Development Effort- for a forum like SDN

Hi,
Can you tell me how much effort is required to create a forum like SDN, using EP.
I want to implement only basic features like posting queries/replies, displaying it as a thread,
awarding points, displaying user data.
What are the constraints, if attachment (word doc) also has to be included in the same thread ?
Any kind of inputs will be highly appreciated.

Instead of developing,you can use SAP standard forum features... you can find lot of info on SDN regarding this

Suggestion for new Forum - Software Quality Assurance & Testing

Hi - I'm active in ASUG and a SIG Chair for Software Quality Assurance SIG. I'm new to SDN and looked around a bit for where topics related to Software QA, Testing, Test tools & methodologies, etc. would be posted and discussed. I haven't found any relevant forums. A couple postings on SAP TAO (test tool) landed in the Solution Manager forum... looks like they were searching for a relevant home too.
We have good content and discussions on these topics on asug.com and I'd like to facilitate bringing some of these topics to the larger SDN community. I started a blog, we sponsor webinars, etc. What would you think of having a forum on SDN called Software Quality Assurance & Testing? Or are there other suggestions for where I would start discussing this? Maybe the forum's out there already but I just can't find it?

Currently the security aspects of good software development don't have a real home either, and are distributed over SCN in a rather thin and adhoc fasion by a few folks.
I am sure that such a forum would attract a lot of new attention to SCN on the customer side, as it is important for them.
It would also be irrefutable that the SCN Rules of Engagement are applied strictly to such a forum

Netweaver Development Studio for EP 6 on NW 04 (SP9)

I am looking for where the components of the SAP NetWeaver Development Studio for EP6 Stack 9 (soon to be 11) are located. I would also like to find out where the installation guides for the components are located too.
I have looked in the forums and found others have had this problem but the links supplied were either to other forum threads leading to other forum threads, etc OR they were links to pages or locations in SDN or Service Marketplace that do not exist and have no re-direct.

Development environment for SharePoint 2013

Hi,
We have requirement for one of the project. Team size would be approximately 30 resources. Development would be entirely for SharePoint 2013 Intranet solution. this will be OOTB Intranet application. We will be developing InfoPath forms and Nintex Workflows.
For such requirement we would like to setup local development environment by using either Virtual Machines.
Can anyone help me to identify that how many VM's would be required for the same? How many simultaneous users can use and work at a time? What other things I need to consider for infrastructure? How can i suggest the best possible solution for this.

Please check the following similar post suggested that each developer could deploy his dll file to each separated web application bin folder by setting Visual Studio property "Assembly Deployment Target" to "Web Application".

How to get Oracle Developer 2000 for Windows

Hi all,
I have some fmx and rep developed by "Oracle Developer 2000 for Windows" product. I can not run this fmx because of I dont have "Oracle Developer 2000 for Windows" product. I look up download.oracle.com to download but I dont find this product. How can I download or How can I run these fmx and reps?

Then you're pretty much out of luck. Your only option then is to ask Oracle Support, if they have a copy of "Developer 2000" (Forms 5.0), as you will need the Forms runtime for this version - but chances are pretty small. I just wonder, how you only can have the compiled files and not the source files... and there's no way to decompile an FMX back to an FMB. You can't get the source files somehow?
You know, that you're asking for something, which is very very old... it's like asking for a copy of Windows 95... on floppy disks....
It's more than 10 years ago, my company upgraded from Forms 5, and I don't think we have a copy of the installation media any longer. If Oracle Support can't provide you with a set of installation media, you might be lucky, that some user on this forum has a copy of it and will send it to you - but the chances of that is also pretty small, I'd say.... and in any case it will be completely unsupported, you're all on your own.
If I were you, I'd consider getting the application in question completely rewritten instead of trying to use those old FMX's for anything.

Getting started in Developing extensions for Dreamweaver CC

i'm looking for info on how to get started developing extensions for DW CC. Specifically:
1. guides, tutorials
2. API reference
What i'm looking to be able to do is, among others:
1. add elements for inserting into the "insert" panel/menu
2. add panels.
3. be able to drag elements from that panel into the design
4. be able to identify tags in the web page as special tags. like how jquery UI tags are identified and have this little hovering label
5. be able to develop specialized property views for special tags. like how jquery ui tags have special properties, once i pressed that little hovering label thing.
One question that answering can really help - can say the guides for CS5 be a good starting point, and from there figure out what to do via the extendscript toolkit?

Also there are two great books: Dreamweaver MX Extensions by Laura Gutman and Building Dreamweaver 4 & UltraDev 4 Extensions by Tom Muck and Ray West. I believe you may read free chapters online in places such Safari library or Google books.
The books are old, you have to understand and adapt for the new versions, but in essence everything stays the same.

