Device Channel for IE8

I set up a device channel for IE8 and used the user-agent below for Device Inclusion Rules:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; GTB7.5; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; InfoPath.2)
I assigned a different master page for it in Site Master Page Settings (I just assigned Seattle as I have a custom master page for Default). When I tried to load the site in IE8 it's still using the default masterpage and not Seattle. Is there any step I
might be missing?

Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that Device Channel for IE8 is not working.
I referred to the following article, created a device channel for IE8 (use the
Device Inclusion Rules which you have offered)  and I reproduced your issue.
http://jussionsharepoint.com/targeting-multiple-browsers-and-devices-in-sharepoint-2013-using-device-channels/
At last, I solved the issue by using the following tool to check my IE8 Agent string. Refer to the screenshot:
So use the following tool to check whether your Device Inclusion Rules is right.

  • Is it possible to set up device channels in Team site if I activate publishing feature?

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to create device channels for my team site. I inadvertently created this as team instead of Publishing site. Please advise.
    Dinesh

    Hi Dinesh,
    If you want to access SharePoint 2013 out-of-box device channel then it requires SharePoint Publishing Features at site collection, please enable SharePoint
    Server publishing site infrastructure in team site
    Other Approach:
    Device channel work with "User Agent Strings", you can read browser user agent string at run time and apply custom master page/CSS, however you need to do customize master page/CSS for all devices
    The User Agent String as I’m sure we all know identifies which browser you are using to connect with it is sent from the Client to the Server within the initial headers and contains certain tokens like Operating System, Browser, etc.

  • Device Channel Rules for All mobile phones and Tablets?

    I am developing master pages for different devices, my target is to develop different master page for Desktop, Mobile phones and Tablet.
    Default device channel works for desktops, “$FallbackMobileUserAgent" works for both mobile phones and tablets but I want to design different master
    page for all tablets.
    Is there any fall back rule that targets all tablets? and any rule that targets mobile phones only?
    Update: I found "ipad" and "iphone" inclusion rule works across all apple devices.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to create rule that targets mobile phones or tablets only.
    Per my knowledge, channels control which master page is used to show your site on for example iPhone or iPad. Channels are bound to master pages, and channels are bound to user agent string of device in use (phone, tablet or PC).
    You need to supply different user agent substrings and order of device channels.
    For more information, you can refer to:

  • ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE sbt

    what are the scenarios that we have to use the below statement.
    RMAN> ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE sbt;

    first you have to understand why we allocate channel for rman..it crates a session to target database,To manually allocate a channel, which is a connection between RMAN and a database instance. Each connection initiates an Oracle server session on the target or auxiliary instance: this server session performs the work of backing up, restoring, or recovering backup sets and copies.
    Restrictions and Usage of this command
    Execute this command only at the RMAN prompt. This command cannot be used within a RUN block.
    The target instance must be started.
    Do not specify a channel ID.
    You cannot allocate a maintenance channel to a shared session.
    You cannot prefix ORA_ to a channel name. RMAN reserves channel names beginning with the ORA_ prefix for its own use.
    Manually allocated channels (maintenance or normal channels) and automatic channels based on configured settings are never mixed. To perform maintenance on both disk and SBT simultaneously using manually allocated maintenance channels, you must allocate both SBT and DISK channels explicitly.
    If you use ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE, then RMAN uses the following convention for channel naming: ORA_MAINT_devicetype_n, where devicetype refers to DISK or sbt and n refers to the channel number. For example, RMAN uses these names for two manually allocated disk channels:
    ORA_MAINT_DISK_1
    ORA_MAINT_DISK_2
    You can allocate multiple maintenance channels for a single job, but you should only use this feature in these situations:
    o
    To allow crosschecking or deletion of all backup pieces or proxy copies, both on disk and tape, with a single command
    o
    To make crosschecking and deleting work correctly in an Oracle Real Application Clusters configuration in which each backup piece or proxy copy exists only on one node
    here is some example of this command you should check this..
    Deleting a Backup Set: Example This example deletes backup sets from tape created more than a week ago:
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE sbt;
    DELETE NOPROMPT BACKUP OF DATABASE COMPLETED BEFORE 'SYSDATE-7';
    Crosschecking Archived Logs: Example This example crosschecks all archived logs on disk and tape. For disk, the preconfigured disk channel is used; for tape, an SBT channel is allocated manually. If the logs are not found, then RMAN marks them as EXPIRED in the repository:
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE sbt;
    CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    Crosschecking on Multiple Nodes of an Oracle Real Application Clusters Configuration: Example In this example, you perform a crosscheck of backups on two nodes of an Oracle Real Application Clusters configuration, where each node has access to a subset of backups. It is assumed here that all backups are accessible by at least one of the two nodes used in the crosscheck. Any backups not accessible from at least one of the nodes are marked EXPIRED after the crosscheck.
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE DISK CONNECT 'SYS/change_on_install@inst1';
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE DISK CONNECT 'SYS/change_on_install@inst2';
    CROSSCHECK BACKUP;

  • ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE DISK

    Why does the command
    "ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE DISK;"
    work when running RMAN interactively and not from a script??
    The error I get in the script is...
    18>      ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00558: error encountered while parsing input commands
    RMAN-01005: syntax error: found "for": expecting one of: "channel_id, double-quoted-string, identifier, single-quoted-string"
    RMAN-01007: at line 18 column 18 file: D:\oracle\ora92\hpcs\Rman_DeleteObsolete.rman
    How can I delete these obsolete backups from the script?

    FIXED IT.
    The ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE DISK command had to be outside of the RMAN RUN BLOCK.
    All works 100% now.

  • Having issues with custom master pages and device channels

    I'm working in Sharepoint 2013 and am attempting to create a custom master page that is to be used by mobile devices. I have created an html file and a custom css file that includes snippets from the design manager. The file appears to preview fine in a
    browser from Microsoft Web Expression. I have loaded the html file into sharepoint via design manager, so the master file is there as well. The css files are in the style library for the site collection and I have created a device channel including user agent
    strings for iphones going back to the iPhone 4 and operating systems going back to iOS 6. I have obviously assigned my custom "mobile" master for that device channel and I have turned off mobile browsing. However when I open the site on my phone
    it shows the normal full desktop view and not my custom master. I will include my html code, my css and a screenshot of my device channel below. Please help!
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><!--SPG:
    This HTML file has been associated with a SharePoint Master Page (.master file) carrying the same name. While the files remain associated, you will not be allowed to edit the .master file, and any rename, move, or deletion operations will be reciprocated.
    To build the master page directly from this HTML file, simply edit the page as you normally would. Use the Snippet Generator at https://otterbein.sharepoint.com/sites/Committees/_layouts/15/ComponentHome.aspx?Url=https%3A%2F%2Fotterbein%2Esharepoint%2Ecom%2Fsites%2FCommittees%2F%5Fcatalogs%2Fmasterpage%2Fmobile%5Ftest%5Fmaster%2Emaster to create and customize useful SharePoint entities, then copy and paste them as HTML snippets into your HTML code. All updates to this file will automatically sync to the associated Master Page.

    Hi,
    The issue is likely not your HTML Master Page but your user agent string. Try a user agent string of just "iphone". To test your master page, you could also set the user agent to "MSIE", which should cause this master page to load for
    any version of IE. This will help you debug the master page as well in your normal browser.

  • How to set audio hardware input channels for narration & to what?

    Searched forum - hope I didn't miss solution for the following:
    Using PE3 in Windows XPSP3
    Tried for the first time to add narration to a project. Was using a stereo/microphone headset. Got nothing but noise. Could record in Windows recorder and Audacity. However, the microphone as part of the set would not work in Windows Audio Hardware Test Wizard. The set was using a sound chip on the motherboard.
    A friend of mine has the same OS, motherboard and is using PE3. He too had never tried adding narration - but tried with a USP connected set, and was successful.
    I removed my stereo set, and connected a USB set. To make sure all settings were reset, I did a cold reboot. The USB set worked in Windows Audio Test Wizard. I opened my project again, and in Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware, clicked AIIO Settings. Unchecked the old set (Realtek) in both the Output and Input Ports area, checked the USB Audio Device, moved to the top of both lists.
    Then tried to add narration and got the error message "Your current audio hardware selection does not have any input channels. Please use Preferences>Audio Hardware to correct this problem.
    Thinking that maybe this was a preset for the project and couldn't be changed, I started a new project, no video, just tried to add narration, and got the same message.
    The entries in the columns in the ASIO Direct Sound for Full Duplex Setup menu for the USB Audio Device in the Input section are: 2048, 0, 1, 16, Yes
    The only one of these that seems to be able to be adjusted is the second number - the Offset (Samples). The Audio Channels number is set to 1 and doesn't seem to be changeable. Suggestions?

