@Developers: WTF are you doing to firefox?

I have been a faithful FF user for over 10 years. I own many sites (50+) which I use to make my living. So we've established that I'm not some new to the web kid. Got it? Good..
I have updated to latest version 29,521 are whatever it is this month. Who can keep up? When it's finished installing the update I have Chrome. Really? I mean it says it's FF but it looks like chrome, it acts like chrome (except for the stability) must be chrome. If I wanted chrome I would have installed it. Did Google buy you out? If not they really should sue you..
Here's just a few of my complaints:
You have never been able to get FF stable and un-cpu-hoggish since like version 5. So why move on to something new when you cant seem to make the old version work worth a flip?
Cant move the back button. I don't want it permanently attached to the address bar.
Forward button is MIA???
Refresh button is MIA??? I know it's in the address drop down. Who's stupid idea was that?
I don't want to search from the address bar. Another stupid idea...
More then like 2 extensions and there goes the memory. Don't even try to use web developer... Just dont do it...
Really I could go on and on....
Mozilla members don't bother trying to answer my questions. There is no answer other than 'we know it sux and were gonna fix it.' Really just want the developers to know what I and bet many others think of the latest update.... and yes I know there an option to make it look/work like the previous versions. Ever heard the saying.. ' "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," that applies here...
So I guess since you've tried so hard to make it Chrome, I will just use Chrome... I'll check back in a few months (next update or 2) and see if you have come to your senses..
Thanks for making my mind up for me....
As the kids say, EPIC FAIL!!!

Wrong place to try.
I am sorry but Firefox 29 / Australis Development, and design policy decisions are again off topic on this forum. (We did initially temporarily suspend that forum policy so that people had a chance to say something)
I am sorry but we are only fellow users of Firefox there are no Developers here to see or answer these questions. It only diverts attention and effort from trying to help users with problems.
Please See for example a long recently closed thread.

  • Java on Chrome - what are you doing Oracle?

Google have made clear for a long time that the NPAPI support in Chrome will be switched off, and that plugins using NPAPI should move to PPAPI.
What is being done to migrate the Java plugin?
Chrome has by far the biggest user base, and as of update 42 (on Windows - much earlier on Linux) NPAPI is no longer supported. Which means no more Java.
Adobe has already updated the Flash plugin. What are you doing Oracle?

Once oracle in a forms forum suggested they had a way to launch java code from the web directly to java
installed on the client and not using a browser plugin. But they are cagey like let's wait and see if the customers
end up with no way to run applets for a few months and if so then we could assign some developers to this. Whereas from
the customer point of view, the very first minute that personnel cannot run mission critical applets is a serious problem
for which the customer feels they should come up with a plan to deal with it now. Now wait until it happens.
However web start or similar depends on java being installed on the client.
    This was an interesting article:
Android is the new Win32, the new Java and the new Flash
Marketing stuff but it points out an idea of using Android Runtime for Chrome” (ARC).
There's many other potential solutions possible such as getting the firefox source now that can run the jre plugin
and keeping it for later :-) Or taking the firefox source that won't run the plugin in the future and fixing it. Or some
other browser source that can run the plugin. This is something we customers can do. It is certainly something Oracle
can do but they have to have the think ahead mindset.

  • Whoops! What are you doing here? Did you make a left at that last URL instead of a right? No problem. Unless you want us to deal you in,I want in then how?

Whoops! What are you doing here?
Did you make a left at that last URL instead of a right? No problem. Unless you want us to deal you in, here are some tips to get you back on your way:
If you typed in the address, check your spelling. Could just be a typo.
If you’ve found an issue with one of our websites, we’d appreciate it if you could report the problem in Bugzilla, our bug tracker. One of our developers will take a look at it as soon as possible.
If you followed a link, it’s probably broken.
If you’re not sure what you’re looking for, start at mozilla.org.
It's not broken it's not letting me do what I want too and I am very upset and I want in on this project that you are trying to guide me away from!!!!! I did not find this website by searching or typing i found it by using my tools.

Are you trying to access the Mozilla website? What page in specific is causing this to happen?
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
Please report this bug to the development team at [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Bugzilla], so that they can repair the issue as soon as possible.

  • What is causing this problem and what are you doing to fix it? Should I just go back to Internet Explorer?

Every single day, Firefox crashes and sometimes in the most inopertune time. This is very frustrating as some of the times I can not go back in and correct what I was not able to do due to your site crashing. What is causing this problem and what are you doing to fix it? Should I just go back to Internet Explorer?

First, you must use a specific [[Managing profiles|profile]] for Firefox 4.0 Beta and keep your current one for Firefox 3.6 to prevent interferences between the two versions.
    For your problem:
    # [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] could be a cause.
    # If not 1. and if it does not happen in [[Safe Mode]], you must disable HW acceleration in Options > Advanced > General. If it solves your issue, your graphic driver is out-of-date and must be updated. Go to your computer manufacturer support site.

  • I´ve bought the new IPad3, what a disappointment the 3G does not work, no Internet available, APPLE what are you doing for the all the people in Germany who bought the new IPad3? I´m still an Apple fan, all my products are from Apple but I need a solution

I have been waiting since months for the new IPad4G 64 Gbt. ON recommendation of Apple Support I have changed my IPad 4G last week in the hope that something was wrong with the firts one I bought.
The one I have now has the same problems. WiFi is working however 4G not at all. Apple what can I do? What are you doing for the thausands of German Apple fans who have bought a IPad4G and can not use it. We need a solution NOW. I´m working with this tool and need to be able to rely on it.

It would be advisable for Apple to react officially on it. € 799, - for something that doesn´t function is no fun :-((
Isn't replacing your iPad Apple "officially" acting on it?

  • What are you doing now?

    What are you doing ?

Because you don't seem like a real TNS listener ;)

  • What are you doing with software (games) designed to run on Snow Leopard.  Have you heard of anyone making a patch for LION?

What are you doing with software (games) designed to run on Snow Leopard when the Os is Lion?

It is up to the publishers of games to accommodate their software to Lion.
Blizzard, publisher of StarCraft, WarCraft, and Diablo, has posted a statement about that -
    Blizzard Support
Although they were able to create patches to allow the use of their (OS 9) games in OS X up through Snow Leopard, apparently from their perspective it is not possible to patch those games for Lion.

  • What are you doing Verizon?

You know, Verizon, people need their cellphones so school, work, etc. can contact them, and since many East coast people have been down without service 4 about 3 hours, how about a credit, yeah, give us back the day, or a week credit since you completely screwed up some people's days. Happens we have no water today, and I cannot contact my plumber so I am beyond ****** right now, I don't have a landline, nice going!!!! Its America, right???

NEW UNDOCUMENTED FEATURES in the "new software update" is nothing but pure garbage. Phone now reboots during a phone call, screen blanks out power button don't work, touch screen and still stays blank then have to pull the battery out to reset the annoying frustrating phone. Verizon when and if are you going to get the problem corrected?? Price goes up Quality and Service goes down Can you hear me now Verizon????
cowboyjake88 wrote in another forum about the new software problem and I feel the same way.
    Things I have tried:
    -Factory reset (3 times)
-Taking Battery out and letting it sit for awhile (up to 15mins)
-Avoiding the urge to just throw it against the wall (hardest one of all)
Things I'd like to avoid in finding a solution:
-Rooting ( tried and failed at that already in the past)
    -Waiting for ANOTHER replacement phone
-Throwing it against the wall (still seems like that would make me the happiest right now)

  • No print server service. What are you doing?

I am still getting familiar with Mountain Lion server as I roll out services in the office.  I noticed there's no print server in ML Server.  How are you all dealing with this in an office environment?

It's still there as far as I'm aware, the server GUI is gone. Youn can manage it via the cups web interface
    On the server - 127.0.0.1:631
You'd have to enable network access to cups web interface if you want to access it from another machines
It's restricted to localhost by default

  • WTF are you people doing? Firefox sucks almost as bad as IE now, please stop "fixing" it.

With each new version you suck a little bit more.
You have become as bad as google, updating and changing for no good reason, in a race to the bottom with yourself.
The whole reason I started using Firefox is because it worked, now after thousands of installs and convincing users to ditch IE you have become just as bad.
I now restart Firefox a dozens times a day on the 3 machines I use daily. The memory requirements are staggering and FF is now SLOW.
First thing out of the box you will say "you have too many add ons", sorry, I only use one, noscript and not even that on 2 of the three machines.
Three tabs open and nearly 600,000K and using 1-12% CPU just to type this text.
Don't bother with an answer, just clean up your mess. In the alternative we can all wait for someone to come along and eat your lunch. Give me a browser that WORKS and I will forget Firefox ever existed.

Yep, firefox sucks now. I'm now forced to use Chrome.
When watching full movie streams, it would freeze and hog the CPU for about 3 minutes and then continue.
When I'm working on a site that uses flash, it too would freeze and hog the CPU.
Firefox is now a system resource hog.

  • What are you doing to fix the printing problem in Win 10 Technical Preview?

I am beta testing the new Microsoft Windows 10 Technical Preview. I and many others are experiencing a problem with Firefox in this operating system. Web pages will not print from Firefox. When you send a page to the printer, it comes out blank, even though it displays properly in the the preview window. This problem exists on both 32 and 64 bit systems and only with Windows 10.
Some information related to this can be seen at: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_tp-performance/anyone-having-a-problem-printing-from-firefox-in/b05be085-d36f-426f-9224-fe36f8f55af0
I hope you can help with this problem.

There is a bug on file for this but it's still in the early stages of investigation, as you can see:
    [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1089188 1089188 – Printing blank pages on Windows 10]
I think someone with knowledge of Windows printing will need to step up and examine what has changed on the Windows print API side, or it could be a while before this gets addressed.
As long as you are experimenting, do you want to try:
    (1) The Print pages to PDF extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/print-pages-to-pdf/ - this does not use Firefox's print code, but extracts the page to an embedded Webkit-based renderer.
    (2) Waterfox: https://www.waterfoxproject.org/ - this unofficial third party build of the Firefox code is recompiled for 64-bit Windows. If this works correctly with your printers, it might be a useful data point.

  • What are you doing about your problem wifi

Just wondering how people are handling their iPads with problem wifi.
    No need for discussions.
    Choices:
    A) Returned the iPad
    B) Fixed the wifi (somehow)
    C) Keeping the iPad with wifi not working
    thanks

Not exactly.. The HP Slate is a full-on computing experience, geared toward actual computer-related use,
..and based on an OS that was designed to be used with a keyboard and mouse with applications also designed to use a keyboard and mouse. Unless Win7 has had a miraculous make-over with tablets in mind from the bottom up, the experience will be painful. For example, you'll find it necessary to keep a stylus at all times because the controls are fine tuned to the discrete and accurate mouse pointer, not the large size of the human digit. I used an HP tablet for two summers and tried very hard to use it as a tablet and not a notebook. I always wound up with the keyboard. Yeah, the Slate is going to be a wonderful experience...
where the iPad is more for entertainment.
Yeah, that explains why I've been able to handle so much of my work on the iPad from creating documents and presentation to even starting a rather complex illustration. No, the iPad isn't a notebook computer - nor was it meant to be. All my Pages and Keynote documents have been moved from the iPad to my computer for final touch-ups but that's okay for me. The documents ultimately get used from there anyway.
There are always trade-offs when we want to shrink our computer small enough to carry around and the tablet requires even more trade-offs. Apple chose to lighten the OS so the drag on the processor and battery is reduced. HP chose to design around Windows 7 so it has to accept a combination of slower speed and reduced battery life. The next question is how will developers react to the HP Slate - will they build special apps for it or will they slap on tabletish interfaces to their Windows programs. I'm betting most will choose the latter. More drain on battery and speed. That's why I predict the HP Slate will be another Microsoft non-starter.

  • N900 - all problems in one / Why are you doing thi...

750$ device: problems with supporting MS exchange server 2003 (still most commonly used), no real forum support (maemo developers usually don't reply you, probably busy with meego preparations - I don't blame them), slow and old processor (in the brand's flagship phone), no real GPS navigation - low end Nokia phones got it for free :/, fMMS buggy as hell free-only way to use MMS - an argument that iphone also didn't have it - I don't buy.
Ultra-bad battery - most of the real good features you can't use because of this: Widgets, the (otherwise very cool) display full brightness, 3G you have to switch off all the time. Literally when using it normally (internet, e-mail, calls, messages) with 3G, widgets, and normal display mode .. it goes down like after 4 hours at max..maybe less. And not even talking about Youtube... no native app, ofc. All the apps you can get – in mediabox, zoutube..and others (tried about 5) buggy as hell (again) – and I don’t need to download the videos, just watch them online, I would do that in the browser, but you’ve got to overclock the device to get the videos in a watchable way in the browser.
I am willing even to do that.. but some of the programs needed for that can’t be installed..and with no forum support (not even thinking about an official online one from Nokia)..one can’t get anywhere + by overclocking one ofc looses warranty, battery and device life.
    So let’s conclude:
It is the most expensive and advanced Nokia you can get – it has literally its own OS – abandoned by Nokia after 6 months from release of N900.
It is not useful for work (poor MS exchange support, poor sync even with the newly released MS online services, poor and no native Google apps – Gmail, Google docs, calendar support, the email client doesn’t support search or categories). However, paid version of the docs to go is very good..
It is not useful for fun either (poor social networking apps even in extras-develop-testing, it is nice having all the computer game ports, however we all know the UI and the actual game play are **bleep**, and if you want to have at least the PS emulator...you again HAVE TO OVERCLOCK)
It is not useful for navigation (the GPS itself is of poor quality and you have to pay for something that low-end users have for free) Also it lacks digital compass – so no augmented reality here.
the FM transmitter (even with FM booster) doesn’t really work (tried in three different cars).  The phone is heavy and the keyboard gets scratched really fast when using it regularly. Also the camera is much worse than in my 3 years old N82!!  No useful twitter app – tweego, nice looking, but no search (**bleep**?) and I’m not even starting on witter.
I want to state that I don’t need a phone for dummies (iphone n’ stuff) and I’m willing to set my phone and spend a lot of time with installing it, going through forums and everything.. but what is too much is too much.
And it is great that it all runs now on QT, however most QT apps you can get now for maemo are useless, not working or demos only – and even if that changes in the future – do you seriously want to run on an outdated OS with no support from the manufacturer??..  I also don’t need everything for free..I am willing to pay for apps and software and everything. But!! Ovi offer for N900 is not even a joke! And what I am not willing to pay for is 3rd party navigation.. when Nokia distributes it to almost every other Smartphone for free.
With the OS – I would even go for paying for the MeeGo upgrade (whenever it would be ready and if Nokia would support Maemo – or should I call it N900 OS – properly meanwhile), BUT THERE WOULD HAVE TO BE AT LEAST AN OFFICIAL WORD FROM NOKIA that it would actually be possible.
The last thing I want to state is this – I don’t blame the technicians who created this phone, it could have been a hell of a gadget. I blame the product development, marketing and the business teams of nokia. Because god I swear I used to be a Nokia fan and supporter and I even defended N900...but what you’ve done releasing this phone could be called only a huge business cluster f**ck. You literally push people to buy smartphones elsewhere. Even though they don’t want to. Seems that the N97 nightmare wasn’t enough..
Switching to Android or even WM and Motorola, Samsung or HTC, even though I wanted to stay with Nokia.. but guys I at least need to read my work emails on my device.. with N900 it is not possible.

the emails... I really need to have total sync between my outlook and the phone.. I was expecting N900 as a high end -kind of work phone ..I'm talking about Exchange server - so even the web access we have has to go over VPN - and for that you need bunch of certificates.. and you're not able to get them for linux - that I'm sure..
so the exchange would be sollution..
    anyway
also the Digital compass and no AR
finally the OS thing.. strange how people are used to think..
look at this from a different point of view:
Nokia was one of the first companies in the world to start with mobile phones.. right?
They had huge share of market - right?
They have got years of experience and advantage in techological expertiese - right?
They start to loose pace with smartphones and had been loosing it ever since N98 8GB - right?
Now - they fail once again...creating a device, which should have been superior.. and the development probably cost huge amounts of money.. when they create a platofrm without continuity...which is replaced by incompatible system 6 months after release of N900
    - so the right answer is not.. well the others don't do it.. so we (Nokia) don't need to bother
    - the answer is We are in deep sh**t considering the smartphones market and we are loosing market share.. in an incredible fast pace.. we should do something about it - we should learn from other's mistakes - we should do things better..
and btw - with Android upgrade to upper version - is normal.. I know I know - it is not like maemo and meego.. but they're running tests of meego on N900.. anyway

  • Are you developing a Firefox version localized in the Maori language, the official language of New Zealand?

    Dear Sir or Madam,
There are more than eighty localized version of the Firefox at:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
There is even a Mozilla office in New Zealand at Level 7, 5 Short Street, Newmarket, Auckland 1023.
However, there is still no localized version in the Maori language.
Could you please advise when it is going to be released? Thank you in advance.
    Yours sincerely,
    Evgeny Shmelev

There are eight Universities in the country, and at least three _nga_whare_wananga_ (tribal universities), and most of them offer IT courses. Is it possible that the Mozilla Auckland office gets in touch with some of them and suggests the idea of Firefox localization? It is really unusual to see the browser localized in Aragonese, Breton, Frisian and even Kashubian languages but not in the _only_ official language of New Zealand. There is even a special Commission http://www.tetaurawhiri.govt.nz/english/ which deals with the language — can they be interested in localization, too?
