Hello,
Well...things are what they are...

you need a sufficient active data plan to go along.if not the default blackberry browser will not retrive any web page.
With older OS levels (which, being an EOL product, is all that your 9520 can have), there indeed was a restriction on the native browser requiring subscription to an adequate data plan in order to use the browser, even via WiFi. That's just the way it was. With newer OS levels (only available, quite naturally, to newer non-EOL products), that restriction has been removed, and the browser can be used with WiFi only and no associated data plan. I wish it were different...but it is not.
BlackBerry devices indeed are very complicated...they were not really made for the casual user who depended on things to be simple and easy. And that's especially true for older device models, like yours is. Sadly, being an older and EOL device, there is no newer OS level available and hence, none of the newer easier to use features are available for that model.
I wish the situation were better for you, but sadly it is not, and is a consequence of choosing such an old and EOL device.
Good luck!

  • Storm 9520 in reboot loop

I've got a blackberry Storm 9520 from my friend. It does not power on normally. It's stuck in a loop of reboots with ed light blinking. I have tried to reinstall device's OS many times with Loader, but it always stucks at "Reconnecting to JVM" after I plug in the cell, because it starts rebooting all over again.
Is there something I can do to make it stop rebooting all the time.
PS I even bought a new cell, in case the old one is dead - nothing helped - it's still rebooting.

    Follow this steps using JL_Cmder.
    1) Download JL_Cmder, unzip & install to the computer.
    2) Now, go ahead and sync all of your info or back it up. If you DO NOT, you will lose it ALL, obviously because we are wiping the device.
    3) If you do not have the latest version of the Desktop Manager, download it from HERE
Also, make sure, that you have the OS you are wanting to install to the device, installed to your computer as well.
    4) Make sure the Vendor XML file is deleted if you are going to install a OS that is not from your carrier. The vendor XML file can be located by going toC:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Apploader
    5) Make sure the DM is closed and plug in BB to computer via USB
    6) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now, this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
    7) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
    8) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
    9) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
    10) Press "Y" to continue
    11) Now type "blackberry" to continue
    12) Now you will see a white screen with a '507' Error Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
    13) Open the DM
    14) Select Apploader and step your way to the finish. After the OS is installed, it will take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to reboot the device. DO NOT UNPLUG THE DEVICE UNTIL THE APPLOADER SCREEN SAYS "THE LOADING OPERATION WAS SUCCESSFUL!!
    15) Almost done. Now, with the DM still open go to the Main page and Select "Backup & Restore" and restore from the backup that was made before wiping.
That's it! You have now wiped your device with JL_Cmder
Make sure you follow the instructions, and you shouldn't have a problem. I hope this helps.
    Good luck!
Please thank those who help you by clicking the button.

  • Aging Mac Pro constantly rebooting

My aging early 2008 Mac Pro is constantly rebooting, almost always when I'm away from the computer. When it reboots, I have to reset audio, which has defaulted to my MOTU Audio Express. The Mac Pro is exhibiting other odd symptoms: Occasionally, upon resumption from inactivity, the keyboard and mouse will have quit working. The Bluetooth Apple Magic Pad continues to function. A restart is the only fix. Also, occasionally, the Mac Pro will refuse to wake from sleep. Sometimes I must do a forced restart to get out of that. Other times, it will wake up on its own after a period of about 30 seconds.
It also seems to go into a harder sleep — rather than the monitors just lighting up as they usually do, it will hesitate a moment and the fans will cycle up loudly.
I was having similar issues months ago. I installed an SSD drive about six months ago, did a clean system install and migrated files over, and everything was working smoothly until the last week or so, and all the problems have resurfaced, with a vengeance. I reinstalled Mountain Lion, but that didn't help. I've considered another clean install or a Time Machine recovery from a month ago, but I really don't want to have to go through that every six months.
Any ideas? I'm half considering buying a new Mac Mini and using the pro as a file server or something.
Here is a copy of the report I get after the machine reboots.

Do you have TRIM Enabler? what SSD? how much free space? Have you ever done a secure erase and restore on the SSD? When you repair, are you booting from ML Recovery or from a full working system, a clone of your current system?
You might want a small 100GB volume somewhere with another clean install of ML 10.8.3 and with TRIM Enabler - I use my TimeMachine drive which has 800GB free. Also a 60GB sparse disk image of the SSD.
Putting your SSD on a PCIe 6G controller can help, though some have been known to cause corruption.
Repairing only touches the directory so it doesn't tell you if the entire file structure is okay.
A Safe Boot after repair is a good idea to do, then restart again.
How much faith do you have in the 8800GT? think it is time to replace and upgrade to a newer card, from Apple ATI 5770 or higher end AMD 7950 Mac Edition even.
Do you monitor system temps with something? how old are those FBDIMMs? Are they running 65* or less?
You should really have a clone and do a restore every 3 months or so. No need for TimeMachine method. Takes under an hour. And of course all your data is not on the SSD (well, the home library should which is  ~/Library where all mail and web and prefs are stored. But all data is not on SSD at all.

