Developer App - "failed to install' Why?

Hi;
I've just rebuilt a clients app, to get it up to v24 viewerversion. I've signed and downloaded the developer .ipa file and when installing it on iPad to test it, if fails.
The message is as follows: 'appname' failed to install.
i'm all out of ideas, can anyone help please?

Check your folio resolution. It should be 1024x786, 2048x1536.
Recreate certificates from scratch with new app ID (Do not use "*" in App ID e.g com.company.*). Make sure that you have unchecked iCloud in App ID section.
Provision your devices (Add device UDID and device name in Devices section).
Recreate App with new certificates.
Delete the old syncd app in iPad.
Sync new .ipa
Install
Also test your app in content viewer. There may be a chances that the app is not valid if you are unable to test it on content viewer also.

  • Developer App failed to install on iPad HD

I have a developer app that installs fine on all iPad 1&2 but not any of my iPad HD.  iTunes gives me an error with "app name" failed to install.  I have updated my view builder to the latest and re built the app.  I'm really confused on what the issue can be.  Can anyone shed some light on this issue as I need to get started on submitting this app to the store.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Did you add the HD ipad's UDID to the mobileprovision file and rebuild the viewer?

  • IOS app fails to install on iPod touch using flash professional cs5.5

I am having trouble testing apps on my 3rd generation iPod touch. The very first app I tried to put on there worked, the app was called mynewapp. Then I tried to put another app on there using the same provisional profile and same app id, the app failed to install. It didn’t matter if mynewapp was on my iPod touch or not. No matter what app I tried to put on my iPod touch they all failed to install, the only one I could get on there was mynewapp. I even created an app with the exact same code as mynewapp and this new app failed to install.
Then I created a new provisional profile using the same app id that my first profile was using. I tried putting an app using the new provisional profile this app failed to install for the second time. The first time it was using the old profile.
Then I created a new provisional profile with a new app id and I took an app and tied it to this new profile and app id this app seemed to install on the iPod touch. Right now only two apps can be installed on my iPod touch each app is using a different profile and app id. If I were to copy one of these apps and use the copy that was just created to replace the old version on my iPod touch the app would failed to install.
I have spent over a week trying just about everything to fix this problem. I remember reading that multiple apps can have the same app id.
I’m using a windows 7 64 bit computer with flash professional 5.5. Furthermore iTunes, Flash pro, AIR and my iPod touch are all up-to-date.
    What could be the problem?
I’m sorry if this seems so long it is just I have tried many different things.

As Colin says make sure your device is still supported by the newer AIR.
Here's a page which you can check
    http://www.adobe.com/products/air/tech-specs.html
Adobe stopped supporting older devices (after AIR 2.5 i think), so you can either re compile it with the older AIR or else move onto a newer device. Had the same issue with an iPhone 3g which no longer works.

  • During sync I received a message that says an app failed to install

When syncing my ipod touch 4th generation an error message appeared on my ipod that said a particular app failed to install.  Any suggestions?

    - Delete the app from iTunes and redownload and sync. Maybe it got corrupted.
    - Try downloading the app directly on the iPod.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Why apps failed to install on my iPhone 4s after sync from itunes?

I just bought an iPhone 4S. I tried to sync all my favorite apps from iTunes to my new iPhone 4S i just bought. But I don't know what happen that some of apps successfully sync to iPhone 4S and some of the app said "failed to install" on my iPhone screen. This never happen before when I was using my iPhone 3GS...If anyone have any idea why this happen, please let me know.. Thank a lot...

Same issue on 4s AND IPSW 5.0
Any file I download from the appstore on my computer, and try to sync with my phone, will say "Appname" failed to install.
This wasn't happening before I saw the the update option for 5.0.1
Apple please don't change my phone's usablility when you want to update.
I think this is apples way of forcing people to update.
Say what you want about windows, but at least we have the freedom there to do what we want with purchased devices.

