Developer 6 and MS Access 2000

Is it possible to use Developer 6 with MS Access 2000 database
and how ?
Thanks

Create an ODBC datasource for Access database.
Then in the Forms 6.0 connect using the following host string
'odbc:name_of_your_odbc_source'

  • Query developement and se16 access on productive system

    Hi,
we are setting up an authorization concept on ERP2004s and our users asking for query development rights and se16 on our productive system. I think queries and se16 should be on the test system due to security reasons. Please post some feedback how do you think about it!? I think queries should be developed on the test system and transported.
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
I dont think that you can give access to writing a quaery in production system.
writing a query also need access to:
    Transaction Code:  SE16
    Authorization object:  S_TABU_DIS
    Activity:  02 AND 03
Risk: The risk here is that users who have this access, have the ability to maintain table data directly in the production system.  This includes transactional, masterfile, security and configuration data.
    Hope it is useful.
Please award points if it is useful.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Development and access to external WSDL URL

    Hi All,
I am developing a SOA application with BPEL composite which also makes calls to an external third party webservice. Due to security reasons, the external third party webservice URL is only accessible from our Development server machine (and not my local machine running JDeveloper). Issue with this is the SOA application development is done using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 on my local machine.
    Overview of my application is
WebService (Synchronous Request/Response Client interface ) ---> BPEL ---> Third Party webService (Partnerlink)
    1) Using the Client interface the user enters startTime and EndTime values
    2) The startTime and endTime is input message to the BPEL process.
    3) The BPEL process then sends the request to the third party web service (partnerlink) and gets a response message back and returns to the client.
I tried workaround for the same by asking the third party for WSDL and associated XSDs and included these locally in my SOA application project. However trying to deploy the completed SOA application and keep getting this error.
    ERROR MESSAGE_
[03:40:25 PM] Error message from server:
There was an error deploying the composite on WLS_SOA: Error occurred during deployment of component: DataRetrievalService to service engine: implementation.bpel, for composite: DataRetrievalService: ORABPEL-09705
    Could not initialize variable.
An error occurs while initializing BPEL variable RetrieveEventSummary_GetEventSummary_InputVariable; the schema processor cannot find the element {http://schemas.internet.com/asiapac/cad/integration/1.0.0}GetEventSummaryRequest in the following schemas: oracle.fabric.common.wsdl.SchemaManager@1cf57b6b.
The XSD element on which the variable was based was not properly defined in XSD or the WSDL.
Ensure that the element named in the error message is valid in the XSD or the WSDL.
    Questions_
    1) Please suggest, is it possible to develop a SOA application which makes service call to external URL, while the local development machine cannot access the external WSDL URL.
    2) Also, in such cases in future deployments to test and production do I still need access to external WSDL URL from my machine. I deploy the completed SOA application from my local machine to the Development Server. The Development Server machine is configured to accessed the third-party WSDL URL.
    Thanks
    Edited by: user5108636 on 11/07/2011 23:53

It seems WSDL is not complete or invalid. Check whether it references element {http://schemas.internet.com/asiapac/cad/integration/1.0.0}GetEventSummaryRequest and this element has been defined in the XSD imported/defined in WSDL.
    1) Please suggest, is it possible to develop a SOA application which makes service call to external URL, while the local development machine cannot access the external WSDL URL.Yes, it is possible but complete and valid WSDL must be available locally.
    2) Also, in such cases in future deployments to test and production do I still need access to external WSDL URL from my machine. I deploy the completed SOA application from my local machine to the Development Server. The Development Server machine is configured to accessed the third-party WSDL URL.If server can access the third party WS URL then that is sufficient. No need to have access from local machine. Just deploy it on server and then test there.

