Developer class files are downloaded every time

The jinit jar files are being cached. However the developer class files are being downloaded everytime. I’ve written other web aps where classes were downloaded only once - there is a way for classes to only download once and then automatically download when changed / added – similar to jinitiator – that is critical – just can’t expect a user to repetitively wait a few minutes to use an ap.
Installed versions are:
Java 2 Runtime SE v1.4.1_07
Java 2 SDK, SE v1.4.1_05
Microsoft IE 6 SP1
Oracle JInitiator 1.3.1.17
Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
Forms server 6i patch 16
Web server 9iAS rel 1

George,
Forms files (jar) are cached and only checked for its timestamp. There are a few classes that are accessed directly and I don't know why - I think one of the EWT classes if i remember well. So 99.99 % of all files are cached.

  • Same Files are  Updating Every Time I Sync

    Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Every time I plug my iPhone in to sync the same 169 music files update through iTunes. I was wondering if there was anyway to stop this being that it's taking so long to sync because of this.

    I beleive it should be possible to check the "manually sync" option for your iPhone when it is plugged into your Mac. Once that's done, you can decide which files (songs, contacts, apps, etc.) you want to synce whenever you connect.
    I have this option checked for my iPod, which saves it trying to sync EVERY thing in my iTunes library - too much to fit onto it. Great when you know that you haven't updated certain things and want to skip that part!
    Cheers,
    Kevin

    "Motion 5" is your friend.
    Michael Wohl has a nice 15 video series (free) about Motion 5 at http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/motion5101-overview-and-workflow-guide (right side)
    This is a "teaser" series to sell his tutorials but it is really good. Just saw it yesterday for the first time.
    While all you want is just to place pins, realize that Motion has so much more. All kinds of effects and they can be really customized. Maybe put their street address, contact name, and phone number by the pin?
    Motion 5: cheap at $49.99 (just got my download two days ago)
    Motion 5: Support Community athttps://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/motion_5
    If you're using the map for, say, deliveries, and use an iPad, what you could do is have a general map of the area imported into Motion, create the pins and whatever, then save (share?) it to the iPad.
    Disclaimer: I have virtually no relationship with anything connected with this tutorial product, developer, or anything.

  • LPX file size grows every time I save (with almost no changes) - WHY?

    Hi all,
    I am just now starting to move from Logic 9 to Logic Pro X. I first imported a very simple file from logic nine as a folder project and did not import anything except the file.
    - Then, I immediately saved it.  took more than 30 secs on core i7 - why so long?
    - next I "saved a copy as" file 1a - file size 700k - nice and small.
    - that I loaded the first logic X file back in and muted a few things and saved again
    - I made some other very minor changes like muting and re-saved three or four times.
    Here is what is strange –
    Original file = 1 MB
    main LX file was 2 megs and each subsequent save gained about 1 MB each time I hit save! So, the final grew to 6 MB after just a few saves!
    I checked to see if there was some large edit history file I could purge – but it was empty because all I had done was change some mutes…
    Q: what is going on with this large file size growing every time I hit save without any major changes – I would like to know what's going on.

    It has to do with undo history, backups, and autosaves.  You can see these if you right click on the file and show package contents.  Explore in there and you should see these growing in the alternatives folder.  I would imagine there is kind of a limit to how many of these there are, but haven't looked to closely at it.

  • CLASS Files are not recompiled

    We use CLASS Files that are used from a JSP.
    After changing anything in the CLASS-Files and copying them to the custom_classes dir, nothing changes. It seems that the class Files are loaded from a cache.
    The only possibility we found is, to stop the JWS and start it again.
    Is there another possibility. (Not so time-wasting).
    It would be nice if any postings could be send to [email protected]

    This is result of the way in which Java works. Once a class has been loaded by the JVM the class remains in memory until such time as the JVM stops. There is nothing we can do to change this behavoir.

    Hi;
    Please check who enable trace. Please see:
    How to audit users who enabled traces?
    check concurrent programs first
    *from the screen
    *F11, then select the trace, then Ctrl+F11
    Concurrent > program > define
    open the form, press F11 (query mode), select the trace, then (ctrl + f11) this should return all concurrent programs which have trace enabled

  • Plugin downloaded every time even if already installed

    Hello!
    I experience a strange behaviour with the java plugin. I have the following html file:
    <HTML>
    <BODY>
    <OBJECT CODEBASE="http://192.168.111.5/jre-install/j2re-1_4_1_02-windows-i586-i.exe#Version=1,4,1,2" CLASSID="clsid:5852F5ED-8BF4-11D4-A245-0080C6F74284>" HEIGHT=0 WIDTH=0>
    <PARAM NAME="app" VALUE="http://192.168.111.5/jws.jnlp">
    <PARAM NAME="back" VALUE="false">
    </OBJECT>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    So I want the Java runtime downloaded and installed before I start my application via JavaWebStart. Everything works: The first time the client downloads the java runtime and the application also starts with no problem. So far so good.
    The problem is: when the client accesses this html file the second time, it downloads the java runtime again. Only when the installation begins it realizes that the runtime has been installed before and asks if the user wants to deinstall the current version (which is absolutely the same of course as the downloaded one). When the user says 'cancel' the installation process is canceled and the application again starts normally. This happens every time the user accesses the html file again.
    How can I avoid that the runtime is first downloaded every time the client accesses the html page?
    Thank you very much!
    Matthias

    This happens to me only if I try to tweak the version of the Java Plugin to be downloaded from the <OBJECT> tag. For example, I had an HTML page that used <APPLET> instead of <OBJECT>, so I used HTMLConverted with my Java 1.3.1_02 SDK, and it created the CLSID for 1.3.1_02. Then, I went and changed the <OBJECT> tag to have 1.3.1_04 downloaded instead, and that cause the applet to ask the JVM to get installed every single time. Once I changed the <OBJECT> tag back to 1.3.1_02, the applet downloaded the JVM once and that was it. It ran fine the following times.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to block Firefox from closing while files are downloading? I don't want to accidentally quit the program and cut off current downloads.

