Device failed to connect when trying to sync contacts
When I try to sync my contacts with outlook all of a sudden I get a message that says "the device failed to connect". I did upgrade to 4.7 DM recently. I am not sure if this might have had anything to with it. I have now tried to uninstall that upgrade and go back to a previous version of DM. Any ideas on what might cause my BB to not be recognized by my system anymore?

I just resolved the problem by pulling the batteries and then plugging the BB into my computer. This reset something and now it works. Weird. Thanks for your reply.

My itunes crashes when it tries to sync contacts with Outlook. I cannot even select the Contacts tab to change the settings. When I click the Contacts tab, itunes crashes. Has anyone experienced this problem?
I'm experiencing the same problem.
A temporary fix is to open iTunes (without the iPod cabled into the computer.) Go to "Edit Preferences," then "Devices," and check the block that says "Disable automatic syncing..."
Then, attach the iPod USB cable. The iPod settings will all show up, but the iPod won't sync, and iTunes won't crash. You can then uncheck the block under the Contacts tab that says "Sync Contacts." (iTunes will ask you whether you want to save the existing contacts.)
Go back and uncheck the Disable automatic sync command. Tell iTunes to sync the iPod, and there shouldn't be an iTunes crash.
Admittedly, this is a bandaid until something better shows up. My suspicion is that it's a problem that originates with Outlook, and not iTunes. -

When I try syncing my iPod Touch, it comes up with the error message: "iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPod because the iPod disconnected." When I turn off contact syncing, the sync works just fine, but then all of my contacts remain out-of-date. Has anybody else encountered/solved this problem?Yes, I had the exact same problem. I called technical support and they could not help me. But I solved it independently, while on the phone with support .... they didn't know why this worked - go figure!
sorry - I'm not on that computer at the moment, so I don't have the exact lingo but here goes:
I have multiple categories in my address book. For some reason when I specified to sync only those that were checked (as opposed to the whole group) I checked each and every category in my address book. This sync worked like a charm.

Error 80043c90 when trying to sync contacts
I want my phone numbers off my phone. There's well over 256 so I can't use the sim card.
I've tried this with old/new versions of pc suite and ovi suite. I've tried on windows 7, and windows XP. I've tried with USB, and bluetooth. I get THE EXACT SAME ERROR EVERYTIME. Phone connects just fine, but when you go to sync it tells you to reconnect the cable and mentions the error number in the subject line.

The latest version of itunes (10.2.2) freezes immdiately after connecting a device when trying to sync to ipod, iphone or ipad. The beachball just keeps spinning forever or until I force quit
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

When trying to sync my iPhone, the message " The iPhone could not be synced because the Sync session failed to start" appears. What to do?
I had the same problem with my iPad 2. Tried everything suggested by others but nothing worked. Finally this is what solved it.
1) Eject and unplug iPad. Restart MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8). Update iTunes to version 10.6.3 via Apple/ Software update.
2) Plug in iPad. Start iTunes (obviously 'failed to sync' message will appear). Select device on iTunes. On Summary page do a restore of iPad. It will ask you if you want to backup your iPad. Choose to backup. You will need a fast internet connection because it will update the iPad software to the latest version before restoring.
3) Choose to restore from backup.
4) Finally do a sync.
This worked for me finally after a day of trying all other methods. -
ITunes on my iMac seems to think my iPhone is connected and tries to sync even even when it is not.
iTunes on my iMac seems to think my wife's iPhone is connected and tries to sync even even when it is not. This has been going on for a couple of years now and I am finally trying to stop it. I launch iTunes manually to sync any number of devices we have in the household and, at least every third time I launch iTunes, it pops up my wife's iPhone and start spinning around as if it is connected and syncing but it is not. This happened to me today when my wife and her iPhone were not even in the house or even the same city for that matter! Oddly, she recently (finally) upgraded from an iPhone 3 to a 5 assuming that would finally stop it but it just kept on happening. Anyone have any idea how to stop this? Thanks!

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease? -

Restart your computer and the iPhone. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo. It is safe to do, there should be no content loss. It is the same as rebooting your computer.

when trying to sync music, message says my device is synced with another library? what other library? my laptop crashed and i had it wiped clean. i redownloaded itunes. all my apps are there, my music is not.
You should be able to recover the media with the tips in this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That might switch the assocation of the device to the new machine but I couldn't say for sure.