  • ORACLE ODBC 8.1.7.6 and Access 2000 (RAMDAC 2.7)

I wanted to use a Pass-through query in microsoft access 2000 and got some inexplicable results.
    I Use
    - Oracle ODBC 8.1.7.6
    - Microsoft Access 2000
    - RAMDAC 2.7
    Server Oracle-Version = 7.3.4
    Server NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8HP
    Server Language = ENGLISH
    Local Client oracle-Version= 8.1.7
    Local NLS_LANG = GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8HP
    Local Language = GERMANY
I use a field called 'STOK' and the value is 10.5
ORACLE-Driver | MICROSOFT ODBC for ORACLE
If I only want to display the value, I get 105 <- not OK | 10.5
    If I use NVL(STOK,0), I get 10.5 | 10 <- not OK
    If I use SUM(STOK), I get 10.5 | 10 <- not OK
    If I use STOK*STOK, I get 110.25 | 110 <- not OK
    If I use STOK*5, I get 52.5 | 52 <- not OK
Direct link (not pass through 105 <- not OK | 10.5
Is there a possibility, that I can use direct link and pass through with the same driver. I couldn't manage it

Most of our applications use Oracle server versions 7.3, 8.0 and 8.1.
The clients are written in Microsoft Access, Versions 97 and 2000.
Our experience using ODBC is that it only runs correct when on the client the parameter NLS_LANG is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8... (we use WE8ISO8859P1)!
Be sure to set the right NLS_LANG parameter, there are more than one. If in doubt set them all to the same value.
    Kind regards,

How can I open and edit files that were developed and published via ftp to my host on my old macbook, which I can no longer access. The HD containing the files cannot be accessed. I want to be able to download the published files to be edited in iweb?

You CAN'T download published files and then edit them in iWeb because iWeb can't open them - it has no import facility so is unable to open any html or css files - a previously published site.
You can download these files yes, but you'll need to use them as a guide or to cut and paste text from there whilst you re-build your site in iWeb.
The only other way is to download the files and then open them with an html editor such as TextWrangler or use one of the other web design programmes out there that is capable of importing html and css such as Dreamweaver of Flux 4.
These are your only alternatives as iWeb can't import and if you want to continue to use iWeb, then you'll have to re-build your site from scratch.  If you do just remember to back up your domain.sites file this time around - it is found under your User/Library/Applicaion Support/iWeb/domain.sites.

  • MS Access 2000 and Oracle 8

    Hello,
I need to provide access to a Oracle (v 8) table via MS Access 2000. I am doing so via Link Tables in MS Access.
But I am not able to see the new tables that I created, in the list of tables available for linking from the Oracle schema, in Access.
    How can I rectify this?
    Thank you.

I think you'd need to contact Oracle support to get access to older versions of the driver.
Since 8.0.5 isn't supported any longer, however, is it possible for you to update your Oracle client to one of the supported releases-- 8.1.7 or 9i?

  • Packages and Use Access in Proxy development

    Hi everybody.
I am desperately trying to generate an ABAP Proxy on my XI System. According to my documentation I should start by creating a new package and declaring a Use Access to the package interface SAI_PROXY_PIF.
However, everytime I try to do this, I get the error message  "Package interface SAI_PROXY_PUBLIC_PIF points to a package that is too deeply nested".
Ok. So I create another package, include my first package in this package and try to declare a Use Access to package interface SAI_TOOLS_PIF, in order to mimic the package hierarchy in the SAI proxy runtime. But I get the same error message there...
Unfortunately I am not familiar with the new 6.40 package concept and Use Access relationships. Could somebody please explain to me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    Joerg

    hi,
you need SAI_TOOLS in the user access tab

  • Urgent Help needed : Connecting Access 2000 with forms 6i

    Dear friends,
I am really struggling to solve this connection issue. I am working with forms 6i, oracle 8i, in Windows XP pro environment. Developing programs using oracle 8i tables is ok, but there are tables in Access 2000, which I have to add the program that I am developing. The things I have done are
    - I have already tables in MS Access databse.
    - I Installed ODBC for microsoft and for Oracle as well(which . I added the MS Access Database there and I can perfom SQL from Oracle ODBC.
    - I also installed OCA for developer from the CD.
From this point I followed the instructions in Developer Help menu and I was not able to connect and still trying, I will appreciate if anyone provide me sometips. Thanks in advance
    Best Regards

    Hi,
I know the bad solution. But anyway, I'll tell you in any kind of help. I also had an AccessControlException when I started a RMI client program using JFileChooser. I rewrote policy files again and agin, but in vain. The last and ultimate method I did was remove the RMISecurityManager. This is obviously dangerous in the Internet, but if you use your application in the intranet or in some kind of safe environment. There would be no problem.
Hope this could be any kind of your help.