    When working with Audio in most NLE's, i.e. Premiere Elements, or Pro, there are basically three areas that can affect how the Audio is handled on one's system. First, there is the Sound settings in Windows (from Control Panel). Next, the Audio card/chip probably/possibly has a console to make settings at the card/chip level. Last, and these are really two locations, but I'm only counting them as one since they are both in the NLE - Edit>Preferences>Audio & Audio Hardware. This is where Steve is referring to. Check all settings, and I'd suggest doing so in the order that I listed them above: OS, Audio card, then Premiere. A Mute, or by-pass in the first two, can override the settings in Premiere, and you may have its setting correct, but still not be able to effectively use your hardware.
    The exact settings chosen will depend on the exact hardware that is properly installed. Without knowing all of your hardware and other settings elsewhere, one cannot give you a definitive answer. Ideally, in the settings drop-downs, you *should* see your hardware listed. Look closely, as these can be a bit cryptic.
    If you are still unable to get your hardware working properly, a fourth place to look would be Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager for your Audio hardware. Check that Device Manager sees your hardware, and that it is working properly.
    If all is set up properly, but still not working, report back with exact specs on your system, including all of your Audio hardware. There are possibly some more steps that can be taken. I will not mention them now, as they *should not* be needed. If you do need further assistance, please list every option in all of the drop-down lists from Premiere, so we can know what your choices are.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How DAQmx Create Channel for Accelerometer will convert the voltaage signal into g

    HI all,
    I want to know about DAQmx Create Channel for Accelerometer hoe it will do the convertion any one reply me
    Regards,
    Santhosh M

    Most of the accelerometers that i have used till now are ICP devices.
    They need about 5mA current to power them selves up. Other wise they give inaccurate output.
    I guess you are measuring a raw time domain vibration signal.So you just need to
    I have attached my own  code of how i acquires a vibration signal usin PXI-4462 and 4461 modules. Keep it secret till i do my thesis .
    You have to specify channel name ,device name, and remember to create the channel using the AI-accelerometer -accelerometer VI ,if you use any other form of this polymorphic vi then ICP source options will not be there and your sensors will not have the current to work properly.

  • Why is the input mode greyed out when I try to create a virtual channel for my 1102?

    I have set up a virtual channel for my SCXI-1102, and the input mode is greyed out with it set to "differential". I have already skimmed this forum for answers, and I have checked to verify that the mode slot under the AI tab for my MIO-E series card is set to nonreferenced single-ended mode. I then created a virtual channel with the device slot under the hardware column set to Dev1_SC1_MD1CXI-1102. At this point, as already stated, the input mode goes grey while set to differential. What's going on?

    Hello,
    All outputs from the SCXI module are measured in differential mode. You can still mix differential and single ended measurements (if you use the remaining channels of your daq board).
    The easiest way to mix modes is with virtual channels. All SCXI analog input channels will be differential, while you can make other virtual channels differential or single ended. If you don't want to use virtual channels, you can use AI Hardware Config in LabVIEW to change the mode.
    Hope this helps. Regards,

  • Detect current device channel from code behind

    From
    MSDN article about device channels:
    Also, device channels can set a JavaScript variable called effectiveDeviceChannel that contains the current channel alias. This variable can be used to show which channel is currently being used.
    Is there similar variable, that could be used in code behind (in C#), to determine which channel is currently used?