    Basically, I was downloading a game from Game Agent and I accidentally quit Firefox. This stopped the download and I was not allowed to resume it, forcing me to spend $30 to buy the same game AGAIN to get a new download file. Is there a way to add a warning box to Firefox that says something like: "Are you sure you want to quit Firefox? Files are downloading" when I try to quit?

    Untested, but according to http://www.phil.im/2011/04/27/how-to-enable-firefox-download-warning-on-quit/ set browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 in about:config

  • I cant open a New document because it says my scratch disks are full every time?

    I cant open a New document because it says my scratch disks are full every time.. I checked my selected scratch disk and it said I have about 9G of free space.. Problem is when I open the initial window to set the width, height and res it says my image size is 20.3G.. Is this the reason why I cant open a new Document?

    Good day!

    What are the dimensions, resolution, Color Mode and bit depth?

  • JWS application jar-files are downloaded almost every time

    hey,
    how can i debug the situation, where my application is downloaded very often (even if i havent updated all of the jar-files, they are all downloaded again)?
    can it be that they expire after a certain time? how can i check that?
    thanks,

    There are jnlp parameters that can be specified that define when jars are downloaded. This information is in the JWS documentation.

  • Can I get a notice when the files are downloaded by the recipient? And other issues...

    The older SendNow app notifies me by email whenever I have successfully sent a file, and another email when the recipient has downloaded the file.
    With Adobe Send, I get only an email notice that the recipient has "viewed my shared files" which is kind of vague. I would like to know for certain that the client has actually downloaded the file. I know that I can log into the Acrobat site and "View Full Activity" for each file transfer, but it would be great to get an email notice or a text message.
    I hate to say it, but I still feel like we have taken a step backwards with this app, compared to SendNow. It is nice that the recipient can preview the file before downloading it. That seems to be the only benefit so far that I can see. But not having a memorized email address book can make the process very tedious.
    Another minor frustration: Whenever I log in to the Acrobat or SendNow site, there is a box that asks if I want to 'Stay signed in'. I click it every time since this is my own private computer, but I always have to log in anyway.
    When the Adobe Send app first launched, I had problems with it failing. It was VERY frustrating because the status bar would seem normal until the very end before kicking out a fail notice. It happened mostly with larger files or with multiple files. So, I would wait a long time only to have to do it all over again. the entire process would fail.  For example, if I sent six large files, and only one of the files was problematic, the entire transaction failed. The app would not identify the specific failed file. Why couldn't the app allow the good files to go through? I have no idea if this is resolved, but because of this, I have only used the SendNow app.
    well, is anyone there??

    Is working on FCE projects while all the video files are saved on an external drive a bad idea?
    Not at all. This is the correct way to work with a laptop.

  • How to 'deploy' an Applet when class files are on client machine?

    Hi all,
    I've searched through these forums and I can't find where my specific question has been asked before, so please accept my apologies for any duplication.
    I am trying to develop an applet for use on an intranet. (The specific requirement is that the applet must operate a scanner, and upload the scanned images to the database - we want it to be an applet so that it seamlessly integrates with the rest of the web application from the user's POV).
    Therefore the applet needs to run outside of the sandbox, but I don't want to go to all the hassle of getting a certificate from Verisign and signing the applet - that doesn't seem like it should be necessary, since there is no problem getting access to the client PC to install the class files by hand!
    I have read on this tutorial page that applets "that are loaded from the local file system (from a directory in the user's CLASSPATH) have none of the restrictions that applets loaded over the network do," so I don't think I am barking up the wrong tree:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/applet/security.html
    That is exactly what I want to do! But whenever I try to run the applet, I get a no class definition found exception. However, if I run the applet as a standalone application (using its static main method) then the JRE has no trouble locating the class file - so I know that my CLASSPATH environment variable is set ok.
    Therefore I think the problem must be in my JNLP file. This is what mine looks like at present:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="http://localhost:8080/JGNS008" href="http://localhost:8080/JGNS008/scanner-applet.jnlp">

            <!-- Application Resources -->
            <j2se version="1.6+" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se" />

             width="72"
             height="20">
         </applet-desc>
         <update check="background"/>
    </jnlp>How do I rewrite this so that it doesn't try to download the class files from the network?
    Many thanks,
    Richard.

    Huh. I had never heard of that, but since I do not have access to my end user's classpath it is not that important to me.
    BTW - I am guessing they mean the path indicated by [http://pscode.org/prop/all.html?prop=java.class.path].
    And putting classes into JRE folders seems very hackish to me.
    That is exactly what I want to do! But whenever I try to run the applet, I get a no class definition found exception. Therefore I think the problem must be in my JNLP file. Huh?!? Why not deploy the applet using a standard applet element? The only way to configure an applet using a JNLP is ..
    a) If the applet is intended to be free floating.
    b) If the applet is intended to be embedded in a plug-in2 architecture JRE. Why impose that restriction, when it seems unnecessary and unproductive?
    Note that the second option is very new, and I would not expect all the things mentioned in the document you linked, to apply equally to JNLP embedded applets. If you want this applet embedded, I suggest you drop the entire JNLP approach and use a standard applet element.
