are not listed, hopefully are still supported.
Not sure for SQL Server 2008, though.
