Device stuck in Arabic

Hoping somebody out there can help me.
I'm an administrator for an enterprise level deployment of about 1000 users and we keep bumping up against a nagging problem. The users keep managing to activate the language shortcut and changing the input language to Arabic.
Normally we disable the function when we send the devices out, but if the user has to reactivate the device it gets turned back on.
We've come up with a fudge where we send a numeric password from the server and tell the users which buttons to press to unlock the device and then use the language shortcut to get it back into English, however, if the device is saying enter "blackberry" to continue we're stuck.
The only way we can get round it is to wipe the device, remove the user account from the server and start from scratch. Sometimes if the device is off the network even this doesn't work and we have to get the user to send the device back to us. We don't deploy the desktop software it's too much hassle keeping it up to date.
To my mind there has to be a key sequence that equates to "blackberry" that will get us in to a position where our numeric password trick will work. Does anybody know what it is?

I've got the same problem. Can anyone help? Did you find a solution?

  • LMS 4.2 - DFM devices stuck in "Learning" state

    Hi,
Does anybody know why this same kind of bug/error/software fault exist in LMS 4.2 as it was in LMS 3.2 ? Why after a while after discovery of devices (state is "Known") DFM drops the state of devices to "Learning" and it stucks forever. Restarting of daemon manager helps for a short time. It looks like the processing of faults stops a while after discovery is complete.
LMS 4.2 is running on Solaris 10, connected to other LMS in DCR Slave configuration.

The connection between the ciscoworks GUI and the DFM repository is not 'optimal', or something like that. It's complicated.
What could cause the behavior you mention however, is either someone rediscovering devices that are still in learning state, or the presence of multiple active rediscovery schedules.
You may even delete all schedules excepts the default redisovery schedule which you can/should suspend. If the problem then stays away you know what caused it.
At this stage any device that really changes must be rediscoverd in DFM manually.
I think Admin -> Fault takes you to a page showing the schedule, if not lookup 'fault rediscovery schedule' in the help.
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Device Stuck in "All Learning Devices in Inventory Services"

    LMS Version 4.2.5
one 6509 stuck in "All Learning Devices in Inventory Services"
*** Data Collector Status Information ***
     Discovery Progress    = 10% completed
     Error Code                   = N/A
     Error Message             = N/A
I have remove this device and add again, and also adjust the snmp timeout ,this device still stuck in learning state.
But,this device inventory collection and config archive function is ok.
Is this a bug,or how can I do next?

Is it happening just for a single device ?
are all the other devices are in KNown status .
Any firewall between this device and LMS ?
    Thanks-

  • Newly Imaged Devices Stuck in Provisioning Mode, why?

I've imaged a few new devices with an OSD built into MDT 2013 on SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 and they get stuck in provisioning mode once I'm able to log in.
The following articles explain the issue and a workaround:
    http://www.toolzz.com/?p=1278
    http://www.danielclasson.com/how-to-force-an-sccm-2012-client-out-of-provisioing-mode-during-osd/
I'm more concerned with why this is happening and how I can stop it from even happening as I am starting to suspect that the "Install Software Updates" task is causing this symptom.
I'm attaching a sample smsts.log to show an error I keep seeing:

There's not a lot you can do there, Office simply isn't designed to be serviced offline necessarily. If you have the MSP files though, simply adding them to the Updates folder of the Office installation files will cause them to be installed automatically
with no additional configuration. There's no easy way to get all of the MSP files (to my knowledge) except for downloading them one by one from Microsoft Update.
I've never seen office updates cause issues in a TS though so the traditional method works also.
    Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | @jasonsandys
It just might be risky because the Software Update task might grab some new update that requires 2 reboots.
I'll just need to create a new base image as I pre-installed Office on it, but moving forward I'll look into using MSP files.

  • Device stuck in fastboot mode

in fastboot mode..... but when i send the reboot command, it boots back to fastboot mode.... Any ideas how to get out?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You will be stuck in fastboot if you have failed to flash an img file.  You will have to boot a boot.img file using fastboot then download the last update to get your tablet back to normal.
Download the following file onto your computer...
    K1_A301_03_03_110829_US.zip
Then unzip on the computer.  You will see a file named "boot.img".  Make sure your tablet is connected to the computer and you have the fastboot binary.  Then run the following command in the directory you just unzipped the file
    fastboot boot  boot.img
This will allow you to boot up your tablet but the bootloader will STILL be stuck in fastboot.  Therefore you will have to update your system.  Download the same file above into the Download directory of your tablet.  Rename it to update.zip.  Dowload the following XML file...
    K1_A301_03_03_110829_US.xml
and rename it to update.xml (NOTE: the system file manager won't let you change the extension so just rename to "update".  Power off the tablet.  Then hold down the Volume + key and hold down power button until it comes on.  That will boot the system into recovery and install the update.  In a few minutes you will be restored and your tablet will work normally.  NOTE: YOU MAY LOSE YOUR DATA and may have to reinstall your apps.
If your boot partition isn't a mess like mine was, you may be able to just flash the system partition from the above zip file by using...
    fastboot flash system system.img
    fastboot reboot
The key is that a fastboot flash must be successful in order for your device to boot normally.
    Good luck.