  • Pass SQL from Access 2000 to Acrobat

I have the need to pass dynamic SQL statements (including the use of variables) from Access 2000 to an Adobe form.  The Adobe form will then display the data that is gathered by the SQL.  While I am fairly good at Access and SQL, I am just beginning with Acrobat.  The forms are developed and coded in LiveCycle Designer.  The SQL code has the ability to directly access either the linked tables in the Access DB or the data tables on the SQL server.  Thank you for your help and time.

I did not find the 1.30 plugin. I finally got it to work by fooling oracle into thinking that I had a 9i database installed by manually creating the \oracle\ora91 directory.
    Thanks for your help though!

  • Altering database during migration from MS Access 2000

Hi to all Oracle forum members.
I want to migrate a MS Access 2000 database to Oracle 9i release 2. I want to know how can I alter the database design during the migration progress. My plan is to split an existing table to more and re-arrange the data and maybe introduce some new tables as well. These changes cane be made using the Migration Workbench or after migrating to Oracle? What is the most efficient way to do that and how can I accomplish these changes?
    Thanks in advance...

  • Opening and closing Access database in a loop causes an Error.

I am loading test conditions from an Access DB in a multiple nested loop. The loops successively drill into the DB. ei Temperature, Humidity, Power. Consequently the DB is opened and closed numerous (2000) times. The Errors returned are(-2147467259) Unspecified Error or (2147024882) System Resources low. I have disabled result recording in the edit sequence properties dialog. I do see a constant memory consumption, but of 128MB, it never gets below 40MB. I have enclosed the example sequence file I am using.

I've seen problems with OLEDB (which I assume TestStand used behind the
scenes) with Access and SQL where rapid opening/closing of the sam
    e source
(database) can generate errors. I don't know for sure, but I assume that
the changes from the last close are not fully propogated before the next
    open is processed.
Getting back to TestStand, if all the tables you're querying are in the same
database, then you should just open the database once at the beginning and
close it at the end. Then do seperate table open/closes between the
    database open/close.

