Developing a better electronic medical record

Hello All,
The kind folks in the other forum directed me to here, so I hope that this is the right place to pose this question:
I would like to see if there is an interest at Microsoft to develop an electronic medical records (EMR) program that would far surpass the current programs that are being used. At a recent medical staff meeting I was frustrated with the lack
of progress that has been made in this area. None of the current programs in use around the US are very good. They all have some small advantages but each has many draw backs and problems. EMR is being mandated by the medicare and medicaid
programs but no one has been able to produce a program that actually works. It feels as if we are stuck using a Commodore 64 in the age of the Surface Pro 3! Please help me to find out if Microsoft would be interested or willing to help create a better
system. Thanks for your help ahead of time, I just don't know where to start.

Unfortunately the Formscentral Database is not HIPAA compliant so we wouldn't recommend using it to store patient information. You certainly could design your form with formcentral and then distribute and collect PDF responses via email. If you look around this forum you will see others who have chosen to go the same route.

There already are some tools in the App Store (eg. My Medical - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-medical/id347860026?mt=8).
If you mean something that would interact directly with a Hospitals main system or such, I don't know of any. There are numerous companies now selling and setting up central records systems around the country, but I don't know of any that are working on companion patient tools yet.
Some charity and non-profit companies, like MedicAlert Foundation are working on such things and may have mobile apps on their radar, as funds allow them to develop such thing. MedicAlert already offers an EMIR service online, but no standalone mobile app for it yet (you manage it via their web portal).
Epocrates (owned by Athena Health) might also have something in the works, or at least an interest in such a thing.

Yes it is, you'll have to create a software training or assessment (or both, or even demo included within the same capture flow). And interactive objects, like click boxes/button/shape buttons (used to register a click), Text Entry boxes (used to let user enter text) can be assessed and scored. It doesn't look like a quiz (adding questions is also possible) but can be evaluated.
One example: I was a teacher and did teach MS Project. Most of my course consisted of Interactive tutorials and self-tests, both created with Captivate.

I got my iPad in hope of having a better way of storing and taking with me my families medical records. It could be a lot easier then carrying my laptop. Dose anyone have an idea what app or program I might need to do this?

A company called medtronic (Founded by the guy who invented Pacemakers) Has come up with some apps for their medical staff. Not sure if these are on App Store though.
If you have an easy to convert format, you could try one of the iWork apps.
But.. Unless you really, really trust yourself with your iPad, not a good idea. You won't be able to password protect anything other than the passcode to unlock the device, which will leave your family's medical history vulnerable should Dr.Bad (Insert generic bad guys name here) get hold of your device.

Mac compatible electronic health records software

You've posted in the forum for Apple's defunct productivity suite 'Appleworks'. Ironically, this might have been suitable for you, but as it's no longer sold or supported by Apple, and won't run at all on Lion or Mountain Lion, it would be a bad choice even if you could find a copy.
What you need is a database program. While there are several available for Mac, there are really only two practical contenders, both made by FileMaker.
Bento is a simple and easy to use database; it has a variety of templates and you can set up fields as required; however it is limited, and also very week on printable reports or configurable layouts.
Filemaker Pro is pretty well the industry standard - you can do just about anything with it, but its expensive, and has a steep learning curve.
Both are available in trial form, so you could play about and see whether either is suitable - Bento would probably be OK, and isn't expensive.

How do you get a new iMac with AppleCare so that you don't have to return the old hard drive if the hard drive ever needs to be replaced?... so that you can protect or destroy the old hard drive yourself in accord with HIPAA Health Information and Privacy Act Accountability http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/understanding/index.html to protect medical records.
Even demagnetized a hard drive can't be protected from advanaced data recovery methods once it's out of your hands.
When a car part is replaced you ask for the old part.

I think what you are asking is if your HD needs replacement under AppleCare can you keep the old drive to protect the data on it. Is that correct?
If you need to have a HD replaced under AppleCare then you should ask the AASP and request it back. However they are not obligated to do so under the Terms and Conditions of AppleCare that states:
*"The products or parts that are replaced become Appleʼs property."*

If you cannot agree to this then you should self insure to protect the integrity of the HD. Then if a HD needs replacement you have the right to demand the old HD back as it's your property.

