Device locking during live calls (speaker phone or handfree)

Is there a way to prevent the device from locking while on a call?
I don't think talking on the phone should be considered as "inactivity". Especially on a device mainly dedicated to this function.

The BlackBerry Q10 smartphone currently does not have an option to disable this feature, one option would be to extend the password lookout time.

if a Mac OSX Computer is in near - try iBackup Viewer.
This is free of charge and can read your backup.
and thats the main difference. Those tools are reading the saved Data in the backup
but itunes attempts to restore the data from the backup on your iphone. if there are any corrupted data in the backup - the backup restore goes wrong. this can happen during security software or wrong corrupt data already stored on the iphone.
if itunes messed up to restore from backup try this one :
- restore your iphone to factory settings using HT1808 or reset all settings and content direct from iphone
- rename your iPhone (e.g. iPhone Test)
- setup your iPhone as new device -> attempt to make a new backup - if successful -
- click in itunes on restore from backup... and choose your desired backup
or go to:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(Username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista - Windows 7: \Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Pull your complete BackupFolder and try a different PC - copy the BackupFolder on this different PC in the same Path above - start iTunes and see if your Backup is there - attempt to restore from Backup again

How do you prevent your phone from locking during voice calls? Mute/unmute features? Are there any? Please help?

Here is the problem - I am often on conference calls. My company, for security reasons requires that I use the lock phone feature. However, I will be on a call, I have muted myself, then the phone locks. I then have to key in my password, and unmute my phone. This prevents me from "jumping in" the conversation appropriately. I either sound like I'm not paying attention or worse, I'm talking over someone else and seem rude. I have tried to search for any of the following features on the iphone 5 c.
Prevent phone from locking during phone calls
Set a button on the phone as mute/unmute
Find a headset that has a mute/unmute feature
I am not the only one at my company struggling with this so I'm thinking others might be too and that there is a solution!

Sounds like you need to upgrade to the iPhone 5s
The 5s has Touch ID
You can unlock your phone with your finger instead of typing in a key code
No swiping to unlock either, just touch the home button
You can enrol multiple fingers as well

That being said, as desiel vdub posted if the phone is up to your face, the proximity sensor should turn the screen off
And when you lower the phone turn it back on again
Not sure about the phone locking when your on a call doesn't sound right

Phone locked during a call...not responsive

I got myself a 16gb iphone 3g but im experiencing problem now with the auto lock set to 1 minute. When i make a call and waited for 1 minute or 2..the phone auto locked itself. Though i pressed the home button few times but the display seems nt appearing. I've tried to reset the phone few times, at 1st the problem seems solved..Howevever, after i tried on more phone calls..the same situation occured again. Any one has any idea solving it and anyone experiencing same problem?

IOS 4.3 - screen locked during incoming call

Hello, all!
I have interresting problem after I update iOS 4.2 up to iOS 4.3 on my iPhone 4. Sometimes (1 time per each 10-20 times) when incoming call is received, ipone playing the ringtone, vibration is generated and I see on display usually information "incoming call from..." and slide button to receive call - then touch screen of iPhone becomes fully locked and I can not receive the call ! Hardware pushbuttons (power and volume control) still working, but display is fully locked! In this case it is only one way to answer the call - using bluetooth headset. Any other way and any other operations have no any effect - iPhone still playing rington and still waiting when I answer the call.
This situation occurs aproximately on every 10th or 20th incoming call - i.e. one or two times per each day. And, of cource, this is usually very important call that i can not answer because of this stupid situation.
The problem was detected after I update iOS 4.2 up to iOS 4.3 via iTunes.
So, please tell by wich way it is possible to fix this bug and where I have to send notification to solve this problem in the shortest time?

I'm experiencing what is I believe to be the same issue with my iPhone 4, and have been suffering in silence for about a week.
iPhone 4 model MC603X with Modem Firmware 04.10.01, 16Gb, cheap silicone cover, Vodafone NZ as my carrier.
My screen locks after 1 minute of inactivity as it should with my settings. Perhaps 1 call in 5, or 1 call in 10, the screen wakes up and displays called ID information etc correctly, but I cannot swipe to answer the call. The touch screen simply fails to respond.
If I push the power button briefly to silence the ringtone, this does not make a difference. The iPhone has to be locked (and screen turned off), then push a hardware button to wake up the display, and then I can swipe to unlock the device.
This is only since iOS 4.3 and unfortunately iOS 4.3.1 has not changed this behaviour.
Any advice appreciated.

After doing a call using headset ("Voice commands") controls locking up and i can't make a call again without grabbing phone and unlocking keypad.
It's very annoyind.
It's flip phone and keylock function is useless.
Is there any software update or something else that could solve that problem ?

