Device password incorrect

I keep trying to install BBB and the device manager - every time I'm asked to enter my device password ... the one that I have no problem whatsoever entering to unlock my phone ... it tells me I've entered an incorrect password.  What the heck?

Yes, the volume of posts versus the number of people answering and the hours in a day, a person may get an answer within a day, hopefully, but sometimes not.
Anyway, I'm pleased you figured it out. That is a common error. Good that that's all it was.

This is just a helpful post for a user that doesn't know the best methods to get your device working again without hard resetting device because they forgot their systems password for their device.  The following video is a method that has worked for users and should be a helpful bit of knowledge..
    Hope this helps..

There is no way to reset the password, however, if you enter the password incorrectly 10 times it will wipe the BlackBerry and let you set it up as new.

  • "password incorrect" when trying to connect to wifi

I can successfully connect to my WPA2 encoded wifi connection from many different devices in the household. One of the iPhone4s' cannot connect though, after entering password, it very quickly comes back with an alert "Password incorrect for [endpoint name]". It can happily connect to any other wifi network. An other iPhone4s can succesfully connect. I have tried most of the voodoo tricks listed here (entering wi-fi password with quotes, resetting phone network settings, restarting router), to no avail. Which device should I be returning?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Z10 Device Password Reset

    Problem:
Hi, while trying to change my current picture password, I had to confirm my current device password which my password is continually dubbed incorrect for both my Blackberry device and Blackberry link. I currently am unable to access my phone and files and despite being 100% certain the password I'm entering is correct (it's worked in the past), I don't want to exhaust the number of login attempts.
    Problem History:
This is the second time this has happened, with all of my data being erased after the first time. I have tried resetting my password through my online profile, but the change does not affect either the phone or Link.
Is there a way I could reset my device password? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    There is no way:

  • I can't access my ipad password incorrect

Help!  Everytime I open my ipad, a message comes up that says: Password Incorrect.  Enter the password for the Hotmail account "Hotmail".  I've tried my hotmail password - no luck.  I've tried old passwords, new passwords, passwords for my itunes, passwords for my ipad...  no luck.  I can't access anything on my ipad until I enter the correct password.  HELP!!!

Something sounds very wrong... I'd recommend restoring the device if you can't access ANYTHING at all. Or try and make a booking for an Apple Retail Store if there's one near you.
Restoring obviously isn't a prime option, but if you can't access anything, it may be the only one really, if you can access the settings you can delete and re-add the account, which would fix that 'Enter Password' message

Do you have an Exchange account through your place of employment? Quite often the administrator or IT person will set up passcodes for devices that have employer exchange email accounts on them. If your account is work related, check with your employer for the code.

  • HT203808 Keep getting Apple ID or password incorrect message, have changed it about a dozen times, cannot update apps.

I am unable to use icloud, itunes, etc.  When I enter my password, I get Apple ID or password incorrect message.  I have tried changing it multiple times to no avail.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried deleting the account from your device and then signing back in again.

  • ICloud keeps saying username and password incorrect.

One minute fine, now all my devices have the same issue. Cannot Get Mail and then asking for password. Anyone else? Only way to retrieve email is online and the password works. ugh

Same problem here.  I just switched to iCloud from MobileMe this weekend and it's been an absolute nightmare.  MobileMe always worked fine.  Here is what my problems have been so far.
    1) After switch to iCloud - Mail.App on Lion worked fine, iPad and iPhone worked fine.  Outlook 2010 on Win 7 refused to connect, kept asking me for user name and password.  Read like 100 articles of people with same problems.  Checked server settings, checked SSL setting, blah blah..  Nothing worked..  Finally, tried the suggestion of setting a new password.  Sweet, that worked!!  All was well again.
    2) Fast forward a day - Outlook 2010 on Win 7 refuses to connect again.  iPad, iPhone work, Mail.App gave same error as Outlook once, re-entered password, all was well.  I was able to log into iCloud.com and see mail as well.  Again, reset my password after hours of screwing with it.  All was working again.
    3) Last night, checked my mail from my iPhone.  )(&$)(&@$)(&!#, Username or password incorrect.  WRONG..  Go into settings, set my password, it comes back with the three checks for validating the password, it can see my storage, everything else iClould related works just fine.  Open mail, bad username or password.
    4) Woke up this morning, same problem still.  Now, if I go to iCloud.com and log in, I get a failure to open mail if I try to use mail, just get an error that mail has failed to load and do I want to report it to Apple.  Still gives same  error on iPhone.  Yet, get this..  Works just fine in Outlook 2010.  Can send and receive mail no problem.  I tried deleting my account on the phone and readding it, turning mail off and on.  Everything works except mail still.
    HELP!!!!!   This blows...