No reason or need for a Mini. Unless you want. Should be fine, though the 3,1's have been the most tempermental with Mountain Lion up until 10.8.3. And you might regret moving to mini if a new Mac Pro were to come out.

Hello this is happening to us also (minus the Bluetooth speaker).  We can't figure out what is causing the data usage.  I turned off mobile data as soon s I activated the device, and got the message that unless I am connected to WiFi.....(that is exactly what I wanted). We watched Netflix for about three hours, then the alerts started.  Like you we have many devices connected and never used over 2GB now all of a sudden we have used it in a matter of hours.  My husband called Verizon  and got the usual doubting Thomas response.  I understand that they don't know my device settings.  So over the phone we check all the settings and turned  off every possible culprit eating up the data and end the call.  By now I have purchased another gig for the month!  Assured we are NOT using mobile data, we continue on the IE path to bliss.  HA!  A few hours later I check the mobile data usage on the Verizon website and that darn thing is still using data.  After two more phone calls and two VERY uneventful trips to the local store we were told to take out the sim card.  This has stopped the data usage, but it defeats the purpose of having the data plan.  I could have just stuck with my Surface.  Verizon sent us a new sim card.  Its been installed and I have set my homepage to Verizon mobile data usage (just kidding) but I am on that site a lot.   I am surprised at the number of complaints about this device.  When we called the Verizon support acted as though this was the first time they had heard about this.   Loved your post, you should write for a living.

  • Constantly Rebooting every few mins

Hey, my device is constantly rebooting every few mins.
I bought it from ebay classed as 'spares or repairs', and the post stated that it was not receiving signal and stays on "searching...". no big deal as i only wanted it for a cheap ipod for my younger brother.
is there any way i can stop it from doing this rebooting thingy? i've tried the method of turning on 3g then restarting the phone then inputting a sim but that hasn't fixed it :/
any and all help is much appericated

This kind of crash is usually or always caused by a memory fault. If you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original ones and see whether there's an improvement.
Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test, if applicable.
You can try reinstalling the OS, but most likely there will be no change.
Otherwise, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the crash, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.

    Hi guys,

I would like to be able to do a factory reset but the computer will not turn off???
It jumps straight out of sleep mode. It refuses to shut down.
Remove the hard drive then re-install it to reseat the connection.
Try to reach BIOS with hard drive removed and set to defaults, then reinstall drive to try again. (resetting defaults may turn off, fast start, sleep mode, eco settings. I suggest not to use any of those.)
Try testing the RAM, remove and reinstall one at a time and in different slots to test RAM and RAM slots.
Try pressing fn and F2,F8,F12, the number 0
If its windows 8 press shift when you shut down.

  • Intel-based PC constantly rebooting after Service Pack 3 install

I know many of people were having this problem, but since my PC doesn't have an AMD processor, I'm not sure what to do.
My PC is an HP Pavilion with an Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz. I don't exactly know the model number and since I'm away from home I can't look at it right now.
I installed Service Pack 3 the other day and I'm getting the common error where the computer is constantly rebooting. I'm hesitant to do what the following link suggests since it seems to be only applicable to AMD computers:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c01457284
I can't boot in Safe Mode nor the last known working configuration. I don't have the recovery disks and I don't have a copy of XP for reformatting either. I figure my answer is in the Recovery Console?
Since I can't post from home this'll be a slow process. What should I do? Thank for reading!

Try altering the Windows registry key as follows. Once it is completed then once again begin installation of SP3:
    1. Click Start - Run - Type “regedit” and press enter.
    2. Navigate to
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    \Software
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
    \Setup
    3. In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value
    4. Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\”
This should help. Try installing SP3 and should work fine.

  • Galaxy s5 constantly rebooting

  • Macbook Air constantly rebooting after installing Mavericks... this was my fix

Just in case this helps anyone.
I installed Mavericks on my Mac without an issue. When it restarted, my Mac would constantly reboot after a few minutes. It didn't matter if I logged in or not. I tried the various things that have been suggested (reset NVRAM, CMOS, running a disk check) but nothing help. If I booted into safe mode, I would not have any problems.
The issue ended up being some systems extensions in my /System/Library/Extensions folder. I had installed and deleted Trend Micro Smart Surfing a while ago by using the manual uninstall (move the application to the trash) which leaves the system extensions it had added intact (there was a Trend Micro folder in /System/Library/Extensions).
I reinstalled the software and then used the uninstaller that came with the program and after I rebooted, everything worked fine. I checked the /System/Library/Extensions folder and could see that the Trend Micro folder had been removed by the uninstaller.
I would suggest looking at the /System/Library/Extensions folder and comparing to what is in the applications folder. If you something in the extensions folder but not in the application one, you might be having the same type of issue that I was having.