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Is there a conference call/speaker phone made that is supported by iPhone?

Is there a 'conference call accessory available for iPhone that will provide good sound, in and out, in a small conference room?

I've not tried it yet, but some of my colleagues swear by the Jambox (by Jawbone) as something that works not only as a speaker but also as a speakerphone. It connects via bluetooth.
I'll probably borrow one for my next call and see if it works as well as they claim ;-)

If it's not locking automatically, there may be something wrong with your proximity sensor. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? It can't hurt.
You can also lock it by tapping the button on the top of the phone.

It sounds like you have a problem with the proximity sensor that turns the screen off when you are on the phone. Do you have a case on the phone? If you do, try taking the case off and test a call. See if the screen turns off when you bring the phone up to your ear. If it does, it is possible the case is blocking something in the proximity sensor which is not allowing it to work properly. If it still does not work after taking the case off, you can perform the user troubleshooting, power off/on, reset by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. If that doesn't work, then a restore, first from a backup and if needed then as a new device if necessary.

Is the phone silenced? Check the button on the side of the phone above the volume buttons if you see an orange line it is silienced, slide it to the front of the phone and it should correct this. Also ensure the volume is up. If you've checked these and still nothing are you able to call people? do you have service?

Will online number send call to phone with Freetal...

I am interested in online number but I can't enough information. I have a phone hooked to skype via freetalk with a subscription. With online number, can I receive calls on that phone?
What if I am logged in on mobile skype on my cell phone, which device will receive the call, cell phone or phone attached to freetalk?

If the friends who would call an Australian Online Number are outside Australia, they would be charged for an international call. An Australian Online Number could be useful for your friends or family that are in Australia. Depending on where they are in Australia, those calls could potentially be considered local calls.
If your German friends are not able to get on Skype, another option may be to get an Online Number in a different European country. Skype has Online Numbers from other countries where there is no requirement to be a local resident (the UK is one of them). This would still be an international call for your German friends, but maybe not as expensive to call somewhere else in Europe vs. Australia.

Screen Locking During Screen Share Access

When I access my iMac from another Mac using Screen Sharing my iMac system is then open for anyone walking by to access. Is there any way to use Screen Sharing for access and keeping the physical screen on the system being accessed locked? I know there are ways to do this using a third-party VNC, but that requres using a non-standard port for access. Is there some working-around for Screen Sharing, or perhaps some way to change the port that Screen Sharing is using (and if so, does this work?)???

Apple sign appears during a call iPhone 3Gs

During a call the phone freezes and the apple symbol appears, phone will not reset, by holding down any of the buttons, then after about 5 mins the screen appears again. Has been happening occasionally over the past month.

This could be a number of things, does it do it EVERY call and after a certain time? Do you regularly quit your multitasking applications to ensure the iPhone is not running too much.
You should also ensure you have the latest software on the phone (4.3.2) by updating and then testing. If the issue occurs after doing that it may be time for a Genius appointment at your local Apple Store. Is the phone still in warranty? Does it seem to be hotter?

Xperia Z1 speaker/mic issue when speaker phone switched on during call

when i switch on the speaker during a call the voice is garbled and the call receiver also complains of voice being not clear. Is this issue something other z1 users . pls advcie

I have a problem with the microphone as well, if i'm on a call and i try to hold my phone between my shoulder and ear in order to multitask, the person on the other end hears only garbled words and makes it impossible to not hold phone normally, I believe it's due to the pressure on the mic. Spoke to Sony about this and tried a complete reset of phone with no success. Was going to send it in to Sony for repairs, but they offer no loaner devices so I sent it in to Rogers as it's only 2 weeks old and under full warranty. Waiting to see what comes of it. Will repost upon return of phone.

Phone Cuts Off During Calls and Jumps to Facetime & Speaker Phone

My Mom's IPhone 4, during phone calls, constantly cuts off (doesn't register as dropped calls though,) jumps into facetime and jumps into speaker phone for no known reason. She has taken it to the Apple Store Support Team three times. The first time she was not treated nicely and was told nothing was wrong, the second time I went with her and they wiped her phone clean and started from scratch and the third time she bought a brand new phone. None of these options have worked and the problem persists. This is her fourth IPhone over three years of no major issues until now, so I don't see why this would just start happening for her in the last year. Are there similar issues like this in the community and does anyone have an idea how to solve it?

I'm sorry for misunderstanding you, but you said she went to the Apple store and the third time she bought a new phone. Did the new phone work then? Is the issue still persisting on the old device? That's where I'm confused. Did she get the device replaced or just buy a new phone and the problem is still happening on the old device.
