Device Manager and Firewall

Is DeviceManager.app a standard app in Mountain Lion, and if so, should it be included as a Login Item in Users and Groups, as it currently is in my MacBook?   I thought that was the name in Windows products, and I don't have any Windows OS on my Mac. Also, is it OK to set "deny incoming connections" for Device Manager in my FIrewall?  Thanks!

I responded earlier today to your question about malware. I have no idea why the host chose to delete it, but if you will come to the ClamXav Forum I can help you there. Please start with the following detailed information concerning what was found:
To get detailed infomation on what ClamXav has found, click in the top pane of the ClamXav window showing the Infection / File Name / Status to make sure it's in front and type the key combinations command-A, command-C (or choose "Select-All", "Copy" from the "Edit" menu) to copy the information to your clipboard, then come back here and type command-V or choose "Paste" to show us what was found where.

    hi athirah11,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices and check if the Bluetooth device is being listed.
    - Link to picture
    - Link to picture
    2. If the bluetooth device shows up under the Device Manager, do the following:
        a. Under Control Panel > Programs, uninstall the Bluetooth driver/software (reboot if necessary)
        b. Run the Bluetooth Driver Installer
         -  this will identify the type of Bluetooth Device installed on the system (eg. Qualcom Atheros, Intel, etc.) and it will install a generic Bluetooth driver. If successful, the Bluetooth device and its components should now appear normally under the Device Manager.
If the bluetooth device still doesn't show up, can you provide the model number of your G470 (eg. 59xxxxxx) fur further checking.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Graphics card installed in Pavilion p7-1210 and I can' t find it in device manager and no display.

I installed a Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 in HP p7-1210 (AMD A6-3620) and it did not show up in device manager and I get no video out of the card.  I am new at installing devices in computers so I don't know if  I did something wrong or not.  It seemed straightforward enough, plug the card into the slot and install the drivers but nothing happened.  I also installed a new Antec earthwatts 500 watt power supply at the same time, no problem.  All devices worked as before, just no video out of the Sapphire card, luckily, I still have the integrated video from the AMD processor.  What next?

look under scsi devices under the profiler.
Some SATA controllers use the same chipset as their scsi counter parts.
That is where my Acard SATA controller shows up.

  • Device Manager and Desktop Software fail to work after a profile migration

    Hi there,
I have just moved in a Windows Domain so I had to change my IP configuration. I have done a moveuser to move my local profile to the domain's profile. My Device Manager and, therefore, desktop software are not responding anymore. I keep receiving a message of ApploaderWEBSL-Upgrade[1].msi missing in the network location.... after a couple of hundreds of cancels, it goes away.
I have tried reinstalling the BB Original CD as an Domain Administrator selecting "4 all users". I have tried downloading the Windows Installer Cleaner. I have also tried to upgrade my device's software directly from the WEB. Finally, I have tried to "promote" my Windows Account as a Domain Admin.... nothing.
The poing is that if i log in as a Domain Admin, my device is automatically recognized by the device manager.... but I can't sink cause it's not my profile...
Everything was working before my domain enrolement and IP changes.... can anyone help me?
    Thanks a lot!
    Marcos.

Hello, The most common thing to do after an update that results in issues is to perform an OS reload. Sometimes, the update processes have errors and such...with a reload often curing the issues. The official methods, which will be controlled as to what exact OS versions you are offered:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-Functions-and/How-to-Reload-your-Blackberry10-O...The unofficial methods, which are cleaner, and allow you to choose an OS version that perhaps your carrier (or whoever it is controlling your offers) has been slow to approve:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/Of course, before you started anything, hopefully you already took a good backup via LINK, a manual copy of your Device Memory to your PC, and full documentation of your configuration (account credentials, added apps, configurations, etc.). Sometimes, restoring from a backup returns to the device the very corruption one needs to eliminate, and reconfiguring from scratch can resolve that. Good luck!

In case anyone else comes here looking for a solution, and the above doesn't work for them. I was trying to resolve the repeated instances of this in my log file, plus the effects of not having postgres running. I'm on OS X Lion Server, 10.7.5, on an XServe.
org.postgresql.postgres[18789]: postgres_real cannot access the server configuration file "/var/pgsql/postgresql.conf": No such file or directory

    sudo mv /var/pgsql /var/pgsql.OLD
    sudo -u _postgres  /usr/bin/pg_ctl initdb -D /var/pgsql
    sudo chmod 755 /var
This initialized the postgres setup and everything seems to be running happily now.

  • Satellite Pro L300: WLAN is not in device manager and is missing

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba L300 which I downgraded from Vista to WXP months ago. So I decided to stick with Vista and when I installed Vista the WLAN was missing in device manger and it didn't work. I tried downloading drivers adapters from Toshiba drivers download and still didn't work. Only my Ethernet is showing in device manager....btw I have a Realtek WLAN
Also,my VGA graphics card doesn't seem to update driver and when it does it says that the system is below minimum specs.
It's soo weird in WXP it was working fine..... Any solutions?

    >I tried downloading drivers adapters from Toshiba drivers download and still didn't work.
What does it mean exactly? Have you installed WLAN driver or not? Is WLAN card installed properly and listed in device manager as Realtek WLAN card?
    How to understand you?
Have you problems to install WLAN card or to configure WLAN connection?
If the WLAN card is installed properly enable the card with WLAN switch and then use FN+F8 key combination and be sure card is set to ON.
Which display driver you want to install? Which version?

  • URGENT Lenovo g550 webcam does not show up in Device Manager and all drivers cannot be installed

Hello everyone. So my lenovo g550 webcam stopped working after I did a clean install of windows 7 home. When I go under device manager I do not see any unknow devices. When I also go to show hidden devices it is not there. Could anyone give me information about how to fix this and if the cable to the webcam might be broken. If so, is there a way I could convert the webcam's pin outs to usb to test it. I have split an old usb cable into four colored spots. Not sure if i want to test it though. That would be my last resort. If needbe, can you tell me the pin outs for the webcam. It has five connectors. The reason I know this is usb is because my older installation on windows 7 detected it and said that the usb could be faster. Thanks.

Sorry about that. I've only been a member for a few days. I will remove the post with all Capps. Have a nice day!

  • Dv9913cl Notebook not showing DVD drive in system or Device manager, and more

I recently reinstalled the operating system on my stepfathers Pavillion dv9913cl notebook because it was slow and old. After I reinstalled windows I installed all of the drivers from HP's website, and made sure windows was completly up to date. I checked to make sure things on the computer worked, but I forgot to check the DVD drive.
So today when he went to put in a DVD it did not work. I was not present when he and my mom first tried using it, but this is what they passed on:
After putting in a DVD it took a few seconds and then something(I couldn't get them to tell me what) popped up saying something about the DVD region. I couln't get a clear answer on what it told them. My mother said something about it being the wrong region and something about selecting things like US English, and I don't know how what actually popped up for them. I also don't know were this path took them and ended.
Next apparently my mother went searching online. She found a Ask Yahoo that I couldn't relocate that told her to go into help, about windows media player. Then to go to Organize, then layout and show menu bar. Then step two she wrote down is About Windows Media Player -> tech.supportinfo. Specific File to determin codec. Right click file in Library - Properties on file tab - Audio Codec/Video Codec. (I don't know what she was attempting to do here and couldn't get a straight answer. I think the ask yahoo post told her she couldn't play the type of file because of a missing codec, but I dont think that is the problem, I inlcuded what she did though incase somehow it did something bad)
She did some other searching and tried to get into device manager I think to see what it said about the DVD device, but I am not 100%.
**So this is the poiny where I come home. I sit at the computer and pull up device manager.  The DVD device is not listed. I looked at every single entry in device manager, nothing has an exclamation point, and nothing says DVD/CD device or anything close.
I went to HP driver website and pulled up the drivers for this laptop. There was not a particular driver there for the DVD player.
I resarted and went into the BIOS and went to the boot order options. The DVD drive does show up there. (I made no changes)
When I insert a DVD or CD nothing happens. I can hear the drive spinning, but nothing happens on the OS. nothing pops up. It doesnt show up in my computer, and I can't find the DVD or CD to play through any program.
I found this support article. https://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
I tried all 5 of the resolutions. For resolution 3 I got to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, but in the right pane there was nothing that said either UpperFilters or LowerFilters. When I did some searching I found some other people who had similar problems and fixed it by doing what is suggested in resolution 3 and deleting the entries for UpperFilters and LowerFilters, but they were never there for me to begin with.
Now I am at a loss on what to do next. It seems like when he first put the DVD in the computer it was recognizing the DVD since it said something about DVD region it must have known a DVD was in there, but I never saw that screen. By the time I got to the computer nothing happens when I put any DVD or CD in.
I apologize for the long post, and thank you for any help that can be provided. (Also I don't use Windows, so please try and explain things as layman as possible.)

    Hello RonFishing,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand the computer appears to be unable to play DVDs, and the required driver in Device Manager is not found. My response will not be as long as your post, but I will do what I can to assist you!
I do not know what Windows operating system you are running. This will be important in resolving the issue. In the meantime, I welcome you to try the steps in this HP document: Resolving DVD and Blu-ray Movie Problems (Windows 7)
Even though the document is for Windows 7, the steps are similar amongst all versions of Windows. Please try the steps and let me know the results.
Thanks for choosing the HP Forums. Have a great day!

