Creating Device Categories in IS-U
Procedure
1. Choose Utilities industry >> Device management >> Technology >> Device category >> Create.
You branch to the initial screen for creating device categories.
2. Enter the required data and choose a basic device category to be allocated to the device category. Chose Continue.
- If a material exists for the device category specified, you branch to the screen Create Device Category: General Data. Go to step 3.
- If no material exists for the device category specified, the Create MM Material dialog box appears.
Here you can create a material in MM in the background. Processing is then continued on the next screen for device category maintenance.
3. Enter further data for the device category and if necessary add additional basic device categories. Save your data.
You branch to the initial screen for creating device categories.
Result
The device category was created in IS-U. In addition, a material master was created in the background.
If you want to use all of the MM functions available, you must extend the material master you created in IS-U in MM.

  • HP Envy dv4 Windows 8- HP TrueVision HD Webcam not working or showing up in device manager

The subject is fairly self explanatory, I am using a HP Envy dv4 on Windows 8 and trying to use the 'HP TrueVision HD ' Webcam which is not working. When I went to find it in the device manager it was not present. I have restarted my computer already.
    Thanks

    Hey @kleinhansjy ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the webcam in your ENVY dv4 notebook is not working.
Can you tell me if the webcam worked previously, has never worked, or stopped working after updating to Windows 8 (if the notebook did not come with Windows 8 pre-installed).
It would also help to know which exact notebook model you have. For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
While I await your answers please try following these troubleshooting guides:

Some of the steps may not apply if the webcam is not detected in Device Manager. You may need to show the hidden devices by clicking View > Show hidden devices. You might find the webcam is listed as an Unknown device in the Other devices category.
I look forward to your reply!

  • Weird acting in Device Manager

So my previous post didn't bear much fruit, but hopefully this new info i discovered can help solving my problem.
Here's my situation. I'm using this Iphone 3g for the first time, meaning i need to connect to Itunes in order to activate it. Unfortunately, Itunes won't recognize my device. I've followed every step in the troubleshooting so far, but now i'm stuck in this part where it asks me to find the listing for Apple iPhone in the Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers or Portable Devices, in order to update its drivers. I've searched everywhere in the device manager to find something resembling what i'm searching for, yet i found nothing.
Here's what i just discovered. I tried replugging the phone, when suddenly this tree category "Other Devices+ Iphone" appeared for a few seconds, but shortly after vanished again. I've reacted quickly to right click and update its drivers, only to see it close down again.
Am i having some kind of connection problem here?

You were right about one thing, and that is that i didn't have the latest logitech software installed. A shame this tree still disappears shortly after i plug the phone in. I'm using the rear ports exclusively now, and i've plugged it in without my mouse, just to see if anything happened. Nothing. The mouse wasn't the cause to this issue i'm afraid.
    Any other suggestions?

  • New ATA channel with an exclamation point appear in the device manager at each start (when no new device has been installed)

    Good morning,
My desktop, (Win7 64, AMD cpu/ Gigabyte mother board) , started to generate strange problems such as my laser usb printer not reachable even after disinstal/reinstall.
I took a look in the device manager, and found 2 ATA channel with an exclamation point, "drivers not found'. I also found a USB universal controller with the same exclamation point and the same error.
I changed nothing in terms of Bios since the machine was built (AHCI, Raid not active). The main drive is a SSD on primary SATA port, classic drive on the second port.
I deleted the 3 items, the printer started to work again.  They reappeared after the next reboot.
Weird thing: it looks like the problems appeared after connecting/disconnecting a Nikon camera to one of the usb port (identified as a mass storage device).
I ran multiple scans (root) in case a virus would have generated the problem, negative.
Last point (can't tell if it's related or not), my browsers started crashing randomly.
    Thank you

    Hi,
I'd ask your question in the Windows forums here:

Or perhaps over in the Win7 IT Pro forum here, since you seem fairly comfortable:

  • My internal webcam on HP EliteBook 8460w not detected in device manager and not detected by driver

