That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • ITunes 8.2 Apple Mobile Device Support does not install

I am unable to complete the full 8.2 install on my machine - the AMDS component fails to install, although the rest of the packages go in successfully. Unfortunately, without AMDS, I can't sync' my iPhone 3G, nor my iPod.
Having broken out the AMDS package from the 8.2 installer .exe, and tried to run it separately from the command line with logging enabled, the error appears to occur while trying to install the USB drivers themselves - the relevant lines are inserted here:

I'm unable to break open the .msi fully because it is apparently 'corrupt', although that doesn't seem to stop Windows having a go. That said, the little that I can peer into it, the relevant .INF file mentioned in the log appears to be zero length.
Backing out the full install and downgrading to 8.1.1 seems to work fine, except that now MobileMe won't work because it's keyed to iTunes 8.2!!
Has anyone else seen this problem? Has anyone else got a valid AMDS .msi file I can try?!
    Thanks,
    ANdy

Maybe a little bit of forum necromancy going on here, but I thought it was worth posting for W7 RC users. aclc's post got me thinking about this tonight when I had issues updating my iTunes, and after some hard work investigating the issue, I figured out what has to happen. Basically aclc is exactly right with the root of the issue - I'm simply expanding the idea to involve instructions for those who can't afford to or won't be bothered with finding out the details of the solution.
Please note that these instructions were written assuming you are using an administrator-level account on a 64-bit Windows 7 Release Client installation, but should help 32-bit users if they have the same experience - I have not tried this solution on a 32-bit box. This fix has been administered using iTunes 9, so I have personally verified this will work with that version of iTunes.
iTunes 9 issue: iTunes requesting that you uninstall and reinstall for Apple Mobile Support after trying to install iTunes 9 on Windows 7 RC x64
    Resolution:
By now you've already gone through the failed install on Apple Software Update, and may or may not have manually downloaded iTunes...I'm going to start from the beginning for the benefit of anyone who doesn't want to waste the hour and a half that I did to figure this one out (actually i detoured to read up on a few things for most of that time to feed my inner nerd, but I digress). Plus, this should help with retail Windows 7 users (provided Apple and MS haven't worked this out amongst themselves).
    1 - TURN OFF UAC
    a) Hit Windows Key + R to open the Run command box, type "msconfig", and hit enter or click OK.
    b) Go to the Tools tab, highlight Change UAC Settings and click the Launch button.
    c) Move the slider all the way down to the bottom to turn off UAC.
    d) Reboot your PC for the changes to UAC to take effect.
2 - INSTALL iTUNES AND APPLE MOBILE SUPPORT THE RIGHT WAY (A.K.A. NOT LIKE THE INSTALLER TRIES TO)
    a) In Apple Software Update, go to Tools | Open Downloaded Updates Folder... (if already downloaded and the installation has failed)
    -or-
Use the Download and Install Manually feature of the Tools menu (if you have not already tried to install via Apple Software Update)
    b) Locate the iTunes installer and the Apple Mobile Software Update installer. For me they were called:
    iTunes64.msi
    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
    c) Right-click one of the files identified in 2a. Select Properties, and go to the Compatibility tab. Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box and select "Previous Versions of Windows". Click Apply. Repeat for the other file in Step 2a.
    d) Run the Apple Mobile Device Support installer identified in 2a. With UAC and compatibility mode both turned off, you should have a clean install.
    e) IF YOU HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED iTUNES AND GOTTEN THE MESSAGE THAT YOUR MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT IS NOT COMPATIBLE, DON'T PANIC - HERE'S THE FIX: Right-click the iTunes installer identified in 2a and select Repair. You should see a progress bar but will not have to go through a full install. Voila! Open iTunes, plug in your iPhone, and you should be good to go.
IF YOU HAVE NOT YET ATTEMPTED TO INSTALL iTUNES, simply run the installer for iTunes identified in 2a.
There you have it - this should do it for you and save someone the aggravation of figuring this out on their own.
Don't forget to turn UAC back on if you need/want it on.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Itunes Package Installer not Installing Apple Mobile Device Support

Okay, so I have unistalled iTunes, removed everything on my computer that apple told me to, then reinstalled iTunes. But I still get the same message when i plug in my iTouch, "This ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed." Then it tells me to uninstall and then reinstall itunes; well i have done that literally over 10 times. All to the same result: no mobile device support. I called the 1-800 number for apple and was on the phone for over 2 hours and to find out they couldn't help right at that time because they had to investigate because they could not figure out why iTunes wasn't installing right. Believe me I've done everything possible. And on top of all this, my iTouch is being read as a digital camera. Oh and when i ran a diagnostic on iTunes, this is what it told me.

  • No more device licenses in WPF Client

    Hi All,
I am working on SAP Service Manager 4.0 which was running perfectly in WPF client CRMSMWPF00_0-10013291.exe
But suddenly it started giving error -  "No more device licenses in WPF client" and in Agentry Server the log shows - "Device licenses limit exceeded"
I reinstalled the WPF client but the issue remains the same.
I tested the application in ATE and the application was downloaded without any issue.
Please suggest me why I am getting this issue and what should be done to solve this issue.
    Looking forward for your support

  • HELP!!! Does LabView support a thin client or dumb terminal (diskless workstation) type of deployment

    Hello,
Does LabView support a thin client or dumb terminal (diskless workstation) type of deployment? I have a need to run LabView on some sort of dumb terminal / diskless workstation.  If someone has deployed LabView in this matter, please provide me all the details on how this was accomplished (software, hardware, etc.)
    Thanks

    Sorry, can't call you.
My first suggestion has nothing to do with LV. It is simply connecting as a remote client to the windows server and controlling the windows session on the server.
My second suggestion involved writing a program which will contact the PLCs directly using Modbus and get the data from them. As mentioned, you can find some Modbus client implementations for LV by searching the web (or, if you have LV 8 and the DSC module, I think it should come built in).
My third was writing 2 programs - one would run on the server and one on the client\s. The server program would be responsible for sending the data to the client and the client would be responsible for interacting with the user and sending the appropriate messages to the server. I already gave you pointers on what to search for (the example finder can be found by going to Help>>Find Examples and the site can be searched from the box at the top of the page, but make sure you don't search just the forums).
In both cases, you would need to design the program and the interface for the user.
Wi-Fi also has nothing to do with LV and is simply a way to form a wireless network. Any mobile device would almost definitely have support for it and buying an access point to form the wireless network is easy and cheap.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here, here, here and here are a few you can start with and here are some tutorial videos. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).
Try to take over the world!

  • Installation order (App Support - QT - Device Support - iTunes)

    Hello,
I'm about to deploy QuickTime and iTunes in an enterprise environment.
QuickTime will be part of the standard applications installed on all clients and iTunes will be available for later installation on demand.
I would like to install the components in this order
    For all:
    Apple Application Support
    Apple QuickTime
    On Demand:
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple iTunes
However this document from the iOS Reference Library...
    http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#featuredarticles/FADeployingiTunes/Introduction/Introduction.html
... states that the applications must be installed in the following order (Mobile Device Support before QuickTime)
    Apple Application Support
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple QuickTime
    Apple iTunes
Is this document obsolete/incorrect? Mobile Device Support isn't even included in the QuickTime installer downloadable from Apple.
    Thanks in advance

I downloaded Itunes 10 and tried to set it up on his computer. The computer went through the updating part but when it got to the screen with the green progress bar, an error window came up. I believe it was error code 2330.
That's most commonly caused by disk/file damage.
I'd start with that by running a disk check over the C Drive. You don't say which Windows OS your friend is running, so here's links to instructions for all three. Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk r/ (depending on how you go about this):
[How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265]
[(Vista) Check your hard disk for errors|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-fo r-errors]
[(Windows 7) How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)|http://www.w7forums.com/use-chkdsk-check-disk-t448.html]
Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, try another install. Does it go through properly this time?

now i went to the directory where the driverfiles should be, and paused the installation just before it starts rolling back and made a copy of the whole thing, the driver files are being extracted, and thinking it may have failed to find them, i restarted the installation and paused it after it extracted the files, copied over my backup files to where they should be, and resumed, same thing happened, failure again.
I stopped all the services running, (msconfig / startup and services) and that still did not help, i went through my registry for every "apple" and deleted it, after uninstalling all apple products, that did not help, i ran windows install clean up and made sure that quicktime and itunes and apple updatea re not installed, did the whole thing again, no luck.......
Can someone please tell me what is going on, i can run it just fine on my other machine, which is running windows xp pro as well, the only thing different i did on this one was that i plugged in the Iphone before installing the software, whereas i ran the itunes installer on that one before i plugged in the iphone, and yes, i did get the iphone driver as a camera at first, and i changed it later by pointing the update driver to the same directory where applemobiledevicesupport extracted the 3 driver files :
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    and the files are usbaapl.cat , usbaapl.inf, and usbaapl.sys
please look into this issue, i've done everything i could think of,
    Thank you.

MSI (c) (10:8C) [08:22:03:595]: Product: Apple Mobile Device Support -- Installation failed.
now i went to the directory where the driverfiles should be, and paused the installation just before it starts rolling back and made a copy of the whole thing, the driver files are being extracted, and thinking it may have failed to find them, i restarted the installation and paused it after it extracted the files, copied over my backup files to where they should be, and resumed, same thing happened, failure again.
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    and the files are usbaapl.cat , usbaapl.inf, and usbaapl.sys
please look into this issue, i've done everything i could think of,
    Thank you.

I have the exact same problem on my workstation and previously solved it by installing iTunes on a different computer and copying all the files and registry keys to my workstation. However, it didn't solve the problem when i tried to update to itunes 7.6 ...
    Is there any solution yet?

  • IPod is not recognized by iTunes... Driver folder not in Mobile Device Support?

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation. First, my iPod wasn't even recognized in Windows. After following the various Apple articles, I solved this.
But now, my iPod won't be recognized in iTunes. I've been trying to follow this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 which has worked so far. But the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed. I follow along as to what to do to solve this until I reach "
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Note: If using a 64-bit version of Windows, this folder may be stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl.inf" file which is listed in this folder. (This file will be called "usbaapl64.inf" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows)."
My Mobile Device Support does not have a folder called "Drivers" and my computer does not have any file listed as "usbaapl.inf" anywhere. I'm guessing that this could be the source of the problem. But I can't fix it unless I know where to find these drivers, and I don't know they are on my computer or how to get them.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....

Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open.   I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you

  • TS3704 Trying to delete I Tunes because of missing MSVCR80.dll followed instructions from Apple to delete - Apple Mobile Device support keeps coming up its being used I have gone to program files deleted what I can from folder but left with 3 files

I have been getting the MSVCR80.dll missing message.
Been on the Apple site and following instruction.
Going down the list has instructed I have Deleted I Tunes.
    Deleted Apple Software Update
But when I try to delete Apple Mobile device it wouldn't delete so went into program files has the instructions say by going to Program Files\common Files\Apple\Apple Mobile Device Support Folder.
It still wouldn't delete saying it was being used.
I opened the file and highlighted all the folders and pressed delete, most of them have disapeared into my recycle bin but the folder still holds AppleMobileService, AppleMobileDeviceService_main.dll and MobileDevice.dll.
Message when I right click the first file is AppleMobileService I am told this action can't be completed because file is open in Apple Mobile Device. Close and Try again.
When I click the next file AppleMobileDeviceService_main dll it says  It comes up with This action cannot be completed and File description Apple Mobile Device Service. Company Apple Inc. File Version 17.323.0.9 Date Created 7/9/2013. Try again...... and finally  MobileDevice.dll come up with same message but file version 710.0.0.4 Date Created 7/9/2013 Size 902KB Both say Try Again but the same thing just recurred.
I have left my lap top on hoping that I a swift reply.
I am certainly no computer wizard and simply trying to follow the instructions to get rid of the box which keep coming up everytime I switch the lap top on saying APS Daemon.exe-System Error. The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.  I had looked at the internet and there appears to be warnings not to click on the button.
I have had an apdate from Apple for the I Tunes but it wouldn't update. I thought that may have sorted it so whilst I had a few hours I thought I would go through the process that is advised on Apple's website.
I hope I have not ruined my computer. I haven't even tried deleting Bonjour or Apple Application Support (I Tunes 9 or later) has these are supposed to come after the step I am on.
    Please HELP!!!!!

When I plug my iPhone 4s into my PC, I get a message that says iTunes needs a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. It wants me to uninstall both the AMDS and iTunes and then reinstall iTunes. iTunes won't recognize my phone and so I can't synch it. Has anyone else run into this problem recently and how did you resolve it? Thanks!

Thank you both. I suppose I should have prefaced my question with the concern that I've read a number of other posts from people who have had a similar issue and when they tried to follow the directions, they ran into a multitude of other problems. As you might imagine, I'm hoping to avoid the creation of new problems as I try to solve this one. Thanks again.