  • Syncing with Microsoft Exchange, "Password Incorrect"

New iPhone user here.  Currently use Google for email, contacts and calendar and am trying to use Google Sync to keep email, contacts and calendar up to date on my iPhone.  However, when I create an Exchange account on the iPhone and enter in all the pertinent info (Google user name, password, etc.), it seems to verify the info okay but after I hit "Save" I keep getting the message "Password Incorrect, Enter the password for the Exchange account "Exchange."  Entering my Google password does not help and this message keeps popping up.  I've tried deleting all accounts, including Gmail and iCloud and then creating the Exchange account again, but this doesn't help.  I've seen several others with this problem when Googling the error message but no real solution.  Tried turning the phone off and back on also.  Any ideas on how to get this working?
    Thanks so much!!!

It looks like Sean Greenlee's response was spot on. My IT guy found an article on removing the phone partnership.
Per him, "You can use the remote wipe command to delete
a mobile device partnership from the Exchange server. This action, which is primarily useful for "housekeeping" purposes, will delete from the Exchange server all states that are associated with a specified device. If a user tries to connect a mobile device
to the Exchange server after the partnership between the mobile device and the Exchange server has been deleted, the mobile device user will be forced to re-establish the partnership with the Exchange server."
He completed the remote wipe today, I removed my account, re-started the phone and re-installed the account and everything seems to be working.
    Best of luck.

  • "Wifi password incorrect".  Authenticating......PROBLEMS!!!  Our Razr M is crazy!

We have a Razr Maxx.  A few months back the wifi would not connect only at our home.  Outside, it would connect to other available wifi resources.  We contacted Verizon.  They say contact our ISP..We have a DSL line with HawaiianTel.  They walk us through the whole modem/wireless router setup/reset.  My Droid Ultra has no problem connecting to the wifi at home.  The Razr Maxx still wont connect saying that the password entered is incorrect.  HawaiianTel sends us a new modem/wireless router.  We set it up.  Laptops in home connect with no problem.  My Droid Ultra connects...no problem.  Razr Maxx??  Big problem.  It "sees" the connection but says password incorrect.  We contact Verizon.  They are clueless.  They put us in contact with Motorola Tech Support.  They do an over the air connect to the phone.  They, too, go through all procedure and cannot connect.  They say to mail them the phone.  A few weeks later the phone returns.  A note says hardware change.  I, personally, take out the internet connection already existing at home and redo all.  Everything connects.  Raxr Maxx...no connect.  I keep trying for an hour.  All of a sudden....success!!  Wifi available and connected.  Everything good.  Last night, 1-22-14, the Raxr Maxx shows no wifi.  We go through everything.  All laptops enjoying great connection.  Droid Ultra has great connection.  Razr Maxx goes on a trip away from home today.  It connects to other wifi.  What the heck is going on?  Can anyone answer this?  We are using Windows 7 Home Premium.  The wireless Network Adapter is a RealTek RTL8187SE Wireless LAN Adapter.  The Modem is a Motorola modem with built in wireless.  It is a DSL connection. We are using WPA2/Personal  for secure access.  All other devices in the home can connect.  The Raze Maxx sees the wifi connection and others,,,but will not connect.  I challenge all you supertechs with this one.

Someone on a different wiFi thread suggest this:
"I had the same issue. After receiving a replacement phone that did the EXACT SAME thing, I dug a little deeper. I had already scoured the discussion boards and not seen the fix. Then on a whim, we tried going to Motorola website. Come to find out, Motorola KNOWS of the issue. It is a compatability issue with Realtek wireless adapters on VISTA, Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 The fix is simple. Google realtek adapter and download the latest driver for your operating system. Windows 8 is from 1-15-14 I believe. Then you might have to change the settings on your adapter in the connections center of your computer to b/g not b/g/n. reboot and try. So far so good on mine."
I have no idea if this will help, just passing on what i read.

