Device backup location on a PC

I want to change the backup location on my PC.  According to the instructions, I just click on the file folder beside "Device backup location" and browse to the desired location, then click OK.  I do that, and everything responds normally, except the default location in BlackBerry Link is grayed out and does not change.  How do I REALLY change the default location???
Thanks...

Oops.  The location DID change.  What I can not get to change is the "Computer Import Folders"  There doesn't appear to be any choice for these folders.  I have a small SSD ("C") for the operating system and use my "D" drive for everything else.  BlackBerry Link defaults to the "C" drive and I need to change that.  Any help is appreciated.

Why can't I change the location of my device backups?
iTunes seems to force me to use my c:\ drive as the destination for all backups.
Background: I have set up my c:\ drive only for programs - all data is stored on separate drives - including my iTunes library and all media. So, I can't skinny down the c:\ drive any more without uninstalling programs.
The issue is that my 10,000 rpm, 280 GB - C:\ drive is fast but small and is now FULL after I got about 1/2 way through a 128 GB backup of my ipad.  (Yes, all movies have been deleted off of the iPad to minimize the size of the backup.)
I deleted the partial iPad backup, moved all the Mobile Applications to another drive, emptied the recycle bin and tried again with my much smaller iPhone.  You guessed it: the io7 update hung and both of my devices are now paper weights.
Which leaves me f*cked, anyone know how I can un-f myself?

iTunes movies are not part of an iDevice backup.
Videos & photos you take with the camera (in the Camera roll) are part of the backup but those should be sync'd to the computer and removed from the camera roll.

  • Disk Backup Location settings

    Hi all
    In EM I have set the Disk backup location setting to G:\Backup and in RMAN at the command line I can see that CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT 'G:\Backup\%U';
However when I run the command BACKUP DATABASE the backup is still generated in the Fast Recovery Area that it was originally set to.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

  • Ipad backup not listed in itunes device backups but is on drive

I am trying to help a friend who upgraded their iPad mini to iOS7 but lost all the notes.
They did a backup but it now not listed in itunes device backups but I fount the folder on the hard drive with 8 other listed backups.
How do I add the original backup into itunes and restore from it?
    Thanks anyone.
    Simon

    Hey Phantom42
Move them into folders that is listed below and iTunes should recognize it. Look in the Back up your backup sections to see the location.

  • Backup Location Not saved

    Hi,
    Running Desktop 7.1.0.32.
Desktop doesn't save change in backup location.
    I have tried the following:
    1) Changed the backup location under device options
    2) Changed the backup location under desktop options
    3) Changed the backup location via the registry.
Everytime I restart the desktop it returns to the default location.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA,
    Greg

    Hi there!
I can replicate this...that is a problem indeed! As a work around, I discovered that if you make the target folder change "on the fly" as you actually execute a backup, then the change is retained for future use. But, as you say, via any other means (though I decided not to edit my registry!!), the change is not saved between Desktop Software sessions.
I also discovered that, after you make the change in via 1 or 2 in your methods, then actually take a backup before shutting Desktop Software down, then the configuration change is likewise retained.
    Good luck!

  • HT1449 How do i move the device backup folders

Hi there, I now have my iTunes folder on an ext drive, which is great news. The bad news is that the device backup files are still on my HD taking up loads of space as i have now the 128GB iPad mini. is there another way i can moves these files as well, so when i back up the ipad it will back up to the EXT drive on the the local HD ?
    I have iTunes 11.1.3
    Thanx in advanv

    Relocate iOS device backups
Make a new folder called MobileSync at the root of the drive you want the backup data to live on, e.g. as D:\MobileSync
Use Windows Explorer to move current Backup folder at <SystemDrive>\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup into the folder you just made. If the backup folder is large this may take some time.
To make iTunes look for the data in the new location copy the text below, open a command prompt, right-click to paste in the command, edit the drive letter/path if needed, and then press <Enter>.
    MkLink /J "%AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\MobileSync\Backup"
If you want the backup elsewhere replace D:\MobileSync accordingly.
Note that while this method works for iOS device backups it cannot be used to redirect sections of the media library.
If you relocated your media by consolidating to a new path see Make a split library portable for steps to move the library files to your alternate location and put the library back into a portable shape ready for easy backup and the next move.

  • How can I use my Netgear R7000 AC router to store my i devices' backups?

    Hello
I just purchased a netgear r7000 AC router.
I have connected an external HD to the USB 3.0 port.
How can I use this HD to do my i devices backups instead of using iCloud?
    Thanks

You would have to backup using iTunes, not iCloud.  You might then be able to create a junction link to your new folder location as explained here: http://www.copytrans.net/support/how-to-change-itunes-backup-location/.  I haven't personally tried this but it looks like it should work, at least for a local drive.  Not sure about a network drive.
Edit: now that I look at the wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_junction_point), it says this only works on local drives, not networked drives.  If that's the case I doubt that this would be possible.

I'm also affected by this bug in exactly the same way as you.
Some users have had success by closing iTunes, enetering (on OS 10.9) settings --> network --> edit locations, then create a new location with the same wifi/network settings. Then restarting iTunes.
Others have had some success by editing settings --> iCloud --> de-selecting keychain
neither of these fixes have worked for me.
It appears that the iPad can "see" iTunes running on my iMac because when I open settings --> general --> 'iTunes wifi sync', "sync now" is greyed out if iTunes is not running. When iTunes is started, "sync now" is enabled but just doesn't work. Nor does the iPad appear in iTunes.

  • Mobile stolen and I want to turn off the device and locate it

    heelp me :
Mobile stolen and I want to turn off the device and locate it

If you set up the Find My iPhone service prior to your iPhone going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors: the iPhone is turned on, connected to either the 3G or a WiFi network, or has not had the Find My iPhone service disabled or the iPhone been completely restored. Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. If you did not set up Find My iPhone, check with your cell carrier. Some carriers offer their own tracking service, though you usually have to sign up when you still have the phone and have to pay for the service.
If your carrier does not offer such a service and you did not set up Find My iPhone, then there is no way to track the unit. Notify the police and your cell carrier, and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPhone (the iTunes Store, for instance).
    Regards.
