Device Central on Dreamweaver 4.0

The Device Central utility in Dreamweaver 4.0 appears to only emulate website appearance on smart phones.  Is there a way to set it so that it emulates tablet computers?  I'm particularly interested in Samsung and Amazon tablets.

Here is a tutorial on Device Central CS4.
It shows the correct way to download new devices.
But here is what I notice: Device Cental CS3 (the last version I had before CS5.5) does not seem to be able to download any new profiles beyond some really old devices. There is no iPhone, iPad or Samsung Galaxy. Device Central CS3 also crashes frequently on startup.
I have never used it. Websites I'm building for certain devices also have to work on regular browsers, so I will test on my iPhone 4 and my iPad, but my main target is my browser.
I also have JavaScript in several of my websites that dynamically reformats a website for mobile devices. Device Central doesn't seem to be able to show that. So reality™ may be better than Device Central anyway.

    Hello,
Can I use Device Central with Dreamweaver 8? Also, can i use
itr to develop (either in DW 8 or CS 3) WAP site withoiut using
Flash, or does the site needs to use Flash?
    Thanks,
    Ray

Device Central only works with DW CS3 (not DW 8 or earlier).
You don't need to use Flash to use Device Central. You can make a
WML page in DW CS3 and then preview it with Device Central. Here
    are the steps:
In DW CS3, choose File > New > Other > WML.
The WML file will only display in DW's code view.
Enter some text between the <card> tags.
Save the file and then choose File > Preview in Browser
    > Device Central.
The WML code displays in the selected phone emulator.
There are some existing posts about WAP/WML on the DW forum

    Hi, I have a question.
(Quick explanation) I have dreamweaver cs6, I created an android app, a run the emulator and everything seems to be ok with the app, I download the .apk and everything ok so far, but when i wanted to upload it to Google Play i need to sign it, but I search all the web somehow to sign it and i did not find anything to sign an app made with dreamweaver and Phonegap, just those made with Eclipse.
    My question:
Is there anyway to export driectly from Dreamweaver to Eclipse as a project? so i can export it and sign it...
if Not, How can i convert those html files made with dreamweaver to Eclipse files, so I can use Eclipse to sign and generate the keystore file
or, How can I generate a keystore file to sign an app made with Dreamweaver?
    Thakns.

  • IPhone in Device Central

In Adobe Device Central in Dreamweaver 5.5 there is an iPhone simulator. I see there is a grey band at the bottom that is for the buttons. But in my web app I don't want that buttons. Is there to see the simulator without that band?

The most reliable method is to use the Apple iPhone SDK, as I have found the other emulators are not accurate. For example, they display Flash content...

  • Adobe Device Central CS5.5

    Hi everybody,
I installed Adobe Master Collection suite on to my Mac OS 10.6.8. When I click on the Device Central icon I get the following error message: "The localized resource files for this application could not be loaded. Please reinstall or repair the application and try." Can anybody help me out as I'm puzzled, everything else such as Dreamweaver etc works no problem, so I'm puzzled as to know why this doesn't work?
    Thanks

  • Uninstalling Device central cs5

Okay I just installed a couple of trials of the new adobe dreamweaver/flash/after effects cs5.5 programs and i still have old support software (extension manager cs5, device central cs5 and extended script cs5, media encoder cs5). So basically i have cs5 and cs5.5 versions of those, which is doing nothing but wasting disk space. I uninstalled the old cs5 versions already, why aren't those going with them?

Have you tried the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool ?

  • Jquery mobile example and device central test

    Hi
Having created in Dreamweaver the default template for Jquery Mobile ( Page from sample > Mobile Starters>jquery mobile (local) ) and saved to localhost as well as on the web I decided to test in device central using preview in the device central option.
in device central I used the Apple Iphone 4 emulator and could see that I was able to proceed to page 2 by clicking on it , however clicking on the back button does not work.
This is the same for all pages in the JQM example.
I then tried this on a web emulator http://www.testiphone.com/ and the back button works OK. So does this mean that device central is not working correctly or have i missed something

    Hi
Have a look at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3857648#3857648 not sure how long it takes for fix to be implemented.

  • Device Central will not load web pages

Started using Device Central to view a web site I'm designing
for a client. Loading within Dreamweaver and Device Central, pages
will not load, the program stalls. I have had no luck in finding
information on-line and cannot re install the application ( it's
not listed in the reinstall items on my Adobe Web Premium CD ) .
Some help would be much appreciated!! Running OS X 10.5 on a 2.4
GHz Intel Core Duo Mac Book Pro.

Right but like so many things, what works for you does not
work for me (this was while loading a locally stored, plain old
html page in the same manner you used).
    Here
is a screenshot of what I get which is then followed by
    this
    screenshot.
Perhaps it is a Mac only problem. Until Adobe does or says
    something about it... who knows.

  • Device Central vs. Digital Publishing Suite

Dreamweaver 5.5 has a utility named Device Central which appears to emulate the appearance of websites on tablet computers.  Given this is true, what development resources would a purchase of Digital Publishing Suite gain me that I don't already have available with Device Central?

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that with Device Central you can only see how your app will fare on different platforms whereas DPS allows you to publish your content to distributors such as iTunes as well as manage additional features such as direct entitlement and subsciptions etc.
In short. DC is only for testing and local publishing. DPS is to move your content into the wild and distribute.
    Happy to be corrected here.

  • Device Central devices read mobile css?

I am working with Device Central CS5.5. Are the devices supposed to read the media type handheld css? I have had no success in this. There were a few messages posted, but they didn't seem to me to come to any conclusion. What is it that must be done for the devices to read the mobile css?

    Hi
    I wrote that.
While it is a good intro it isn't a comprehensive solution.
    Designing
for mobile devices is fairly complex due to the fact that
    many devices
don't read handheld style sheets, they don't even look for
    them. You
also have take into consideration how Opera SSR works and how
    its triggered.
