Developer section under system preferences?

I am an apple developer, and I must ask what is the "developer" section under the settings on my ipad? What is it used for? How can I use it? Does it have something to do with xcode? Thanks

This would be a good question in the iOS Developer forum.

When I press "select backup location" in the Time Machine section of System Preferences, my external hard drive doesn't appear as an option.  How do I change this?  My external hard drive is a FreeAgent GoFlex Drive.

Hi, what Format is the external Drive?
They usually come PC Formatted for Fat32/MSdos, or NTFS... is there anything on it now?

  • In lion can I clear the list of applications that have requested Location Services under System Preferences...Security

In Lion, can I clear the list of applications that have requested Location Services under System Preferences...Security & Privacy…Privacy?
I have uninstalled an application but the name of the app is still showing up in this list of apps.  I have disabled it but was wondering if there is a way to remove it from this list.

I don't believe you can since it is populated automatically by the system. FWIW, I do not have location services enabled - I chose not to since I have no intention of tucking my 27" under my arm and taking it somewhere. And, I deny any request any app wanting to use it and have not experienced any error messages because of it.

  • AirPort does not show under System Preferences Network Show

    Hello,
I am having problems with my AirPort Express. It is listed in AirPort Admin Utility (with an IP Address), but does not show up under System Preferences > Network > Show.
How can I get the AirPort recognized?
    Thanks,
    Fidelio

In System under "Network" it shows "AirPort Card" with "No information found"
Your Mac does not have a wireless card installed or it is not working.
However, I would like to set up a shared printer and instructions I have for this say that I need to get the IP address of AirPort under System Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort.
That information should have nothing to do with a printer since the information there relates to your Mac... not to the AirPort Express (AX).

  • I have updated my Apple ID, but iCloud under System Preferences on my iMac still shows the old Apple ID. How do I update it to show the new ID name? Can anyone help?

I've updated my Apple ID, but iCloud under System Preferences on my iMac still shows my old Apple ID. How do I update it to show the new Apple ID?

Do you mean you changed your existing apple id to a new email address, still associated to your existing apple id?
If that's the case, just click the sign out button in the icloud preferences, and sign in with the new email address.
If you're actually created an entirely new apple id with your new email address, you'll have to do some exporting/importing.

  • I cannot find icloud on my mac.  I have looked under system preferences  but it doesn't show up.

Where do I find icloud on my mac?  I have looked under system preferences but it isn't there.  I thought I had the latest software and my iphone has icloud on it.  Now do I get it on my mac so they will talk to each other.  Can't sync calendar.

I'm not running OSX Lion 10.7.2.  I guess that's not a free download?

  • Developer section under settings ipad?

Use Xcode/Organizer to see the logs on your device.
See TN2239: iOS Debugging Magic on how to get that done. What it means for your app depends on what your app does, of course. It's up to you to work that out.
    Good luck.

Under System Preferences, Hardware, CD i DVD...  The menu text and dropdown choices are in a foreign Language.  I have my normal Language set to English.  What gives?

Thanks for the reply. I only have English - Primary but I guess I could add Finland and then delete it...
Okay, tried that, lots of variations including deleting all other languages and only using Finnish, and then using only British English etc - when guest is in Finnish the whole lot becomes Finnish/Suomi (see attached photos to compare with the ones above) - then when you delete Finnish and go back to English, everything is Englisg apart from 'Vierastilin käyttäjä' as above.
Any other ideas where it stores that info - is there a dodgy preference file somewhere which needs zapping?

I don't see icloud under system preferences and this is the first step in all directions to turn on photo stream on the macbook.  Any ideas?  Right now my pictures are stuck on my iphone and when i connect via wire it says the pictures cant be uploaded because of a  problem with a picture.  It does not tell me which picture or what the problem is.  Any ideas what the problem may be and how to fix it so that I can at east upload photos with he USB connector?  Thanks!

You must be running 10.7.2 or later for iCloud.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