    You can use DeviceChannelPanel in your web part...
    For e.g. the following in a visual web part will render only to a channel that is targetted for tablets.
    <Publishing:DeviceChannelPanel runat="server" ID="pnlTab" IncludedChannels="Tab">
        You can see this tab devices.
    </Publishing:DeviceChannelPanel>
    From code behind, you can create a device channel panel dynamically and add contents to it.
    e.g.
                LiteralControl l = new LiteralControl();
                l.Text += "Sample content for tablets";
                DeviceChannelPanel dp = new DeviceChannelPanel();
                dp.Controls.Add(l);
                dp.IncludedChannels = "Tab";
                MyPanel.Controls.Add(dp);

  • Device Channels neither working on SharePoint Online nor OnPrem

    I already posted this issue on Office365 forum but considering the urgency of the task I am posting this issues over here  as well.
    Its about device channels and setting up device channels requires very simple configurations but unfortunately I couldnt make it work.On the SharePoint Online I followed the procedure as give
    below:
    1. Created a copy of Seatle Master page using SharePoint 2013 designer and added some text in it body to make it little different from the original seatle (I  checked it in and published it and verified that it works).
    2. Then created a  device channel from the SharePoint Online Site setting and  provided the Name of the Device channel i.e. "MobileDevices", Alias, Description, Device Inclusion rules for Windows Phone 8 as follows:
    Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows Phone 8.0; Trident/6.0; IEMobile/10.0; ARM; Touch; NOKIA; Lumia 920
    Also tried the following separately:
    Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows Phone OS 8.0; Trident/6.0; IEMobile/10.0; ARM; Touch; NOKIA; Lumia 1520
    and then:
    Android
    $FALLBACKMOBILEUSERAGENTS;
    Windows Phone
    3. To get Master pages setting, activated the "SharePoint Server publishing feature" from both Site features and Site collection features.
    4. On the Master page settings page, I set my custom master page for the device channel that  I already created.I also tried Oslo here and also tried oslo in Default
    To test that I browsed the site with the query string:
    https://Company.sharepoint.com/teams/default.aspx?DeviceChannel=MobileDevices
    and also used the Internet Explorer's emulator for windows phone 8 but unfortunately this did not work and the right master page did not show up.
    I also used my Android device here but the right master page appear.
    Moreover I also deactivated the "Wiki Page Home Page" feature. Furthermore I tried doing the same on my SharePoint 2013
    Dev VM (Local single server farm) but to no avail.
    The problem seems like there is some issue with switching to the right master page or the device is not recognized. May
    be I am missing so configuration. I would really appreciate if anyone could assist me in solving this issues
    If you need any further info, I will happily provide that.

    Hi Vhyder,
    I have seen the thread that you posted in Office 365 forum, the thread is answered.
    The solution is creating a Publishing site  instead of creating a team site and activating the publishing features.
    The thread is:

    As your issue is solved, I will mark the reply as anwser to close this case.

  • Device Channels vs. Responsive Web Design

    When to use Device Channels?
    When to use Responsive Web Design?

    Device channels are used when we want to make our SharePoint site viewable on mobile devices. Though Responsive Web Design also does the same thing by making the design fluid enough to be adjusted based upon the mobile device.
    But the major difference here comes when we want a different design on different devices. Like for example, we want that in the desktop version we want to see a banner image on the site home page but in mobile we don't want that banner image to show. Or
    lets say you want different mobile devices like Windows Phone, Android etc show different content then we should prefer Device Channels as device channels gives you a flexibility to target specific content of a site on different devices.
    With Responsive design you can hide using css but still those components will be there on the screen and hence they will be loaded on the page. But with device channels, using different device channel panel, they will be loaded only for the specific device
    only.
    Using Device Channels, you can create different master page and different css for different devices and you only have to create one single page which will be flexible enough to render differently on different devices.
    For more reference have a look at the following link
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/23157.device-channels-in-sharepoint-2013.aspx
    Hope that helps.

    This particular interface runs around 100 times a day without any issues, however around once or twice  a month we get this error.
    This is a synchronous interface.
    Could be because of number of threads alloted for Synchronous messages in Visual Admin.