  • Creative Cloud management app failed to install, again, remedy, clue

It failed yet again today for me, but in a particular way, and thereby gave a clue at least of one probably unknown failure mode which I can pass on.
    - I was trying to install the very latest Creative Cloud manager, which self-announced itself today 12 February 2014 when I tried to use it to check for updated applications.
    - it downloaded and started to run, then failed with the very clever 'failed to install' small alert. A small alert for very small knowledge of the actual cause? Surely you can do better.
    - I went on the forums and found all the times and ways this has caught up others before. I saw the 'rename OOBE folder' trick, and remembered that thus was the only thing that would actually fix the Creative Cloud manager one or more times before on my computers.
    - thus I tried to rename OOBE after killing every Adobe-named app in the Windows 8.1 Task Manager, and failed -- due to some nameless program holding it open.
    - I then stopped and restarted the machine.
    - I thought a moment and realized I'd run another Adobe installer an hour or two before, to updated Premiere Elements 11 to the latest possible Adobe Camera Raw as its updater offered.
    - thus instead of renaming OOBE, I ran the Adobe Creative Cloud manager updater when it offered again towards the end of booting up
    - this time it succeeded, hence I believe that other Adobe ACR installer had been at fault, leaving files unclosed or otherwise locked within OOBE. That's the new clue to Adobe developers.
    - If this hadn't succeeded, I'd have stopped and restarted the machine again, and then renamed C:\Program Files(x86)/Common/Adobe/OOBE.
I think this renaming is a lot better way to proceed (stop/start, adding possibly safe boot with no startup apps if OOBE remains locked to renaming when that method may be needed) than using the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanup tool as the troubleshooting page recomnmends.
The reason: this benighted cleanup tool does _not_ offer any way to remove Creatuive Cloud manager itself, even though support here suggests that it does. You can only choose variations which insist on uninstalling all your Adobe programs, CS6 included with Creative Cloud ones. I am not going to do that except at extreme duress. So far renaming OOBE and thus forcing Creative Cloud to recreate it has fixed every one of the blind, unspecific, and prevalent errors with Creative Cloud.
I think that much better work can be done on this Creative Cloud software, but I am constrained by a particular American folk tale told to children, which suggests 'If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything.'
I can only say that respect will be gained not by talk, or telling a lot of complicated procedures to recover software that costs like an automobile.
Respect will only be gained by really involving yourself, learning, and then doing all of this correctly. That's what every respected software developer in the world does.

Jeff, thanks equally for coming back on this.
    - I did begin the process on the page you linked.
    - when I got to the step running the CC Cleaner tool, it offered me no option to remove the Creative Cloud Manager -- only to remove all my apps, which are largely CS6. This is counter to the suggestion that you can remove just the manager, and not welcome as you will understand.
    - it was at this point that I recovered the procedure of just shifting OOBE out of play. When this wasn't possible due to invisibly held open folders or files, I realized the problem might have been due to the earlier Premiere 11 ACR update (you have to think a bit for reasons why it might want to do that...).
    - Thus when I stopped and restarted to assure a clean reboot, I thought to just let the Creative Cloud Manager try again when it offered this.
    - Without further intercession, this time the Creative Cloud Manager succeeded.
I would say that the move-OOBE-out-of-play to force recreate (or sometimes it has been move a certain file in OOBE) is a much preferred repair that has always worked for me in the numerous failures of Creative Cloud Manager over the last year. We don't really want to spend the hours and take the risk of removing all our Adobe CS and/or CC applications, plus adding all of their updates again, as you will also understand.
This points to a way Adobe could very much lower the agony of the Creative Cloud Manager, its updates and its crossed wires. I do appreciate the problem, though not why at your budget levels it hasn't had a definitive response. Some experience directing projects and having to take over offshore team management directly might suggest where you are finding the difficulty, at least.
In the mean time, why not put in place a recovery for failed Creative Cloud Manager activities including updates, which would simply and automatically do the task of accurately renaming the OOBE folder (for each attempt, no matter how many times  it had been done before)j, then triggering a restart followed by reinstall and information recovery of the Creative Cloud Manager? It could be something like Microsoft's Fix-Its, for convenience, which would also leave open a doorway to reversal if somehow necessary.
I suggest you might lower the incidence of this genre of problems by a very large factor if you were to do so, replacing the presently procedure with its flaws for those employing Adobe software.
Anyway, I hope the suggestion leads in positive ways for your products, and wish your team a good day.

  • Developer application Failed to install

    Hi
We created a developer application which eventualy failed to install. At the end of the sync with iTunes it generates an error:
    Failed to install [app name]
We double check the provisioning file and checked inside the:
    settings-general-profiles
the profile name exists and signed as verified.
    Any clues?
    Thanks
    Eli

In our case, definitely yes. We're still getting the same problem. we re-created every certificate. Even had 2  sets of eyes on it through every step to make sure we were doing it correctly. Still the 'failed to install' message. on 3 separate iPads. We're stumped.

  • Apps fail to install during iPad restore from backup

I made a clean backup of my iPad2/iOS6, rebooted everything, then tried to restore from backup and there's a bunch of apps that failed to install. I've repeated this process 3x; every time it seems to be a different # of failed to install apps (3-80!!). I now have almost a full page of icons/folders with blank install bars under them.
Did anyone find a solution to this?!

