DFM 3.0.3 - LMS 3.1

Is it possible to delete all alerts (by selecting all) without having to ack. each and everyone manually.
I was told by TAC when I had DFM 3.0 that it would be possible, but I still cannot do it.
thks

This feature was added in DFM 3.1 which is part of LMS 3.1.

  • DFM stops showing alerts - LMS 4.2

    Hej all
Our DFM is very unstable, I mean that with no apparent reason stops showing what devices are in alert state. I can see that I have 5 alerts right now but the Fault Monitor is just loading.
Checked DFM processes and DFMServer, DFMserver1 and DfmBroker are running normally. All the other DFM* processes are showing  "
Program started - No mgt msgs received".
We are using a Linux appliance.
Could anybody help me here please?
    Best regards
    Isaac Alves

    Hello Ngoldwat
Sorry for the delay on answering back but I got some days off.
I see the alerts on the right end corner right next to TAC Service requests.
No changes have been made on the server cause right now I am the only one administrating it.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
    Best regards

  • 2960-48PST-L listed as supported on DFM 3.2.0 not learned

The switch 2960-48PST-L is listed as supported on the DFM 3.2.0 (lms 3.2) but after dfm discovery it has status Unsupported:
    IP Address                 = 10.1.100.5

The device update for DFM 3.2.0 is on the last update as of today 2 mar 2011 15:00 GMT.
This switch is also not supported on CiscoView 6.1.9 at the latest device update level.
I have already increased the discovery time out to 30 seconds.

    Hi
When I go to Common Service > software center > device update  >>> Click on DFM >> click on check for updates there are
no new updates for the device updates for the dfm 3.2.0.
The list I posted on the question was got from the list of the supported devices models obtained by clicking the number of devices
supported on the Common Service > software center > device update  for the dfm 3.2.0.
The 2960-48PST-L is listed as supported. It's a new installation and there are many of this device model on the customer network.

  • *** Conflicting device support info for DFM 3.2 ***

    Hellows...   ;-)
The helpful folks at TAC have been trying to troubleshoot one of my last and biggest pending items, which was the perceived inability of DFM to manage the devices on our network.  This was a rather puzzling issue, as the other LMS components (CS, CM, RME, etc.) had no apparent issues whatsoever doing everything I asked them to do.  After countless hours trying to troubleshoot DFM discovery errors ("questioned" with SNMP timeout despite the fact that all other LMS modules manage the same devices perfectly fine), an alert TAC engineer finally asked whether or not these devices were, in fact actually supported by DFM 3.2 - low and behold, a can of worms opened up!
The best current guess is rather confusing to me:  There is a Cisco document out there suggesting that NONE of our devices are among those supported by DFM, while I did find another Cisco document that somewhat contradicts that notion.  I’d like to think that this must be confusing (or at least very little known) to TAC as well, since nobody over there considered this a potential culprit for the first almost three weeks of troubleshooting around the globe during countless WebEx sessions.  We basically went through everything imaginable (process monitoring with full debugging, complete removal and new installation of DFM only, complete clean-up and re-initialization of all module databases – and in the process tearing down most of my configurations and settings –, to a midnight conference call with developers in India).
The end result appears to be that DFM functionality will not be available to me – please confirm.  What are the alternatives?  Any rhyme or reason to Cisco not supporting these device types?  Any plans to ever do so?
I run a variety of devices on my network, most of them being 3560G, 3560E and 6504E switches, pretty much bread-and-butter variety of basic Cisco devices.  Why on earth would there even be a question that these are or are not supported by all LMS modules?
Argument AGAINST support in DFM 3.2:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/device_support/table/lms32sdt.html#3.2table
Argument IN FAVOR of support in DFM 3.2:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_device_fault_manager/3.2/device_support/table/dfm3_2os.html
According to that list, our 6504E with IOS is fully supported by DFM 3.2 with LMS 3.2, and so are the 3560G and 2950 series switches, the 2500 series router.  However, the 3560E series switches are not listed as supported.
Are we seeing ghosts here or have other people had device support issues with DFM?
    Thanks,
    Matthias

Okay.  I have a feeling the DFM Servers may be in a bad state.  If you haven't done so already, install the consolidated patch for CSCtb87449 from http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/ImageList.x?relVer=3.2.0&mdfid=282640771&sftType=CiscoWorks+Device+Fault+Manager+Patches&optPlat=Windows&nodecount=2&edesignator=null&modelName=CiscoWorks+Device+Fault+Manager+3.2&treeMdfId=268439477&treeName=Network+Management&modifmdfid=&imname=&hybrid=Y&imst=N&lr=Y .  Then REBOOT the server.
When the server comes back, try to rediscover your devices.  If that fails, post the DFM.log and DFM1.log under NMSROOT/objects/smarts/local/logs.