  • Lost permission/ownership on ocr&voting device after reboot

    Hi all
I have an issue on setting up a 10.2.0.3 crs+rac on OEL 5 64 bit.
    My configuration is as follows:
    - 2 node OEL 5 64 bit
    - storage on netapp (FCP)
    - 2 hba per node (qlogic driver qla2400)
    - dm-multipath
I was able to install and upgrade the crs stack up to 10.2.0.3, binding multipath devices to raw devices (as requested by OUI).
After install, I changed OCR and voting to point to block devices, using "multipathed" devices /dev/mapper/crs_voting1p1 anc /dev/mapper/crs_ocr1p1.
All worked fine, until I decided to reboot the node.
The issue is that I was not able to set ownership/permission on /dev/mapper/crs* devices on reboot (as expected, they become root:disk 660, and oracle:dba can't read/write on them).
I tried to setup udev to change these, as I used when dealing with raw and block devices, but with no success.
Could anyone give me some tip?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

    Hi
correct syntax for binding raw devices is:
    raw /dev/raw/raw1 /dev/mpath/mpath24.
I used the above syntax, binding raw to "mapper" devices.
Remember to create at least one partition and initialize it (with dd), and to assign correct permission/ownership on raw devices.
After the install phase, I changed bot voting and ocr device to point to block devices (/dev/mpath/....).
    Hope this helps.
    regards

  • Just upgraded to 2.1 and phone is constantly rebooting

    Hi all,
I just updated to 2.1 and my phone is constantly rebooting (8 times in the last 5 minutes). Is this just me, or is anyone else seeing this?
I am currently in a building with very poor phone service, so that may be related (it just reboot for the 9th time).

  • Blackberry constantly rebooting/restarting

    Hey!
Was just wondering if anyone could help me!
I have the Blackberry Curve 8520, and it constantly reboots/restarts. I've had my phone just over six months.
I went into an Orange store last weekend and was told if I updated the software, this would sort it, but unfortunatly it hasn't.
    Thank-you in advance!

    Thank you for your post.
    I am in Ontario, Canada.
    I found a solution.
I turned off receiving notification of a new voicemail, via voicemail settings when I call voicemail. Then I allowed the battery to fully drain.  I recharged the battery and restarted the phone.
It works perfectly now. Yahoo!!  I still see a message that I missed a call, so I know to check my voicemail.

  • IBook G4 constantly rebooting

My iBook G4 is constantly rebooting from start up but not booting as far as a login window.
From the grey screen with the apple and 'wait' icons, the screen goes black and then reboots again...and goes black and reboots again. And so on....
I've now taken the battery out to avoid a fire hazard.
    Steps taken:
    *PRAM reset
    *Reset the Power Management Unit
    *iBook Hardware Test (all OK)
*boot from start up disk - only takes me OSX installation
*Disk Doctor - Ran repairs and verifications successfully
    Is it dead?

When you booted the computer from the OSX installer disc,
did you use the options in the menubar to run Disk Utility?
You can try to repair disk from there, and then restart.
Also, you may be able to attempt an Erase and Install
or an Archive and Install. If the contents of the hard disk
drive are corrupted, an all new system on a completely
wiped hard drive (HDD) may be an answer. Using the
Disk Utility in the OSX installer, you should also be
able to see if the SMART status of the HDD is OK.
There could be a corruption on the startup sequence
in the hard disk drive, or the drive itself may be defective.
Other things could be defective, but troubleshooting and
hoping to narrow the field one step at a time is helpful.
You can also use the booted installer's Disk Utility and
choose an option to write zeros or low-level format the
hard disk drive; then format it in HFS+, and install anew.

  • Constantly rebooting 3T time capsule

My approx 3 year old 3T Time Capsule (TC) is constantly rebooting like it is overheating but it doesn't feel very hot at all.
When it is on, the wireless network is up and functioning but after a few minutes it does the following:
    1.     goes off-line,
    2.     the fan speed increases,
    3.     the light goes flashing yellow,
    4.     the TC reconnects the wireless, and
    5.     repeats 1 to 4 previous steps after a few minutes.
    Any ideas?

This is A1409, Gen 4 TC.
They have some nasty board faults.. Yours is behaving stranger than some.. but out of the question.
Is it less or more than 3 years..??
More it is completely out of warranty.. it is simply time to replace it.
If it is less.. then warranty is possible if you happen to have applecare on any current computer that you bought 12months ago at least.. the rules are complicated.. ring apple to see if they apply to you.
If you have no warranty.. do the following.
    1. Factory reset.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
Redo the setup.. unlikely to fix it but worth a go.
    2. See what faults the airport utility shows.. might be none.. but worth a look.
    3. This is crazy but if it is faulty soldering.. take your TC with power off.. and drop it about from table height onto the floor (carpet or rug).. straight onto its rubber mat base. This is the old bash it if it doesn't work and sometimes due to the huge problem with poor solder joins works.. it won't last forever .. perhaps a few months but long enough to extract your files if any are needed.
I personally would not do this.. it is reported and I am telling you it might work.. the right way is to pull the board out of the TC and reflow the solder in an oven.. that has been reported to me as successful.
    https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair/gen4-a1409-i…
    4. Buy a second hand Gen3 TC.. A1355 from ebay.. these are the most reliable of the flat models.. And swap the hard disk from the gen4 to the gen3.. overall this comes out about as cheap and good a way as any.
