Device Not Recognized - Take to Apple Genius Bar

OK, many have now spent hours on the Apple and Windows support sites and performed all of the restores, reboots deletes and reinstalls. We still get a problem with a message that the device is not recognized or the nano connects and immediately disconnects.
Sending the nano back to Apple doesn't help because the nano works fine. The computer works fine and the USB ports work fine when hardware (e.g., printer) other than nanos/plug and play type devices are plugged.
The one common issue is this has happened since the recent iTunes update, highly suggesting that this is a software glitch between Apple and Windows (all versions, Vista, XP, and older).
So, if the problem is happening on a laptop, make an appointment at the Genius Bar and bring in both the nano and the computer so they can see and work with it directly. (Apple has responded to many that it cannot recreate the problem.)
Also, if this is happening to you, please post to this forum so Apple can see how consistent and pervasive the problem is.
Finally, if more than one computer has the iTunes update, I'd suggest not plugging the nano into computers where the USB port is working or you may find that other plug and play devices are not recognized on that computer either.

It depends upon the nature of the problem as to whether you should get an appointment at the Genius Bar or call AT&T Customer Care (call 611). There can be network issues and such that are plainly an AT&T concern. At least in the past, there have been "AT&T" iPhone support people who are actually Apple employees who answer the phone when one of the regular customer care people passes you off.
On balance, you will probably wind up at the genius bar because they have they ability to check the hardware to see if there is a problem with it and can reset the phone if need be.
