  • Problems upgrading to device software 5.0.0.973 on Storm 2 - had to downgrade to 5.0.0.497 again

    I recently had my Storm 2 handset replaced under warranty.  In going through the process of updating/synchronising the new handset to my Outlook, I had problems with both Calendar and Contacts. 
    The Calendar problem turned out to be related to Contact anniversaries. I opened the contact, removed the birthday, saved the record and then added it back and saved it again.  The record then synced.
    I had problems syncing contacts that had no email address in Email 1, but did have an email address in Email 2.  Once I moved those email addresses into the Email 1 field they synced ok.
    Then the Desktop Manager told me to update the device software to version 5.0.0.973.  I went through the whole process and then checked the phone.  Calendar seemed to be ok, but all the contacts were gone - there was only one contact showing with about 360 duplicates.  I tried to resync with 'replace data' ticked and it made no difference.  I then deleted one of the many entries on the handset and they all disappeared at once.  So I created a manual contact entry on the handset and saved it - which also showed up as many pages of duplicate entries.
    Next day, I synchronised my husband's Storm 2.  Desktop Manager told me to upgrade his device software, which I did... with exactly the same result as I got with mine.
    I have now downgraded both handsets back to 5.0.0.497 and resynchronised to Outlook (one way from Outlook to Device, replacing all data) and both handsets are now operating properly.
    I am using Desktop Manager 5.0.1 having upgraded to V6 and then having to downgrade to V5 again when it would not synchronise with Outlook.
    Not happy with RIM for pushing 'upgrades' that fail and cause hours of work to restore to something that works.

    RIM doesn't push the upgrades -- your service provider does so, once they have certified and approved the operating system upgrade for their devices.
    But, .973 does work on the 9520 in the manner you wish it would, I've used it myself on that model.

  • Upgraded 8350i to device software 4.6.1.313 and got many problems

    is anybody else having problems with device software 4.6.1.313? i loaded on my 8350i and started having problems including browser crashes one of which caused a device reboot. i downgraded back to 4.6.1.204 and now all is well. what the heck?

    Did you remove your media card when upgrading? Incompatible themes/apps can also cause issues and sometimes an error may have occured during the upgrade process so reloading the OS again may help.

  • Rington problems after upgrading device software

    I just upgraded my 8230 with device software 4.6.1.284.  When it came back on it did not show ringtones that I had downloaded in the list.  They were still there but did not show up in the list.  They had bee saved on a memory card.  Now when I download a new one I have to do a battery pull to get it to show up in the list.  Any ideas?

    read your memory card using the following link.
    use Windows Explorer, and display hidden & system files.
    on the memory card, delete all the files named BBThumbs.dat . There should be one in every non-empty folder. then open the media application and let the indexation work.

  • Problem trying to upgrade my device software

    I'm trying to updated my device software but all the time I try it it's says that I'm have a telefonic access to active networks, close them n try again, but I turn off all the connections and the exact same message keeps prompting. Can someone help me with this issue because I don't find any info that helps me. Thx

    Hi!   Not sure what telfonic connections you have ....but did you try unconnecting them then pulling the battery for at least a minute and putting it back in?
    Might just need to boot without the connections.

  • BIG PROBLEM: 6.0 Device Software Update 2921 (Restore Progress Stalled)

    Updating to the latest Device Software and Its hanging on the Restore Progress. Content Store 163 of 541 items but the bar is one square away from the end, and its a not moving. No movement on Phone either, just frozen with PC to Phone connect image. Suggestions?
    Could it be frozen? and if so what do you do inorder to not corrupt your phone?

    decided to unplug and reboot by removing battery. desktop manager said update successfull but needed to restore application and data. did that and all fine now.

  • My Ipod touch screen will not come  up unless I conect it to the computer. It never gets past the apple logo and never fully retores? My screen is crackd a little at the bottom. Is this a screen or software problem?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    I was trying to update device software using latest ovi suite and suddenly my device stop working.
    nowitsnot able to switch on...and while i tried to installing software..i also got 12017 error..
    please help me ..my cell is dead now

    Sorry to know about your problem.. In absense of the knowledge about which Phone do you have, not sure how much this resource will be helpful. If nothing works ( The resets will not work on S40 phone) the ONLY place to get it working again is Nokia Care...

  • Need Help...Do I have The mother of all itunes software problems???