    Hello all...
I just bought HP EliteBook 8460w, after I installed all the program and driver I find out that the internal webcam is not working. When I have check in the device manager the webcam is not listed. Then I tried to download the newest software/driver of it, it appears a message box that mention the webcam is not detected, please enable it from the bios. Then I checked from the bios, the webcam is not listed to be enable. Afterward, I was wonder maybe the bios is not up to date. Then I updated the bios, but still after I checked, the webcam is still not listed to be enable.
So please if anyone have the same experience or might know some answer or solution for it, I would be very happy to try. Its starting to get on my nerve.
    Thank you very much before....
    Cheers,
    Denmuh

Hi, I figured out how to get the camera working on my 8460w laptop.  I am running Windows XP SP3.  No guarantee this is what will fix yours, but here's what I did:
I installed these two drivers from the HP.COM site:
    First -HP Universal Camera Driver
    link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
Second -HP High Definition (HD) Webcam Firmware
    link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
Control Panel - System - Harware - Device Manager
Under Imaging Devices category, look for an existing camera device line.
    Uninstall this device.
Then after a few moments, Windows recognized the camera again and automatically installed it with the right drivers (since it is really just a device connected through an internal USB port).
    Hope this helps you too.

  • Help I deleted my Bluetooth from device manager

Well trying to connect a controller things got messing and I tried to re-install my bluetooth by deleting it from device manager but, now downloading the drivers does nothing.
Also my computer is a lenovo y50-70

    Hi,
Did you mean the Bluetooth was missing from device manager? How did you delete it?
Open the Device Manger, click View -> Show hidden devices to see if it appear.
If it's not listed, find a category named Other devices under Device Manager to see if it appear there.
If the issue still persist, Please remove the device driver from “Control Panel – Programs and Features”, reboot the computer and see if the device will appear. If it still won’t appear, please try to install the driver for the Bluetooth device again and
click Action -> Scan for hardware changes to check the result.

  • Pro Book 4530s (Device manager does'nt show bluetooth)

Hi Experts , I'm having problem with my probook 4530s after formatting it with windows 7 ultimate.
I was able to install all the drivers needed aside from the bluetooth. Device manager doesnt seem to
detect it. Everytime I try to install bluetooth driver it says:
"the device may not be present or could have been ejected /unplugged from the system:
Any suggestions? could it be hardware problem since device manager cant detect the bluetooth
    device?

    Hi:
Not all models come with bluetooth.
The bluetooth device is definitely not present.
Install this software and see if the BT device shows up.

Also, what model wireless network adapter does your notebook use?  Look under the Network Adapters category in the device manager if you don't know.

  • K8T Neo FIS2R "1394 Net Adapter" in XP's Device Manager

I can't get my firewire port to work or recognize devices attached to it!
I just built a system with the K8T Neo FIS2R and an Athlon 64 3400+ running at stock speeds.  It also has GeiL Golden Dragon (matched pair) PC-3200 DDR which is running 1 trcd increment higher than rated to ensure stability.  I have a lot of devices installed and have reinstalled windows fresh twice now with the same problem.
In device manager, the "VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller" seems to be fine, but in the "Network adapters" category, I see my D-Link Wireless NIC (fine) and "1394 Net Adapter" with a big yellow exclamation mark next to it.
This computer is for a music studio and I absolutely have to use the firewire port because DigiDesign's Digi002 needs to be attached to the computer and communicating properly in order for ProTools 6.1 (our main studio software) to install and run.
I also have the BIOS set to enable the on-board sound, but I also have a pro-audio card installed (the M-audio Delta 1010) and the computer doesn't even see the on-board sound device whether enabled or disabled, when the M-audio card is installed (but this isn't my main concern, getting the firewire working is).

Where?  Nobody seems to be able to provide a valid location to acquire this mysterious "1.3 beta BIOS".  Someone mentioned it is on the german MSI website.  If it is, it's hidden, because I scoured it and found nothing.

  • Ipod 5th Generation 80 GB / Device Manager / Driver not Installed / Code 28

Well, where do I begin! Got my 1st Ipod 2 days ago & still unable to use it! I have installed & uninstalled the itunes 7 software numerous times. On phone w/ Apple for 1 hour...followed by online chat help w/ Dell.
I've tryed 4 different USB ports on my computer. The device Manager shows the Ipod w/ a ? and a ! in yellow. The add new hardware tells me, "Drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28." My computer reconizes that the ipod is plugged in, but will not do anything. There is no communication between the 2. Keeps telling me to insert cd for software for ipod.
Help! Does seem that other people are having similar issues. I think a software cd should of been provided w/ the ipod....not sure if that would of corrected my problem.

    Hi,
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run. the Run dialog appears,
    Type %temp%, then click OK.
locate and enter into the HP Installation temporary folder, start with the 7Z characters.
If you can see several folders starting with 7Z, locate the latest one.
Click the Address bar area, then the full address path will appear,
Copy the full path location by clicking CTRL + P while the path is selected.
    Enter the Device Manager.
Right click the printer name with the error mark, then click Update Driver.
Select the second option to manually locate the driver.

  • IPod is not recognized by Windows, iTunes or Device Manager

I'm running Windows XP with external hard drive. When hard drive is connected, iPod will not sync and I get message stating "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices had malfunctioned..."
When disconnect, iPod will sync. However, iTunes is on external drive; therefore musc is not syncing onto iPod. I've attempted the 5 R's as well as searching for iPod in Device Mananger. When iPod is conncected, it is listed in Devce Manage as "Unknown Device." Articles to solve recommend relettering device, bu how do I get it to be recognized by Device Manager?

I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO THAT I JUST BOUGHT MY 30GB IPOD VIDEO ABOUT 4 HOURS AGO, SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN REALLY STRUGGLING TO INSTALL IT. A SOON AS I GOT IT, I DID EXACTLY WHAT IT SAID, I WENT TO WWW.APPLE.COM/IPOD/START AND DOWNLOADED THE NEWEST ITUNES VERSION. THEN I PLUGGED IN MY IPOD TO MY COMPUTER, AND ALL THAT HAPPENS IS A LITTLE BUBBLE OPENS UP AND SAYS "FOUND NEW HARDWARE" WHEN I CLICK THAT, IT OPENS UP, AND I CLICK "INSTALL THE SOFTWARE AUTOMATICALLY" WHERE IT SAYS IT, THEN I CLICK NEXT AND WAIT. AFTER, IT SAYS "THE HARDWARE WAS NOT INSTALLED BECAUSE THE WIZARD CANNOT FIND THE NECESARRY SOFTWARE".AFTER I WENT TO WWW.APPLE.COM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, I'VE LOOKED THROUGH AND READ EVERY ARTICLE THAT CAN PERTAIN TO MY SITUTAION, BUT NONE HAVE HELPED ME I AM DISPLEASED TO SAY, THE LAST ARTICLE I READ WAS THIS ONE:

BUT EVEN THAT DOES NOT HELP ME BECAUSE WHEN I GET TO STEP 8 WHICH SAYS "Locate the iPod in this list. In some cases one of the entries will have "iPod" in its name. If no such entries are present, the iPod is most likely represented by "USB Mass Storage Device." I LOOK FOR WHERE IT SAYS "IPOD" OR "USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE" UNDER "UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS, AND CANNOT FIND EITHER THING..I HAVE RESTARTED MY COMPUTER A NUMBER OF TIMES, I HAVE EVEN UNISTALLED ITUNES THEN REINSTALLED IT I HAVE STRETCHED EVERY OPTION AND NOTHING HAS WORKED..CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME??..I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM FOR 4 HOURS STRAIGHT STOPPING ONLY TO GO TO THE BATHROOM AND GRAB A BITE TO EAT..

