DFM Alerts for B-channel backup on Fax

Hi, every time a fax gets sent, this alert is coming from LMS, as the router b-channel interfaces come up.
LMS is complaining that a backup interface had to kick in on the gateway router, and clears after about 5 minutes. I see the router up/up for this duration, then up/down and status cleared.
I have no experience with voice yet, but am assuming this is normal behaviour for call setup and teardown when a fax is sent, right? Should I ignore this and turn off the DFM alert?

By default, DFM classifies ISDN interfaces as dial backup. Obviously this is not the case for this fax interface. You can configure one of the DFM customizable interface groups to match this particular ISDN interface, and then prioritize that group so that it comes before the built-in Dial Backup group. After applying the changes, this event should stop being generated.

DFM criteria for a interface down is
ifOperStatus = down and ifAdminStatus = up. If you down the interface then ifAdminStatus will be down and not up, so DFM does not treat this an alarmed event.

For Alert rules configuration:
Remove the Check from Suppress Multiple Alerts of this Rule
For where did the error occur, see that you have selected Radio button with 'No Restriction
When creating the Alert Category, have u put some parameters in Container tab and Long and Short text.
If allt he above is done check if you have any dumps in ST22.

Dfm alerts for operationallydown

im having lms 4.2.2 and monitoring a cisco 7600 router interface ten gigabit ethernet x/x under dfm. When ever the interface is down due to any media issue i am not getting any alerts in dfm., the interface used to go down for more than 10 minutes. I am able to do an snmpwalk to this interface when the interface was down and getting the value as 2(for down). I am getting other information and configuration mode alerts in dfm for this device. please help to fix the problem.

Can you verify that the interface is managed for monitoring the faults? Go to
Monitor > Fault Settings > Setup > Fault Device Details
    select the device in the "Device Selector" and click "View"
    in the table that opens, there is a column "Device Name"; in this column, click on the device name and a new window opens with "Device Details"
    search the interface and check, that the mangement state is "true"

Alerts for JMS Adapter

Created alert catergory & classification
Create alert rule in RWB
Personlized for sending mail .
I tried with new rule for only jms adapter .
I don't want use UDF trigger alerts .

When you getting alerts for other channel means you have to get it for JMS too alert,JMS adapter part of JAVA STACK ,you can maintain alert rule as AE engine failure errors.
still if it is not working out then
When are you triggering ALERT??when JMS channel fails to connect MQ??when you expecting ALERT from JMS channel,pls check check the channel status in Communicataion channel monitroing.
1)Create one more alert rule to specific to your JMS interface,then test it .

RTMT alert for PRI

Is there any way to generate an RTMT alert as soon as the PRI goes down in cisco voice gateway (MGCP). I have almost 20 gateways and all have multiple T1 circuits and need to setup on all.

Silence Lenovo Solution Center Alerts for specific items via registry/config file.

I need to be able to customize the alerts generated by LSC. Like disabling alerts for updates and backups (I handle those for end users via other tools). Is there a registry setting or file I can edit to change these alerts? Requesting my end users open up LSC and disable specific alerts isn't an option.

I have set DECLINE_SECURITY_UPDATES=true but still have the problem.
David D'Acquisto's response-files, don't help in my case because I need a completely silent installation with all necessary information inside. But his files are largely empty. So I can't figure out with entry in it causes the problem.

The name of one environment variable contains spaces and the installer is not able to convert them internatelly. For instance, there is a variable called "PATH ".
Bug 8995616 "DB INSTALLER VALIDATES EMAIL AND FAILS".
Solution
- Check the Environment variables and be sure that none contains spaces or special characters on its name
- retry the installation
I don't see any problem in my environment variables, or which ones should I check?

How to raise Alerts for Sender File Channel

Hi All,
For Sender File Channels , we can find out the status of the adapter through RWB as to whether it is Content Conversion related exception or Folder path not found exception & etc .
I wanted to know as to whether there is any way where can rasie alerts for Sender File Channels (similar to what we do for Reciever File Channels) as well.

I found it myself .
In Alert Configuration while we are adding alerts for a particular aler category , the following parameters needs to be checked .
Connected to Message : Not Relevant
Sender Service/Party/Interface/Namespace needs to be mentioned.
Adapter Type should be selected as File

CCMS Alert for Backup DB2 on OS390

We would like to configure CCMS Alert for backup failures on the Db2 database which resides on z/OS. I have an option in RZ20 to configure , but it tell me which tablespaces needed fort the backup. it dosent tell you whether the backup is success or failed. I can see the status from the backup history in db2 t code. So how do we configure?do we really have an option to use the same.

