would like to post this to save someone else headaches bought a new deskjet 1512 walmart did upgrade on walmarts site add printer cable blah blah about five bucks extra spent 4 hours trying to install device was unknown after much heartache and searching came across on windows 8 forum ( i have windows 7) that a ten foot cord was too long personally i believe it was just a cheap cord and even at three foot would have failed so went to walmart bought a six foot belkin cord...drumroll....have printer now.....awesome !!!!!!

I resetted my iphone 5s and now it says device unknown. What should i do?

I havent had service for 2 days now (tmobile), one of the technicians told me to do a reset and so i did but now it says device unknown and directed me to the "Service Answer Center" link. What should I do?

Meanwhile I solved the problem myself: the layout screen had sunk to the bottom, just had to pull it up.

Error activating SWU3 - output device "" unknown

Hi,
Schedule Background Job for Missed Deadlines under SWU3 is not activated.
If i try to activate it says output device "" unknown. If i try to activate anything under SWU3 it says the same error . Even with autocustomizing also.
Please clarify this !

I have corrected the previous error as u suggested me. But now it gives me new error ,
"Work item -: Background job SWFSLSDLEX cannot be scheduled (error )"
And the Error log says :
Refer to your workflow system administrator.
The specified error number should indicate possible reasons for the error. It is possible that the system is in an inconsistent state. The scheduled start of the specified background job must be compared with the minimum date/time of all work items in table SWWDHMIN. It may be necessary to delete the scheduled background job by hand and reschedule it by calling report RSWWDHEX.
Apparently i dont see any table SWWDHMIN.

Firewire Device unknown message - Macbook Air

Hi,
So I have an old Canon Digital Camcorder and I want to grab all the old movies of the kids, so I purchased a Thunderbolt/Firewire adaptor from Apple, plugged it into a 9pin to FW800 cable and powered everthing up, opened iMovie and no camera appeared, checked Finder and nothing.
So I checked System Information and under Firewire devices, I see the message "Device Unknown".
So I started searching the web for drivers and nothing is coming up, so I am wondering what I can do ?
I don't want to go back to my old IBM X32 thinkpad as it struggles to capture the data stream.

Iphone 5 says "device unknown" when doing the setup

I try to do the initial setup of my Iphone. When I get to the part of inserting a sim card, the phone "searches" and after a while he says: device unknown, and that I have to contact an apple store...
Anyone knows what this means?

Just got IOS7 but when i went thru the last few steps of setup a "device unknown" message came up? Any ideas on how to fix this? I cannot use my phone at all as of now. Thanks.

Error message = device unknown

was prompted to run an upgrade of the utilities on my iphone. When rebooted to apple icon, and then after responding to 'hello' message and unlocking my phone, a connect to iTunes prompt appears but am unable to activate anything and the error message says, 'no service' and 'device unknown'.

As an update, tried to connect from a Macbook Pro with an older ITunes and all devices show up, connect and work fine.

Our MI server has been hosted by our hosting partner in some years now. But these days we are switching to a new hosting partner.
Our new hosting partner has copied an image of our MI server and installed it on a new server. I can log in to webconsole and in the administration window I can see all devices that was copied from the old server. However, when I try to sync with an "old" device to this new server I only get an "Device unknown in system" error.
I know that a device is assigned a deviceid the first time it sync to the MI server, but what happens in this case when the server image is copied to a new server?

Can you please check the client set on the settigns of the device.
It could happen when MI client is pointing to some other middleware client and MI client has different client in settings.

Problem with PnP devices, Unknown device, error code:28

Hello, my USB Mass Storage Device Not Recognized( Flash drive- HP v156w, 16 GB)
Full story : I opened flash disk, started to loading and opening files very slow, suddenly all writing, names of the files become unreadable. I took off the flash disk and try again. I got the message- disk have to be formated to be used
again. After a lot of try I got this message:
Unknown device doesn't have a driver ; and Problem with PnP devices when i run trouble shoot in devices and printers on my Sony VAIO laptop( Windows 8, 64 bit), and error code:28 for unknown device doesn't have a driver.
Do other usb devices work ok in the same usb port? - yes
Has someone else/or you used it on another pc?- yes
Does it work ok on a different pc? - the same problem
Did you pull it out with using 'Safely Remove Hardware'? - yes, a lot of time after its become invisible, unknoun
Was it previously working ok with your W8 laptop? - never tried befor

I have done that -
"open device manager make sure show hidden devices is ticked and right click on all the USB hidden devices and unistall them. once done reboot and put in the flash drive again and see if windows finds it."
situation the same(((( Disk Management can't see the drive.
please if any one know the fix please help

USB Ports - Mass Storage Devices - Unknown Device

Model: Satellite A135-S2276
OS: Vista
I recently tried plugging in my media card reader that I've had for several years now and has worked many dozens of times. Windows responded with an 'Unknown Device' response. I thought this was odd, so I changed and tried each USB port. To no avail the device wasn't recognized. I tried it in another computer and it worked fine.
I began to try two other mass storage devices that I know used to work, up until recently, on the laptop. Both now are 'Unknown Devices'. I now have a strong feeling that someting was wrong with windows vista. So I search around and find methods to force the driver (inf) cache to reset which should reload any corrupted drivers. Tried many methods, nothing worked, same results. I saw that Vista Service Pack 2 just came out, I installed that hoping that it would fix. Nope.
I gave up on it being a software issue after I did a fresh reinstall of the OS and with the base OS with no other software installed same results.
Is there a way to diagnose if the USB is malfunctioning from a hardware standpoint? Is it possible the USB, even thought windows recognizes it, is dead on the motherobard? If so, how do I get this fixed? Motherboard replacement?
Help!!

It sounds like it is working enough that it can recognize that soemthign is plugged into it.
You say you did a fresh install of Windows. Did you use the recovery disk or a retail Windows copy. If oyu didn't use the recovery disk then maybe you are missing a driver. Best woudl be to use the recovery disk. If a USB mouse doesn't work after that then the hardware has an issue. Assuming the BIOS is OK.