  • Questions about the future directions of InfoPath and Microsoft Access

Because I have been confused about the future directions of InfoPath and Access, I wrote a short blog post, which I have pasted below.  My question is, can Microsoft provide some more guidance on Access vs InfoPath?  If Access is indeed the
the future direction, can you please provide some pointers to resources that can help us transition.
A Short Review of MS Access,  SharePoint ,InfoPath (2013)
After the November 2012 SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas (#spc12) there were a number of blog posts and people saying that Access 2013 was great and would be replacing InfoPath.
    Marc Anderson and
    Ruven
Gotz have short posts summarizing #SPC12 and touch on the subject of InfoPath and Access.  I also spoke with several individuals shortly after #SPC12 and they were excited about Access 2013.
Since I rely heavily on InfoPath for much of what I do, I wanted to kick the tires and see what everyone was talking about.  First, a few notes about SharePoint 2013 and Office 2013.
Microsoft should rename Access:  If you have tried to
bing the word Access, then you know that the search results are overwhelming,  because the word "access" is used for so many other purposes.
Use the RTM version of Office 2013! I was performing  my investigations by leveraging the Office 365 Beta and the Office Applications that come with it.  Not much was working!  After I uninstalled the Beta
version of Office 2013 and Installed the RTM version everything seemed to work.
Windows 7 and IE 9.0: The drag & drop that is being touted as
"manna from heaven" seems to work well with Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and IE 10, but it does
    not work with IE 9!
Non Microsoft browsers are still second class citizens (except for the drag & drop):  Microsoft has finally done away with the Active X's for datasheet view (that is brilliant!)  One can now see the newly
minted datasheet view in many browsers.  But I still find that one needs to be in IE to do a number of key manual opeartions.  For example pasting numerous rows of data from a spreadsheet into the new sheet view works only in IE.
    Access 2013
Microsoft Access is touted as a non developer tool.  I know a number of people who are on the business side and love Access.  These people will like the renewed energy that Microsoft has applied to Access.   One should note that conceptually
this functionality existed  in SharePoint 2010.  Here is what I see that is new:
+The new version works better:Although I haven't tested it fully, it seems that many more features that work on the Desktop version of Access, now work in the published Web Application which is hosted by SharePoint 2013.
+The new version has fairly robust browser based forms: End users can now fill in data using forms that are rendered in the browser.
+The published version that resides in SharePoint now uses its own SQL server tables.  So the engine appears to be SQL Server, not a modified version of Access built for a server.  This stands to be quite robust, but I imagine
that some quirks will surface due to new model.
    The limitations are:
    - Access is pretty much its own application and does not integrate with SharePoint building blocks.  For example, an Access table is not easy to integrate with a SharePoint workflow.  Further, although  Access forms now are visible
in a browser, they are not nearly as rich as InfoPath forms.  InfoPath forms cannot easily integrate with the Access tables.  In order to integrate SharePoint features and Access, one needs to tie SharePoint list(s) to Access as data sources.
This overcomplicates the model and one may very well run into synchronization issues.
In short, although I believe there will be some people who will be happy with newly minted Access, I do not think that Access will be able to replace InfoPath and Workflow technologies.  I do agree that Microsoft does not seem to have put much energy into
InfoPath.  If they leave a vacuum in this space, then others may very well take over, for instance Nintex Forms.

Although I agree with the comments made by Ruven and Marc after the conference please note that those blog posts are their own personal opinions and that they don't work for Microsoft.  A lot of people have asked Microsoft to clarify the future of InfoPath
and the response up until now has been a deafening silence.  In my opinion speculations about Access replacing InfoPath are premature.
I should also point out that most of your comments about Access 2013 above are actually about Access Services in SharePoint Server 2013.  Access Services are NOT Access they are a shared service offering in SharePoint that convert and publish Access
databases and forms.  As you point out once an Access database is published through Access services it is converted to SQL Server and no longer resides in Access.  Of course I don't work for Microsoft either so these are all just my personal opinion.
Having said that I doubt you will get the confirmation/response that you are hoping for from any official Microsoft channel.

  • SQL query works in access 2000 but not through JDBC

Hello to all as my first posted message, I have a bit of a pickle on my hands. I have a query which is critical to for my application to function.
    In Access 2000
    SELECT sb.SeatName
FROM SeatBooking sb, Movie m, MovieSession ms, Booking b
    WHERE m.MovieId = ms.MovieId
    AND ms.MovieSessionId = b.MovieSessionId
    AND b.BookingId = sb.BookingId
    AND ms.DateOfSession = #2003/04/16 07:15:00 PM#;
This query works fine. When I insert it into my code
    String query = "SELECT sb.SeatName \n" +
"FROM SeatBooking sb, Movie m, MovieSession ms, Booking b \n" +
    "WHERE m.MovieId = ms.MovieId \n" +
    "AND ms.MovieSessionId = b.MovieSessionId \n" +
    "AND b.BookingId = sb.BookingId \n" +
    "AND ms.DateOfSession = #" +
    cp.getMovieSessionAt(i).getTrueTimeOfSession() + "#;";
The last line of code returns #2003/04/16 07:15:00 PM#; Which is the exact same as in Access.
    To rule out some possibilities
    - there are other less complicated queries which access the same database but work fine. so my code seems to be ok
    - I have tried to use Format() on ms.DateOfSession to match the return value of the java statement (Which is a general date in Access in the format of 16/04/2003 7:15:00 PM)
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!