Haven't tried setting up as new. I did the restore and then when itunes asked me, I selected the restore from a backup that was created yesterday. I'll try setup as new first and then restore from backup after? It's going to be a real pain if I have to start everything from scratch :(

  • Itunes Sync *app* Failed to install

So I have been trying to troubleshoot this issue for about a week. I have tried everything I can think of, but I cant seem to find a way to get the app I made to load onto my iPad. Is there some sort of foolproof procedure I can follow? I have been using this site http://www.lynda.com/Flash-Professional-CS5-5-tutorials/Building-Mobile-Apps-for-Multiple- Devices-with-Flash-Professional/89049-2.html but I still am not able to get it to install. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sorry about the wait guys, I am currently deleting every old certificate, device, and everything else. I decided to start from scratch so that you guys will be able to tell me what I may be doing wrong.
Step by step, here is what I have done so far.
I went into my provisioning portal and got rid of everything, So I am starting fresh.
    1. Generated a certificate signing request using the keychain access
-oscp and clr set to off
-requested a certificate from a certificate authority
         -saved to desktop
    2. Took the CSR file and went into the certificates tab of provisioning portal
-clicked request certificate in the development tab
-on the Create iOS development certificate screen, I found my CSR and selected it
-I then clicked submit and refreshed the Certificate page so that it is approved
-Downloaded the developer certificate and saved it to my desktop
    3. Opened up the keychain access and went to File | Import
-Took the new .CER file which is the developer certificate and imported it
-Right clicked the newly added PRIVATE key in the keychain access and clicked Export
-Saved the Exported file to the desktop, the file is a P12
-Gave the P12 a password while saving, verified with admin priveledges.
    4. Went back to the provisionong portal and went to the Devices tab
-Clicked Add device in the Devices tab
-Connected testing device in iTunes and copied the UDID
-Gave the device a name and pasted the UDID into the device UDID box
-Clicked submit at the bottom of the page to register the device
    5. Went to the App ID Tab of the provisioning portal
-Clicked the Manage tab and clicked New App ID
-On the Create App ID page, entered "General Development" into the Description field
-Entered "*" into the Bundle Identifier to create a wildcard App ID
    6. Went to the Development tab in the Provisioning Profile
-Clicked on New Profile under Development Provisioning Profiles
-On the Create iOS Development Provisioning Profile page, entered my name i the Profile Name field
-Checked the appropriate checkbox for my Development Certificate
-Selected the "General Development" App ID from the dropdown
-Checked the box next to the Device Name I recently added
-Clicked the Submit button, Refreshed the page so it was active
-Downloaded the Development Provisioning Profile onto my Desktop
And THAT is where I am now. Before I go any further, can I get some feedback on those steps? Did I miss any? Was there a preference I should have selected that I didnt?
Thank you very much for taking the time to read all that, Its quite a bit!

  • TS1702 'App' failed to install

    Hello,
I have paid for and downloaded the FIFA 12 app for my iPhone 4s however when I attempt to syn it to my phone it says - iTunes Sync 'FIFA 12' failed to install.
It gives me no other information or any reasons. Does anybody know what I need to do?
    Thanks

I got a similar problem. I downloaded Mass Effect: Infiltrator and synced it to my iPhone via iTunes but then I got a  pop up saying that installation failed. I tried different ways to install it again but still having the same problem. I am now downloading it again through Wi-Fi but it is stuck on loading.
I also did a hard reset and tried restoring from backup and then install it again but still having the same problem. Is it happening to EA games only??? I never had such problem with any other apps/games.
    Can anyone help plz.

  • Why do CC apps fail to install with a Media DB 6 error?

Can't install any CC apps onto Maverics OS. Installation fails at 42% with an error 15, media DB 6 error message.

Thank you for your reply. I have 842GB available on disc. I cleared the earliest CS2 and CS3 from my apps along with any previous CC installer with Adobe Cleaner just in case these were causing issues. I also repaired permissions. It repaired everything except an SUID file in System/Library ... I restarted and reinstalled the CC installer and again installation failed with the same error message as before:
    Exit Code: 15
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR:
    - 0 fatal error(s), 1 error(s)
    ERROR: Media DB Error: 6
As a test, I installed Mavericks on a clean external hard drive and then attempted to install CC apps on there. This worked fine. So it is something on my Mac HD that's causing the issue. I already repaired permissions. If this is something to do with a Media DB file, what kind of error is it and what can I do? I wonder if it's best to just back everything up, wipe the disc and do a clean install?
