Devices not working on FW800 Ports on Macpro

Since purchasing the MacPro I have not had the need to connect any FW800 devices to my system.
I have since decided to use an old FW800 external Lacie Hard drive I have been using on my old 15" Al 1.25GHz Powerbook, on the MacPro. I also have a new Sandisk Pro FW800 CF Card reader I want to attach to the Macpro.
I sent the computer to an AppleCare Centre and they told me there was nothing wrong with the ports and the fault must be due to a faulty hard-drive, or a bad install of the system software.
I have since moved the boot drive onto a new larger drive (The old drive WAS faulty!). The system is faster, but my FW800 ports still don't work!
If I want to access the Lacie drive on my MacPro I have to Target disk my Powerbook and access the drive through the Powerbook.
Any clue to what is going on? Is there a way of refreshing the system software without a reinstall?
Cheers to any help

Have you checked to see if there is a LaCie firmware update? That is actually first thing I would do and is very likely, and has been noted previously.
There are a few out there with a FireWire port not working at all.
Your LaCie has FW400/800 ports?
You can always run the combo update to 10.4.x.
I would look for a new FW800 case if LaCie doesn't have any firmware or help.

iphone 4S will not charge, error that USB device not working, found any suggestions?

    Hello Chambless,
The troubleshooting steps below can help get your iPhone to charge.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

Wi-fi not working says air port not configured, help]

Life is getting more complicated to do support..
You need to tell us what version airport.. extreme or express and the model number. A1xxx from the label.
You need to tell us OS.. if the profile which says 10.6.8 is wrong.. as that is confusing.
The new AC version Extreme needs 6.3 version airport utility which is only available for Lion or mountain Lion.
You might also need to turn on ipv6 local-link to get it to show in the utility.

    Hi there @Sweeto684
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that your fingerprint reader is not working and that your system is running very slow, but please clarify what you mean by saying you lost the recovery data. Are you referring to the factory recovery image stored on your system, or are you meaning something else?
I am happy to help you with all of this, but need to know more before I can make some useful recommendations. I want to avoid having you do something that could cause a problem with something else, until I know what problem really is.

In My IPhone the sound device not working properly. I can here the sound through head set only.kindly send an idea ti solve this problems

Hello. I sent my WRT1900AC V1 to Linksys four days ago (Monday) via UPS with a RMA. Linksys paid the shipping and everything. The router is still in route, and it should arrive to their offices tomorrow. Once they receive the WRT1900 AC V1, they are going to send me an EA8500 as a replacement. But I have been reading the comments about the EA8500 here in the forum and it seems to have the same problems. I guess the firmware is extremely flawed in both routers (maybe it is almost the same code?). Anyway, I will try the EA8500 and I hope it works. I bought a temporary router from Walmart and I paid $35 for it. It is a Belink N600 DB. I can't believe that a $35 router is working a lot, lot, lot better than my previous $250 WRT1900AC router. Unbelievable. If the EA8500 doesn't work, I'm going to try and get my money back from Linksys, or contact The Consumerist or someone to get my money back and get a Nighthawk instead.

  • Satellite M50D-A : USB 3.0 devices not working in USB 3.0 ports

I can use 2.0 devices in the 3.0 ports fine, but my 3.0 device Flash Voyager USB3 8GB will not work. It connects then disconnects once, not showing up in device manager at all.
I've tried installing the USB driver off this site version 2.0.10.273-130101a for my model. That made no difference.
    Install system Windows 8.1
    Any ideas? Thanks.

The Voyager USB stick is manufactured by Corsair
I found in Corsair forum some threads and complaints about the troubles connecting the Voyager USB3.0 stick to USB 3.0 ports. Here the link the Corsair threads:

It looks like there are some compatibility problems between the USB controller (from AMD but _not_ Intel) and this USB stick.
One of the solutions could be the usage of other USB 3.0 flash memory sticks which are supported by AMD chipset.
You could also try to update the driver manually. You will need to check firstly the chipsets specs and name. To do that, I recommend you to install some kind of hardware diagnostic software (Everest Home Edit or Sandra Sisoft).
Then you could check on AMD page if an update for this chipset is available.

  • MacBook Pro Retina USB 2.0 devices not working in right side USB port

4 days ago I bought MacBook Pro Retina 15".
When I plug USB 2.0 device to right side USB port, it does not work. OSX does not recognize it, iPhone does not charge, and so.
When I plug the same USB 2.0 device to left side USB port, it works.
When I plug USB 3.0 device to left or right side USB ports, it works without a problem.
Does anyone have this same issue? How did you resolve it?

I have a similar issue with a 13" Retina. Both my ports work OK for most USB devices but the right one won't work with a USB external HD (Time Machine backup). Very consistant.

  • How to connect many devices with only one FW800 port in iMac?

    Hi,
I am upgrading to a new Intel iMac from a 2004 vintage Dual2.0GHz PowerMac. I currently have 8x d2 Quadra drives chained by FW800, and 2x Iomega drives connected vis FW400 hub which also connects HD cams.
My questions is that with only one FW800 port in iMac, I think my devices connectivity is the following?
    (1) Get a FW 800 hub (I can only find 2 port ones at the Apple store and BestBuy)
    (2) Connect the d2 Quadras to one port of the FW800 hub
    (3) Get a FW 800 to FW 400 cable
    (4) Connect my 6 port FW400 hub to the 2nd port of the FW800 hub
Thanks for reviewing this solution, and I would also appreciate other suggestions or hear about your experiences if you have a similar set-up.
    Will

In addition to your listed considerations, you should consider the following.
Many storage needs do not required FireWire 800 speed. For example, USB 2.0 works fine for your Time Machine backup drive. If you are just storing user data such as your iPhoto or iTunes media files, USB 2.0 is more than fast enough. So, as much as possible, if any of those external drives have USB 2.0 connections and the data storage does not need FireWire 800 speed, offload as much as possible to USB 2.0. I used to be a +FireWire snob+, but since getting an Intel iMac, I find that USB 2.0 works quite well for most data storage purposes.
There are new hard drives that are power efficient and as large as 2TB. Consolidate your data storage needs onto a smaller number of very large drives, partitioned as needed. This will make your setup more reliable (smaller number drives), and save reduce power consumption. If any of your current externals are SATA, you can probably replace the existing drive with an extra large one.
So, I think you setup should be, extra large FireWire 800 drive connected to the FireWire 800 port directly. Using a 9-pin to 6-pin cable, connect the FireWire 400 hub. Connect any non-storage FireWire 400 devices there. Do some data transfer testing to make sure having the 400 hub there on the chain does not cause the 800 connection to slow down.
Connect other drives as needed using USB 2.0, existing or new. Retire the smaller of your external drives.

  • Devices not working :/

FFirst off my phone won't sinc all my music I have over 40g of memory it syncs part but not all. Second off my phone has bugs like for real it just restarts all the time especially in my music app whicy hardly works anyways. My iPad and macbook are starting to do it too I can barley use the device without a glitch. I don't know what to do. I Think it's the update.

  • Aggregate Device not working

When I put 3 microphones and a midi keyboard into a powered hub, each microphone will work properly when accessed individually, but when I try to use an aggregate device with those microphones I get no input at all.  It works fine on my older MBP, but will not work with my new one (only 2 months old).  It worked with a new unit at the Genius bar, but no Apple technicians seem to be able to figure out why.  The logic board has been replaced and still has the same problem.  What else might I look for?

    I launch GB.
Select New Podcast Episode, create it.
Open Preferences, select Audi/Midi, select Aggregate Device, close Prefs.
GB says it's using the AD but one mic is ignored.
When creating the AD the settings are 44100.0 Hz and 2ch-16bit.
I've tested the USB ports with Plantronics headsets separately -- all work, nothing inadvertantly muted.
Aggregate Device isn't aggragating when the two mics are connected even though they are both seen in Audio/Midi Setup. One mic is ignored completely when I select the AD in Preferences. On the MacPro's left side, the USB port nearest the palm rest is the only port working (when attempting GB with the AD).

  • Device not work correctly

Can you please provide more details.  Like an error code.

  • Audio not working.  USB ports not working.

My display worked perfectly for a few months.  It started when the audio stopped working.  The option to use the display audio disappeared from the settings.  I made due.  Then the monitor started not waking up when I would hit keys on my wireless keyboard.  I had to open my macbook pro first, wake it, then the monitor would turn on...then I could shut my macbook.  Now the USB ports are not working.  This is very frustrating as I have searched the forums..tried everything there and have had zero success.  Should I just return this to the store?  Please advise.  I am tired of dealing with this as the features that are not working are the REASON that I shelled out a grand for this monitor.

As much as I loved the display itself and design of the Thunderbolt (problems asside), I did take mine back to Apple. It was not just the one issue but several which all added up. Having said that I wouldn't give up on it as I'm now missing it compared to my 17" screen on the MacBook Pro which suddenly appears to be puny in size.
Towards the latter part of owning the TB Display, I had a temporary work around which was to utilise the three USB ports on the MacBook which I experienced as being problem free; therefore I plugged a USB Hub into one of the MacBook Pro's USB ports effectively giving me several to use for lesser equipment, then the remaining two USB's on the MacBook Pro I used for more critical higher bandwidth devices like the Bose Companion 5. Then less critical devices OR devices that don't seem to have any problems with the TB Display - I then plugged into the back of the Thundebolt Display. I know you shouldn't have to do this but for the time it seems to help.
Also with regard to another problem I had with sound, see my other post (link below - 5th post down) where I was able to avoid another problem for the time up until I took it back, but this might not have been a permanent solution and I am no longer able to tell for sure.