When I say No, it appears to not start at all. When I say Yes, it appears to try to start but I continually get errors as listed above for the Java ME Device Manager startup error.
After reinstalling the _10 version, things started to work again, so I suspect this is due to my removal of the an older version of the JDK.
How is the proper way to "update" without causing similar errors? Are the environment variable JAVA_HOME, JAVA2_HOME, or some other variable used to specify the JDK/JRE in use? I would rather not be forced to change my startup each time to specify a -jdkhome related parameter.
Should I install the new version, find install the "Java Platform" in the SDK/Netbeans, set it as
    Also...
How do you set the default version from within the SDK/Netbeans?
And is there a way to prevent the Device Manager from starting?

  • My internal webcam on HP EliteBook 8460w not detected in device manager and not detected by driver

    Hello all...
I just bought HP EliteBook 8460w, after I installed all the program and driver I find out that the internal webcam is not working. When I have check in the device manager the webcam is not listed. Then I tried to download the newest software/driver of it, it appears a message box that mention the webcam is not detected, please enable it from the bios. Then I checked from the bios, the webcam is not listed to be enable. Afterward, I was wonder maybe the bios is not up to date. Then I updated the bios, but still after I checked, the webcam is still not listed to be enable.
So please if anyone have the same experience or might know some answer or solution for it, I would be very happy to try. Its starting to get on my nerve.
    Thank you very much before....
    Cheers,
    Denmuh

Hi, I figured out how to get the camera working on my 8460w laptop.  I am running Windows XP SP3.  No guarantee this is what will fix yours, but here's what I did:
I installed these two drivers from the HP.COM site:
    First -HP Universal Camera Driver
    link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
Second -HP High Definition (HD) Webcam Firmware
    link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
Control Panel - System - Harware - Device Manager
Under Imaging Devices category, look for an existing camera device line.
    Uninstall this device.
Then after a few moments, Windows recognized the camera again and automatically installed it with the right drivers (since it is really just a device connected through an internal USB port).
    Hope this helps you too.

  • Lenovo T60 Modem has disappeared from device manager and reinstallation of modem driver fails

When using Earthlink/Dial-Up, the IE7 browser froze.  It had been working fine for about a month.  I rebooted the server and suddenly, Earthlink/Dail-Up stopped working.  In troubleshooting the issue, I found that the modem did not appear in Device manager.  After researching the Lenovo website, it indicated that I should reinstall the modem driver.  However, when reinstalling the modem driver, I get the error:  Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver.
I went into BIOS and hid/enabled the modem and that still did not work.
What am I missing or what should I do to resolve this issue?
    Thanks!

    Bump!
I have a similar situation. I am trying to install the modem and the downloaded driver setup says it cannot find the device. BIOS says "enable" (as opposed to "hide") but it is like the modem weren't there
    Thanks

  • VPN Device Manager and Java

I have VPN Device Manager installed on 1710, 1721 & 2691. In all cases, IE6 with JRE 1.3.1_02 & JRE 1.3.1_07 does not display correctly. Since JRE 1.3.1_07 seems to be the default with XP Pro & IE6, this is a problem. Some earlier JREs work ok.
Is there a list of versions of JRE/IE6 tested with VPN DM?

Check the Device manager page. Might contain the information that you are looking for:

  • Container Manager and firewall

There doesn't appear to be any documentation on this aspect of SCM so I'm hoping somone here will be able to help.
Essentially, I have two servers separated by a firewall. The usual SunMC ports are accessible between server and agent,
but unless the firewall rules are dropped I'm unable to create/copy zones in container manager.
Looking at the firewall logs, a number of server ports are accessed from the agent machine via UDP - one in the 10000
range and multiple packets to the 8900 range. Does anyone have a defacto list?

I responded earlier today to your question about malware. I have no idea why the host chose to delete it, but if you will come to the ClamXav Forum I can help you there. Please start with the following detailed information concerning what was found:
To get detailed infomation on what ClamXav has found, click in the top pane of the ClamXav window showing the Infection / File Name / Status to make sure it's in front and type the key combinations command-A, command-C (or choose "Select-All", "Copy" from the "Edit" menu) to copy the information to your clipboard, then come back here and type command-V or choose "Paste" to show us what was found where.

  • Windows 8.1 Mobile Device Management and SCCM 2012 R2 - 'Turn on' option missing

I am trying to test a virtual desktop with SCCM 2012 R2 integrated with Intune. There is no Configuration Manager client on the workstation, the Intune subscription is configured and enabled for Windows enrolment, AD is synchronizing with Intune, DNS has
the enrolment record added and resolves, the user can logon to Intune from the client using Internet Explorer and the client has had the registry key added with the DiscoveryService  configured to manage.microsoft.com. The problem is that on
the 8.1 workstation in Workplace Settings the only option is 'Join' and the 'Turn-on' option is missing. How do I get it to appear?

Yes I am using an activated version of 8.1 Enterprise, it is in a workgroup and I am logged in as a member of the local Administrator's group but not Administrator. I even joined the domain again and then removed it. Still there is only the 'Join'
option and no 'Turn on' option. This is driving me nuts.