  • Can I remove unwanted apps from LMS 3.2

is that possible to remove DFM and IPM from LMS 3.2 I have never used and LMS appears to be slow and i am thinking  trimming some unwanted apps may help. thanks.

9 out of 10 times I have found marginally performing LMS servers to be suffering from under-provisioned memory. That is especially true on older Windows-based servers that didn't support server 64-bit OS along with the greater addressable memory ( > 4GB) they enable.

  • DFM database delete for one device

    Hello,
I want to delete DFM database for one of devices in LMS 4.2. Or just delete and add that device in DFM (if possible in lms 4.2, in 3.2 it was posssible).
    Regards,
    Mladen

As DFM depends of SNMP output from the device to show all this info, before we claim it corrupt, lets check directly for the interface details.
For this show the CLI output of the device:
    show run interface <int_name>
show snmp mib ifmib ifindex <int_name>
    Example if it is Ethernet2/1
    show run int Ethernet2/1
show snmp mib ifmib ifindex Ethernet2/1
The output would be similar to :
Router# show snmp mib ifmib ifindex Ethernet2/1
    Ethernet2/1: Ifindex = 3
Do a snmpwalk on the following OIDs with the ifIndex number :
    ifTable (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2)
    ifXTable (1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1)
    Example :
    snmpwallk -v2c -c public 10.10.10.10 ifTable.3
Please share the output for me to check more.
Also, for the device, to remove the entire details, we have no option left than to delete it from DCR and add it back after a short while.

  • DFM Install Questions

I didn't install DFM when I installed LMS 3.0 on my Solaris10 and after installing 3.0 I upgraded to LMS3.2. Now I feel I have a need to install DFM but I'm not sure how do I go about installing DFM. Please advise.
I currently have following modules/versions installed
    LMS3.2
    Campus Manager 5.2.1
    CiscoView 6.1.9
    CiscoWorks Assistant 1.2.0
    CiscoWorks Common Services 3.3.0
    Integration Utility 1.9.0
    Internetwork Performance Monitor 4.2.0
    LMS Portal 1.2.0
    Resource Manager Essentials 4.3.1

I had installed LMS3.2 sometime last year and couldn't seem to find the donwload copy on my PC.I will wait till it show up on the URL you mentioned.
Now that LMS4.0 is out, can I simply donwload/install LMS4.0 directly and choose DFM install or do I have to go to LMS3.2 >install DFM> and upgrade LMS4.0. IS LMS 4.0 a free upgrade?
    Thank you.

  • Ciscoworks issues

    Hi support,
i am facing an issue which is exactly similar to the thread ( https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3116706#3116706 ) as below.
In DFM(3.1.0,lms 3.1) im getting alerts as insufficientfreememory for the modules as MEM Processor, MEM I/O, MEM PosixMemory etc.
The free threshold configured in dfm is the default 15% and the image running in the cisco devices is s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-vz12.2.33.sxh4.
I had checked the show process memory and confirmed that the memory utilization is 62%. I could see in ciscoworks dfm that the alert is cleared after a few minutes and occurr's daily very frequently. Found two bugs but out of which one is already resolved in the present version(CSCso05920) and the other too.
Also how to identify the modulewise mem utilization report from the total mem utilization.(MEM Processor, MEM I/O, MEM PosixMemory etc)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_device_fault_manager/1.1/user/guide/defaults.html#wp1017758 -- this url says The other thresholds in this setting are not applicable to switches except Backplane Utilization Threshold parameter.....!!!
Could you pls anyone help on immediate basis....i have attached all the screenshots of the problem
    thanks in advance...
    regards
    Rajesh

Start a sniffer trace filtering on udp/161 traffic to this switch.  Let it run for eight minutes.  Then post the trace file.  If you cannot post the capture, you will need to open a TAC service request and include that capture file.  DFM should be using the CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB to get modular IOS memory data.  MIB support should be working properly in 12.2(33)SXH4, so we need to confirm that DFM is using the correct objects.

  • LMS 3.2/4.0.1 - DFM and OSPF messages?

Does LMS 3.2 DFM support OSPF traps? Else, does LMS 4.0.1 DFM support OSPF traps?
If not, is the only way still to use RME automated action on a syslog event for OSPF the only way to get notifications?
    -David

Unfortunately it wont, it would list as unidentified messages.  Here is the list of supported traps by DFM: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_device_fault_manager/3.2/user/guide/TrapFwd.html
RME automated actions is your best bet by defining the Syslog messages that OSPF generates.