  • [solved] Digital Camera not recognized in device-manager

My digital camera "Canon Powershot SX120 is" is not recognized by the devicemanager. I have read Digital Cameras.
    $ groups
    wheel storage users printadmin
The "camera"-Group isn't needed anymore and this group doesn't exist on my system.
The Powershot SX 120 has a  MTP/PTP connection mode (as the manual says). But:
    # mtp-detect
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6
    Listing raw device(s)
    No raw devices found.
    gphoto succeed:
    $ gphoto2 --auto-detect
    Modell Port
    Canon PowerShot SX120 IS usb:002,019
A gphoto --summary could be found here
There is no udev-rule for this camera. If i create one while copying a rule from a similar camera from /etc/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules, and store it into /etc/udev/rules.d/69-canon.rules, the device-manager shows up. My udev-rule:
    # Canon PowerShot SX120AX (PTP/MTP mode)
    ATTR{idVendor}=="04a9", ATTR{idProduct}=="31e0", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1"
The device-manager shows me only the option to open with a file-manager. Doing so will result in an error:
The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/ do not exist.
    With my udev-rule:
    solid-hardware listen
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)
    Listening to add/remove events:
    Device Added:
    udi = '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
Without the active udev-rule, "solid-hardware listen" produces nothing, but
    udevadm monitor
monitor will print the received events for:
UDEV - the event which udev sends out after rule processing
    KERNEL - the kernel uevent
    KERNEL[5077.662572] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8 (usb)
    KERNEL[5077.662655] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/2-8:1.0 (usb)
    UDEV [5077.681178] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8 (usb)
    UDEV [5077.693035] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/2-8:1.0 (usb)
Don't know what to do ... is a udev-rule necessary to bring up the message from device-manger? Or is the Camera not recognized as a mtp-device (the Camera has no such settings)? How could i figure it out?
With Digikam i could import Fotos, but i would do so with gwenview. I've tried to check it out with gwenview_importer:
    $ gwenview_importer --udi '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
gwenview_importer: Missing required source folder argument.
(don't care about the different udi, i took this example from a former try) but i don't know, how to find out where the "source folder" is ...

I have solved this by making an extra udev-rule for my camera. See my adventure on forum.kde.org for details

  • Just boot camped mid-2012 MBP using Apple's BootCamp 5.1.5621. However, no wireless adapter is listed in device manager

[In Windows 8.1] When I access the Device Manager, it does not list my wireless adapter as one of the devices available. I have attempted to manually install the drivers from the BootCamp 5.1.5621 file.
I've spent several hours attempting to remedy this but have only found threads explaining how to solve the problem if the 802 adapter is already listed in the device manager.

I recently had some BT issue's in Win8 so I wrote a topic about this subject. Maybe you need to replace the Broadcom drivers as well.

  • Unable to open 2 9509 switches at the same time in Cisco Device Manager

    Dear Friends,
There are a pair of MDS 9509 switches whose management addresses are 172.16.2.197 and 172.16.2.198.
When we try to manage these Devices through Cisco device manager, the first device opens up without any problem, but when the second 9509 is opened in Cisco Device Manager, it fails giving the following error message:
"Open udp transport failed: Address already in use: Cannot bind"
To get around this issue, if we close the first interface to the 9509 switch, then we are able to open up the second 9509 in Device Manager.
We have this problem only in Cisco device manager. If we open one switch in Cisco device manager and the other switch in Cisco Fabric Manager, it works.
Also, we can telnet to both the devices successfully at a time.
The device manager in use is 4.1.
Please find enclosed the sh version outputs for your kind reference.
Can you please help me understand the cause of this issue?
    Thanks a lot
    Gautam

Is it always the same MDS that fails to open, or can you open either one first, and then the second one poses the problem (no matter which one is second)?
Can you try from a second work station and see if you can open DM to both switched at the same time? I suspect the address it is complaining about is the local workstation IP, not the MDS IP.
If you open the FM map, then you click on the MDS ICONs, can you open DM to both MDS?
