Developer 6.0 installation can't proceed due to phantom services?

I'm installing 6.0 Server on an NT server that is also running Oracle8 8.0.5 (NOT 8i). After going through the dependencies, it stops, saying that Net8 is being used and to stop all services and applications that use Net8. I have already stopped all the services starting with "Oracle" such as Start, TNSListener, and Service, and there are no applications running according to Task Manager. Is there any other service that must be stopped? I tried stopping just about everything to no avail.

When I try to proceed it says there is
nothing to install. I tried verifying/repairing
Disk Permissions with Disk Utility and nothiung
showed up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I believe I have the answer -- at least it worked for me. With a huge assist from Apple Tech Support, I finally came up with with the following...
Go to Finder > Hard Drive > Library > Receipts. There you will find four files starting with iTunes. Remove all four to the Trash. Empty it. Restart your computer. And then the Install program on the virtual drive will work and you'll get iTunes 6.0.4.
Hope that helps.

  • Installation can not proceed

When trying to install AirPort Express on my PC I get the message: "A later version of iTunes is already installed. The installation could not proceed."
    What version should I use?

The following instructions are for configuring an Airport Express to “join” the existing wireless network created by a non-Apple brand of wireless router.
You have likely been directed to follow these instructions because you could not get the Airport Express working using the instructions provided by Apple. The instructions provided here will almost always work because (a) they require you to temporarily cable your Airport Express to your existing network so that you don’t need to mess around with changing wireless network connections on your PC or Mac during the configuration process and (b) they require you to remove all wireless security from your wireless router (since misconfigured wireless security protocols are the most common reason for configuration failures of an Airport Express).
Before starting, do two things on the Mac or PC you are going to be using to perform the configuration:
    1. make sure you have installed at least Airport 4.1:
    For Macs see http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airport41formacosx.html
    For Windows see http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airport41forwindows.html
    2. disable all network firewalls on the computer:
    - Windows users should turn off the built in Windows XP firewall
    - Windows and Mac users should disable (sometimes even uninstall) all third-party firewall or “internet protection” software they may have installed. Antivirus software is OK.
    - Windows and Mac users that have installed VPN client software should disable or temporarily remove this software. Many VPN software clients install a firewall without telling you (Cisco’s is a common culprit).
Next - if you have been playing around with the Airport Express previously (perhaps messing up its default configuration), get it into a known state by doing a factory default reset of the device per:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044
Next – access your wireless router’s configuration (usually done via a web browser on your Mac or PC) and do the following:
    1. write down the SSID of your wireless router. A wireless router’s SSID happens to be the “name” it shows up under when you try to connect to its wireless network from a PC or Mac.
    2. remove all wireless security protocols from the wireless router. Yes this is drastic – but it is only temporary. Remember you have been directed to these instructions because everything else you tried has failed, and the purpose of these instructions is to prove that you can get a bare-bones system up and running. Adding wireless security back in can always be done later – once you have proven that you can get a basic system going. Unless you really know what you are doing (in which case, your probably didn’t need these instructions in the first place) don’t attempt to “cut corners” by not following my advice to disable security. This means (a) do NOT disable SSID broadcast on your wireless router, (b) remove all MAC address filtering or MAC address based access control, and (c) turn off WEP or WPA security.

  • The installation doesn't proceed due to "administrator privileges". What is that?

    Hey all!
I just got my membership so I tried to download my first application (Photoshop CC). When I clicked the 'Download' button it downloaded not the program I expected for but a small application called "CreativeCloudSet-Up" (seems to be some kind of proprietary download manager), am I right?.
Anyway, when it finished I ran it so a progress bar started to fill in, so I supposed that it was downloading my application (PS CC). When the bar finished fill up, the following message appear:
"The following problems were found: administrator privileges are required to proceed installation."*
(*) The message show up in portuguese as I am in Brazil, so the wording may not be exactly like this.
My initial joy on become an Adobe Creative Cloud member quickly turned into a enormous frustration...
Anyway, I am the only user of the computer (a brand new laptop running OEM Windows 8), so I cannot see in what manner I don't have administrator rights.
    Any idea????
    Thanks!

Thanks KGlad, I think that it would help. It just worked misteriously in my second attempt though, and now the Cloud manager is downloading my apps.

  • I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard. Now there is a new Xcode for Lion, so I downloaded the new one but the installed continued to be the old one. Now App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me to re-download Xcode. How can I proceed?