  • LMS 3.2 DFM Event Summary problem

    Hi all,
I have two issues, and one question:
    Issues:
    1)
In the DFM portlet, under DFM Evnets Summary I see a list stating that I have 2 devices that have Event Name as Duplicate. When I click on the number 2, it opens up Device Fault Manager - Alerts and Activities, but it's show with no records. This has been like this for quite some time now... Any ideas on how to fix this?
    2)
I've got 5 devices in DFM that are in the DFM Device Status as Questioned. They don't exist in CS, RME nor any other place. I went to DFM Device Management and under Rediscover/Delete, and was going to delete the devices from DFM, but the delete button is grayed out. How can I remove the devices from DFM?
    And now for the Question:
I sometimes get an event in DFM Alerts and Activities that looks like this:
    Name                                                          Value
    Event_Description:               InformAlarm
Component:                         [FQDN DEVICE NAME REMOVED]: Cisco Configuration Management Trap
Description:                         Cisco Command Monitoring -> Event Command Source: SNMP, Event Config Source: Running, Event Config Destination: Network TFTP
Sometimes it gets cleared by it self... So I'm a bit interested to find out what does this event mean? and how to get rid of it?
    Any help is appreciated
    Gudvardur

It sounds like your DFM databases may have gotten out of sync with the rest of LMS.  You can clear the first two problems by following the steps in https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8796 to reinitialize the dfmEpm, dfmInv, dfmFh, DFM.rps, and DFM1.rps databases.  Do not reinitialize the others.
As for the delete button being grayed out, this is expected when DFM is in auto-manage mode.  To activate this button, go to DFM > Device Management > Device Import and disable auto-manage mode.
The config management trap you're seeing will occur whenever the config changes on the device.  This event should clear on its own.

  • LMS 3.2 DFM email notification problem

    Hi,
I got a problem in a newly installed LMS 3.2 with the DFM email notification.
I can see the alerts appering on Alerts&Activities, but DFM would not send any emails.
I can get emails from other moduls of LMS. CS sends me emails from successfully backups.
The SNMP Server works fine. The settings are ok.
    I already reinstalled DFM.
I have seen a thread exists on supportforum.cisco.com with the same problem.
Maybe anyone have the answer to this problem.
    Thanks,
    C8-Netzwerk

This looks like an issue I am currently tracking.  I have written a patch which should correct this.  You can get the patch by opening a TAC service request, and having your engineer contact me directly.

  • LMS 3.2 DFM Import of Devices Failed

    Hi,
My name is Ashley. I have recently installed LMS 3.2. Everything is working fine, CM, CS,HUM, RME,IPM. However, I am not able to import devices from DCR to DFM.
On Auto Allocation Window, I get the following error:
Error in getting instance of TreeGenerator class
    com.cisco.nm.trx.kdm.utils.DcrGroupSelectorTreeGenerator
    Root Cause:com.cisco.nm.xms.ctm.common.CTMException: URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "ogs_server_urn" : Not found !!
On Manual Allocation, I cannot see any device in the DCR.
I have seen in a post how to reset the DFM database, but still does not work.
    net stop crmdmgtd
    cd CSCOpx\bin
    del NMSROOT/objects/smarts/local/repos/icf/DFM.rps
    del NMSROOT/objects/smarts/local/repos/icf/DFM1.rps
    perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmEpm dmprefix=EPM
    perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmInv dmprefix=INV
    perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH
    net start crmdmgtd
    perl dbaccess.pl install
Could you please help, I am running out of ideas.

If the problem persists after a full server reboot, then you are probably not seeing this bug.  Post the NMSROOT/objects/smarts/local/logs/DFM.log and DFM1.log as well as the brcontrol output after the full reboot.

  • LMS 3.2 - DFM Notification Services issue

My customer installed an LMS 3.2 on Windows 2008 Server with SP1.
Now the DFM Notification Services causing Problems.

And all Devices marked in the device selector.
At least the E-Mail configuration was set.

What is causing these Problem? A corrupt database or some invalid setting??

    Hi Joe,
    thanks for your fast reply.
    The corresponding SR is 614309645.
These are the TAC provided files and sizes.