Electronic batch Record

Hi Experts,
                I have configured all the setting required for Electronic batch Record, & when i am trying to approve the batch record its gives me an error as Inspection lot status is not LOLK. UD & ICCO which is correct,
But when go to the Inspection lot & try to do the UD of the batch after result recording system give me message as APPROVE BATCH RECORD FIRST

This error occurred
If the 'Approved batch record required' indicator is set in the material master,
Batch release with inspection lot from goods receipt for a process order (origin 04) is possible, providing that the batch record exists and it has already been approved.
      See error message:
      Create and approve batch record first (EBR015) or
      approve batch record first (EBR016)

Cannot find Avitek Medical Record

I'm looking for samples and keep pumping into references to the Avitek Medical Record application. Is there a version for WebLogic 10.3.1? Documentation in a couple of places (including version 9.2 as shown here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/samples.html indicates 'Avitek Medical Records is available from the Start menu on Windows machines.' Where exactly is this? I don't see anything under Start / Programs / Oracle Weblogic.
Also, Where are the API examples? Same documentation indicates 'WebLogic Server 9.2 optionally installs API code examples in WL_HOME\samples\server\examples\src\examples, where WL_HOME is the top-level directory of your WebLogic Server installation'. I cannot find these samples either.

Ok. I understand exactly the issue and been there a month back. Basically when we install weblogic 10.3 from installer, we choose Typical option. This "Typical" option DO NOT load or install the Samples. At the time of installation choose Custom option and check the check box for SAMPLES. This installs all the samples at the location that you mentioned already.
NOW, since you have already installed weblogic, still there is no problem. If you have the installer for weblogic (or get from oracle site), run the installer. Choose the same bea home where you installed existing wls, then choose Custom mode. Install the Samples. And you should be all set.
Under Start -> Programs -> .. -> .. ->.....you should see new short cuts for start, stop samples server, Med Record server etc etc.
I did this same a month ago, and now I have all samples for Weblogic Portal, Server and Workshop.

Unable to send medical records using direct id

I was able to send the medical records from healthvault to a direct id [email protected] few months back. But now when i try to send it using messagecenter it errors out as Sorry,
you can't send Direct messages to the following recipients: [email protected]

Hi,
The first thing you should do is find out if the doctor is still accepting incoming Direct messages. Typically, that error message would mean that the address won't accept incoming Direct messages from patients, even if they may send outgoing messages.

browser-based PI Sheet usage isn't a prerequisite for EBR usage. EBR conten is defined via document profiles. See als SAP IMG path: Production planning for Process Industries -> Process Data Documentation -> Batch Record -> Contents and Layout

Have the Tutorials and the Architecture Guide for Avitek Medical Records been updated
for version 1.1 as well? I'm only able to find it for the previous 1.0 version.

By now most people have heard about JPP's injury due to fireworks and now today Adam Schefter releases his medical records and what looks like a screen shot of a surgery queue screen. Here is the link to the picture on facebook.Facebook LinkFrom the looks of it someone took the pictures of this with their phone. I'm guessing a hospital worker. Now I can only imagine the world of hurt that hospital is going to be in tomorrow. It's just crazy to think how any of us that do medical IT bust our butts to cover from breaches and all it takes is one rouge employee to make you feel like it was all for not.

Basic home electronic music recording setup?

Hey guys, I decided I want to start recording electronic music, not necessarily professional, but I want to create electronic music similar to Deadmau5, Tiesto, and Skrillex. It doesn't have to be limited to progressive house or dubstep.
ANYWAYS, here's what I have so far, equipment and software wise:
-Macbook pro
-Logic Pro 9
and that's it. I need to know what the bare essentials are I should buy, for instance I know i need a MIDI keyboard, I am looking at a keystation 61es for about $100 on craigslist, nothing special. Is there anything else I need, either hardware or software wise? Also, would logic pro 9 be my best bet for recording progressive house music, or is there something more practical?!

You can buy any music software on the market.
It really doesn't matter.
The thing that makes good (or bad) music is you. The tools are just tools. If you have it in you, you'll get it out no matter what you use.
There's actually a good argument for the process of denying yourself the typical devices used to create media of your favorite genre. If you do that, it will force you to innovate and, hence, be more creative than your peers.