    I am in desperate need of help. I have fried three new ipod touches in two days. I Purchased a new 32GB 2d Gen ipod touch on Mon. 11/24. Worked okay till Friday 11/28. When I tried to sync with new additions, a warning came up “the ipod could not be updated, an unknown error occurred (9)” That was followed by a windows vista windows warning “USB device not recognized”
    When I disconnected the touch I found that it could not be started. Tried a forced restore pressing the sleep switch and the home button together. That did not work.
    Brought the touch to my apple store genius bar on Saturday and they too couldn’t get it to work. They switched out the ipod with a new one. Brought the new one home connected it and it received the new ipod touch software download okay. But when it tried to sync the same problem repeated…the two pop up warnings as before and a second dead ipod!
    I then synced my ipod classic with no problems, so it appears the itunes software is okay. I’ve scheduled another appointment with the local apple store genius bar again.
    When I took the new fried touch back to the Apple genius bar, it was switched out again. It was activated (by the initial step ipod touch software download on their computer.
    I brought my laptop with me so we could test the syncing. The syncing proceeded initially for several minutes, and then the dreaded pop up warnings appeared
    “the ipod could not be updated, an unknown error occurred (9)” That was followed by a windows vista warning “USB device not recognized”
    The new replacement ipod touch was also fried.
    The tech gave me yet another new ipod touch. He had never encountered such a problem and advised me delete and reinstall itunes and call the APL CARE 800 support number and go over the problem with one of their techs who have a broad range of experience in dealing with possible PC related issues.
    As my other ipod has no problem syncing from the same laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520 using Vista) I am wondering if the problem might be a corrupted Itunes software problem that affects only the touch and not the ipod classics.
    Has anyone heard of a bad itunes software related problem? I googled this and could find no info. Thanks for your help!

    If you click View, Show Sidebar you will see the other libraries under Shared in the left hand column. Click on the Library you want and you can expand it to select Music, Movies etc. Select whatever items you want and click import if you want to move them to your Library.
    You will have to have all computers authorised with the relevant Apple ID's
    Store  >  Authorise this computer...
    This is separate from the Home Sharing username and password and is to allow playing of DRM Movies, TV shows etc from the other computer.
    If both Computers use the same apple id this step is not required.

  • Windows xp and getting rid of all blackberry software problems

    I am having major problems just uninstalling
    -Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0.1
    -Blackberry Device Software updater
    -Blackberry Device Software v4.5.0 for the Blackberry 8310 smartphone
    -Blackberry Device Software v5.0.0 for the Blackberry 9700 smartphone
    Using the Add/Remove in Control Panel gets me a Windows Installer msg that says
    "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
    "Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "Blackberry
    Desktop Software.msi in the box below"
    Then in the "Use Source" is a path from a C temp folder.
    Please help, I've tried reinstalling where I found the zip folder from what I thought was from the initial download/install but it had an error too.  I can't find the 5.0.1 anywhere online to download and reinstall to be able to uninstall it.
    Please someone help me.

    Okay, I scrolled down to additional info and I have these questions:
    1. What version of the Blackberry Desktop Software should I be installing and where to find it?
    2. I am not running Vista or Windows 7 - I am running XP so #2 doesn't apply to me.
    3. Do I need a "clean startup of Windows" to uninstall or will it give me the missing file?
    I have seen this link to this page at least a 100 times today. It seems to be the standard answer for the issue but I don't see where it actually helps me solve the problem on XP. 
    I'm not a novice user but I'm in no way an expert either.

    When I input in: Menu -> Messaging -> Others messages -> Flash message and click "Back", phone is restarting.

    Yes the 7.20 is released & available (but depends on the region / service provider).
    Vist http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update & see whether your device can be upgraded (by entering the Product Code)

  • Curve 8900 Device Software for Rogers - CORRUPT INSTALL FILE

    Hello all,
    I was wondering if anyone else ran into this issue (if there's some Rogers BlackBerry people on this board). I tried downloading and running the device software for Rogers off the BlackBerry site and during the installation, I came across the following error:
    "Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a netowkr error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."
    When I try clicking ignore, I get this message:
    "Error 2350. FDI server error"
    I wish I was good enough to know what this means, but I'm completely lost here. I've tried installing this on two computers (XP Home SP2) and Vista, both give me the same problem.
    I get the feeling there may be an issue with the software on the site. Could anyone else confirm this or have an idea of what to do?

    There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
    Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:
