Development Advise

Greetings,
If this is in the wrong forum then please redirect me to the appropriate one. I am about to start help develop an application that will be in effect a web application running on 10gAS. We will also eventually have some wireless devices and use things like portal for dashboard type development etc. The people that are sponsoring the project have a little bit of technical knowledge. They are excited by BPEL and are thinking that this can reduce the amount of java code that we will need to write. They seem to think that we can draw the process out in BPEL and then just get "the system" to create a user interface. I dont think this is the case, BPEL is a tool that we can create the business flow with, but we will still need to create the surrounding interface using ADF or something simular.
Is this correct ? BPEL is not a solution for application development, but something to aid the development of a business process.

OK with modplsql that is just creating procedures that output html yes ?
I will look at J2EE. As I am experienced at JSP and STRUTS I think this might be the best way to go (with a little bit of portal stuff to make it pretty).

Wire Worm Plug-in and Photoshop CS6 64bit installation on a Win 7 64b

I think I didn't install the 32 bit version from the DVD and thinking this is a 64bit machine I only opted for the 64bit version of Photoshop CS6. Now the weired thing is it installed in the Program Files folder and not in the Program Files (x86) folder, I didn't change any default destination given by the installer. The about screen of the application shows a 64bit version of the Photoshop. Now the problem is I want my Wire Worm plug-in to work in Photoshop, developer advises to launch 32 bit version to make it work and deploy the plug-in in the respective plug-in folder in the program files. What to do?
This is a 64bit Windows 7 machine with an Intel i7-3940XM Processor and 32Gs of RAM

It seems you did not installed PS 32 bit, Please install it from the Disc again and verify Program Files (x86) folder, it should be there after successful installation.

Printing to pdf when running Windows in Boot Camp

I have reluctantly installed Windows 7 on my Macbook Air (1.7 GHz, Core i5, 4 GB, OS 10.8.2). I run a simulation program which produces a report for printout. I would like to have the option of printing to pdf so that I can select pages for printing, change print quality and print additional copies of selected pages from the report.
The software developer advises using PrimoPDF. Is it possible to select this as the default printer in Windows so that the program prints to PrimoPDF automatically?

Error "FZ003" in Payment Proposals

Hi,
I am working on this for the past 24hours...no solution till now
During Payment run process when i tried to generate proposal., Status shows that Proposal has been created.
When I want to view the proposal. I am facing with the following error.
"Company codes ABCD/ABCD do not appear in proposal 07/06/2011 ABCD1; correct
Message no. FZ003"
I checked all the details in FBZP, FK02 also checked if any proposals in REGUH. The payment method used "C" and required configuration has been done accordingly.
Let me know if there are anything else I need to take care.

By system design, there are only 2 lines available for values in free selection for the payment program via trans F110, i.e., up to 8 document numbers. The Developer advised that free selection works like an SQL statement with conditional operator 'AND'. Using more than 8 document numbers will create multiple includes for the document (BELNR) field and will not work because the SQL translation would be:
SELECT * FROM BKPF WHERE BELNR = '1111111111' AND BELNR = '2222222222' AND BELNR = '3333333333'.
As an option you could define BELNR explicitly in the first selection, e.g., BELNR IN ('1111111111','3333333333'). In this
case, a range '1' thru '3' is defined. This would be followed by an exclude in the next selection, e.g., BELNR = '2222222222'. This way in the second line you could exclude the document numbers you do not want.
Therefore, it is is possible only with using intervals.
Please check the payment proposal with new free selection.
Free selection should be used...
1. For trouble shooting F110 (proposal run) behavior.
2. In exceptional cases where in you wanted to carry out exclusions and inclusions.
Exceptions cannot be too many, purpose of payment run program F110 is to pay as many open items possible which are due for payment. Please review 'F1' help to restrict documents in ranges.
Workaround solution:
Also should customer want to exclude too many documents from payment run, please ask customer to set payment block in mass.
1. Run vendor / cusotmer line items display report FBL1N / FBL5N respectively.
2. Select the documents you want to exclude from payment run.
3. Click on "Mass Change" (CtrlShiftF9) button on tool bar.
4. Set the payment block.

The SAP developer advised that 1099-DIV reporting is not supported and there
are no plans to do so. You may wish to submit a Development Request to
include this functionality in a future R/3 release. Please find
information in service marketplace under alias /rollin.
Or else please use the your own development
Sap recommends the use of report RFIDYYWT for releases as of 4.7.
Please see note 670404 for further details.
Please notice that RFW1099M is the old program for 1099 reporting.
You should be using RFIDYYWT from release 4.7 and up. Unfortunately,
you will not find any correction note for RFW1099M for your release.

RH7 Files Modified in Earlier Version Create Problems

Hi. I'm a new and not very proficient RH user developing my
first project in RH7. I was asked to take over a project started by
someone else (in RH5x, I think). I brought the files into RH7 and
continued development, no problem. At a certain point I sent a copy
of my files back to the app developer for his review. When he sent
them back to me, he'd modified them in the old version of RH. Now,
I seem to have two issues I can't figure out:
1) All my topics have little red boxes (which seem to be
placeholders for scripts) at the beginning, end, and associated
with some links. They apparently are related to breadcrumbing: when
I generate the layout, the topic pages show duplicate breadcrumbs.
I deleted them all, but when I generate the layout, they come back.
2) I have multiple custom .css files which appear to be
auto-generating from my original somehow. I didn't create them, and
neither did the app developer when he messed with the files. They
have the same file name as my original .css, but with characters
appended, like_ns and _ns_nc. I went through every topic and
reapplied my original .css, but the weird styles keep coming back.
Appreciate any help or insight as to how to get rid of these
problems. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
What your developer has done is edit the output files rather
than the source files. Because of the version differences he would
not have been able to edit the source files. I wonder if you gave
him those anyway or just the output?
Regardless you are where you are. I do hope you have a backup
of the project from before you copied the edited output files back
into the source. It will be easier to start from there and have
your developer advise the changes by some other means. Otherwise
you have a bit of an unholy mess to sort out.
There is a way of cleaning up the output files if you really
have to but given your experience level, you may not want to go
there. If you have no choice, then Rick Stone's site has an
excellent article on the matter and I can let you have the link
later. Not to hand right now.
When you generate your output, RH, creates two versions of
the CSS, one for IE, and one for Firefox, that is the ns one you
are seeing.
Your source project CSS should be the only one you need.

Interested in selling photos

We recently decided to explore our options for selling photos on our own in addition to selling through stock agencies. Wondering if anyone knows of simple ways to create a site for selling our photos. We were hoping to do it through Aperture and our .mac account, but reading the manual and an Aperture book, it doesn't seem to be so cut and dry. Anyone have ideas on how to create our own archive through which we can sell our photos? Thanks!

I thought I'd suggest the easiest way to accomplish "e commerce" by utilizing any of the sites that are set up to do that already. To do the same on your own website, you'll need some serious development advise, then more advise on how to market the site. It's similar to what I've been trying to do for ever...sell my music on the web. Anyone can make a website, but how do people find it that want to purchase. I eventually went with a commercial site, http://cdbaby.com/ But, even then, you are still one of thousands of offerings in your field. It comes back the 'ole, "how do I make it?" How do I become successful? ...whoa, I think I've wandered off topic.
Something I really like is Rapidweaver, and I think the info available from their support people and their user forum probably have instruction on how to add e commerce to your site. It's basically an iWeb app on steroids (to use that "overused" phrase). I think it offers so much more in terms of customization potential than iWeb.

Why doesn't Flash have the option to publish to .flv?

Why doesn't Flash or Adobe Media Encoder have the option to publish or covert .swf to .flv?

Thanks, kowboy. I've just seen a few of those video conversion tools that specifically advertise .swf to .flv conversion. They may degrade the quality and make certain features not work just like when you convert to .avi. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of those tools.
I know this is a fairly odd situation. Both myself and the other flash developer advised that they not use Flash to create 5 min plus videos and then wrap them in .flv flash players.

PowerPC code ok in Leopard?

When I was troubleshooting a problem on my new Intel iMac running 10.5.1, a software developer advised me to remove all plugins and startup items which were written in PowerPC code. Now I see that my supposedly Leopard-compatible version of Retrospect Express v6.1 introduces an always-on process called Retrorun which shows up as PowerPC in Activity Monitor. I gather it is needed to perform scheduled backps but I'm wondering if I should uninstall as it's the only code running on my machine which isn't of the Intel kind.

There's no problem running PPC code in Leopard, per se, but there are some caveats. Obviously, any PPC code must run in "Rosetta," and it will run slower than it would on a PPC machine. Plug-ins can be a serious problem if they are linked to an Intel application; in some cases they will crash or lock the application, in others they simply won't work.
"Startup Items" are not strictly a serious problem. The proof is in the pudding. If an application installs a PPC component in your startup or login items, and it doesn't seem to cause a problem...... it doesn't cause a problem.
If Retrospect claims to be Leopard-compatible, and it is working for you, I see no need to change anything.

Need advise on SQL,plsql developer career and future

I need all your advise in making an important decisions of my career path.I work in the IT field and have about total 4-5 years of work experience involving development and testing in a product based organization.
Presently-i have got chance since last 4-5 months to work with writing PLSQL code,SQL etc on a part basis. I am very much interested to continue my career path as a PLSQL developer.
But, unfortunately -in the total of my work experience-in the past 2-3 years-i worked with a internally developed DB query language(similar to SQL) and then from last few months with plsql. But this chance to work with PLSQL has been for less time and limited scope after which i will have to work on something different.
Ii want to fully take on my career in SQL,PLSQL as Database Developer.
Please advise me if my thinking seems logical and good and if I could do it. I have planned on applying for relevant SQL,PLSQL profile jobs.
Now, My serious worry and concern is I feel that since i have worked very less with PLSQL-so am low in confidence that I feel i wont be able to answer ,or tell or not knowledgeable enough to be able to clear the technical interviews for SQL,plsql development profile which would need at least some years of experience.
I have started studying and practsing PLSQL,sql by myself for from internet. So, can you all please advise me on how could i prepare myself for hard core technical interviews of SQL,PLSQL knowledge for about 2-3 years expertise.
I know its not much possible to be competent so much in the subject by just studying and practicing.Its easy as saying to study and get it by myself-but i want to try and will put my best for it.
Please help me with your inputs,all interview questions,hard ones-suggestions,links,any study materials, real time problems which i can try solving of SQL, PLSQL development.

This is an indication that Lightroom is not connected to your subscription. Verify that your are logged into the Creative Cloud desktop app, or try logging out and back in again to refresh your subscription information: Sign out, Sign in | Creative Cloud Desktop app.
Also, verify that your student subscription is still current and active.

I'm not sure what "Mail Update for Mac OS X 10.5.6" is. Mac OS X 10.5.6 is Leopard, a system that is quite old at this point. There have not been any Mail updates for Leopard in quite some time. If you are trying to install some old Mail update for Mac OS X 10.5.6 in Mavericks, that won't work.
If you are trying to install the Mavericks Mail update manually, that's not necessary if you have updated through the App Store. If the App Store shows no updates, you don't need this. (The error message doesn't make sense, and may indicate some other problem with your system, assuming that you were downloading this update from Apple's site.)
I'd advise you to start a new topic in the Mavericks forum and describe the problems you are having with Mail. Be sure to include specifics, but try to avoid speculating on causes, as responses that may be related to an inaccurate assumption on your part can cloud the issue.

Database development practise advise

I am a fresher in the Development field..coming straight from college and certified in Oracle SQL so far, currently working on Pl/sql certification. I want to practise Quality industry Database Development as well as getting the experience that is required. Please help me with advise on what I should use as sample cases to work on or any other advise you can have. I have oracle 11G software installed on my machine.

I think besides the options told by Srini an Andy, reading the below book at this stage especially would be very helpful because it would be very tough to unlearn the wrong habits once you would come into the field.

This is my serious concern.
I am an ABAPer with 4+ years of experience.
I am from IT background also. I would like to know what is the basic requirement to learn EP (Development)?
Is Java required? If so, is it J2EE and which version of it?
Also what else, apart from this I should know to become a successful consultant in EP (seen enough of ABAP).