    05/06/2010 10:46 AM 7,112  ProcessEPMDataManager.class
    The setup instruction from TAC:
    1- Stop the  daemon manager:
                 net stop crmdmgtd
    2- Go  to:
    $NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/triveni/WEB-INF/classes/com/cisco/nm/trx/nos/server
and backup  the original files (either copy them to another safe directory or rename them to  something like . Please don't retain the  original extension when renaming the files.
3- Make  sure that the patch files have the following MD5s:
    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem$epmAlarmHistory.class) =  08851732b0b3aac5bb0636cc3e8e3c10
    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem$epmConditionHistory.class) =  7933e55abb6ad604aa6ca8d3126ff189
    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem$epmEventProperties.class) =  af3b72952ec59d59e30b0309af80a9d2
    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem.class) =  a70f49f8eab6bdea007b4ddd79e3809f
    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager.class) =  a6ec024955bb638d8fec47694816a82a3-
4- Replace  the originals in the above mentioned directory with these  versions.
    5 Start the  Daemon manager:
                 net start crmdmgtd
I followed these instructions and still facing the problem.
I also searched for the libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll, i found them, but in a path not included in the Windows PATH variable. Therefore these files should not influence LMS.
In the NOS Log i still see these messages:
    10-May-2010|15:01:10.027|ERROR|NOS|Process EPM Data Thread:Pooled  Thread:1|EpmDataQueueItem|processEPMData()|.|Caught Exception in  processEPMData():  java.util.NoSuchElementException

    10-May-2010|15:01:39.747|DEBUG|NOS|Thread-5|EPMPoller|pollEPM_Wash()|.|!!  _pollStarted =  true
    10-May-2010|15:01:39.747|DEBUG|NOS|Thread-5|NOSUtil|sendNotifOnStart|.|0
    10-May-2010|15:01:39.747|DEBUG|NOS|Thread-5|EPMPoller|pollEPM_Wash()|.|No  DB Exception in  polling
Since these Messages depends on EPM Data i had a look into the EPMServer.log and EPM.log
The EPMServer.log is shortened and showing all entries from the last dmgtd start. After the usual urn_not_found messages and the init of the Groups the following entry is generated:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
        at com.cisco.nm.trx.epm.providers.alarm.AlarmUpdateListener.processUpdatedAlarm(Unknown Source)
        at com.cisco.nm.trx.epm.providers.alarm.AlarmUpdateListener.run(Unknown Source)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595)
After that i changerd the logging of EPM to debug and attached the file as EPM_Debug.zip to this post.
Thanks a lot for your valuable support so far.
    Cheers Frank

  • LMS 3.2 DFM error "URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "ogs_server_urn" : Not found !!"

    Hi Joseph,
one of our client is using lms 3.2 and getting the following error in DFM -> device import -> Auto Allocation mode configuration.
Error in getting instance of TreeGenerator class
    com.cisco.nm.trx.kdm.utils.DcrGroupSelectorTreeGenerator
    Root Cause:com.cisco.nm.xms.ctm.common.CTMException: URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "ogs_server_urn" : Not found !!
I have gone through all documents available in netpro and done all tests mentioned for trouble shooting
following is the result of command " pearl resolver.pl "
    D:\CSCOpx\bin>perl resolver.pl hyd-wbpo-cwks.wipro.com
    Original name: hyd-wbpo-cwks.wipro.com
    Hostnames/IP Addresses:
            hyd-wbpo-cwks.wipro.com/10.120.232.143
    Here with I have attched the dfmserver.log, dfmserver1.log, dfmOGSserver.log , netstat -a -n -o -b, and output of PDshow.
One thing I observed when I am running the command "brcontrol"  under "D:\CSCOpx\objects\smarts\bin>" it is not returning me any output.
All the devices in dfm are stacked in learning state at 10%. The SNMP RO string used in DCR is alos ok.

    Hi any idea from anyone?

  • LMS 4.2 - DFM devices stuck in "Learning" state

    Hi,
Does anybody know why this same kind of bug/error/software fault exist in LMS 4.2 as it was in LMS 3.2 ? Why after a while after discovery of devices (state is "Known") DFM drops the state of devices to "Learning" and it stucks forever. Restarting of daemon manager helps for a short time. It looks like the processing of faults stops a while after discovery is complete.
LMS 4.2 is running on Solaris 10, connected to other LMS in DCR Slave configuration.

The connection between the ciscoworks GUI and the DFM repository is not 'optimal', or something like that. It's complicated.
What could cause the behavior you mention however, is either someone rediscovering devices that are still in learning state, or the presence of multiple active rediscovery schedules.
You may even delete all schedules excepts the default redisovery schedule which you can/should suspend. If the problem then stays away you know what caused it.
At this stage any device that really changes must be rediscoverd in DFM manually.
I think Admin -> Fault takes you to a page showing the schedule, if not lookup 'fault rediscovery schedule' in the help.
    Cheers,
    Michel
