DEVELOPER INSTALL

Hi,
Can any one tell me how to install Oracle 9i and Developer 6i on the same machine ? Which one should be installed first , which one next. And If I have to change any path or Oracle Home , during the setup process. The Machine is with Windows 2000 Service pack 4.
Thanks
Feroz

In general, start with the oldest version. Read the installation manual of Forms 9 if you can install in the same Oracle Home.

  • ORA-12154 after 10g Developer installed

    Guys
Not seen any specific references to these exact circumstances, and this may be in the wrong forum, but please bear with me .....
    I've recently installed Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on to my PC. Now, every time I try to connect to any Oracle database via PL/SQL Developer, Impromptu/Cognos etc, I get;
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Everything worked fine before the Developer install. As far as I can see my PC has exactly the same files and settings as before, as my old PC that was dumped a couple of weeks ago and as colleague's PCs who have not installed Oracle 10g Developer and are happily accessing databases.
Is there something the install amends that may have impacted?? Something that I need to be aware of or accomodate??
Thanks in advance for any help

You are about the 100000000 person with this problem.
This problem occurs when not reading the installation manual, not trying to find out what is going on, and jumping to the Usenet or this forum rightaway to ask this boring question AGAIN.
Why do people never pay attention? Why can't they be bothered to read the troubleshooting section in the Net administrators manual?
Why does everyone need to be spoon fed.
The answer is for the 100000001 time:
You have installed Developer in a different Oracle_home, you now have TWO different tnsnames.ora, and you need either
    - to synchronize them
    or
    - to set TNS_ADMIN string variable in HKLM\software\oracle to the old tnsnames.ora directory.

  • Is there such a thing as a Developer Install of Distiller Server?

I've heard that there used to be a developer install of Distiller Server available from Adobe - is this still the case?
If so, how can one be acquired?

  • SQL Developer install problems for Windows 7 Home edition

    Hi there,
I understand Windows 7 64-bit is not supported for oracle 11gR2 but I installed it anyway.
    This is not my problem.
I am trying to install SQL Developer and am getting this error when I click on the set up:
Unable to launch the Java Virtual machine, located at path:
    C:\Program Files(x86)Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin\msvcr71.dll
When I check the version of my java it is correctly displaying 1.6.0_21 for my 64 bit.
I read that you need the 32 bit one installed as well and I do. In my Program Files there is a java and a \jdk1.6.0_21 folder. In the bin directory it does not have this .dll:
    msvcr71.dll
Is that the problem, because i have heard of other people getting sql developer working on their Windows 7 home laptops but they are old posts and I'm not getting any reply.
I also changed the Environmental variable for the path, such as:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21 /bin
and none of the 3 above worked for me either.
    Any suggestions are appreciated!

I unzipped the sql developer download to C:\Windows and it unzipped fine. I went into my folder of sql developer, double clicked the sql developer.exe and it asked for the path for java. I clicked Browse and the default was C:\Program Files(x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin so I chose the java from this folder. It accepted the argument, tried to start sql developer, and came up with the same error, so something is still not right that I am not understanding??

  • SQL Server 2008 Developer install failed - Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2008 Developer edition on my laptop running Windows XP Professional SP2.  I ran the installer as a domain user with admin rights to the local box.  The installation advisor program certified that my system was ready for the install, but nevertheless I had to uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express edition and install .NET framework 3.5 SP1 first.  Once that was done, the installer finished, having successfully installed all the components of SQL Server 2008 except for the core database engine.  It failed with this error message: Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.
I uninstalled SQL Server 2008 and reinstalled with the same results.
Below is a snippet from my C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20081014_203925\Detail.txt which seems like it may be relevant.
Can anyone offer any assistance?  Would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I have recently donwloaded the evaluation version of SQL SERVER 2010. I have a similar problem to this user as shown below. I have tried changing the registry permissions for Microsoft SQL Server but this made no difference. Since the registry entries are created by the installation process it seems odd that it cannnot subsequently update the entry.
    Any ideas?

  • WL6.0 Multi developer install on Solaris

    Hi,
I have installed WL6.0 on a solaris m/c in a common directory logged in as
    root.
Everything works fine when I run the WL server as root.
But, I would like to run the WL server as an ordinary user from my home
directory. So, I copy the config directory to my area, and then start the WL
    server on a different port.
The EJBs deploy fine, but I am unable to create JDBC connection pools and
install startup classes. There is obviously something wrong with starting WL
    from my local area.
My question is - what are the WL files, i need to copy over to my home dir,
to successfully start the WL server from my dir ?
    Thanks,
    Karthik

I can find the patchset in MOS for 10.1.0.5. I'm not able to find the base release software in otn or edelivery site. A 10.1.0.5 client is available as Instant Client:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/sol64soft-085649.html
With IC there are no "admin" tools etc. like in the "full" install, and not all app interfaces/api's are supported, so depending on your requirements it may not be usable (it's one of the very first releases of Instant Client, the current one's are more developed).