Multiple Alerts for Single error in interface is a design not issue with XI

Hi,
This is constraint of alert mechanism in XI.
You get multiple alerts for single error,the reason is that since XI will try multiple times to process a failed message so each time it fails in its tries it will send an e-mail.to stop this the "Suppress multiple alert" box is checked but what it does is that it stops all the alerts of that specific rule until the first one is confirmed.Personally i myself (and other experts too) suggest to leave the box unchecked coz its better to get tons of mails for a specific error rather than not getting any e-mail and thereby wasting time in tracking/solving the issue resulting in revenue loss to client.
As per above comments is it possible to write an ABAP code so that we can stop multiple alerts to be sending to inbox. I am sure if we can delete message from some table then we can stop sending multiple messages to alert inbox and to the subsequent mail id also. I am not sure how alert being generated. I know where they get logged in this table sxmsalertlogger. If someone know how it works in background please let me know the table names.

Hi Gaurav,
You can personalize the way in which you receive alerts.
Simply choose Personalization to make individual settings for your alert inbox. You can determine a substitute who will then receive the alerts. In addition, you can choose whether alerts are sent to you time-independently or time-dependently. The default setting is that alerts are sent time-independently to your alert inbox and via e-mail when they occur. You can additionally select the communication methods FAX and SMS for time-independent alert notification.
If you want to receive alerts only on certain days for a certain time, simply select the option for time-dependent sending of alerts and choose Create to create a new table entry. You can then choose the corresponding factory calendar, the time interval, and communication channel. Alerts that arise during this time frame will be sent in any case to your alert inbox. If you have also selected other communication channels, the alerts are additionally sent to you using these other channels.
This above text is from SAP help, do you think by changing anything in personnalisation i can stop multiple alerts. I have some issue with Personalisation link so was wondering would be worth to get tht personalisation issue resolved.

Alerts for text, email, voicemail etc... have disappeared

Didn't do anything out of the ordinary but I no longer get alerts for sms or mms, email and pretty much everything that utilizes alerts. I have checked and double checked the option settings for each and all appear to be normal. Normal being they are set up like they would be to work. Thanks in advance for any help. Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

How do I connect Airport Extreme and Time Capsule to my new iMac so that AE is used for network and TC only used for Time Machine backup?

I didn't realize that Time Capsule will only support the print function of a wireless multifunction printer. So I want to use Extreme for my network to have full use of my printer and use TC as the Time machine backup only. How to I make the connections?

Thanks for your response and this is getting complicated but I just purchased a new iMac as well as the Airport TC. I've had the Airport Extreme for a year or so. The Airport Extreme worked perfectly with my old iMac wirelessly and I had all functions of my printer with no problems. I was expecting the same with the TC. But the instruction that came with TC say to connect the printer to the TC via USB...which I did. And the print function worked perfectly but nothing else. In researching I discovered that when wired that way the TC only supports the print function...not scan or fax or anything else. I tried going wireless since my AE worked perfectly via wireless but I got no printer functions at all that way. But I'm wondering also if I tried that during a time I was having other issues...I had to delete and re-add my printer which solved some other problems. I may try that again...and see if I can get all print functions with just the TC connected
As far as connecting both your AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule on your network, we're not clear on exactly how you want to do this. Will the AirPort Extreme connect to your modem using an Ethernet cable and the Time Capsule connect to the AirPort Extreme using an Ethernet cable?.......or......do you want the Time Capsule to connect to the network using wireless?
Well... first of all I would like not to have to use the AE at all...I would prefer using just my TC for network, all print functions and Time Machine backup if that's possible. My printer will not accept Ethernet connections (Canon MX512).
After failing at getting this to work, I decided I would try to use my AE for net and print functions and just use my TC for Time Machine backup. I tried several different connection configurations with no success until finally I connected cable modem to my AE via Ethernet and went wireless with the AE and printer. but connected the AE to the TC via Ethernet and amazingly everything worked like a charm (for a while) and I was patting myself on the back for being so smart. But now I find that the connection only lasts for a short time. If I leave it for a while the TC goes invisible...or at least I see a message saying the Ethernet is unplugged...but it is not... and I lose internet connection even though I have a green light on my AE. So now I'm at a loss. I don't know why I keep losing network signal and why my system thinks the Ethernet is unplugged.
So... after all this...I figured I wasn't so smart after all and I must have things wired incorrectly.
So... it sounds like you are saying I should go back and try again to get my new TC to work as I want it to via wireless instead of connecting via USB...is that correct? Could you tell me exactly how I should wire my equipment from cable modem to AE and/or TC to achieve net capability, full functions of my printer and Time Machine backup...

Alerts for error in CC

Dear All,
I am currently working on a scenario in which I am getting error in the Receiver RFC adapter. I am able to monitor the error in Communication Channel Monitoring or in Message monitoring in RWB. I want to send the error to the administrator as an alert. I have configured CCMS alerts and has specified as Adapter Engine error with Adapter Type as RFC but still I am not able to receive any alerts.
Please guide me on how the alerts for error in communication channel can be trigerred.