  • Installing Devices Stuck at 98%

    Good morning!
I've recently taken control of my company's MDT server and we're running into issues with certain Windows 7 x64 deployments not finishing on our HP Z420's. We know the .wim is fine because we don't always have problems installing, all HP Z400's finish successfully
    and a few 420s too.
Essentially the workstation is imaged and begins the first reboot within the task sequence. After that the BDD.log stops updating, and somewhere between 3% and 98% it will hang. The white light splash screen continues to animate but never finishes. After
booting into a PE we can see all the Windows files on D: but is never moved to C:.
Unfortunately I'm unable to upload the BDD.log, not that there are any errors after comparing line-by-line a successful 420 image vs an unsuccessful one. So far I've checked the network end to end, ensured drivers are in the deployment, and flipped dozens
of settings in the BIOS in hopes of getting them to work as they're supposed to.
Any assistance would be most appreciated, I'm still learning the toolkit but we'd like to get things up and running sooner than later.
    Thank you!!
    DD

    Figured it out by myself.
Turns out one of the last devices to be installed is the USB optical mouse which would sit there forever trying to complete. No errors, and never completes.
If anybody runs into the same type of thing check %windowsdir%\inf\setupapi.dev.log
For me, the last lines were along the lines of <     dvi: Set selected driver complete.
ndv: Driver selected, no performing install...
ndv: Waiting for previous device install to complete.
Unsure of why this happens but we've got a workaround where the affected mice types (from HP) are unplugged until the Windows 7 login screen comes up.

  • DFM device discovery issue "Devices stuck in Questioned state"

    Hi
We have LMS 3.0.1 installed with DFM 3.0.4 The devices are showing Questioned with Error code "SNMP timeout" with no specific reason. The snmpwalk is coming for the device as I checked with snmpwalk command. The only device discovered as"known" has ICMP permitted from Server to device and no other device has. They only have SNMP permit. Can this affect the dicovery?? or what else can I try....Please suggest!!
    Rgds

Yes. DFM requires that all devices be both SNMP and ICMP reachable. DFM uses ICMP to verify reachability to all IP addresses on the device. However, at the very least, the address by which you manage the device MUST be ICMP reachable.

  • Device stuck on initial screen when turns on

I picked up my tablet yesterday. This morning i realized that it wont get recharged if it is OFF. So i put it to recharge with the power ON, after  the charge was complete, i turned it OFF. After a couple of hours i turned it ON again and it got stuck on the initial screen that says "blackberry playbook" and a bunch of circles on the background changing colors. I turned it ON and OFF several times but it did the same, basically it is locked in that stage. Please advise.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hold down the power button for at least one minute, or until it turns off.  If that does not work hold down the volume button, next to the power button, and then the power button until it turns off.
Mine did the same thing attempting to update.
When it shuts down, leave it off.  Get the latest version of desktop manager on your computer.  Run it on the computer, then plug the playbook into the computer.  It should wake up and allow you to update to version 1705, or the latest, assuming you did not get that far.  When done power it down and back up to complete the install.
On wake up it may not allow you to connect to your wireless network, and be stuck at that screen.  Make it open and publ, or go to a place where there is an open public wireless network.  Then connect, complete the setup process and do the bridge connection to your blackberry.
As yet I have not been able to figure out how to get it connect to a protected network, but the unit is working.  For network access I am using the bridge network connection for now.

  • Tasks to iOS devices stuck sending in Profile Manager

I am managing about 30 iPads and 10 iPhones through Profile Manager.
I installed iOS 7 on a freshly wiped iPad and enrolled it with the server and everything works as expected (including locking, updating info, pushing settings, etc)
I then updated an already enrolled iPad from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 7. Everything appears to still be intact (all settings, apps, profiles, etc) but it will not longer accept commands (lock, clear passcode, push settings, etc) from the Profile Manager. When I try to send a task it just shows sending and never fails or completes. The iPad has internet access (it is on the same wifi network as the above mentioned iPad that is working fine)
Other already enrolled devices that have not yet updated to iOS 7 seem to complete tasks (Update info) just fine.
I was running 10.8.4 with OS X Server 2.2.1 when this began, and have since updated to 10.8.5 and Server 2.2.2 with no change in behavior.
How can I troubleshoot why this iPad is not completing commands. I'm worried that as my users update to iOS 7 other iPads will not recieve commands and I will need to have them re-enroll with the server in order to manage them. (Which I would like to avoid if possible)

I've already asked people to hold off on updating, but without any way to prevent them from updating, I just have to hope...
I installed the iPCU and have looked at the console but I'm not seeing anything relevant. It's like the the command isn't being recieved by the iPad at all (even though Profile Manager shows it as sending, the iPad has internet access, and another iPad on the same network has no problem recieving commands)
Looking at the logs on an iPad that is receiving commands (the iPad with a fresh iOS 7 install, enrolled with Profile Manager after iOS 7 was installed)  I see entries related to MDM:

Somehow my machine thinks I want to read TechNet in Arabic now.  So even when I remove the 'ar-SA' suffix, it puts it back. And of course I can't read Arabic to switch the language back. I had to use an old machine just to get this message off. I need
to know how to switch it back to English as I use TechNet daily.
    Thanks in advance,

The problem is caused by "filters" in the registry.

I am trying to set up our old Ricoh Afficio C2050 on our new iMacs running Mountain Lion 10.8.4.  When I try to "add" the printer, it automatically recognizes the prnter, downloads the software and starts the process of "Setting up 'RICOH Aficio MP C2050".  The problem is that it gets hung up on this screen and never actually finishes setting it up.
Does anyone have any thoughts about what might be going on?
    Thanks -
    Doug

    Update to the question above...
I was able to get the printer configured, but now have another problem.
When I send a print to the printer, it starts by "looking for printer", seems to find it.  Then it says "Connecting to printer", but then it get's hung up on a screen that says "Printing - the printer is not responding".
It just stays on that screen and doesn't do anything.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Updating to iOS 6 Bricked my device!!

I tried to update to ios 6 from ios5.In the middle it showed error 23 and my device stuck in DFU or Recovery mode. I tried everything wrote on apple support uninstall security softwares, chage USB port etc. Then I Tried to restore to iOS 5 but then it showed The device is't eligible for the requested build .Then again I tried to RESTORE to iOS 6 it showed error 26 but when I looked at my device it was at the iOS 6 startup it shows "Update Completed The iphone was updated successfully. There are just few more steps to follow. Then you've finished!.     Then I pressed continue & it shows the same picture as in recovery mode "Connect to itunes". When I connect it to itunes it shows " iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone “RS BUTTAR”. Go to the Summary tab in iPhone preferences and click Restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings."    The same error if restore(26).
    What to do
    Product iPhone 4,iOS 6

My warranty is expired and I imported this iPhone from Australia so no chance of getting it replaced.

Make sure your output device is tied with device type I6SWIN(Arabic SWIN saplpd 4.22+).
Also check whether your printer is uni-code enabled or not.

  • IOS 8 Rotation Stuck in Portrait

There's some kind of bug in iOS8 that is getting devices stuck in portrait mode; I noticed both my wife's iPhone 5s and my 6 were stuck in portrait orientation this evening, and nothing short of a complete reboot would fix the problem and restore normal auto-rotation. (I tried toggling the rotation lock, the reduce motion setting, sleep and wake, and manually closing all open apps.) I found a couple of other threads here complaining about what sounds like the same problem on iPads.
The only thing that had been done on both of them since the last reboot (which was less than 12 hours earlier) was run Epic Zen Garden, so I'm suspecting either Metal-intensive apps or apps that have a fixed orientation, but when I tried firing that up again it alone didn't seem to be enough to get the OS stuck again.
    I'm wondering if:
    a)  Anybody has figured out what, if anything specific, is triggering this.
    b)  If there's a workaround faster than rebooting the phone.
    c)  If it's already on Apple's bug tracker (I'm not a dev).
If it's not a listed bug yet, figuring out more specifically what is triggering it would let someone file it properly; "rotation lock sometimes gets stuck" is a shoddy bug report when it comes to trying to reproduce it.  And it's a pretty severe usability bug, so I'd hope it'd make a priority list once it does get filed.

    Same here. Just noticed it.
Convinced it's not hardware as issue goes away.
I have successfully fixed the issue with a reboot but also by launching the maps or compass apps.
By doing this it seems to 'reset' and then work in other apps such as BBC News. Seems to happen quite often though nothing concrete on what causes it.
Think it may be when using an app that senses rotation, and using this app for a long while in one orientation.  iOS seems to the forget rotate later.  Apps that don't rotate don't seem the cause the problem.
I trust Apple are likely to fix this in 8.1 ?
