Developer Workspace NW 2004s

Hi,
I have successfully installed the developer workplace for NW04s. However, when I tried to login to any application in it (UME, WD content management, portal, etc). For now, I am trying to login as Administrator. I kept getting back the login page even when the login is successful (if not successful, it gave error). I am able to run the WD example applications.
I can't figure out what I am missing. One suspicious error:
[Thr 2600] JStartupICheckFrameworkPackage: can't find framework package C:\usr\sap\NWS\JC00\exe\jvmx.jar
Has anybody had any idea or come across the same issue?
Thanks in Advance,
Ti.

    HI
If i remember correct , Installation will ask you for MaxDB user ids , it will give errors latter if you give lengthy user ids ( i think >8 or 9  ) . So try not to give lengty ids also check your host name. Looks like that also too long

  • Where to download Developer Workspace SR2 (NW 7.0 Java Trial Version)

    Hi together,
I bought a Portal-Developement book with some very interessting tutorials.
For this book the SAP NW 7.0 Java Trial Version (including Developer Workspace SR2 and Developer Studio) is recommended.
Here in SDN I just found SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 SR5. Unfortunately the differences especially in Developer Studio are big (e.g. in the new version there is no possibility to make a quick par-upload).
So where can I find the "old" NW 7.0 Java Trial Version?
    Best regards
    Davor Serdar

  • Your Feedback Desired: Integrating Developer Workspaces through SSO

    Greetings,
I work a for junior college in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we are actively preparing to deploy Oracle APEX to complement our web application design activities, and hopefully empower our developers to create applications that move away from the aged batch and process model. We are interested in securing the development side of APEX using single sign-on if possible. We want developer accounts to be provisioned and password controlled through an external source of truth. I've reviewed the administration guide, and did some Googling to see if this is possible or has been done before. So far I'm coming up with nothing. Managing developer accounts apparently is done one way through APEX instance administration. Before I deliver my findings to the greater team, I want to make sure I have accurate information.
Please share your experiences with managing APEX developers and workspaces. How are you doing it in a production environment? Have you been able to automate the process? Successes or pitfalls?
    Cheers,
    Matt

    Hi,
Currently application builder is authenticated with Apex users
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/admin.40/e15521/aadm_users.htm#sthref107
There is no way use LDAP or SSO to login to application builder currently.
You can create end user applications that are authenticated with LDAP, SSO ....
But developer users are maintained as Apex users by instance and/or workspace admin.

  • Managing Development Workspace

We are using HTMLDB to build applications which may contains hundreds's pages. What will be the best practice to manage the workspace for a team of developers who will be working on the same application at the same time? Should we break it to smaller applications? What will be the effective way to apply same changes to multiple applications?

Frankly, the HTML DB Application Builder environment is not really geared to manage multiple developers working on the same large application.
The best you can do is divide up the application into sensible "page groups" and each developer can work on his page group(s).
Each developer (or team of developers) can also lock the pages they are working on to prevent anyone else from changing them.
When it comes time to deploy the application, each page (or set of pages in a page group) can be deployed independently. Unfortunately, if the application uses application-level components (processes, items, shortcuts Shared Components, etc), the entire application will have to re-deployed.
In addition to the page-level exports, I would keep the entire application export in a source code control software like VSS, PVCS, etc and just maintain version control in that software. Remember an application export is just a plain text .SQL file with a bunch of API calls.
    Hope this helps.

  • EE5 Developer Studio with 2004s instance?

Can I use the developer studio bundled with the EE5 preview to write and deploy J2EE 1.3 apps to a NetWeaver 2004s instance?

    Hi Bill,
With the NWDS in the Java EE 5 Edition you can also write J2EE 1.3 or 1.4 compiant apps - for example choose Enterprise Application Project (w/o 5) or EJB Project (w/o 3.0). These will generate them as J2EE 1.4, for example you'll have to edit the deployment descriptors to make them 1.3 compliant. Just play around with it and come back if you have any further questions.
Regarding deployment - unfortunately this is not possible. In NetWeaver 04 and 04s NWDS talked to the SDM, in the Java EE 5 Edition SDM is gone, the deployment process is different. However, you can export the EAR file from the Java EE 5 NWDS and deploy it to the NW04s instance through SDM Remote GUI, for instance (or some other of the deployment options available in 04s).
    Hope it helps a bit!

  • Multi developer/workspace projects & deployment

    hi im a beginner
I would like to read up about how multiple developers can work on projects involving the same apex application and how they can create a releasable build at the end of the development phase for testing.
at the moment what I dont understand is...
    1) can 3 developers work on their own personal workspace to work on the same 60 page application?... do we create one workspace called "development-project-a" with different usernames and build on the single application? ..
1a) if we can work on our personal workspaces  how do we merge the application to create a build for test?
    2) when the build is complete and deployed to another environment; how can subsequent bug fixes be deployed from development to the test environment (partial or full builds?)
im sure there is a guide somewhere but i cant find one
    matt

Simple answer.. You have multiple developers working in ONE workspace on ONE applications.  You work on separate pages, locking those pages if required so no one ELSE can modify them.
Nightly you would export a copy of the application to a version control product just in case someone makes a change and it causes damage..
When you are ready to release a product, you export your application and any needed database objects to you test environment and then production.  It is NOT advised to try exporting pages when doing changes, it is a better option to export an app in its entirety..

  • DC deployed using Development location workspace instead of Consolidated

    Hello,
I have a track with few DCs which I have transported to our QA portal.
One of the DCs, although is working in dev, is not working in QA.
I have checked SystemInfo and noticed that this is the only DC that was deployed with _D location instead of _C, meaning the code was taken from the Development workspace instead of the Consolidated one.
I have no open, pending or unreleased activities under this component (or any other component in this track), I have nothing pending in the Consolidation queue on CMS and the assembly was done after everything from the Consolidation queue has been successfully  imported.
Can someone please advise why is it deploying it from the _D location which may be the reason for the errors?
    Rgds,
    Roy

    Problem solved.
I have compared the dev workspace with cons using DTR comparison tool and found that one integration activity was pending. This looks like an internal SAP activity which is why I didn't see it on our activities. After activating that activity, integrating it into the cons workspace and reassembling the SDA in this track the problem was solved.

  • Owner of eclipse workspace had his account removed from Visual Studio, unable to check in or shelve pending changes.

A colleague recently left and his Visual Studio account was removed. Problematically, he was the owner of our Android Development workspace in Eclipse. Now when I attempt to check-in pending changes I get this error:
"The identity <Owner's Username> is not a recognized identity."
I also sometimes get an error saying the workspace does not exist
I have occasionally been able to successfully check-in single files, but this is unreliable.
I have attempted to change the ownership of the workspace with the command
    tf workspace workspacename;username /computer:computername /collection:TeamProjectCollectionUrl /newowner:ownername
but it throws an error saying I have to shelve pending changes before I can change the ownership of the workspace, which is of course gives me the error message above when I attempt it. Interestingly the above command sometimes fails and claims the workspace
doesn't exist, but it only does this sometimes.
I'm very confused as what to do, especially with so many things sometimes almost working for no reason, and I welcome any suggestions.

So I think I have dealt with the issue. What I ended up doing was recreating my colleagues account then shelving the changes in the workspace making sure I had the 'Store pending changes locally' box unchecked. This
allowed me to then use the command:
    tf workspace workspacename;username /computer:computername/collection:TeamProjectCollectionUrl
    /newowner:ownername
To change the workspace to my name, then in Eclipse pending changes explorer view in the Actions drop down menu I selected 'Switch Workspace' and chose the new workspace that was now under my name. An alert pops up saying that it will bring all projects offline,
I hit OK then I right-clicked my project in package explorer and went to Team->Return Online. I can now check in pending changes and safely remove the old account.

  • Best APEX developing practices?

    Hello,
I have a simple question - What are the best APEX developing practices in regards to developing workspaces ?
There are two ways to develop in APEX (when you create an application for internal use, of cause) :
One is to have a workspace per Application - Meaning that you have Developing, Test and Production Application in the same Workspace, and this Workspace would be reserved to one application only. The advantage of this approach is that it is easy to move ready pages (or even the whole application) from Developing to Production - You can simply copy ready pages from one application to another.
The other one is to have a Workspace per Environment - Meaning that you have all your Production applications in one Workspace and all the Development application in another Workspace. In this case, when you have to move a page to Production, you have to export it, and import it to another Workspace. The advantage of this approach is security - you don't work in production...
So I wanted to ask APEX gurus - What is your opinion on that? Are there any Oracle standards for developing in APEX? What is your best working experience in regards to developing applications in APEX, etc..??
    Thank you!

    Hi Sloger
Keep it simple DEV, TEST and PROD are on separate database instances, preferably on separate servers.
If you only have one box, then develop your app on your PC using XE.
You can have the same workspace id on multiple databases, allowing you to promote between databases easily using SQL*Plus.
As far as on app per workspace, that's entirely up to you.
Multiple applications in a single workspace work very well - after all this is how the APEX team builds the Application Builder.

    Mark

  • APEX 4.Loosing translatable text when exporting/importing to new workspace

    Hi everyone,
I am developing a bilingual application (base English translated to french) and I noticed something weird when exporting/importing to another workspace.
First, my application is flagged as requiring synchronization after an import. Yes, I did check that it was not flagged right before the export. I did choose Export Translations.
Secondly, when I look at the translated application in the new workspace, my Region Names are not translated anymore (in english instead of french). When I cmpare the 2 Translation Repositories (using the Manually Edit Translation Repository) I lost all Region Names entries (Column Description = Region name).
Thirdly, when again comparing the 2 Translation Repositories, I have the same number of Strings and Distinct Strings by if I group by Column Descriptions the sub-totals differ and I don't even have the same distinct Column Descriptions.
My test was done with my development workspace and a test workspace (where I deleted all application prior to my test) in the same instance.
    Anybody had these problems?
    Thanks all
I am using 4.1.1.00.23 on the Oracle Database 11g Express Edition.

    Hi there,
Well....I guess "they lied" would be me, huh?
Unfortunately, this is a bug. This issue with region titles was first reported in Bug in 4.1.1: Region Title translations is lost I recorded it as Bug 13801807 - REGION TITLE TRANSLATIONS LOST WHEN IMPORTING AS A NEW APPLICATION ID. It's fixed in APEX 4.2.
    I hope this helps.

  • Workspace name already exists

I created a workspace called DEVELOPMENT using HTLM DB's ADMIN user. At a later date the DEVELOPMENT workspace was deleted. I now want to recreate the workspace with the same name and get an "workspace name already exists" error. Using the Manage Workspaces option there is no entry for DEVELOPMENT. So my query is how come I get the error when there is no longer any record of the original workspace?
    Many thanks for any assistance,
    Ian

    Ian,
The service maintains a list of workspace provisioning requests, by workspace name. Even after a service (workspace) has been terminated or deleted, the request is still in a table. Try to view all requests (using a status LOV) on one of those service request or change request admin pages. You can adjust the status of a request and there's also a way to remove the request. After it's removed you should be able to create a workspace with the old name.
If you can't find the right page to do this, let us know and I'll get you the exact navigation steps to it.
    Scott

Dude thank-you for your wonder detailed knowldge, I have descovered that lets say xp 1700 in a ultra 2 can only handle at the most 143fsb mult at 12.
Given the settings" irq's are a major",part of directing traffic and power? example:
Sound blaster Live , uses two irq's most common at"Auto" is, irq 10, or 5, and Sound blaster 16 emulation usually takes irq 5,. I have found that the sound card in slot3 works great , but to do this I had to change the Bio's and assign slot 3 irq 7 . and make sure printer port has share irq enabled
Problems that accure with bad traffic are like this. Start a dedicated server. minimize than start your game?":censored:  no sound what could be wrong"? Shoot another problem Connection problem?. The computer nerd is getting trouble over the ordeal. ANSWER! IRQ can fix the problem, Study the irq and make changes as you go. "what would it be like with no stop signs,,,that is the same as a irq. with the same knowldge this topic brings IRQ need to be clearly understood.
I can honestly say my system is error free and running like a dream.
    xp 2500 barton 333
    creative sound 5.1gamers.
512 mb kingston ram 400 mhz
    boadband either onboard.
    MSI 5700 128 mb ddr
    Setting are:
    163 fsb
    mult of 11
    ddr 333
video memory clock down to 450mhz
    3d clock to 390mhz
The delta is a smooth running board also I want to mention to the person with crackling sounds, change the irq like I did, that fix the problem and the power is totaly too good to be true.

  • Workspace related question

The application scenario is as below.
We have an existing java web application and wants to integrate with BPM process and workspace.
    Let me know
Is it good to develop Workspace functionality in Existing web application using PAPI or Integrate Web application with Workspace, becouse Only Workspace functionality is not sufficient and other business use cases are implemeted in Web application. Please give ideas on this scenario.
    Thanks

Also, In one of your post, you also suggested to some other user that we can also do that by saving the file in workspace and attaching it in form. I have already uploaded the document into workspace folder, but not getting any option in form to attach the document from there... Is this relate to ver 9.3.1 or ver11.I was referring to version 11 where it is a new feature.
Can you please suggest in detail how to use the custom javascripts to get the attachment possible? (I am a non-technical person, can you please elaborate)I am afraid you it is going to get a bit techy if you want to use custom javascript, there is information on how to use custom javascript in the planning administrators documentation.
There is also some examples of javascript that can be used within the planning web server e.g. ..\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\custom\SampleValidateData.js