  • 2012 Developer Install: prior version registry problem

    Hi,
Just trying to do a simple ms sql 2012 developer edition install on a win 7 machine.  It would be easy except this machine has a laplink upgrade history.   Some old registry entry from the ms sql 2005 install
is messing up the current 2012 install.  I've uninstalled ms sql 2005 and ms sql 2008 but this registry thing is still stopping the 2012 install.  I had a thought about this.  If I uninstall all ms sql prior version,  look around on disk
and delete any leftover ms sql related files, and then go into regedit and completely delete any ms sql 2005 and 2008 entries, that should give me a fresh start on ms sql 2012, right?  No files, no installs, no registry entries.  There's nothing
the machine can remember about an old ms sql install, right?

    Hi,
In addition, you can refer the below post to remove SQL 2005 completely.

  • How to uninstall oracle10g developer & install oracle enterprise  solaris10

Hi forum members , I'm newby in oracle and solaris also, but with your help I could successfully install oracle 10g developer edition on solaris 10, but I must uninstalled in order to install an oracle 10g enterprise instance, I thing that it's possible an kind of upgrade, but I woul prefer unistalling and installing and start of the begining
Do you recommend some links to unistall and clear solaris10 of the oracle's stuff?
    thanks in advance

The six-step process to remove all things Oracle from a Windows machine:
    A. Delete the Oracle services: In the registry, go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete everything that starts with "Oracle"
    B. Remove other Oracle stuff from the registry: Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ and delete the key ORACLE
    C. Reboot
    D. Delete all the Oracle software from the directories where you installed it
    E. Delete the Oracle software inventory: Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Oracle. You must do this no matter where you installed your Oracle software - the Oracle installer automatically writes information here.
    F. Delete all shortcuts from your Start menu.+

  • Developer install fails 128mb RAM ???

Recently got 10g pack in post, installed 'Standard' database ok, started db ok, got listener + isqlplus + enterprise manager running ok, can log in etc.
Tried to install the developer cd using usual ./runInstaller and the GUI installer loads and asks for basic or full install.
It does not matter which option is selected as a message box pops up saying 128MB RAM is needed for Oracle Developer, click ok (only option) and it goes back to the installation screen.
This system has 512MB, which should be fine.
I cant get beyond the install screen as the message about 128MB RAM keeps popping up.
I had the same problem with Slackware 9.0 and kernel 2.4.22, so I dont think its a problem with the way the 2.6.x kernel version allows apps to read memory availability differently to 2.4.x.
If anyone could offer any opinion's that would be great, as I have not found anything associated by searching google.
    Many thanks!

I've had a look at the log files of the install and the lst few lines show that the "GetMemorySize" query returned 0, which is incorrect as this machine has 512MB.
So this does point to an issue with the software not taking into Account the changes in the 2.6.x kernel series (maybe theres a legacy support option in the kernel, I'll check).
All the java classes are compiled so I dont think I can "edit" a file to say "no the memory is enough".

  • What/Where is 'web listener'? (Forms Developer Install)

I just installed Forms Developer, and after it was done it gave me a list of actions that needed to be done. All of the actions are similar to the one below (instruct me to use my web listener). What is a web listener, and how to I use it?
[ACTION] Please configure the following virtual path with your web listener: /forms60java for
    physical directory V:\oracle\oradev\FORMS60\java.
    thanks.

    Sameers-
a Web listener is another name for a web server, which is the process that listens for and responds to requests end users make with their Web browsers. The Web listener is responsible for servicing requests from the clients - typically this is in the form of a request for a HTML page, or in some cases, it may be to request for an application, in which case, the HTML is generated dynamically by code running on the server machine.
The Web listener uses a protocol (a series of known commands used to convey instructions and information) called HTTP, (hypertext transport protocol) to communicate with the clients. The Web browsers used by the clients also use HTTP, so they can send and receive messages to the Web listener.
In the Oracle9iAS world, the web listener is the Oracle HTTP Server, powered by Apache. It provides a process that understands HTTP and can receive/respond to client requests. In the forms portion of 9iAS, the web listener is used to launch the Forms Web Applet, by providing a HTML page to the browser that contains information on how the browser should access the forms server machine.

  • Forgot weblogic Password on 11g Release 2 Developer install. How do I reset my passwor

    Hello,
I forgot my weblogic password. If anyone know how to reset lost passwords please let me know
    ORacle 11g Release 2 Forms/Reports on Windows 8.1
    Thanks
    Rao

This isn't exactly related to forms, as it is merely a weblogic problem and not exactly related to forms (even though it is forms you have installed).
A quick google search however looks promising:
    https://www.google.at/search?q=reset+weblogic+password
did you try any of these? Anyway; if none of these work I guess you are better off in a weblogic forum.

  • Cf developer install (mis)configuration

i'm running apache 2.2.4 (installed using xampp 1.6.2) on my
local windows (xp) server. after installing apache (which runs
without problem and supports php files without problem) i installed
    cf8 developers edition.
during cf8 installation i configured the apache config
    folder: xampp/apache/conf
AND i configured the root directory to be xampp/htdocs. the
CFIDE folder was installed below xampp/htdocs.
everything completed without problem during install (cf8 is
in the default c:\ColdFusion8 directory), but when i go to log into
    my administrator page (localhost/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm),
the index.cfm is presented for download instead of being parsed.
from that description of my problem can anyone point me in
the correct direction to remedy my problem?

It will work with 32-bit Apache on 64-bit Linux. IIRC, the
limitation is with JRun. You should be able to install CF8 as-is on
JBoss using the J2EE configuration without a problem.
You can apply to beta test the 64-bit version of CF here:
