Dexim S8, U2O i-Up, Pebble Portable Charger or Just Mobile GUM PRO

Hi all
Have just been scouring the internet for a 3GS compatible external battery as an upgrade to my PowerMonkey Explorer and have seen the following options:
Dexim DCA171B Bluepack S8 - £40.
Pebble Portable Charger for £50
It has a massive capacity, however I am a little dubious about it: http://www.firebox.com/product/2692/...harger?via=ser
U2O i-UP 5400 - £45
or finally a
Just Mobile Portable
Im a little unsure of what to go for and thought I would ask on here in case there are certain brands which are to be avoided for whatever reason(s)?
The Dexim looks like a great deal but the battery capacity is the least favorable.
The Pebble has the largest capacity, however, Im not too sure about the connections they use
Does anyone know if all of the models feature a surge protection option? So my iphone/ipod/whatever is protected against getting fried?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
Anyway, thank you,
Chris

  • Can't use portable charger?

So I'm going to a festival in a few weeks and want to take my iPhone 5 (I know I shouldn't) and I've bought an AA battery powered portable charger. I am using a 100% legitimate apple cable (It came with my phone), yet when I plug it in to my portable charger it comes up with the message "this accessory is not supported" and ceases to charge. I know there are restrictions on which lightning cables apple lets you use, but I was unaware that they had stopped you using different chargers too? Is there any way around this, and If not, can anyone recommend a portable charger that 100% works with an iPhone 5?
    Thank you so much!

  • When I plugged in my portable charger to my MacBook Pro, it shut off and now I can't turn it back on. What do I do?

I was launching my sims game when I plugged in my portable charger in my MacBook Pro. As soon as I plugged it in, I heard a tiny poof and next thing I know the screen turned black. I held down the power button like I normally would and it wouldn't work. when I plug in the charger, there is a faint green light. Please help anybody. Thank you for your time.

Something broke I'm afraid. Take it (and the charger) to an Apple Store, leave it unplugged.

  • My portable charger CP-V3 does not even give one full charge to a 2100 mAh battery.

I recently purchased the CP-V3 portable charger which claims is 2800 mAh. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 which has a 2100 mAh battery. All I ever get on a full chage of the charger is 85% max.
I had it replaced once at the Service Center thinking that the product might have been defective. Now even with the replacement, I have the same problem. Is there something wrong with the replacement as well or is the charger supposed to be that way? DO suggest if I need to replace the product again.
PS: I know that there is a power leakage involved with these chargers but over 35% power loss? Isn't that a little too much.

Yes, I never leave the USB cable on when not required. I immediately disconnect it from the charger.
I am exploring a couple of other solutions, like trying to charge it only between 20% to 80% and then repeat (heard there usually is a lot of effort for the charger to charge upto the first and last 20%).
Will let you know if this works. In the meantime, any more knowledge on the product would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Problem with portable charger

I bought a portable charger for my iPod b/c I'll be away from my home computer for about 2 weeks at a time. I purchased it about a month and a half ago. And it worked fine. But now when I connect my iPod to the charger it diminishes the battery life but says its fully charged. Does anyone know what is wrong?
    5G

    Thank you. : )
It's my iPods battery. And Ive put it on the charger about half charged and when I look at it 5 minutes later the charger says my battery is fully charged but when I take it off its dead. No, I'm not able to use it unless my iPod has been hooked up to my computer.
My iPods also been acting weird with its battery life in general, not just with that charger. But the charger really messes it up. I've only had it since X-mas and it worked fine but here lately, it seems as if my battery will deplete rapidly. I

  • Why not invent a portable charger for Macbook

it's just so annoying I need to find plug everywhere, now that we've already have the portable charger for our phones and pads why there's no one for our note book?

When I first purchased my MBP, I also purchased an extra Magsafe.  One I keep home & the other stays in my MBP carrying case along w/dups of my troubleshooting & backup bootable discs.

  • I just brought Macbook pro(without retina display) on 15 june 2013 and since then put it on 6-7 hours of charging but still my macbook pro is not 100% charged. but why? (green light is displayed on the adapter pin)

i just brought Macbook pro(without retina display) on 15 june 2013 and when i switched it on the battery was 72 % charged and now the battery is charged to 62%, i used the charger that came with it and kept it for 6-7 hours on charging but it is not charged to 100% but why? also the green light is always on when i plug the charger with my mac book pro. Please tell me the meaning of Green light on power cord lid (mac book pro not charging or charging?) and also the other light if there like amber or any other colour.

    Hello Shailendras33,
Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro!  Thank you for providing all the information about what is going on with the charging issue.
Firstly, I found some information on page 11 of the MacBook Pro User Guide about what each color of the LED means on the Power Adapter:
When you first connect your power adapter to your MacBook Pro, an indicator light on the
MagSafe connector starts to glow.  An amber light indicates the battery is charging.  A green light indicates that the battery is fully charged.
You can find the MacBook Pro User Guide here (this is not for the latest MacBook Pro, but the information about the MagSafe adapter is true for the newest model):
    MacBook Pro User Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/macbook_pro_15inch_late_2011.pdf
It sounds like you are not getting the amber light indicating your computer is charging, and you are noticing that the battery level is depleting.  I recommend resetting your System Management Controller when something like this is occurring:
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • My iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, but when connected to my brand new ASUS Windows-8 laptop's USB 3.0 port the charging process just keeps "blinking" on both the iPod and the laptop and will not connect to Itunes...

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem!                                                                                                                                                                                                                               My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar.                                                               When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over!                                                                                                                  I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good.                                                             I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work!                                                                                          The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated!                                                                                                                                                                I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing!                                                       I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos, since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I hope somebody knows a fix or solution! Thank You!

i have tried to install new update on iphone 5 and now it wont turn on when i plug it in the charger it just shows i need to connect to itunes.

Given the state your device is in you have already erased your old stuff. You have an image on the screen that says, "Connect to iTunes." That's what the image means. So you will need iTunes on your computer.

  • I have a ipod touch 8gb when i plug it in to charge it just blinks from the apple screen to the battery screen but will not charge what could be wrong it was fine yesterday?

I have a ipod touch 8gb . When I plug it in to charge it just blinks from the apple screen to the battery screen what could be wrong?

    Maybe:
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

    or
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • When I plug my ipad in to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the charge icon and not charging

When i plug in my ipad to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the recharge icon and not charging.... what does this mean and how can it be fixed... checked all cables, not broken

First make sure you are using the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a good wall outlet. When the iPad battery is completely drained it may take some time on the charger before the iPad responds. Be patient and let the iPad remain on the charger for at least an hour then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is at 100%. If the iPad does not restart Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • 60W charger for 15 inch Macbook Pro?

Hi, it is finals time and my 85W Macbook Pro charger has just decided to quit on me. My friend is selling her 60W charger that she uses on her 13 inch Macbook Pro...can I buy it and use it on my 15 inch one?
    Thanks!

    Hi collegegirl,
The earlier MBPs, like yours, have a separate Graphics Processing Unit that adds to the power draw when compared with the current "base model" 15" 2.53 model that comes with the 60W power supply. The newer computers also have a reduced power load in other areas, too.
I've run my own older SantaRosa 15" on 60W power adaptors on various occasions (more by accident than deliberate decision - we have several of both varieties in the house) and nothing untoward has happened, but they are likely to heat up a little more than an 85W when used on an "85W" computer, and your battery may also be "called on" to supply extra power on occasion, even when the charger is connected.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2346 has some advice, and lists the adaptors appropriate for different MBPs.
So, in short, though the solution probably seems appealing to you both, it is not really a good idea, I'm afraid.
    Cheers
    Rod