I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard 12 days ago. After installing Lion I saw there is a new FREE Xcode for it, so I downloaded the new one but after installing automatically Xcode for Lion the Developer folder contained the old one. I deleted the old Xcode but the App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me re-download Xcode.
How can I proceed? I'm guessing whether this problem will occur each time I buy an application from App Store.

Yes, that's righ, Xcode installer was in the Apps folder. I assumed it had been automatically installed and the installer deleted after installation (the same way as Lion is installed).
I tried also the procedure for redownloding applications, and MAS showed both Xcodes (Lion and Snow Leopard) and OS X Lion. We see that buttons for Lion and Xcode for Snow Leopard say 'Install' but Xcode for Lion says 'installed' because there is an Install Scode in the Apps folder.
    Thank you.

  • Installation Failed The installer can't install some files in "/".

    The full message is
Installation Failed! The installer can't install some files in "/". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I first received this message when trying to upgrade Pro Tools from 8.0 to 8.0.1 a prerelease for snow leopard. I tried numerous things such as repairing permissions, as well as some pro tools specific things and to no avail. Still got the same error message.
So then I tried completely uninstalling and deleting all things pro tools from my computer. After a clean uninstall and removing all traces of pro tools I proceeded to try and re-install pro tools from my pro tools 8 disk. About a minute into the process I get the EXACT same error message.
I know this issue has been going on since even before snow leopard. I really need to get pro tools installed and running again or at least be able to get the program installed. I've isolated pro tools out of the mix because its been several different installers and even an installer from a dvd. I know this is a Snow Leopard or plain OS based problem. I have repaired permissions, created a brand new user, wiped clean and started over. I don't know anything else to do. PLEASE HELP???!!!

Hi Dean@mac & welcome to the forums...
Any specifics why it wants to install to / instead of Applications, as an example?
    Seen these threads yet?
    http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?search=Go&q=pro+tools
One thing to help investigate the issue is to create a new user just for testing that is stock with no add-on's etc., then login there and try to install. If it works there you can bet there is something unique to your original account that is borking that install - otherwise the issue is most likely global to your system and you might be out of luck until/unless a reportedly qualified version becomes available, etc.
    Good luck in any case.

  • Can't update due to message saying a prior update is still running and to reboot, but I have rebooted 4 or 5 times

Can't update due to message saying a prior update is still running and to reboot, but I have rebooted at least 4 or 5 times What do I need to remove to get the install to work?
I am stuck at FireFox 3.6.18 as no update actually installs, even when I am logged in as the admin.
    i am running XP SP3
I have the update files for version 4, 6, 8, and 10. IF I can figure out the error - probably in the registry - which update should I start with

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and delete the Firefox program folder to remove any leftover files.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 10.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    *Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    Hi, Jeff:
My system is XP; before the premiere worked well.
More detail story: Premiere could not open 3 days ago, no fix, some one sent me a crack software, I used it, no luck. Another nice guy told that is for non-legal Premiere, surely it won't work.
I tried to remove Premirere; difficult; some one suggested me to use Adobe CS4 cleaner from Adobe. Then it was removed. I re-install Premiere; During the process, abnomal thing I remember was: I can't input product S/N, so I had to use 30-day trial.
During the installation, it was stopped by Windows Installer issue, I restarted Windows Installer, then the process continued...
I have two log files, don't know how to attach into this message. But, can't find any problem therein.
Heverever, when I tried to open newly installed Premiere, error message says: ---can't open, reason is exactly same with very beginning: Can't communicate with Inporter Process Server....
    Appreciate!

  • The version of iOS on does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK

Getting this error message as of this morning: The version of iOS on “iPad” does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK. Please restore the device to a version of the OS listed below, or update to the latest version of the iOS SDK. I've downloaded the latest SDK and gone through the usual turn off and turn on again for iPad and computer, removed and reinstalled the iPad from Organizer and have no idea how to make apps build now. I was prompted to update the iphone too but there's no way I'm updating it if this issue can't be resolved.

Okay these are the steps I took to solve the problem - they may not be the right ones for you but they've solved the problem and saved time hunting for some other solution. Firstly I changed my MAC system to Lion with the £20 download, then I deleted the old Xcode and installed the new version that is app based and doesn't support Snow Leopard, then all was well. I can now update my xcode via the app which is quicker and more logical and can update my iPhone rather than chug along avoiding updates as I need to update my existing apps on the app store and upload a new one.

    Hi West,
It's probably a corrupted install of the distributed systems manager. You can uninstall it and reinstall it by downloading it here (http://www.ni.com/download/ni-distributed-system-manager-2013/4216/en/).

10.5 has not be released to the general public since it is a BETA, so this is not the place to ask for help with this.