  • Baffled - 9300 setting up email - user - password incorrect error message

I hope someone here can shed some light ofn this because I've spent 3 weeks trying to resolve and I'm still stuck after literaly hours on the phone to the network provider and exploring every possible potential cause.
About three weeks ago I upgraded my BB from Curve 9300 to 9380.  I copied settings using desktop software and transferred over to my new device.  All apps reinstalled fine and I set five email accounts including 3 (business emails) provided through a hosting account with Media Temple.  These all work fine and still do.
My old phone was to be given to a colleague, so I reset the device and put all setting back to default and followed the process indicated for a new SIM.  When we tried to set up email on the old device (9300) it wouldn't work giving an error message stating unable to verify account contact email provider.  I am the administrator of the email accounts so I know that the settings are correct., the network provider reset all settings for email etc and BIS account details  etc are all correct.  The email account works through outlook and can be accessed via webmail and we've tried password change and even deleted and set a new email account up but still the same problem - error message stating user or password incorrect.
I hoped that this was a problem with the settings on the old device (9300) which we could pin down and resolve however it seems not to be as now when I try to set up a new email account on my new device (9380) I get the same problem!!  User password error - when the details entered are 100% correct and on a device which I successfully set up the same type of email account !!
I'm completely stumped and if anyone has or is experiencing a similar problem and has any info on this or has managed to resolve, I'd like to hear from you as I've explored everything I can think of with network and email hosts.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need to call your provider to inquire if the 9300 is properly registered on their network and to the SIM card account in the device. They need to confirm the correct BlackBerry Data Plan on that account, it is not uncommon for them to mistakenly not do this or provision the incorrect data plan,.

  • How to Stop "Password Incorrect" Prompt for Exchange

OK, first off, please don't say "enter the correct password". I am, but my company's Exchange server is having some issues and it's not accepting requests from the iPhone (or other ActiveSync devices).
As such, I'm getting the popup/prompt that says "Password Incorrect". When my company fixes their end, I'm sure it'll be fine, but for now, how do I get it to stop popping up? Doesn't matter if I hit "Cancel" or "OK", it just comes back 10 seconds later. I've turned off PUSH and FETCH, so I don't know why it's still making requests to the server.
This is getting really annoying. I can't type a SMS message, surf the web, or listen to my music without it getting in my way every 10 seconds. I've tried rebooting the phone, but that did nothing.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Well I never setup an Exchange account, but with other accounts, when you go into Settings, then Mail, Calendar etc Settings. I can go into any of my mail accounts setup and there is a flip switch to just turn off. It leaves all the settings to be there later when you turn that account back on, but turning it off fully removes it from the Mail app.

  • IPad 2 stuck in endless "Password Incorrect" loop

I haven't used my iPad 2 in a month or two.  Since then, an email account that I used to use on the the iPad has been changed, and I don't have a way to answer the "Password Incorrect - Enter the password for the Exchange account "..."" question.  This is a seriously poorly designed feature if the entire device is unusable if this question can't be answered.

Thanks very much.  That did it.
BTW, I guessed when I listed 5.0.1 as the current iOS.  I'd forgotten that this device had not been upgraded.  I plugged it in, started iTunes, and let it do the upgrade to 5.0.1.  After restarting, the iPad asked me once more for the email account's password.  I hit 'cancel', then quickly went into settings to delete the mail account.
I'm lucky I had my laptop close by.  If I'd been away, say on a business trip, I would've been screwed.  I'm just amazed that not having the current password handy for one of the 4-5 mail accounts I'd configured on this device would cripple the entire thing.  I don't believe my Android phone would ever do such a thing.  Yes, I don't have an Android tablet, but I can't imagine that type of device would lock me completely out like this.

I have updated my iOS and now my hotmail will not verify my password through apple mail app.  I have reset password - tried new password and old password and it still gives me password incorrect.  Hotmail works fine on Mac.  Has anyone had this difficulty and been able to resolve it?

Did you try deleting the mail account, then adding it back?   I've read a lot of times that is what needs to happen in order for it to work properly.

After I upgraded to Mavericks I was also having this message when I tried to update. There was a previous post about this problem which offered this simple solution which worked for me:

Got it! Thanx.  What I did was go to my account, check that they had my new ID and Password which they did, then hit reset button. All fixed.