I think having a pre-packaged VMWare machine running on Windows or Linux would be great as it would help a lot of the non-Basis consultants get a system up and running. Perhaps even offer it as an AMI package on AWS so that hardware is not an issue.
I'd also like to see the traditional installation packages offered as many technical consultants use the build as a process to look at installation issue and post installation configuration.
I think both the pre-built and build it from scratch approaches have an audience here on SDN and I'd like to see both being offered.
In fact I'm just looking at the new license options one of which come with the DVD's which is ideal but at a price!

Estimation efforts for interfaces

As I am XI beginner, I would like to know about these.
1.   How can we estimate the efforts for the interfaces need to develop? Like..
-   How many man-days will take to complete the interface in real time.
-   On what criteria xi team will classify the interfaces.
2. How to do the testing of the interfaces? How to validate the data in XI, during any testing of interfaces?
3. How can we check the performance of the XI interfaces developed? What are the parameters to assess the performance?
Can some one please answer my doubts?

First of all XI is a middleware not a testing tool so efforts must be taken to perform validations outside XI(e.g. in the system generating sender file).Now comin to ur questions

When u get the functional specification/technical specification u get the test data and the expected output along with it,and u have to use that test data to test ur scenarios.by comparing theexpected output and the actual output u can make sure that ur scenario is giving the desired result.

first of all u should test whether ur scenario is giving the desired result or not ,after that u can look for performance under the performance monitoring in RWB,u may also check component monitoring under RWB.
>>what are the inputs need to test
you get the inputs along with the FS/TS(it depends a lot upon the sender interface,if its an IDOC u post IDOC from R/3 and test ur scenario,if its a File u place the file in sender directory and test etc.)
>>how to validate the tested data is correct or not
u compare the expected output to the actual output and see if ur scenario is doin wats expected outta it.
most of things in XI are interface specific so if u can specify what are ur interfaces ,we would be able to help u more

I had the developer preview installed. Never had to update to the release version of the OS. Now, the preview has expired, and I cannot use my phone because my iTunes reads my OS as being current, but my iPhone cannot active. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

If I Google for Michael Superczynski, first match tells "Michael Superczynski's Profile : Apple Support Communities". It in fact does a lot of work there even if not paid.
And yes we do not have disagreement about "official apple developers". Problem is that Apple screwed our devices because we are "official apple developers" and did effort to stop us getting proper help. I unbricked my ipad and iphone thanks to unofficial help. Thank you who wrote this unofficial help and "no thanks" for apple for ruining my access to my devices. My mistake was assuming that "update" button on my devices works. It did not because it always told "Your device has latest IOS6 installed" until it bricked yesterday.
If Apple does not want to listen us, continue do delete post, blame us installing your software and yes we stop buying your devices and developing for them.

Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 10 Technical Preview

Hi, I've never developed a plugin for Office before. I've downloaded the technical preview of Windows 10 and have it running via Boot Camp on my MacBook (Looks good! I'll buy it when it comes out). Obviously with this being in beta it's understandable that
there are problems, so this is just a heads up on one particular problem. Maybe there's already a solution or workaround?
I've downloaded Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition, brought a copy of Microsoft Office Home And Student 2013 and am currently in the process of installing Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013.
The only problem though is that when I try to install it I get the following message:

I also tried to download the file directly and run that.

I right clicked on the file and noticed an options called "Troubleshoot Compatibility". There was a wizard, and I ran through the wizard a number of times through different routes but none of them worked. I was unable to find the option which turned
off compatibility mode. I then searched for answers online which told me to do some things in the regedit program but that didn't seem to solve the problem.
Anyway, I understand that this is a beta version of Windows 10 and that there are going to be problems but thought it would be best to let you know. Perhaps I should just bite the bullet and buy Windows 8.

What are rules of etiquette for this forum?

I have posted a few basic questions in recent times about java programming issues. Right now I am using JBuilder2005. I am relatively new to the Java progarmming community, and I don't know if JB2005 is considered evil over say, WebSphere, Eclipse, etc. But responses I have received for my basic questions (which I ended up finding my own answers to) have been less than friendly.

While I'm at it I am trying to use a DataExpress control from JB2005 to connect to an Access Database (for practice - we have Oracle but I am practicing on Access). I select the driver
sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
then it asks for the URL, it gives me this option in the ...:
jdbc:odbc:MS Access Database
so where do I add the location of the mdb file? I can't get the control to connect. I can connect to Access if I just use code and read/insert rows of data, but I want to use a DataExpress TableDataSet control so I can load it up with rows of data from a database file in a client application. I can load up an html table of data in a servlet for display . But how can I display data the same way in a client app?
Is this forum even the correct forum for me to ask this question - or should I look for a Borland forum?

so where do I add the location of the mdb file? IYou don't. That's a mapping provided by the OS. Go to "System Controls" -> "Data Sources (ODBC)" or search the help for it if you don't find it, and set up the Access driver.
