I was looking for answers to the following questions and could not find them on the oracle website :
1)How (for developers) to set up an account on the oracle cloud.
2)Extensive outline of billing & price plans.
3)Example (for developers) of setting up an application (in one programming language or the other).
4)What virtual servers can be run on the cloud.

to what do you refer if you state the Oracle cloud? Lot of people do refer to other things if they state the Oracle Cloud.

Does anyone know if the theme used on this page (https://cloud.oracle.com/mycloud/f?p=service:home:0) is just internally available to Oracle developers or is it available for use OUTSIDE oracle? I have a few clients who would like to use it and don't want to go through building it from scratch..

Hi Tony,
The look and feel / theme of the Oracle Cloud website is not distributed; it is a highly customized UI developed exclusively for the Oracle Cloud.
If you would like a similar look and feel, I would recommend using Theme 24 in APEX 4.1.1 or trying out Theme 25 and 26 in APEX 4.2 on apex.oracle.com.

How to wrap a package body in the Oracle Cloud

Does anyone know if it is possible to wrap a PL/SQL package body in the Oracle Cloud? I tried to wrap it on my local machine and then upload it but when I ran it, it said the wrapped package was corrupt. DBMS_DDL is a lot of extra work and only works for packages <= 32K. Is there any other way to do this?
Maybe in the SQL Workshop, upload script section, there could be an option to wrap code when you run it?

Thanks for the quick response. I used the SQL Workshop, script upload function (in Apex) to upload a package that I wrapped on my pc (Windows 7) using the wrap command line utility (11g). It uploaded fine but when I tried to run it, it returned a message like "Wrapped code is invalid or corrupted". This was not what I would have expected since I know you can import/export wrapped code between systems (different OS) without issue. Perhaps the command line wrap is OS specific and the import/export is doing some kind of translation?
Anyway, I know you cannot use the command line option directly in the cloud because, as you say, you don't have access to the command line. DBMS_DDL is too tedious to use and has the 32K limit and unfortunately, there is no command like, "Alter package body xxx compile wrapped". So that leaves using the SQL Developer Cart option to move wrapped code from a local db to the cloud db. Unfortunately, I'm still having roles and permissions issues with my account which Oracle Support hasn't been able to fix over the last few weeks so I can't try this option (or even login using SQL Dev). Has anyone tried to do this? Does anyone know of another way to do this that I'm not thinking of?

The application runs queries to fetch data from database in SQL server 2008, and for that I am using a Microsoft SQL Native Client 2008 R2 64 bit ( this is the only version that installs on either PC, even the one on which I developed my LV Application).
I am not using any driver, only toolkits for reports - and for that I un-checked the "Remove unused polymorphic VI instances" when making the executable, otherwise LV throws up an exception that share variable are not being included.
Yes I did reboot every time after I ran the installation.
Still getting the same error.

You can write j2EE application for all this enviroments. The code is the same, with little diferences in the applicantion servers configuration files.

Error when installing 9.0.1.4.0 patch set for the Oracle Database Server.

Hi to all.
Currently, i am trying to install patches for portal server.
The server OS is Sun Solaris 8.
We are using Oracle9iAS.
Now, we are installing 9.0.1.4.0 patch set for the Oracle Database Server.
We managed to install the patch, but have problem with the Post Install Action.
We managed to run
-ALTER SYSTEM ENABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;
-@rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
-ALTER SYSTEM DISABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;
-CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
-update obj$ set status=5 where type#=29 and owner#!=0;
-commit;
But, when we come to the next command, which is to shutdown, it gives us like
this..
SQL> update obj$ set status=5 where type#=29 and owner#!=0;
1402 rows updated.
SQL> commit;
Commit complete.
SQL> shutdown immediate
Database closed.
Database dismounted.
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only
We tried to startup the database..it gives us this error..
SQL> startup
ORA-01081: cannot start already-running ORACLE - shut it down first
So, we tried to shutdown again..
SQL> shutdown immediate
ORA-01089: immediate shutdown in progress - no operations are permitted
I been informed that this is maybe a Database problem related. Any ideas?

I'm trying to sign up for the photography creative cloud with lightroom 5 and photoshop. When I click on the "buy" button is takes me to the payment page, but my country changes from the U.S. to Argentina and the language changes also.
I've tried contacting Adobe, but they're ways of contacting them are a pain in the ***. The chat doesn't work and I'm on hold forever when I call.

It is failing with Agent Configuration failed, please see below error message.

Looks like , J2EE is having a problem connecting to the DB.Pls. chk. the following
-If you have configured the loop-back adapter , if installing on a local system & updated the /etc/host file with your ip address and host name.
or if the system is part of some n/w group and has ip address assigned ?
-Jdk 1.4 version is installed in your system
-Enough free Disk space available in the system
-How much RAM your system has which windows version you are using ?
-Is the DB is coming up properly ? its error related to this. check the logs.
-If the ports used by sap install / run used by other services running on the system ? & user have admin. privileges on the system .
Pls. update with your findings on above same , for the step next ...

I'm looking for the Oracle equivalent of T-SQL 'SELECT TOP n'
and can't find any. There is SAMPLE(n) function but it supposed
to pick up random values and I'm not sure if it's possible to

Oracle does not have a functionality like SQL Server for TOP
selection. The ROWNUM option should be used with great care and
you may get unreliable results.

Changed Ulimits values for the Oracle user and getting error -bash: ulimit: max user processes: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted when logging in.

I'm trying to increate the ulimits for max user processes and open files for the oracle user. I've set the values in limits.conf, /etc/profile and in oracle's environment scripts. Now when I log in as oracle I get the below errors. If I change the ulimits back to the original values errors go away but ulimits aren't changed.

I modified the /etc/security/limits.d/90-nproc.conf and added a line for oracle and also modifed the oracle.sh file. The ulimits are setting correctly when I su - oracle but they are still wrong when sshing in as oracle.

I want implement Single Sign-On support for the Oracle E-Business suite.
Operationg System : linux/Solaris
Oracle E-Business suite : 11.5.10
Oracle Application Server : 10gAS(latest availble)
Type of integration : SSO and OID with 11i
No third party SSO or LDAP
Qusetions
1.If my SSO Server is down can i login to applications(11i) using normal mode(default login http://servername.xxxx.com:8000/).
2. Is it possible to have appilications (11i) in Linux/Solaris and 10gAS in windows.
Please answer...

You couldn't login into server But You can use the following login
http://servername.xxxx.com:8000/AppsLocalLogin.jsp
For this you need to enable the Appslocallogin Profile option

I keep getting the trial versions after I've paid for the Creative Cloud service.

I'm currently paying for the creative cloud service and I've downloaded a few of the programs (Indesign, Incopy, Photoshop, Illustrator) but when I open them they are coming up as trial versions. I uninstall the ones that were the trial version and reinstall them and I keep getting the trial version, What should do to fix this problem?
