Devices not found despite resetting to factory settings

The dvd drive on my laptop is no longer recognised in device manager despite carrying out a reset to factory settings and the webcam is also no longer recongised and cannot be seen in device manager. I had hoped that the reset would resolve these issues and general lack of performance.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can regain use of the DVD drive and webca,? The laptop is over 4 years old so i expect some issues but hoepfully someone knows how to fix these.
Thansk

Yes you need to replace both items. What model laptop is it? The dvd burner drive and the webcam will not be very expensive and are fairly easy to replace.

have i pad and phone chainged password now not able to accsess apps store on either device if i reset to factory settings and enter new password will that solve problem?

If you only changed your password - not your Apple ID - have you changed it in the settings? Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and you can make changes in there.
You should not have to reset to factory Settings so don't resort to that just yet.

You can try this: If you can't update or restore your iOS device
If he had not turned on Find My iPad then it will work, if he had you will run into Activation Lock. If you do run into it you can take a copy of the will (or probate finding if he died without one) and/or a Letter Testamentary and ask if they can look up where he purchased it. If they can, and you have the other documents, they can reset it for you.

When you reset to factory settings, did you restore as new or did you restore from a backup? If you restored from a backup, you could try restoring as new and don't use the backup. If you do that, you will lose all of your data, but you can download or sync all of your content back to the iPad.
You could also try resetting all settings before your restore as new. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. You will have to re enter all device settings again.
And of course the possibility does exist that the iPad has developed a hardware problem that is causing the rotation issue and only a visit to an Apple Store could determine that for sure.

You should be able to force it into recovery mode and restore it. Provided, that is, that it's not also activation locked. If there's an iCloud account set up on it with Find my iPod enabled, you're pretty much hosed.
You may want to try contacting Amazon to see if you can return it. Was it actually sold by Amazon, or by a 3rd party? Amazon is getting to be as bad as eBay any more with all the 3rd party sellers.
Amazon is NOT an authorized source for any Apple products. What you got was, as you have already figured out, a demo model. It was probably either liquidated along with the rest of the inventory from a brick and mortar retailer that went bust or possibly even stolen.

  • Downloading latest update but now phone only shows charge cable and itunes symbol. Says I must reset to factory settings. Will I lose my data, pics, notes etc!

Downloaded latest update version it finished but then said verifying. Had to unplug and now it shows charge symbol and itunes logo and that i must reset to factory settings. I can not do any anything else with phone. Will I lose my notes, pics, data etc? Or can an Apple store fix?

It's in recovery mode. If it wasn't backed up before you started, the information is already gone. There is nothing left on the phone at this point.

  • My iPod will not be reset to factory settings

Hello I am new at this. And I'm not very computer-savvy. But I love my mac.
Here is my problem. I have updated my iTunes on my eMac to the latest version. I plug in my iPod (2nd generation, 3.1 I think) and although my iPod shows up on the desktop and on "my computer" iTunes says " may be corrupted. You must reset it to factory settings" I agree, and follow all the prompts to reset it, and when I do, it shuts iTunes down. So I have an updated iTunes and an older, empty iPod that I cannot reset to factory settings.
    What can i do?
    Thanks, Dehnerdog

    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
Please note that you can have a try to skip the "zero out data" option

  • IPod Classic (7th Generation) won't reset to factory settings...

Hi, I have a Apple iPod classic 160 GB Black (7th Generation). I had tried to sync it to my MacBook Pro, which the iPod was set up with, will not show up in iTunes. I will get an error message "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored because it could not be found." Then I'll get another error message "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod " Chris' Classic 160 iPod." Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings." When I go to "About this iPod" it shows that there are no songs, movies, photos, podcasts or contacts. There are four games loaded on the iPod. But, it shows 41.5 GB used and 107 GB free.
This is what I have done up to this point:
Disconnect and reconnect your iPod to iTunes, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again. Also, I've tried other USB cords.
Restart your computer and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port is recommended. For Windows computers, refer to Identifying USB 2.0 ports on your computer for instructions.
Remove any USB devices not manufactured by Apple that you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse). Then, attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
Update to the latest version of iTunes, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
How do I clear out that 41.5 GB from the iPod? What can I do to reset the factory settings on the iPod?

Do the iPod disk diagnostic on your iPod, as in this excellent earlier post by tt2.
It wont fix your problem, but help us in troubleshooting.
then, Use Disk Utility->FirstAid->Repair ( may take 30 minutes )
Failing that Disk Utility -> Erase
This will reformat the iPod ( try using FAT32, instaed of HFS+) may take 4 hours.

  • IPhone 4s update was interrupted and message said phone had to be reset to factory settings.  Lost all photos from phone in process of transferring to pc.  Copy of my backup overroad that phone and all the old data and photos are gone.

My boyfriend and I share an iTunes account. I just tried to update his phone and during the update an error message occurred saying that his phone had to be reset to factory settings.  It said it was an un setup phone and needed plugged in to iTunes.  With no other choice, we had to select reset to factory settings. Now, my phone backup through iCloud downloaded onto his and all of his contacts and photos were overridden by mine.  His photos were in process of transferring from the phone to the pc while this occurred and over 900 of them were complete when this happened.  They don't show up on the pc now either since the sycn wasn't finished.  Is there a way to get them back?  When we plug his phone in now it shows my name instead of his so I'm not sure how to get to an old version of his backups even.

Error -1 indicates a hardware issue with the device.

  • HP Device Not Found Error when trying to print or scan wireless- HP Officejet Pro L7590

Have had HP Officejet Pro L7590 All-In-One Printer for years.  Always worked fine and I had no issues printing via wireless connection.  Several months ago..  Possibly after a Windows 8 update.  From Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 I have not been able to use the printers wireless feature.  When I try to print or scan it shows the printer as offline.  Also get an error message that tells me "HP Imaging device is not found".  I can still print when connected to USB.  Cannot scan or use features of the HP software suite.  I have tried several times to correct.  Reloading the software and drivers several times, but no success.  I just tried again and was able to print the test page wireless, so got all excited and thought I fixed it.  Then tried to print something and got the same error message I have seen in the past.  I have talked to certain supports saying that it may be a firewall setting within Windows.  Any other suggestions?  Thanks

    In the Open box, type

Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    In the Open box, type

  • Device Not Found

I have been using a Time Capsule with with Mac Air 13 inch for the last 1.5 years. the Time casule is the main wi-fi router in my network. off late i have started getting a message Device not found, where as the internet is connected. due to this error no data (time machine) back up is available. also this issue leads to internet disconnection on my Mac (where are other devices lice PC's and iphones are connected to the same network without any problem).
Please help me if anyone has a solution.

You hidden the most important thing.. the name of the TC. I don't know why as we can certainly not connect to it remotely.
The name looks wrong though if I am seeing it right.. in terms of being too long and having spaces.. and possibly many of them.
There is a bug.. if you reboot the TC this issue will go away for a few hours.. or days..
    Have you rebooted btw??
Do a factory reset of the TC.
Change all names to SMB standard.. that means universal not Apple only.
    SMB names that work..
    Short.. 2-20 characters
    No Space..
    Pure alphanumeric.
You need that for TC name.. wireless name/s and hard disk share name.
Please see C9 for a more apple explanation of what long names do.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
I would also go back to 7.6.1 firmware.. if not earlier.. 7.5.2 is very stable.. but later Gen4 can only go back to 7.6.x

  • It is not possible to reset to factory State

    Ciao
My pc has this problem: "it is not possible to reset to factory State"
    Noteboock  HP Pavilion dv6-6c65el
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
    CPU Intel Core i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50\3.10GHz hd3000 integrata
    Graphics Radeon HD 7690M XT 2Gb GDDR5
    BIOS Brand Hewlett-Packard
    Version F.12 Date 10/26/2011
    Hard disk (C) OS+(D) Recovery+(E) HpTools.
After performing "reset factory state" (with HP Recovery Manager) I noticed the malfunction IE9 32bit.
Moreover, the absence of other software preinstalled (missing: Hp Hp setup-documentation-IE9 64bit).
When I tried a new reset, HP Recovery Manager to the voice system recovery (factory state) tells me:
(disabled: to restore the system, use recovery media)
Using Recovery DVD (in excellent condition),you  receive the following error message:
"windows as encountered a problem comunicating with a device connected to your computer-This errorcan be cause by umpluggin a
removable storage device such as an exsternal usb drive while the device is in use,or by faulty hardware such as hard drive or cd-rom drive

The same happens with the F11 key during startup. Reset error.
The System Restore Microsoft does not resolve.
In Windows everything else seems to work and the hardware of the notebook has no problems.
The original dvd player has been replaced with a compatible; reads all the disks supported.
Only install MSE (I use only portable software).
There are no viruses or other malaware.
I performed procedures in hp support but nothing has changed.
    You can find a solution?
    Ciao e grazie

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have no more 'answer because my computer had crashed complete.
    I apologize.
    Order the media why?
If discs created the first time the PC will not work. I suppose that does not solve the problem discs hp (I also read about a problem like mine. This problem has not been resolved with the media bought by HP).
I shot weeks the web and I finally found the appropriate procedure.
I made several attempts to solve the problem. But now I have succeeded.
1- Show Hidden Files \ protected
2- Enter with a program (es: file commander) in recovery partition and copy the file or files base.wim. My is about 18 Gb, 1 file.
3- We need a second PC and dvd
4- Follow a procedure described by internauta 37.
Search "Ripristinare portatile HP senza DVD e se l'HP Recovery Manager non funziona Internauta37"
E 'was for me a little complicated but in the end I have my hp to the state of factory and everything works perfectly.
    Thank you all
